The Vietnanese food here is good. I tried the bun bo hue and it's tasty. However it's not like mind blowing. The people are friendly and the service is excellent. My friends got pho and they said it was good as well. There weren't a lot of people there when we came in so we got seated right away. I was immediately impressed with the interior. Tons of plants, fish tanks etc. Only one person serving, but she was very knowledgeable and timely. I ordered the spicy lemongrass beef soup and the slow drip coffee with condensed milk. The coffee was neat. I was able to pour in my own desired amount of hot water into the single serve slow drip mechanism. It tasted amazing. I want one now. The soup was very tasty and would definitely order again. Hit or miss, this one. I've been here three times and each time the food has been of questionable reliability. At some point the food was really good and then it seem to fall off. It seems to me that it depends upon the day of the week that you were there. I do like a good pad Thai noodle dish and had it there once. I also had a "not so good" pad Thai noodle dish. Every Summer when we come to Salisbury, I miss the cooking back home. You see, my family and I have lived in Vietnam since 2012. Why might that be interesting to know? Well, because I've eaten more "pho" in Vietnam than you can shake a stick at, and I can attest that Lang and Chu Dong, the owners, manage to serve up a bowl that makes you feel like you are right there. And it's just not the food. Let me explain. I run private back alley tours in Saigon, to let people experience real life and the real hospitality and genuine warmth and generosity of the people. And that was exactly what I felt with Lang and Dong. You couldn't find a nicer couple. I thank them both for not only serving up the best bowl of chicken "pho" I've had outside of Vietnam, but also for making our spontaneous Father's Day choice a memory to cherish. read more

(12/13/2013) Was surprised to find a Vietnamese restaurant, in Salisbury, of all places. Place is obviously family-owned and run. It's like having dinner at your Asian aunt's house, no pleasantries, no smiles, just what do you want, here's your awesome food, I feed you because it's my life's pleasure, but I won't let you know that. Yes, it's slow and unprofessional service, get over it. Salisbury, you have 1 Vietnamese place in an 80 mile radius, don't screw this up, patronize them, the food is worth it. Since I'm a fan of the weird bits, got the #P1 Super Bowl (eye round, flank, soft tendon, tripe & meat balls). Was a nice, large portion, tons of noodles; table salad was some beautiful bean sprouts and fresh jalapeno slice, no basil. Broth was spiced, but thin and wan. I definitely zipped it up with some chili garlic sauce and dried shrimp paste condiment. Also tried the Combination Rolls (a crispy spring roll inside a summer roll with grilled pork), it was freakin' brilliant! The grilled pork was warm, well-seasoned, savory, juicy; the spring roll golden brown and crispy; all rolled in a thin chewy rice paper wrapper with crisp cool shredded lettuce and rice vermicelli. Nuoc Cham here had good balance, not too sweet (could've used a touch more heat). This is a definite local gem for Salisbury. Will def return for some Grilled Pork Cac Mon Bun next time. read more

I used to frequent this restaurant for lunch in between classes at SU. The lunch specials (grilled meats with rice: com ga), and the spring rolls were delicious. Since graduating, I am not in Salisbury as often but have returned once or twice to be disappointed by the deterioration in both the service and the food. One experience, in fact, was so awkward that it completely turned me off from returning. The waitresses were slow (there was two of them with only three tables total), but also aggressive in asking me literally 10 times in a five minute span if I needed anything. I was not provided with utensils and asked for chopsticks or a fork. One of the waitresses proceeded to interrogate me about why I needed utensils. They were very awkward and managed to get my order wrong despite the lack of people in the restaurant. read more

I was very excited to find this restaurant since it had many traditional Vietnamese dishes. I gave one star for the service. Why? I ordered two D7 (steamed broken rice), one B9, and one N6. The American waitress who took order got 3 wrong. She wrote down in Vietnamese that we ordered three Bun (three B9) and brought out two of them. She and the guy (probably the owner) acted like it was my fault!! I never wrote any bad reviews but this is going to be my first. First, we took 2 B9 even though I ordered only one. Second, D7 which was steamed broken rice, I ordered ended up D3 with regular rice!! My total was around $46 and with taxes was around $48. I really did not want to give any tips but I gave $5 because the food was good. Customer service sucked!!! I would never come back here!! I forgot to include the Vietnamese ice coffee that I ordered. I ordered B7 with beef (choice of beef, pork, or chicken), which is labeled in the menu to cost $9.95. However, when I received the check it said I owed $11.95. I questioned this price and referenced the price in the menu; the waitress took the check away and discussed the issue with her co-worker. Then a different girl came to the table and said that the price for beef has gone up and referenced a menu that had a handwritten note saying beef costs and extra $2. I stated that the menu I ordered from did not have this note, therefore I was not aware of the price increase. Her response was that somewhere in the menu it says prices are subject to change, but she failed to find where. Then she walked away and when she came back she said the best she could do was take off $1. I've never had an issue with this establishment before, but the way she spoke to me like she was right and nothing else could sway her makes me not want to come back. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Not only is owner rude as s*** Their customer service and satisfaction is honored by their oldest son I guess.. I ordered an iced coffee at the beginning of my meal, to have it ready by the time I leave... however, the coffee was made after I was done eating and ready to go. Mind you that I was only stopping by for lunch, and had a thirty minute break... Pho is practically pre-made and comes out quick... they had no excuse to be delayed. I was the ONLY ONE in the restaurant!! As if this wasn't frustrating enough, toward the end of my meal under the minuscule pile of sprouts they offer, a fly was underneath on the plate. I'm so disappointed to be writing this review because the food was great the first time we ate here. The restaurant seemed a little dirty but for some good Pho I was able to overlook that. I spilt my time between Salisbury and DC and eat Pho a couple of times a month and I was extremely excited to find something authentic in the Salisbury food desert. When I came to pick up my food there were three roaches crawling on the bar, over the chopsticks, and up the silverware container. Needless to say I lost my appetite. My husband and I decided to check this place out after endlessly searching for a good pho place. Unfortunately there are zero Vietnamese restaurants in our area so we figured we'd give this place a shot since we were in Salisbury for the day. Place was grungy inside. The location definitely has potential but looks as though the owner(s) don't want to spend any money on updating it. Service was pretty bad. There were two people working the front of house but only one of them was doing anything. I felt bad for him as it seemed as though he was trying hard and picking up the other person's slack. Ordered two appetizers. The fried spring rolls and shrimp rolls in rice paper. Took almost half hour to get them and the order came out wrong. I told the guy to just leave the wrong order there and we'd eat it for free, he said ok. Brought out the correct order shortly afterwards. The peanut sauce served with the shrimp roll was tasteless. Used the dip from the other deep fried rolls instead. Was a much better alternative. My husband got the pho, and I ordered the pad thai. Pho was just ok and I found the pad thai to be very strong tasting. Overpowering almost. Not hot/spice wise, just flavor wise which might sound odd but it was. Almost too salty or something. Would not go back due to the interior and service. The food was edible and not horrible but not great. It surly didn't make up for the service. read more

Service was terrible! we waited at least 10-15 mins before someone even acknowledged us, we finally just gave up and yelled "um excuse me" and the lady just held her arm out as if she was telling us to wait. After she came she was like so "what do you want to order" we ordered and she didn't even ask to get us water or anything. Her tone was so rude! I been here for years! And never had this bad of a service but it is not the first time, a visit prior to this was horrible as well. And guess what, the same lady! The food, hmm.. well first the noodles were just too soft it would break as soon as i would pick them up, the meat in the pho was so chewy, and dry they seemed to be over cooked. Oh! For Pho! I am a recent inductee to the world of Pho but I have a very open mind when it comes to an exotic pallet. The Pho here is the best, consistently, I have ever eaten. I have had Pho in at least 6 other restaurants. Most recently in College Park- it just doesn't stand up. If you are a soup enthusiast- If you have an open mind towards spices (not necessarily hot) but spice combinations. You owe it to yourself to try Viet Taste's bowl of Pho. I would suggest the "super bowl" but you have to be even more open minded for that one. Other things on the menu I would endorse; the Korean style beef short rib, and the ginger chicken and the Pad Thai with shrimp (a Thai food staple) was very good as well. read more

First off, the food here is amazing. I love the summer rolls and any of their dishes with beef! The thai ice tea is on point too. Second, their service is beyond amazing. I came in to grab take out with my 10 month old who had a double ear infection. I ordered her some wonton soup because she loves it and she wasn't eating much. Salisbury hasn't always been our favorite in terms of food. While it's a great town if you like the ho hum chains, trying to find many independent little gems had been difficult, even with the wife's best friend living here. This is certainly one of them. The pho was fantastic. The service great and the summer rolls... wow. We did the combo roll, which contained fried pork skin along with the normal fare and, did I mention, WOW! I've never had anything like this and the crunch certainly added a new dimension. Both of us commented that we could make a meal out of just this. After a number of visits over the past several months, my infatuation with this place has grown somewhat tepid. While the food is still excellent, the service is inconsistent at best. The older woman at the restaurant seems to have little interest in providing anything that can be considered customer service. She takes orders, occasionally delivers them (though often not all at once), and is generally difficult to find when you need her. The younger fellow that I've seen working there is friendly when serving tables. However, I recently had an annoying experience where I phoned an order in to him, he simply forgot to pass it on to the kitchen, blamed the kitchen for being slow, and then finally admitted that he never placed the order when I confronted him about it. Oh, and there are children, presumably kin to the owner, frequently cavorting around the restaurant noisily. This restaurant is ripe for an episode of Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares. The food is good but the atmosphere and the service leave a lot to be desired. It's small wonder that the restaurant isn't busier despite the excellent food. read more

Oh, man, Salisbury, you don't know how lucky you are. I'm a lifelong Eastern Shore girl-turned-Philadelphian, and I have to say I'm surrounded by great Vietnamese in the City of Brotherly Love. Viet Taste is just as good as the Vietnamese I've had in Philly-- if not better in some respects. I had the vegetarian pho and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. Rich, flavorful, clear broth, fresh vegetables (and lots of them), and crisp fried tofu. In my experience, most Vietnamese restaurants either half-ass their veggie version of pho, or simply don't serve one. This was a real treat. My dining partner had the vermicelli with spring rolls and grilled chicken, and raved about it as well. The service we had was great-- almost too attentive at times! My only complaint is the vegetarian summer rolls-- tofu was great, but there was no cilantro or Thai basil in them at all-- just vermicelli, iceberg, and tofu. Weak. Anyway, I'll definitely be back here the next time I'm home. I loved Megan's Noodle House, and I think it's safe to say I love Viet Taste even more!! read more

Viet Taste is one of my favorite places to eat in Salisbury! It's perfect for all of my random cravings. I rotate cravings between Pho, Curry and Pad Thai. They have all that and more and it's great quality food. I usually order take out, but I have dined in a couple of times. The service was a tad slow, however, the delicious food was worth the wait. Hard to believe this place exists in Salisbury! This is one of the best and most authentic Vietnamese/southeast Asian restaurants I've ever been to. Lots of places Americanize the cuisine and make it less spicy (read: less flavorful). Viet Taste is not one of those places. I got the Basil Chicken, and boy was it spicy, but it was amazing. My girlfriend got the chicken and broccoli which was great too. For an appetizer we had the spring rolls which were spring rolls. I also ordered a Thai iced tea which you can't go wrong ordering to cool down your meal. Atmosphere is wonderful. Wood floors and green accents. Clean and modern. There's a solo TV so you might catch the game if sitting in the right area. One negative was that the owner's child was running around out of the back area and yelling. This happened twice during our meal, but the owners quickly took care of it and earnestly apologized for disruption. Definitely not a reason to skip this place though. If you want a real Vietnamese dining experience with a nice and clean atmosphere, come here. If you're new to southeast Asian cuisine, come here. If you're sick and tired of standard American Chinese food, definitely come here! UPDATE JANUARY 2013: I had to downgrade this place to 4 stars for the simple reason that the last two times I've eaten-in, I've had near atrocious service. The older South-Asian lady waited on us, if you could even call it that. She came over, took our drink and food order, dropped the food off, and that was the LAST time she came over to our table. No refills. So check-up. DID NOT EVEN COME TO GET DIRTY DISHES OR BRING US THE BILL. It almost seemed like a joke. We had to get up and go to the "bar" and request the receipt. We sat back down, and she never came over to get it. Again, we took it up, paid, and left. If you come here, make sure she doesn't wait on you, or get take out. This review is for the "new-to-Vietnamese-dining" as well as those of you who have had the pleasure previously. We visited yesterday afternoon, looking for a place called Megan's Noodles, another Vietnamese restaurant which Viet Taste apparently replaced. Things were positive from the moment we walked through the doors. Not sure what went wrong with the service in two of the previous reviews, but we were greeted immediately, led to a booth in a nice quiet corner and our server, who is the son of the owner, was attentive, gracious and informative throughout. The room has apparently been completely renovated as everything was fresh and very clean. The menu is extensive and we settled on the crispy spring rolls, wonton soup (not your father's wonton by the way) stir-fried noodles with chicken, beef and pork, and rice vermicelli with grilled pork. All I can say is: WOW. I have eaten, literally, in hundreds of Vietnamese restaurants, several of them award winners, in NYC, Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, Washington D.C. and Atlantic City, to name just a few places, and I can say without hesitation that the food in Viet Taste is the best I have ever had. Every dish we enjoyed was layered with texture and spices and bursting with flavor. The food was fresh and clearly prepared to order. I have never had wonton soup this sophisticated and flavorful, and the same can be said for the crispy springrolls. The sauce covering the stir-fried noodles was truly unique and even the rice vermicelli, a relatively pedestrian dish served in every Viet restaurant, was enhanced with delicious coating of fried garlic, which kicked up the flavor two notches. Again, WOW. If you are a visitor to Salisbury, Ocean City (only about a 20 minute ride away) or even as far north as Lewes DE, where we live, this place is worth a couple of visits. read more

I came here merely wanting to try something different and wasn't particularly craving Vietnamese. The menu was overwhelming with all the food choices so I didn't even know where to start. Eventually I decided to get the grilled pork on a bed of vietnamese fried rice, and also the fried squid appetizer with a side of their sauce. The squid was hard to chew, which is typical of squid, but the sauce was amazing. Then came the grilled pork. On one of the menu pages for the Vietnamese fried rice it claims that their fried rice is like no other and is better. Well that statement certainly held true as this was the best fried rice and close to the best rice I've ever had. It went amazingly well with the scallions as well. As a result I cleaned my plate and didn't have any leftovers to take, which is not typical since I usually can't finish everything. Given such excellent food for under $20 I give my experience 5 stars. read more

Coming from San Diego where's there is PHO all over th place, we were SO happy to find this place. It started off good but lately it's been going down hill. Walking in, the place is dirty. There's stuff all over the walls and floor boards and the covers to the booths slip around as you sit down. The bathrooms have always been clean though. We have always ordered the pho. It has always been good but slowly becoming more tasteless and less full of meat, noodles and sprouts. We also order the spring rolls but were initially surprised at how small they are. Probably half the size any other restaurant has served them. The Thai tea is also not made the traditional way. They use half and half instead of condensed milk. Service was always fine for us. We had our favorite waitress who knew us from coming there and she was always really nice and attentive. Lately customer service has gone to shit. The last time I tried calling in an order to pickup, I literally had to call 7! Times. Each time being sent to voicemail(?). Finally they answered. I still had to wait 20 minutes after the time they told me it'd be ready. The food wasn't gross but had no flavor. There was a significantly less amount of chicken and noodles and the broth tasted like it came from a can. This time I ordered just three thia teas to go. Only two had boba since they ran out. On the way home we realized the boba they did put into our drinks was HARD. Instead of being gummy, it was like eating milk duds. I don't even know how that happens?!
