Located in the upscale residential neighborhood of the 16th arr. the Victor consistently offers delicious and sophisticated dining accompanied by friendly and professional staff. I saw one review that complained of slow service, but this is France where dining is a cultural experience. You will not be rushed, no waiter will deliver the check to your table to hurry you out the door. Slow down and enjoy the moment. We started our meal with the "perfect egg" and the pate. Both were wonderful. Our mains were the monk fish and veal chop. The monk fish was done perfectly, while the veal chop, about 1 1/2" thick was rare and tender. Was there for dinner without a group on a Sunday evening. I ordered the white asparagus appetizer and the swordfish for dinner. This was the first time trying white asparagus and it was delicious. The swordfish was prepared perfectly and very tasty. read more

Came for any early Valentine's date at opening, 7:30. A local concierge scored the reservation. Coming from the US thought it was odd this late opening, seemed to be a tourist trap as we didn't see many tables were occupied even by 8pm and those that were were all Americans, LOL No worries, food and service and wine was all excellent. Best restaurant we ate at in Paris. I'm a huge foodie and we stumbled upon this cozy, adorable gem of a restaurant and couldn't have been happier. The place was packed but not too loud, great soft music. The atmosphere made me feel so happy and warm and gave us the Paris experience I was craving. The food was superb, I wanted to lick the plate. We had the razor clams which were truly perfection and the seared scallops were chefs kiss! Our waiter, Mathis was very attentive and lovely. 10/10! read more

I visited Paris when I was younger and my family and I stumbled upon this charming spot. We returned years later and it did not disappoint! The staff is so welcoming and friendly (being American we really try to speak French but it's also nice when we ask to speak English and they are more than happy to do so). We absolutely loved the escargot! That was one of our favorite dishes our whole trip. Definitely stop by if you are in the area - they take reservations online! read more

Listening from my table to all the conversations around me I noticed something... Everyone is speaking english! This place is populated by tourists in a not very tourist neighborhood... ODD... The food was nothing extraordinary.. especially for paris.. Sweetbreads were bland but plentiful portion... Ceviche was delicate and tasty.. gone in a flash! We booked dinner here on recommendation of our hotel and because it was nearby (we had done a little too much walking trying to stave off jet lag on our first day in Paris). Victor is a small welcoming spot and our reservation was for 730 (when they and most Paris restaurants open for dinner). There were a few others with the same idea. We were given a choice (but tiny) table right in the front window. They provided us with English menus and the sever had good command of English. We tried the nightly appetizer special - goat cheese and chanterelle mushrooms baked inside philo dough over a small salad (very good) and also the nightly plat-du-jour which was a rich, hearty beef dish (almost like a stew) that was slowly cooked and served over carrots in a small cast iron dish. Best Vegan lasagna on the planet. It's a nice place for a business lunch. The only drag was there is heavy construction going on across the street, and the noise protrudes into the restaurant. Hopefully that will be over soon. read more

Very good bistro in the otherwise bland 16th. Get the prix fixe. Today's lunch offering was a starter of boudin blanc (white sausage) in an amazing creamy sauce, followed by a decent-sized, whole duck breast in a creamy horseradish/celeriac sauce accompanied by cooked spinach. I went one step further and ordered the brioche covered in caramel sauce and one scoop of honey ice cream. One of the best meals in my life. AND the staff was helpful, english-speaking and pleasant. Loved every minute of our dinner there. Our waiter from the start was very kind and brought us an English menu. We decided to try foie gras and although it was not horrible it is also something French i never have to try again. I had the beef and my husband the lamb. Both were fabulous. Five stars really for what it is - an English-friendly neighborhood bistro with good food. As a non-native speaker, there aren't a lot of bistro-style places I've eaten in Paris where I have felt so comfortable. Thoughts/Recommendations: * Jules Vernes Plate - at 17 Euros, this is fantastically priced. Stacked with jamon, foie pate, a rillette and salami, this was both delicious and a great value. * Spanish Pork Chop - my favorite, hands-down. Enough fat for that great flavor/moistness, but not too much where it feels like you're chewing on a gristle. * Noodles for the kids - I came in with twin 4 year olds and, god bless them, lamb sweetbreads wasn't their go-to meal. Our waiter (Nicholas) offered to make them buttered noodles with a little Parmesan cheese. Grateful for the extra effort here, as nobody wants to hear my kids whining on a Friday night. * Wine - in general, great wine list with reasonable pricing. Single glass program is nice, with a top shelf selection in addition to the typical $7/glass line-up. I grabbed a 2011 Alain Voge Cornas "Les Chailles" at 74 euros. We ate here on the recommendation of the hotel concierge. She described it as "very traditional French and very good". She was right. The place is on a small, narrow street and easy to miss. Reservations are wise as it is always full. My wife had a very nice seared veal steak and I had a really good lamb dish. We coupled it with a selection from their nice house wines (excellent!), finished with cheeses and armagnac. Highly recommended to anyone visiting. read more

Came here twice during a weeklong stay in Paris. Just one block from the Rue Kleber, less than 10 minutes from the Trocadero. Small but flawlessly executed menu with a vast French wine selection. I have never written a review on Yelp before but I really and truly think that this is the time to start. This was my first time in Paris and last night before I flew back to the states. Given this situation I decided to have an authentic French meal and was beyond pleased. I had never had Veal cooked as perfect as that in my life!! From the entree to the wine selection and dessert I was the best meal I had during my stay in Europe. But what I am really writing about is the service. It turns out that there was a problem with my debit card and required me to call my bank to fix the problem in order to pay my bill. Not only was this a terrible and EMBARRASSING problem to have but it was 1130 at night and the restaurant was closing at midnight. Between the time difference and trying to reach a friend of mine it was a nightmare to say the least. The staff was so gracious with me and arranged a way for me to get in contact with the staff the next day (when they were closed) in order to pay my bill. They reassured me that it was alright and that I should just enjoy my meal. After I finished I ran around the neighborhood a few times until I found an open ATM and was able to return before they closed. Our hotel is very close to Victor and we walked by it a few days before we gave it a try on a Thursday night. It was busy, we had to sit in the bar, but the atmosphere was still very good. We enjoyed the escargot as our first course, the lady enjoyed the Gilt fish and I had the Ox Cheek. For dessert we split the chocolate moose. Every plate of food that came out of the kitchen was truly fabulous, comparable with some of the very best restaurants that I have eaten at in NYC, Vegas and other large cities. Prices were incredibly fair for the quantity and quality of food. If you are staying in the area, call for a reservation to get a seat in the dining room and don't miss Victor! read more
