Love the food. The pizza and salads are my favorites. They have vegetarian options which I like.

The food here is always good I'm never disappointed when I go. That staff is friendly and helpful. To enjoy the experience you need to go before the rush because around 5-7 when dinner time hits don't expect a table without a wait. We went earlier for dinner and we were sat promptly and served quickly which made the experience way better as we were always being catered. This restaurant might have been the worst restaurant I have ever visited. The food was so horrible it made me download yelp just to give it a bad review. I came in ordered a pizza, crab, trio dipper, and cheesy bread. They were all horrible and the service was terrible. Our waiter being passive aggressive to us every chance she got. The crab was horribly seasoned and tasted like it was an imitation. Honestly, it could have been seasoned better, and I'm not saying I'm a chef, I'm saying the chefs in their back had their eyes blindfolded and hands tied behind their back. The pizza was horrible overly greasy for the amount that it cost, the crust was horrible, and cheese tasted like they got it from a pregnant guinea pig. The aesthetic was terrible inside of the restaurant. It looked like they had a toddler select the color palette and everything else that had to do with it. For Alaskans this might've tasted like food handed down from god this is mainly because there is no competition around here. I guarantee if I start a restaurant around this area it would be the best thing they have ever tasted. This is mainly due to every restaurant including this one using one spec of salt and pepper per dish. I'm surprised at this because there is a whole body of salt water around them. The portions were rationed to the point where I could've believed it was gourmet but as soon as I remember where I'm at I instantly want to leave. When I was leaving I looked inside the kitchen and I did not see a single adult. All the cooks looked extremely young to the point where I believe they were exploiting them for their labor. 0/10 never come here save your money. read more

We ordered the 18" pizza, half carnivore and half pineapple and ham. Now, I know pineapple on pizza can be a hot topic--some love it, some don't. My wife's a fan, but I'm firmly in the 'no pineapple' camp. Still, to each their own! We decided on pickup since the wait for a table was over an hour, but our order was ready in just 20 minutes. While I can't speak to the ambiance, the order process was seamless, and the gentleman on the phone was super friendly. The pizza was hot and ready on time, which was great! When I opened the box, I was greeted with what looked like the perfect pizza. I apologize in advance for the photo--two slices were already missing because I couldn't resist trying it first! The crust was excellent--crispy, thin, and with a firm texture. The outer edge had that beautiful bubbly look that you'd expect from a classic wood-fired oven. When I took a bite, the cheese stretched just enough without pulling off all the toppings, which was a pleasant surprise. The carnivore half was full of savory, umami flavors that blended perfectly with the chewy, slightly smoky dough. You could really taste the wood-fired oven in each bite. Overall, this was easily the best pizza I've had in Alaska! I highly recommend giving their food a try. While we didn't get the chance to dine in--though I'm sure that would've enhanced the experience--I'm giving it 4 stars simply because we missed out on that part of it. read more

I hadn't visited Homer in yeeeears and to my surprise there are a lot of highly rated places here. One on our list was Fat Olives. We got the Olive Special pizza and it was verrrry good. The crust is just like (MT in Anchorage) chewy like a dough but light and airy. It had cream cheese, mozzarella, pineapple, fresh tomatoes pieces, an olive tapenade, and garlic. I didn't taste any garlic and we went with no jalapeños. Even though there is no meat on it, it was very good. The creaminess of the cream cheese with the sweet pineapple and the taste of the olives which were finely chopped green and kalamata, was so good together. We got an 18" and were able to do half and half so we got half olives special and the barnyard which was chicken and bacon. Place was small with a few tables where the bar was and the service was prompt and just the right amount. Was 26.50 for a 18" plus tax not too bad a price overall. read more

Was highly recommended by everyone when I told them I was going down to Homer. Happy to come down and check it out. The pizza was delicious. My cesar salad was also excellent! My dad ordered the Maui Zowie pizza and his thoughts were it wasn't a good combo of toppings, he also got the tomato basil bisque soup and he said there was no basil, besides two little pieces on the top. I've known about Fat Olives since I moved to Alaska some 9+ years ago. Why am I just now reviewing them? Because I just now visited them. Why did I just now visit them? I honestly don't know. Maybe because I'm not in Homer all that often? Why am I not in Homer all that often? Because you need to take a boat if you want to hike anywhere! Moving right along: this place is great. I think I was also worried that is was "too fancy", but, it's just the right amount of fancy. All the dishes are thoughtful and well-prepared. They lean on the traditional side of cooking but, just a little bit. I got the steak, and it was both better and, surprisingly, cheaper than a similar dish in Anchorage! The mound of potatoes was MASSIVE. My only qualm is that they were a bit lukewarm in temperature. read more

Fat Olives was an unexpected treat in Homer, Alaska. It is a casual restaurant with table service and friendly staff. I started with a half dozen oysters right out of the Bay of Ketchican. They were served with a very nice dipping sauce, sliced lemons and Tabasco. My main was the cipollini, which was crowded with shrimp, scallops, muscles topped with a huge serving of grilled salmon. All of this over a base of rice. The tomato broth was lukewarm, which was odd as the rice, sea creatures, and salmon were all hot. All in all, it was a tasty dish that I enjoyed. I saw several salads and pizza delivered to nearby tables, and since I didn't try those, I cannot comment on the taste, but they were a great feast for the eyes. Excellent pizza joint! A waiter from another restaurant Recommended this spot even though we were asking about Fish n Chips!! So you know it's good if the locals eat here. We ordered a Large Carnivore pizza for the 4 of us. It was truly 18"!! It came out very hot and easily fed all 4 of us. Sadly I found the crust to be a little too floppy and difficult to eat by hand when I folded it. And I wished there were more of the meat toppings. But nonetheless, I had 2 slices after a day of fishing and my belly had no complaints. The Caesar salad was delicious and the dressing was just perfect. Not too heavy and not artificial tasting. We arrived in Homer late afternoon, this restaurant had good reviews and was in walking distance of our hotel. The hostess greeted us immediately and let us know there would be a 10-20 minute wait. We said okay, so she gave us a buzzer and the menu. She also offered to bring us drinks and put the charges on our table tab. We sat down in probably 10 minutes. Our waitress came right over and took our order. We got a Caesar salad to split (good thing we split it, because it was way too much for one person). We also ordered a pizza with pepperoni, extra cheese and an olive tapenade on the side (I like olives on my pizza, but my spouse does not). The salad was tasty, but maybe needed a bit more dressing. The pizza was hot and good. The crust was perfect, the sauce was spicy and the pepperoni and cheese were great. We also tried the Homer Irish red ale draft, which was very good. Food overall was very good. Service was up to par. Ambience was minimal and noisy due to almost everything being a hard surface. Apps were very good. Pizza and the seafood pasta were great and the pork chop was only slightly overcooked. My wife and I had the seafood stew. Not a hit . More of a miss. Was way too salty. And it had heat but wasn't real spicy like the menu suggested. Since we are from out of state we in all probability will not return. If we we in state would give them another chance. Came into Fat Olives for dinner. It was pretty crowded and we ended up at a small table near the window. The tables has a lot of "stuff" on it (salt pepper cheese) and drink menu. We ordered two drinks a pizza and cheese bread. The cheese bread is the same size of the pizza so our table didn't have any space for the 2 pizzas essentially. Being next to the window after sunset was unpleasant as people don't have the common courtesy to turn off there headlights. As we are trying to have a nice dinner a car parked for a good 15 minutes waiting to pick up a pizza they called in. It was pretty frustrating with the headlights right at our face level. I wish people were more considerate of what they're doing. Our server was absolutely fantastic and the food was super delicious. We will come back next time in Homer - and will request a table away from the window. read more

Busy place on a rainy lunch hour, which is always a good sign. Pizza seems to be very popular and looks delicious. We were a party of 6- one person ordered a calzone and really liked it. I had shrimp and scallops with a side salad and it was good. Reasonable portions and price. The bowl of mushroom soup with bread was really nice though. Hardy bowl of mushrooms and veggies. If I could give half stars, it would be 2.5 rather than 2. The menu was a bit lean though overly ambitious for the chef. Service was solid though the pacing in bringing the plates was off. Let's start with service. We were greeted warmly and promptly. Drinks were offered, ordered and served timely. Nothing truly stand out as unique in the drink menu, mostly canned cider, beer, and soda. Nothing original nor unique. Still, solid basic drinks. One thing that we did appreciate, our water glasses were never left empty! That's a big deal for us. The serving of the food was rushed. We were not finished with the apps when the entrees were served, after, maybe at most, 5 minutes from the apps. Way too quick. Okay the food. Apps first. The Alaska Sampler and the Scallops with Shrimp. The scallops were tiny though tasty. Well seared, firm, well seasoned. Same with the shrimp. Best part of the entire meal. The Alaska Sampler was decent. The reindeer sausage was great and the chutney was a close second. Everything else seemed pedantic. Not horrible, just not inspiring. As for the entrees, two of us ordered the steak (sirloin), one of us the carnivore pizza, another the shrimp and scallops over rice, and lastly one of us the Cesar salad with chicken added. A very mixed bag of results! The steaks were tough and the overall flavor bland. The mashed potatoes were rustic mashed. The veggies were sautéed green beans. What was very off-putting was the decision to plate this with a gravy/sauce better suited to a chicken pot pie. Think celery and carrots in what tasted like a chicken based gelatinous mixture. The flavors absolutely did not fit the steak or the overall dish. Way too ambitious! The pizza looked amazing on the surface though was watery underneath which led to a mushy crust. The salad was very tasty and fresh. Can't really go too wrong with a salad. The shrimp and scallops over rice were the only dish that truly seemed to come together. From start to finish, 25 minutes. Yes, 25 minutes. Felt like a fast food restaurant in terms of timing. The food just seemed like someone was trying too hard to stand out, be impressive, and served to flatter the chef's ego. One dinner patron at a neighboring table was overheard to say, "if this represents haute cuisine in Homer, then they would go crazy over a Chili's here!". Yes, that would be about right. read more

I did not expect such good pizzas in Alaska, and in Homer, no less! The dough had the right amount of chew and thickness, the toppings were fresh and the ratio of sauce, topping, and crust was just right, in my opinion. They tasted of a legit pizza oven. They offered a 12 inch and 18 inch, both are bigger than the stated size. The ambiance is open and casual. Service was excellent. Our server was friendly and accommodating. These people have no clue how to make a pizza, always thin soggy crust, overly greasy and undercooked, a sad excuse of a pizza indeed. Food: Soggy, doughy pizza. I remember this place was a rising star in Homer for years, offering us young folks hope that Homer was on the road to improvement, offering affordable and delicious pizza by the slice to hungry high schoolers and young adults out looking for something between Don Jose's and Cups Cafe in terms of price and quality. I was excited to dine here once again; many fond memories came flooding back as we walked in of friends and classmates making their start here waiting tables and working the pizza oven. We enjoyed meeting her and her wine recommendations! We started with The Trio for an appetizer, garlic ricotta, olive tapenade, smoked salmon dip served with warm flat bread. Excellent!
