As I walked to the material I needed to load, one of the young men walked over to me and asked if I needed help. I'm sporting a cane post knee surgery. The young man loaded my item into my truck. At this point, both introduced themselves. I thanked them, and then I told them I had been purchasing flooring from Bartz for 40 years. they thanked me for being a loyal customer. I didn't want to make everyone wait and I didn't want to criticize the workers in from of them, so I didn't walk around and check every inch of the carpet. Within a week there was a loop exposed on one of the seams where the carpet edges meet. The owner came back and cut it off. Very nice for him to do a home visit, but I could've cut it off all by myself (and risked it fraying further without any help). I thought he'd do something more permanent and professional. A few months later there was another large loop coming up on a different seam and he said he'd come over and GLUE it. I figured I could do that too so didn't make him come. At any rate, it's still unglued and raveling off and I am frustrated with their work. The edges are uneven around the fireplace and it's just plain shoddy workmanship.

After speaking to several people on several occasions I was finally referred to Emory. He was very pleasant and took the time to fully understand my concern. He was great at keeping me informed and discussing options that would be satisfactory to both of us. He sent Lenny out to take a look at my concern and to do what he could to resolve the issue. Lenny was able to fix the problem in very little time with an outcome way beyond and more favorable then even what I was willing to accept to resolve the issue. Emory send the right person out for the job. Because of their willingness to resolve the issue and the speed in which it was done, I am giving them a 5 star rating. Mistakes happen but resolving them in a kind, professional and positive manner is what I as a customer appreciates and expects and makes Carpetland USA in Pewaukee deserve the best rating possible.

Carpetland installed the wrong color carpet throughout our home in early July. Their own claim…read moreidentified it as "Wrong color." After months of trying to get what we actually paid for (we are now in September) their final solution is that we either pay them $4,358.45 to keep a striped carpet we never chose and do not want, or let them remove the carpet and pad and leave us with bare subfloor. We paid $8,716.89 for Karastan Yorkshire Trace in Hazel, selected from Carpetland's samples. What was installed did not match what we purchased. Early on, Carpetland offered us a discount to simply keep the incorrect carpet. We declined because we were not looking for cheaper flooring. We wanted the carpet we chose and paid for. Instead, correcting their mistake consumed most of our summer. We dealt with months of delays, shifting blame, changing timelines, poor follow-through, repeatedly chasing their team for updates, and ultimately, they were unsuccessful in providing the right carpet. The way we were treated made an already awful situation worse. We found the communication by Mike Nielsen (the Pewaukee store manager) repeatedly dismissive and patronizing. Our concerns felt minimized and it seemed burden was repeated shifted to the customer move the claim along. When we raised thoughtful concerns about putting our new padding through removal and installation, the response included rude commentary about us creating landfill waste. After months spent trying to correct their wrong-color installation, they advised us to "stay away from linear patterns" in the future, as though our design choice was the problem rather than the wrong product color. We still gave them months and multiple opportunities to fix it and when the replacement carpet rolls still did not match the Hazel samples, Carpetland ultimately agreed they could not fulfill the order with the chosen color. So after spending most of our summer cooperating with their attempts to correct the problem, we have ended up essentially back at the option we rejected in the beginning. We either pay thousands of dollars and keep striped carpet we never chose or rip up our home again and leave us worse off than when we started. Their solution to remove the carpet and pad now feels retaliatory and incredibly frustrating. From our perspective, it is difficult to understand what practical purpose that serves when we cannot imagine used carpet removed from our home being realistically reused or resold. After previously receiving commentary about landfill waste, the option also feels ironically wasteful. We just want to walk away with something that feels fair at this point. Yet, we feel we are still the ones being asked to pay for their mistakes, either with more than $4,300 for the wrong carpet or by letting them rip up the carpet and leave us with subfloor. Before spending thousands with Carpetland, read their BBB reviews and other negative customer experiences, especially those where problems arise. I wish we had done that first.

After discussing the issue with Mike, he reassured us that sanding would get rid of these humps and bumps. Needless to say, the sander did not fix these issues (3 of them) and the company refused to remedy the problem, stating that they did the best they could...very unprofessional. $12,000 later, instead of 1 problem area, we now had 3. We stopped payment on our check in hopes that there was something to hold over them to fix all the problems they created.
