I've been going to VICI Beauty School for services for years, but this is my first time leaving a review. I stopped in today because I had to cancel my regular hair appointment and needed a quick refresh--a V-cut cleanup and a pedicure before an upcoming vacation. You really can't beat the prices here, and the location is super convenient right off Hwy 100 and the freeway. That said, your experience really depends on the student you're paired with. Some are more confident, engaged, and eager to learn than others--which makes a big difference in the overall service. The same student did both my pedicure and haircut. The pedicure was good overall--the lotions and massage were really nice--but I was a little disappointed they no longer remove dead skin, which is something I personally look for. Color selection is somewhat limited, but still decent. My haircut was pretty simple--just a cleanup with added layers. The instructor did step in to guide the student, and while it wasn't done exactly right at first, the instructor finished it off and it ended up looking good and much healthier. I also got a shampoo with a really nice scalp massage, which was a highlight. I do like supporting the students and the learning environment, but it's important to go in with realistic expectations. It's a great option for affordable services--you just have to remember they're still learning. read more

I've been a client of Vici for over 20 years so I have a good understanding of what to expect when I come here for an appointment. First and foremost, this is a beauty school and the prices reflect that. When I make an appointment, I don't make the appointment thinking I'll always get in and out on time because there are times when they run behind and patience is a must when you come here. More often than not though, appointments are on time and I'm greeted by a friendly student who is eager to do a great job! Second, all students check in with their instructors before and after the cut so there could be touch ups by a more seasoned hand if the cut doesn't quite meet the required standards. But, very rarely have a left here with a cut where I wasn't happy. Quite honestly, I've received better haircuts here for $13 than I have at some salons where I've paid more than $40! After a quick review with the instructor, every haircut includes a shampoo and conditioning. Occasionally, there will be a little head massage even. After cut is checked, the student asks what kind of style is preferred before we're sent out into the world with our new 'do. I've received a few services here and all are well worth the price tag and it's a win-win because you're giving students the opportunity to practice their craft before heading out into the real world. Salons offer a different environment but I'll continue to come here because the price and the quality can't be beat! read more

Marissa is the best student I've ever had! She was super adorably, friendly, efficient, and talented stylist as well as color application! She is going to do so well when she graduates as she's already there! Took off one star for the checkout person Kaitlyn needs to be schooled in customer service! She argued with me about the 10% discount on the product of the week! Someone needs to train this girl on etiquette and customer service. You do not argue with the customer, especially when I was right! And I didn't even get an apology SMH. read more

Upon walking into the salon the lady at the front desk was rude. My appt was at 10:30 but the stylist was running late. Even though no one told me this. After over 20 minutes she came and got me. I was there OVER 45 MINUTES only to be told she couldn't do the highlights. So I wasted close to an hour to be told it couldn't be done. I left and found another salon. My highlights are gorgeous. Don't hire people who should only be doing haircuts. I will NEVER recommend going to this salon. No one seems to want to work there. They are slow and skilled in the technique of customer avoidance. I have been going here for years, went yesterday for a haircut, got Paige(student), worst attitude ever, went in at 2pm for my haircut giving them plenty of time to get it done, she didn't wash my hair properly, kept twisting my neck to turn my head even though I wasn't moving my head, cut my hair very poorly, when the instructor checked it, she had to fix everything that Paige did, then asked me how I wanted it styled, told her blow dried straight with a side part, she just blow dried it and then told me I could part it the way I wanted. Got to checking out and the receptionist asked me if I wanted to leave a tip on the card, I said no, she was the rudest person I have ever gotten here and she asked if I wanted to talk to someone about it, I just shook my head no, proceeded to leave and an instructor that was filling in at the reception area chased me down and said I should've never left like that, so she ended up styling my hair, bottom line is stay away from PAIGE doing anything to your hair, she better change her attitude, miserable human being. read more

As I was at the desk ready to pay my bill, a student walked by and said, "wow, that cut looks great" . I know these girls are inexperienced, but they need to learn what a good haircut looks like. This was a terrible cut. When you see staff and other guests haircuts, you realize no one is leaving with a great haircut. Twice, I lucked out in the past. 10 times it was terrible. At least this last girl carried herself professionally, just not yet talented. The place is clean. Poor internet signal. read more

I was extremely impressed at this school from a client perspective. I was reluctant to try a new beauty school, but after speaking with the staff on the phone, I decided to give this place a try. I will say that my map function took me to the wrong address, so, I would verify the accuracy of your map before just following it. (Just a little tidbit) Once I arrived at the correct address I was relieved and excited to see how nice it was. The building was nice, and the grounds were pretty, and the parking lot was spacious. (After my last beauty school experience, these were all big pluses for me.) The staff was professional and courteous upon check in. My student stylist was extremely knowledgeable and did a GREAT job on my hair. And, did it in a timely fashion. (Another huge concern of mine when going to a cosmetology school for highlights). Overall my experience was great, I will definitely be back. If you're interested in the opportunity to have a student conduct your beauty service, I would definitely give this place a try. read more

My second time going here. I wanted a trim but somehow got 6 1/2 inches cut off of my hair. I was devastated. I started crying when I got home. when it was wet,It didn't look like much but then it dried up and I looked like Dora. I'm not sure how students mistake 6 inches for half an inch or 1 inch. The lady there was very nice and I enjoyed my time with her, but I did not like the style of my hair when I got home I could not stop crying. I miss my long hair. read more

The people that work on you are students. However, they are under the supervision of licensed instructors. The instructors always check in on you and the student, and checks to see that things are being done properly. i've had two horrible experiences at this establishment. the first time i went into get a trim, with hair down to my lap. me and the girl doing my hair agreed to just cut off the dead ends, a 1-2 inch trim. she ended up cutting more then a foot off my hair leaving my hair just below my shoulder, without asking me if that was okay. the second time i went to get my color touched up, and when conducting a test strand, me and the girl doing my hair checked multiple times by stretching and pulling to make sure the condition of my hair was healthy, which is was. she then called the instructor over, who proceeded to take my hair in two clenched fists and with all her strength she ripped a piece of my hair off my head. she yanked my head so hard, and saying that the hair wasn't damaged at all from testing nor would it come out easily without the amount of power she put into pulling it out of my head, it hurt immensely. the piece of my hair that was tested was perfectly healthy and okay to be dyed. This school caters to the elderly so I was stunned to see how lax they were about masks and sanitation!! When I booked my appointment, they told me all of their services now have a $3 covid surcharge. Then half of the people had their noses out or masks around their chin. They were also out of clean pens and just handing the same one back and forth. The only reason I didn't dispute it was because my stylist was very sweet and did a great job. I didn't want her to feel like I was blaming her. If you charge everyone $3 extra because you just want to make more money, don't pretend it's because you're taking fake precautions in the name of covid! read more

I have been coming to VICI for many years now. I almost always have a good experience. I realize these are students and as a customer here we have to be patient. But...most of my problems come from the girls working at the front desk. Today 20 minutes after checking in I went up to the desk to see when I was going to be taken. The girl looked lost. Even after checking in with her when I came in she couldn't find my check in paper. Then after looking through some papers she said well it's because you requested someone and she's still working on someone's hair. I replied to her that I did NOT request someone when I made my appointment. This was just an excuse to give me to justify the fact that they misplaced my check in paper. This is NOT the first time this has happened to me. They finally set me up with an awesome girl who not only did a great job but she told me all she was doing was working on the heads of hair not real customers so she could have taken me at my original appointment time. No apology from girl from the desk or a discount for my inconvenience. It just wasn't a big deal to make someone sit there and wait. They can do better and should do better! read more

Ladies day for spa treatments for me to treat a friend in need of me time. Scheduled a 75 minute age defying facial followed by a body polish using Dead Sea Salt. Porsha was my student with great customer service skills and attention to detail. The facial included two massages of your choosing. I asked for scalp and neck/shoulder area. Essential oils choice was lavender or peppermint, I chose peppermint to invigorate me. The entire process was very relaxing, music, soft voices and lulled me to sleep. The skin analysis was helpful and my face felt amazing. The body polish followed and being scrubbed and moisturized was incredible. I highly recommend this phenomenal bargain at $30 for facial and $40 for body polish. Plus a senior discount of 10%. Porsha deserved the $20 tip and is graduating to begin her own business. She will do well. My friend was so pleased with her experience this will be a monthly outing trying various options. Front desk staff were efficient, warm, welcoming and customer service oriented. Worst place to attend school at financial aid department and some of the people working there are nothing but liars trying to extort money out of you failed in every aspect of the way my wife ended up going to a different place is got her masters degree in aesthetics now for the same price that she got to go to at Veazie receive them sorry might be a good place but to waste that type of money to go to a place like that that my wife was just respect it I was just respect during the financial aid part of this whole deal it's not worth wasting your money go to WCTC read more

I had a really horrible experience 5 years ago because I did not tell them my daughter was black . The student was disgusted with her hair texture because she is black and her hair too coiled to be strengthened. So this morning at 830 am I book an appointment and I'm sure to tell them we are both african american . I am scheduled for 6pm because thats the only time someone who can do textured hair is available . Get here and while our two stylist are extremely sweet , patient and willing to learn they have no experience doing "textured hair " Neither does any of the other students as we discussed with a few other students, one of which have curly thick hair and explained she is not even taught how to do her own hair . I wait 30 minutes past my appointment just to get in the chair for Mr. Pedro to come over and tell me I will pay $30 plus because of my hair texture because they need to blow dry it to clip the ends than wash and blow dry again which I explained is way too much heat for my hair. I explained that I spent over 20 minutes on the phone giving great detail and that I was not paying over what I was quoted . Two hours later the student was still blow drying my daughter hair to cut it only to wash it and blow dry it again . I am truly upset and WILL NEVER BE BACK. Being someone who studied here I would love to falsely tell you it was a great great school but no. First of all go to aveda. If you plan on attending this school, know now that they will lie and reel you in to pay 20k for things YOU don't want to do. Starting off with. Someone who wants to do nails, forget it, you will only be doing hair and nothing else. You will do basic nail manicure with old polish from 2010. Also don't count on graduating on your given date as everything is done on paper. EVEN BETTER they have front desk not even the actual auditor of the school will be putting your hours in. 18-20 year olds are being in charge of how many hours you have. Horrible. They accept clients with ACTUAL fungus and as a previous student you deny a service you get sent home, no matter how disgusting they're feet are, you're obligated to work on them. and penny the owner of the school lord don't count on that women to help you with anything related to you finishing on time for graduation because she won't. Don't let them fool you either 20k and if you miss you pass your graduation date you will be obligated to pay EXTRA for every day you attended to reach your hours. DO NOT DO IT.
