The cocktails were just beautiful both visually and in flavor - a great welcome to our experience! We didn't want to eat too much so we only got the bread plate as our appetizer/small plate. A great surprise on this one was the olives! The foccacia and oil were good as expected, but the olives were a tasty bonus! I had the Osso Bucco for my meal and it was fall off the bone tender, and so so tasty. It is my new favorite Osso Bucco and I seek it out at Italian spots. I was honestly disappointed in Vicino. For the price range and the local right on Mass Ave, the food was just...average. I'm not sure if the Caesar dressing on the salad was missing anchovies or garlic but it lacked flavor. The Pesto Chicken, while the sun-dried tomatoes tried to add a bit of extra something to the dish, really fell short. The Cannoli also fell apart a bit too quickly when you held them. read more

Came here for lunch. The ambiance is nice. There's indoor / outdoor seating. It's on Mass Ave so you'll have to pay to park. The bruschetta was good and had a lot of toppings & flavor. The shrimp pasta was okay. It could definitely use some more seasoning. The service was quick and super nice! We visited with a very very large group, and they were so accommodating! We mostly had kids, and they were hungry! The food came right out, and I tried 3 items; margherita pizza, spaghetti classico and the Italian grilled cheese and all were delicious. The meatballs were a bit spicy but omg were they SOOO good. I ate the meatballs while my 6-year-old at the spaghetti and love it. The grilled cheese was also very good and great portion size and only $12. Highly recommend the Call Me Pretty drink delicious and pretty :) Even though they allowed us to host our luncheon for our kid's cross-country team you can tell this would be a great dinner date place. read more

Service really goes a long way, and Vicino gave us one of the most thoughtful moments of service I've experienced in a while -- so much so that I'll lead with that before the food. We were seated right under an air conditioning vent, or so it seemed, and my wife was getting pretty chilly. Somehow from a distance our server noticed this, and offered to move us to a corner booth that was further from the vents. That level of attentiveness is an extremely nice touch, and reflects talent and experience. Of course, the main attraction is the food. I didn't much care for Vicino's predecessor, Hedge Row, and was excited for an Italian restaurant on Mass Ave. The cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and desserts, everything was great. We tried the carbonara and the primavera, both of which were sizeable and full of flavor. For dessert we went with the zagbaglione, which I'd never heard of before, let alone tried, and I would absolutely get it again. I hope Vicino sticks around, because I'd love to go back. read more

Love the vibes of this place! Walking in it's so welcoming, I loved the greenery and the decor. It was our first time here and the waiter was so helpful and gave us suggestions on what to order. We started off with the focaccia bread, which came with a dipping oil, sun dried tomatoes, and a garlic dip. The bread itself was really good and I love anything garlic, but I wish the dipping oil had a little more flavor and seasoning to it. The waiter suggested the gnocchi and it didn't not disappoint! The gnocchi was soft and pillowy, and had the perfect amount of pesto. We also got the funghi pizza which was delicious, but I'd personally get it without the pickled onions next time. We ended the meal with a tiramisu and it was AMAZING. I always get tiramisu at Italian restaurants but this one was one of my favorites in the city. So moist and not overly sweet and the little coffee "caviar" on top was so cute and fun! Definitely coming back again there were so many other things on the menu I want to try! read more

You HAVE to start with the Meatball Bolognese... the couple behind us also got this starter and they were raving about it to their waiter The meat lovers pizza was delicious and enough to feed one person. The gnocchi was paired so well with pesto, olives, and the chicken was so tender. Of course I am happy with any bottle of white wine, so I recommend "Unshackled". We dined here before a show at Old National Center. It is walking distance which was great. We decided to sit in the bar to minimize wait time. The décor, overall asthetic, even menus were beautiful. We both ordered a cocktail, which were good. Mine was HUGE (+1). We ordered appetizers of the bread & herb oil & calamari. Portions were small for the price but flavors were good. Service between courses was a little slow, but considering the style of the restaurant , it is to be expected. Once our entrees came out, we immediately ordered dessert since we were short on time. Our meals were again, small portions for the price and were barely warm. Both meals could have had a little more flavor. Their dessert menu looked amazing and while I wanted to try multiple desserts, the price would not allow for that. Overall, with drinks, apps, meals, and dessert, it was $100 per person. Prior to Vicino, I had intentions on trying the restaurant that served in this space, but I'm glad Vicino took over. The restaurant has a great vibe and the decor is amazing. We celebrated a birthday and the area we were seated, was befitting for our group! The calamari and soup were awesome, and I would order each time. I had dinner here with some friends from work, and while we had a reservation for a Wednesday night, we likely would have been fine to walk in without one as they were not full. Service was good; everyone was friendly and seemed well versed in the menu at this stills pretty new place. I had the Italian Soda cocktail which was a good choice for a hot evening as it was very refreshing. I had the pesce entree which was branzino over eggplant slices and other grilled vegetables. It was excellent and the fish was nicely cooked. We shared some bread as a starter and I loved the roasted garlic and dried tomatoes that accompanied it. The only area I'd suggest for improvement is that our entrees came out very quickly after our cocktails and bread. We weren't in a rush and a little more time to enjoy our cocktails and bread would have been nice, but I know others like food out as fast as possible so ai get that it's hard for restaurants to strike a balance. We liked the decor and atmosphere and all agreed we'd definitely come back. Next time I want to try one of the pizzas and dessert as those looked really tempting coming out to other tables. read more

The food was pretty standard Italian fare and really good, but nothing that stands out over the myriad of other good Italian places in town. I got the vegan primavera (I am not vegan but I am vegetarian), it was decent. About 30-45 minutes after leaving, I was very very ill. I was suddenly very sick all over my bathroom and myself. I have no allergies and I do not believe spoiled food would have had this reaction (without me tasting it). I feel like I ingested meat via cross contamination as I would have been able to taste actual meat in the dish. I have never had this reaction after eating and have not ate meat in 13 years, for context. 10/10 would NOT recommend if you are vegan/vegetarian, it was so bad I wanted to go to the hospital. This menu was very hard to choose, everything sounded and looked (Yelp) soooo good! Decided on a appetizer, the soup and split a sandwich with the wife. The calamari was delicious and crispy, even though I prefer the style with the little tentacles. The calamari "fries" were probably my least favorite out of all the things we tried. The soup was so yummy even on a hot day. It was super flavorful. The sandwich was also full of flavor and the focaccia bread was delightful! Loving the modern take on Italian food. Still has some classic dishes available, but also some new and fresh ideas. The Arancini is a must for starters, and the roasted red pepper pesto on the Caprese salad is absolutely delightful! Sampled quite a few things, but the Vegan Primavera was my favorite, it had a little kick of spice which I love! I don't typically like fish but the Pesce was also amazing. Since first finding Vicino, this has become one of our go-to places for a good meal. This past Saturday was our most recent visit, and a shining example of why Vicino has become one of our favorite places. It was a busy night (definitely get reservations for a weekend night), but the service was still outstanding. Our server, Trey, gave us some recommendations and helped us discover some new favorites. The osso buco is not to be missed, and ending the meal with bombolini was an excellent call (he even had it packed for us to take home). Service was pretty good. Asked for a glass of ice that I never got. Cocktails seemed overpriced by $3-$4. I had limone su and my husband asked for a long Island. Sizes of drink were normal but not worth $15 a pop. Spaghetti was spicy and meatballs were seasoned very well. Size of dish didn't fit well for price tag. One of my meatballs had a hard piece of bone in it. My husband's pizza was yummy and price was good. I was sad there wasn't any alfredo or chicken parmesan and our server said we couldn't replace meatballs in Spaghetti with chicken. The place was very nice and they had a real cool Mona Lisa picture made of fur. Dance music was playing in the background. Would I go again? No, not unless someone I knew really wanted to go.
