Note with free Green Chile Crumbs.

I've never been to their store but bought their Green Chile (carne seca) on Amazon a few years ago to try. I was immediately hooked on the taste, and how thin and crispy Virgil's version was. Fast forward to Dec 2023, Virgil's is having a sale for Christmas (sign up for their email newsletter), and I buy 4 packs. Quick delivery. I open the box and to my surprise, they included a free gift and a sweet note along with my purchases. What great customer service!

Got my Toilet Paper supply run for my dad and also some delicious beef jerky too!

First time coming to Vigils Beef Jerky shop. I've had their jerky through other retail shops but never actually went to their own place. I saw on their Facebook page that they were offering a case of toilet paper (24 pack) with the purchase of their 8oz jerky. I'll be honest at first I thought it was just a joke gag seeing as everyone is going on a toilet paper hoarding spree so I called prior to leaving to awkwardly ask if it was legit. Sure enough it was. My dad said he was running low on TP so because of all the madness lately at the stores he's been unsuccessful finding some. I figured this was an opportunity to get some and help him out. I know how difficult it's been lately because of the Corona Virus scare. So I figured surprise him and make it easier for him. Plus spending extra time with him even if just for a few minutes was worth the trip. I love my dad! Soon as I arrived there was a line of people walking in after me. They only had 4 cases of TP left that was up for grabs so I grabbed one along with some jerky and headed straight for the register and made my purchase. The staff was polite and friendly. Admittedly I was a bit overwhelmed with the selection of different jerky's they had in stock. Maybe it was also because I was holding a big box and trying to decide what I wanted. It definitely was a tough call. I had not expected that large of a selection. Eventually I settled with the teriyaki flavor. My dad got his toilet paper and I got some tasty jerky! It was a win win! The jerky itself was a little tough to chew. I think because of the teriyaki itself when the meat was cooking it hardened the meat. Once you get past the initial first few bites it softens up and is quite delicious. I recommend if you get the teriyaki flavor breaking the large chunks of jerky up and eating it in smaller pieces because it requires a lot of chewing to soften it up. So expect a mouth full workout. The teriyaki flavor is very rewarding for all the effort. Price wise they are a little more expensive than your domestic Jack Links jerky but the quality makes up for the price. Plus it's local so you know you're getting true New Mexico essence! Next time I'm in the area might hit them up again and try another flavor not as tough on the mouth with less chewing effort.

Made me sick. Found two of the packages that weren't sealed properly. Now I have a huge hospital bill. Thanks Vigil's.

We were buying ground beef here. The price was 1.50 per lb. when we first bought. Great deal and the product was good. Then the price went to 1.99. Still a value so we kept purchasing even though it is a far drive. Today, April 17 2020 the price jumped to 3.49. Why? We checked sams club where we go every day and can buy it there and the price was lower, quite a bit lower actually. We like their product but this is our last trip there.

Best carne seca around. Routinely bring this to friends all over the country. The green chile and butter mesquite are outstanding.

When I arrived, they didn't have my order. Yes, the cut me a roast, but instead if being in and out in 10 minutes, it took about 35-40 minutes. You may not think that time isn't a big deal, but it put me behind on a very tight schedule. So, this year, for Thanksgiving, I had to work, but we (family) still wanted to full meal. I pre-ordered a meal. Again, when I arrived, no meal. It turns out they sold it to someone else. About 30-35 minutes later I was out the door. Okay, they made it right. I get home, and the website said to put everything in the oven to reheat. I set the oven for 350°, removed the plastic wrap and wrapped/sealed in foil, and set the timer for 45 minutes. Ugh! The dressing was dry and bland. The sweet potatoes were grainy and bland, the potatoes ..... well no one ate those as it was like wallpaper paste. The gravy was kinda okay (heated in a pot on the stove top and I added seasonings). The ham..... oh gosh the ham. Before it even went it the oven it was dry and weird-grey looking, so I added a bit of ham broth to the tin and drizzled some honey, then sealed in foil. Nope, still bad. Weird texture, and kinda grey, and dry dry dry, even after it had somewhat absorbed to ham broth. With all that said, I will stop in for their fresh meats and poultry once in a while. I will just never, ever pre-order any holiday meals or meats.

I got ground beef and after I cooked and ate it I was instantly sick and had the most terrible food poisoning I've ever experienced. I had to go to the hospital because my fluids were severely low and I couldn't stop throwing up. I wasn't the only one to experience this because right after eating our dinner my boyfriend also started to feel terrible and he also got food poisoning. I don't know what is going on over there but there needs to be something done about this ! I have never fallen ill in a matter of minutes and spend a night in the hospital because of ground meat . The store works with local farmers and food producers to pass along high-quality foods that are extras. The day I went there were all kinds of fresh meat, veggies, dairy, and lots of other delights, food and nonfood. They have a nice little selection of soaps and other handmade items. I tried the strawberry drinkable yogurt and it was fantastic! Creamy, rich, and full of flavor. I also got some stellar green onions that were the nicest I've seen. Everything was fresh and delicious. The store clerk was welcoming, knowledgeable, and told us all about how the store works and what we could expect. On top of that, it's a beautiful little store with lots of room inside to move freely. I will definitely be back. Although I got quite a few things while I was there, there are a lot of other items that I would like to try. I'm also curious to see what they have next time since the selection rotates on a regular basis. If you want to shop local and support your local farmers and food producers, I highly suggest checking out Bomvida Farms. I've been going there ever since. A few years ago, they added a bakery. It is chock full of delicious cookies, eclairs, cannolis, and you can even get a wedding cake there. Most recently, I went with some coworkers for lunch and ordered the Bella Mozzarella sandwich. Beautiful, thick slices of fresh mozzarella, loaded with tomatoes and basil. The bread was super fresh, and the potato salad was very flavorful. My coworker got an eclair on our way out. I just had a bite and it was divine. The older gentleman behind the counter was courteous and friendly. The atmosphere is laid-back, and the side wall is covered in shelves that contain imported pasta and various other products from Italy. There's a freezer case filled with premade meals and meat. Over the years I keep going back, about once a year: I've had their sandwiches, their pastries, their pies . . . all kinda "meh" and all priced pretty reasonably but not inexpensively. Sandwiches give you a lot of everything . . . except flavor. Pastries are . . . fine. Pies are . . . fine, and kinda small (and not inexpensive, maybe reaching towards pricey); it's the kinda thing you are willing to pay for in order to bring it to a gathering, only to find almost no one bothers to eat it. And so you don't bother. The cookies are pretty good, actually. (And, yes, I know Italian delis - my Italian grandparents brought me to them in New York when I was a child. However, I'm not judging Tully's against these (as in "it's not as good as Back East"), I'm just saying it never really turns my crank.) Today I had a hot chicken, cheese, onion and pepper sandwich, the Carmela. It was a lot of food. But . . . not a lot of flavor. A whole lot of drippy mess in the bottom of my basket, though: water absolutely sopped through the (completely unmemorable tasting) bread loaf and pooled at the bottom of my basket as I ate in. The potato salad served alongside was fine - like what you'd get at Albertson's. The chicken was tender and . . . essentially without flavor, not even salt. There had clearly been a little marinade (I could sense some oregano and maybe garlic in there) but man could this thing have used about five times as much seasoning and then a healthy dose of a vinegar/garlic/oregano dressing on top of it. Bland. Lots of food in that $17 (almost $25 with tip) sandwich, but not a lot of enjoyment. I've had other Tully's sandwiches (both for here and to-go) that were better, but I can't really recall any of them . . . and I _never_ rush back. Like I said, this is a place I think about ("Hey, I'm right nearby; I should try Tully's again!") about once a year . . . and then, meh. To be fair - I believe that I am pretty out in left field on this take: Tully's is popular and always hopping. Get here early unless you want to stand in line. I only had to wait about three minutes to order, but by the time I left at noon this Friday there was a line to order all the way from the counter to the door. In terms of the room, it's a deli. Reasonably well set out with a decent amount of seating set out well, as well as some outside seating that you might want to try when it's not in the nineties. You order at the counter, pay, go get your own fountain drink (they also have some beer and wine, which they will serve you), find a seat and they'll bring it to you. When you're done, you bus it yourself. Pleasant staff - I don't regret tipping, although they don't do much. (As others have mentioned, if you get a cup of water, Tully's generously gives you a decent sized Solo cup - another plus.) It's fine. If you go, at least get yourself some cookies - they're pretty good.
