Stopped in for a late lunch with my daughter. Charming little place with a quaint interior right in the heart of Homer. My daughter and I shared the Suki Yaki Noodle Soup with salmon as well as the Green Papaya Salad. Both were delicious, especially the papaya salad! Fresh, crisp and a delicious dressing topped with a couple prawns. The only turn off are the egg shells in the soup. I would recommend the place. read more

My dad, friend and I dined here early on a Thursday and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious Thai food served at Vida's. The ingredients were fresh, well prepared and presented nicely. We started with fresh rolls and the papaya salad, then I got the Thai satay salad while my friend got pad see ew and my dad got green curry. I enjoyed the fresh rolls a lot. They were not overly stuffed with noodles but could haves used a bit more shrimp. Some of the rolls were a little heavy on the Thai basil but I didn't mind much. We enjoyed the papaya salad a lot. It was spicy yet also sweet and tangy. The friend shrimp were a nice addition. I really liked the creamy peanut sauce on my chicken which topped very fresh and crisp Romain lettuce. My friend's noodles were very good and well seasoned however she and I were a little distraught that it was slightly over cooked as it was harder to pull apart the noodles. She also ordered it medium spice but her dish was mild. My dad's curry was coconut-y and delicious but could have been a bit more flavorful. His was medium spicy as he had ordered it. Overall our experience at Vida's was good. The ambiance was nice and relaxing. Service was friendly and attentive. Our only complaint was the bench seating, it was very uncomfortable. I love Thai food and this was good, but not as spicy as expected. I had the drunken noodle and all the ingredients were fresh. We arrived right at 8pm-their closing time, but they were very pleasant and accommodating to make us our takeout. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The steamed dumplings were tasty. The Curry chicken was ok-could be spicier. We asked for a medium plus spice. The surprise was a dessert of a little peanut butter tort/pie. After scouring Homer for a restaurant that didn't require reservations or have an hour long wait to be seated, we hit upon Vidas Thai Food. When we walked in, it was pretty empty, but the boxes on the table indicated most people went the takeout route. The owner seated us, and told us that they were backed up on takeout orders, and the food would take anywhere from 50-60 minutes to be served. We waited anyway because we were happy to be sitting at all. Food came within 30 minutes (props to the chef!) We ordered the fried tofu appetizer which was incredibly crispy. Calamari was great as well. Tom Kha soup with vermicelli was really good as well. The portions were decent and we all left satisfied. Overall, a nice restaurant, nice decor, stop in if you're hungry for Thai food! read more

This food was so flavorful! They were only open for take out but so helpful and kind. The food was ready exactly when they said it would be and the pricing was very reasonable. After a long day hiking and traveling, we were quickly realizing that nothing stays open late in Homer on Monday for dinner...uh-oh. After much research and searching, we found it...THAI FOOD!! And boy were we glad we did, because it was just what we needed. Our service was wonderful, and our food was delicious (not just because we were starving). We split the tofu fresh rolls (3 for $7.95), tom yum soup (large $11.95), and a green curry with tofu and vegetables ($12.95). We got brown rice ($2.50) instead of white to make health conscious decisions. All of the dishes were served fresh and expertly prepared. A small spice rack was provided to increase the levels of spicy if desired, and you know we do! My son and husband ordered the Chicken Basil w/ medium spice band it was almost too spicy to eat. Every Thai place is different it seems...At our old Thai place in FL they would order hot. Vida has been around for years, but the restaurant has moved like 5 times, so I guess I'm the first to review the new location. And it is a great location. Right in the middle of town, and what they have done with the space is amazing. Very comfortable, super friendly service, and the food is great. Prices are in line with what one would expect for freshly prepared Thai food in Alaska. Noodle dishes, soups, and curries are all great. With most restaurants closed after Labor Day, this place was open! We ordered take out and it was ready very quickly. We had pad kee mao noodles, curry, tom yum soup and crab rangoon. For the two of us, the portions were huge, which we didn't expect in Alaska! We ended up eating the rest the next day.
