Half carnivore and half pineapple and ham. Missing two slices because we ate it.
    Ralph E.

We ordered the 18" pizza, half carnivore and half pineapple and ham. Now, I know pineapple on pizza can be a hot topic--some love it, some don't. My wife's a fan, but I'm firmly in the 'no pineapple' camp. Still, to each their own! We decided on pickup since the wait for a table was over an hour, but our order was ready in just 20 minutes. While I can't speak to the ambiance, the order process was seamless, and the gentleman on the phone was super friendly. The pizza was hot and ready on time, which was great! When I opened the box, I was greeted with what looked like the perfect pizza. I apologize in advance for the photo--two slices were already missing because I couldn't resist trying it first! The crust was excellent--crispy, thin, and with a firm texture. The outer edge had that beautiful bubbly look that you'd expect from a classic wood-fired oven. When I took a bite, the cheese stretched just enough without pulling off all the toppings, which was a pleasant surprise. The carnivore half was full of savory, umami flavors that blended perfectly with the chewy, slightly smoky dough. You could really taste the wood-fired oven in each bite. Overall, this was easily the best pizza I've had in Alaska! I highly recommend giving their food a try. While we didn't get the chance to dine in--though I'm sure that would've enhanced the experience--I'm giving it 4 stars simply because we missed out on that part of it.

    Olives special pizza

I hadn't visited Homer in yeeeears and to my surprise there are a lot of highly rated places here. One on our list was Fat Olives. We got the Olive Special pizza and it was verrrry good. The crust is just like (MT in Anchorage) chewy like a dough but light and airy. It had cream cheese, mozzarella, pineapple, fresh tomatoes pieces, an olive tapenade, and garlic. I didn't taste any garlic and we went with no jalapeños. Even though there is no meat on it, it was very good. The creaminess of the cream cheese with the sweet pineapple and the taste of the olives which were finely chopped green and kalamata, was so good together. We got an 18" and were able to do half and half so we got half olives special and the barnyard which was chicken and bacon. Place was small with a few tables where the bar was and the service was prompt and just the right amount. Was 26.50 for a 18" plus tax not too bad a price overall.

Was highly recommended by everyone when I told them I was going down to Homer. Happy to come down and check it out. The pizza was delicious. Delicious and was delicious again a few hours later and delicious again the next morning. Highly recommend The olive special pizza. It was fantastic. How can you go wrong with cream cheese, pineapple, and olive spread! We opted out for the jalapeños. Place was clean very nice not too crazy busy on a Monday night.

I've known about Fat Olives since I moved to Alaska some 9+ years ago. Why am I just now reviewing them? Because I just now visited them. Why did I just now visit them? I honestly don't know. Maybe because I'm not in Homer all that often? Why am I not in Homer all that often? Because you need to take a boat if you want to hike anywhere! Moving right along: this place is great. I think I was also worried that is was "too fancy", but, it's just the right amount of fancy. All the dishes are thoughtful and well-prepared. They lean on the traditional side of cooking but, just a little bit. I got the steak, and it was both better and, surprisingly, cheaper than a similar dish in Anchorage! The mound of potatoes was MASSIVE. My only qualm is that they were a bit lukewarm in temperature.

Wow what an amazing experience! Food was amazing, clean Resturant, exceptional service, waiter was awesome, loved the soft music they play, full bar, and look at these dishes!!! Alfredo was on point and the teriyaki burnt ends were soooo good We will be back!

Fat Olives was an unexpected treat in Homer, Alaska. It is a casual restaurant with table service and friendly staff. I started with a half dozen oysters right out of the Bay of Ketchican. They were served with a very nice dipping sauce, sliced lemons and Tabasco. My main was the cipollini, which was crowded with shrimp, scallops, muscles topped with a huge serving of grilled salmon. All of this over a base of rice. The tomato broth was lukewarm, which was odd as the rice, sea creatures, and salmon were all hot. All in all, it was a tasty dish that I enjoyed. I saw several salads and pizza delivered to nearby tables, and since I didn't try those, I cannot comment on the taste, but they were a great feast for the eyes. Check it out if you're in the vicinity.

Pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese

We arrived in Homer late afternoon, this restaurant had good reviews and was in walking distance of our hotel. The hostess greeted us immediately and let us know there would be a 10-20 minute wait. We said okay, so she gave us a buzzer and the menu. She also offered to bring us drinks and put the charges on our table tab. We sat down in probably 10 minutes. Our waitress came right over and took our order. We got a Caesar salad to split (good thing we split it, because it was way too much for one person). We also ordered a pizza with pepperoni, extra cheese and an olive tapenade on the side (I like olives on my pizza, but my spouse does not). The salad was tasty, but maybe needed a bit more dressing. The pizza was hot and good. The crust was perfect, the sauce was spicy and the pepperoni and cheese were great. We also tried the Homer Irish red ale draft, which was very good. This was a great choice!

Excellent service and great tomato Basel soup. Great portion, served with bread. Had it twice when I was only in Homer for a week.

That restaurant was…read moreabsolutely exceptional, and when they were at this original location they served wood fire pizzas, and some sandwich options. Homeslice's menu is now essentially that portion of their Little Mermaid menu with a few additions like appetizers & salads. While I'm happy to still have a piece of the Little Mermaid available when I'm down in Homer this restaurant no longer holds the same "wow factor" especially since it's mainly a pizza joint now. This is a seasonal restaurant only open mid May-early September. The pizza is pretty good. The crust is flavorful, and it's got an abundant amount of toppings. But, the pizza can be a bit dry. The crust to topping ratio isn't well balanced. There's basically an entire breadstick as the crust. While they do put a lot of toppings it always seems to be lacking sauce so some bite can be dry. It's sadly not my favorite pizza spot in Homer (of which there are now many--it's kind of becoming oversaturated). The pizzas are all what I would consider California style with some out of the box toppings. They only find in 1 size--12 inches, which is pretty much a personal pizza. We ordered the Thai chicken pizza, sliders & ahi tuna poke. The ahi tuna poke is exactly what used to be served at the Little Mermaid. It's one of my favorite dishes in the state, and is so delicious and fresh. The sliders are also very good. They're little smashed patties that are well seasoned & flavorful. They also have some great crinkle cut fries & house made ketchup. They have desserts, but sadly not their famous carrot cake. We got some cupcakes, and a Rice Krispie treat. Dessert was good! The space here is very small & cramped. It's even less seating than when it was the Little Mermaid. There are outdoor picnic tables as well. It's counter service, and they deliver the food to you. Happy to still have a small piece of the Little Mermaid available!

This meadery opened up about a year ago…read moremaking it the second spot for mead in Homer as well as the 5th brewery/winery in this town. The selection is excellent. There are several different varieties of mead to choose from including a barrel aged series. They also have a list of creative mead based cocktails to add to the experience. Since it was my first time here I went with a flight of 3 meads: the dandy lion, elderflower & Berry Berry. I also have never had a barrel aged mead, and I am a sucker for all things barrel aged so I got a taster of the Buffalo trace experimental 2x. The mead here is not overly sweet. The berry flavor was more tart than sugary, and very refreshing. Surprisingly, (but not so much bc the menu has excellent notes on each flavor profile) the dandelion mead was the sweetest of the bunch. My least favorite was the elderflower. I love elderflower in my drinks, but I felt like the mead didn't really showcase the taste of elderflower. I did like how bubbly it was though as I'm all about carbonation. The barrel aged one was definitely my favorite. It was so unique, and you could really taste the whiskey notes in it. Service was fast and friendly. I believe I chatted with the owner or head brewer a bit who was very excited to discuss all things mead. They do have a build your own charcuterie board selection where the cheese and meats are priced by weight. They also offer a food special sometimes. When I went it was a beef barely soup, but I've seen in Facebook they've also done pizzas, oysters, roasted pig etc. they're active on Facebook and post their specials. There was plenty of seating. Large picnic tables indoors as well as a few outdoors. They had some cool lighting, and a disco ball going inside. The music was funky. You could also peak into the barrel aging area. Next time you're in Homer check this place out! They're definitely doing mead right.
