The elusive video store... they are so hard to find nowadays in the era of streaming movies and…read morerental kiosks. When I see a video store, it always brings a smile to my face. This spot used to have another name (I think it was Video Hut), and we found out it was closing at the end of 2018, so we were sad. It's so nice to have a video store withing walking distance. We were happy to know that the new owner of the storefront was not some gentrified expensive business or coffee house, but rather another person that wanted to continue the video store, so we scored. I remember the video store experience from when I was a kid. It's always nice to be able to peruse the movies by hand, and find something that maybe you weren't expecting to be good or interesting. The store is neat, and they offer a selection of not only brand new movies (they get them pretty quickly, and the discs are always kept in perfect condition by the store, so no worries about getting scratched discs like often happens with RedBox or Netflix). They also often have multiple copies, so you can probably get a new release without worrying that everyone rented them out. Alex Video offers both DVD and Blu-Ray movies (sometimes the same movie in both formats). They have a good section of movies for kids, as well as older movies, not just new releases. They also offer movies for sale sometimes. They also have a small selection of games for rent, as well as popcorn and snacks for movie night! The staff is all very nice and friendly, and they speak English and Spanish to cater to the Highland Park community. If you're looking for an actual video rental spot, please check out Alex Video!

A lot to choose from. In addition, the prices are great. The owners are very nice people. It's really great to support a local business. Also, I can't think of any other video store nearby. I will be back again, again, and again. I encourage you all to do the same.

A video store for all of us intellectual movie nerds!…read more Videotheque sells some new and used DVDs and Blu-Rays, but their main purpose of being is as a video rental store and it's like no other video store I've been too. Their videos are organized by how a cinema fan's mind works. By category, by country, by director. John Woo movies in the Hong Kong director's section. Hou Hsiao-Hsien in Taiwan. There's classic porn from the 70s, 80s and 90s. There are Criterion discs. There are John Huston movies, Godard movies, Wim Wenders and David Lynch. Dario Argento horror movies. Sci-fi. Pre Sci-fi. Post Sci-fi. Brazilian. African. Silent films... I could go on and on. If you are looking for an obscure out of print classic film that's not on streaming, there's an 80% chance that you can find it here to rent. There is street parking nearby. The problem? I live in OC and this place is in Mount Washington/Montecito Heights. So if I move down there, I'll be renting some unheard of movies, that's for sure!

Most everything is dvd, but they have blu-ray and 4k too. I liked talking to the staff about their stock. They had some stuff that I'm been looking for rent. They said the they move all the shelves around so they can have a movie night where they bring out a projector. I recommend this place if you got the time. They do seem to have most every that I asked for.

The game coaches were excellent and their professionalism, service and cleanliness were top notch. Guests absolutely loved the snow cone machine (8 flavors) and were served by the game truck team. They provided about 8 chairs for exterior gaming. On a hot day, I suggest putting up canopies for the "extras" you may order from them, plus guests (parents) who might want to hang near the truck. GameTruck: The truck/trailer needs at least 3 car lengths of space in front of a residence. Game selection was excellent across all platforms and satisfied 6yo - 14yo players. Cool mood-setting RGB lighting in the interior. Clean and excellent condition physical space and hardware. Mixed feedback from guests about the A/C but my b-day boy said he was perfectly cool. Service Acquisition: Business was conducted 100% over the phone. Told owner that my discovery and background knowledge was via Yelp. As such, service area limitation premiums $$ and travel fees were not referenced nor communicated in the procurement conversation. The business educated me about them after invoice was provided. Please ask for the distances as they differed - at the time - from the website I was told about on payment day (event day).

6 out of 5. I just found this review by Nick M - and I could not have said it better myself:…read more Nearly impossible to say enough good things about Jen, Oscar, and Rewind Audio! Not only do they consistently have an amazing inventory of diverse, unique, high-quality vintage hifi components (speakers, amps, turntables, cassette decks, etc), but they are also extremely knowledgable, kind, and earnest people who value their customers deeply, and strive to deliver the best possible gear and customer service. Their energy and passion is infectious! Aside from being great people - they offer very fair and competitive pricing on all of their equipment and you can be certain that everything in stock has been inspected, tested, and held to the highest standard - which makes the value nearly priceless. A rare gem in LA! A 'must visit' for vintage audio nerds.

It's super fisted with the regular crowds due to it's location in the shopping center, it's a traffic nightmare, it's not remotely close to anything else (convention center, Japanese hub, etc.), and the shop itself is a bit lackluster. Like, yeah I know we are running out of actual physical bookstores, but this is mostly a trinket, toys, gift store with some books to sell on the side. Manga and graphic novel selection is a bit limited. Staff recommendations were the most casual and entry level things ever like JJK or MHA, no offense. It's neat that it's multiple stories but, again, selection was a bit meh. Also unfortunately ran into zoomers using the escalators to film TikToks on more than one location...
