Keen Kow is a family favorite! We often make the drive up to Ninilchik just to eat here--even more so when passing through on trips to Anchorage. This Thai family-run restaurant serves up fresh, flavorful dishes that rival the best Thai spots on the Kenai Peninsula. As a self-proclaimed Thai food snob, I can confidently say Keen Kow delivers. The peanut sauce is crunchy, a little tangy. The fresh rolls don't include protein but are beautifully presented with a perfect crisp. Every curry we've tried is bursting with flavor--small portions, but still satisfying. The owner has an old-school, curt demeanor, balanced by his charming Thai wife who always makes us feel well taken care of. The atmosphere is cozy and laid-back 3 for small portion size.

A tiny restaurant with just a few tables, but very worth the visit. I'm here visiting family that live on the peninsula and they all insisted we needed to come eat here and can confirm: Everyone needs to visit. Nina's food is authentic and very well seasoned, which is comfortable for every palate (my youngest brother is picky and still finished his kapow beef). Everything was made very well and even if I'm white as a sheet it didn't land as too spicy, so I think anyone would enjoy (you can choose your spice level). Myself, my mom, and my 15 year old siblings all finished our plates. Yippee! Go if you can!

Chef Nina has a dish called Beef Wow Wow that is simply amazing; it is her own creation so you cannot order this in any other Thai restaurant. They are currently closed on Wednesdays. If I am driving through Ninilchik - we either stop and dine there (we buy a bottle of wine at Three Bears and take it with us) or we order it to go. Fantastic food!

Delicious dessert! A fruit flavored gelatin with yummy ice cream.

So grateful for a yummy place to eat in all of the Kenai Peninsula / Homer area. I cannot emphasize how hard it is to find good food around here, let alone delicious and authentic Asian food. You Yelpers that have been around here, must know that. There are a few gems down this way but good food is SO hard to come by when I'm here. I've literally tried every food joint from Soldotna all the way to Homer searching for food that satisfies my belly and is worth the money. It's scarce. Anchorage is terrible as well. Plus things are usually really really expensive for mediocre or terrible dishes because of location. I'm from Portland, Oregon where good food is on every corner so finding food in Anchor Point area is rough. Last summer we drove by this spot all the time but never stopped for some odd reason...finally this visit, I was like let's go. We must give it a go and support our fellow Asians, lol. Glad we did. The husband and wife are kind and friendly. Despite the husband saying he was tired and grumpy. Haha. What a jokester. He was great. The wife is Thai so you are getting authentic dishes that are made with love and care. They're not cutting corners because their restaurant is in a small town in the middle of nowhere like a lot of places around here sadly do and then charge folks outrageous prices. They have all the legit spices to kick up the heat. I hate going to 'asian restaurants' and the only additional spice they have is sriracha. Nope, they had the real deal spice tray on the tables with fish sauce, peanuts, dried chili Thai flakes, and Thai peppers/fish sauce etc. I recommend the pad Thai with shrimp and the Pad Krapow (Stir fried basil chicken). We ordered a second round of both of these we dishes. Little touches like infused cucumber and lemon water was lovely, it's the little things that make the whole experience great. Chatting with your customers and making them feel welcome is something that should be standard but so many people don't extend that kindness but the owners here did. Next time I go, I am going to do the curries and can't wait to showcase photos of that deliciousness. Looking forward to trying all of the dishes. Thank you for opening up a delicious Thai restaurant in a small town that shouldn't forget what quality food and service means. I also think Rick mentioned they close on Wednesdays so make sure to give them a ring before heading down to make sure they're open. Thanks again! I'll be back soon and my family that lives in Anchor Point have found a new fave food spot. The two little ones (9 and 11 year olds with lots of opinions to give, lol) gave it an A+ and two thumbs up. And they're tough critics to make happy.

Worth the stop!! We bought a cabin here in Ninilchik and decided to try out Keen Kow finally. Nina throws down in that kitchen!! Our food was made with super fresh ingredients and absolutely delicious!! You'd never guess that such an amazing Thai food spot would be located on the side of the highway half way between Soldotna and Homer, but it does. You can tell her and her husband take pride in their restaurant. The staff are super friendly with an awesome vibe throughout. The decor inside is super cute too. Plus you can see into the kitchen from basically all the tables. It was cool to watch Nina in there cooking up delicious food while waiting. I had the dish called WOW WOW. And it was definitely worthy of that name!! Steak pieces, mushrooms, green onions, and cilantro sautéed up in a scrumptious sauce. White rice with roasted sesame seeds on top served on the side. I could of been guilty of saying, WOW!! WOW!! a couple times while eating the ENTIRE plate. Which is crazy because I can never finish my entire plate. But it was just that good!! My wife had the Pad Kee Mao. Wide noodles, chicken, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, onion & Thai basil. Of course I had to steal a few bites, and boy was it tasty!! Again what really nailed it was the awesome flavor and how crisp and fresh the veggies were. We had egg rolls for a appetizer. The egg rolls themselves were allright, but the homemade sesame sweet & sour sauce that was served with it was phenomenal!! Keen Kow is an amazing gem here in Ninilchik. And I can't wait to go back!!

We started with apps- the Fresh Rolls (vegetarian/vegan) are done beautifully, but the star was the cilantro herb dressing/dip on the side was amazing- I tried to get the recipe but they weren't giving it up! I'd buy it by the bottle! The crab Rangoon were enjoyed (I don't eat them but two of the diners ate them all and loved them). The steam pork dumplings were delicious- tender, flavorful, not gummy at all. Light but filling! For main meals- Clear Tom Yum soup with shrimp: excellent flavor! Lots of shrimp and mushrooms and the perfect balance of heat and flavor. I adore good Tom Yum and struggle to find it on the Peninsula but this is one of the two best I've had worldwide. Pad Chow Mein- we got one chicken and one pork. The meat was a touch dry, but there was a decent amount of nice, light broth/sauce in the bottom. The noodles were perfect and tons of great veggies. Pad Prik Gluer Tofu- I'm not a tofu fan and even I loved this! The crispy shallots/onions were amazing (also needs to be sold by the buck!) and overall just killer flavor. Garlic Chicken- this one has some allergies so they made sure to leave off soy/gluten for us. The fried garlic on top was wonderful and the perfect texture addition, and everything was fresh and steamed perfectly. The Thai Iced Teas were fantastic as well, rich and creamy and still light. A simple Jasmine hot tea worked nicely for the rest of us. We will be back and will definitely be bringing friends. Large portions, excellent quality and great service- The whole Peninsula needed this place!

It was flavorful, hot and exactly what I wanted. Homer is killin it!

The buffet was posted as just a few cents below $20 without including drinks or tax and Tip. Three buffet dinners with two tea's and a soda cost $83.00 with tax and $10 tip. I am always conflicted the amount to tip when the server brings the drinks and clears the dishes. I normally since covid tip a minimum of 20% or higher for exceptional service. But at buffets I usually tip around 10%. I never file to tip even at sandwich, pizza or ice cream shops. They have a large seating area with both booths and tables. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor up a stairwell or an elevator. If stairs are difficult for anyone in your party like me. Don't fall for the colorful sign and arrow pointing you to the stairwell. The hot food line had on soup and several Asian dishes that one person slowly added food to the empty or alslmost empty dishes. Most of the dishes were over cooked or hard to identify. None of them serving pans were ever close to full. Anyone that follows my evaluations knows that I love good food and do my best to b positive and fair. Sometimes you just have to be brutality honest when its earned. We may have caught on a bad Friday night and they were fifty percent busy but I don't it. Read other reviews and decide. I just couldn't recommend them unless they were the only Resturant open and you hadn't eaten in several days.
