We happen to cross the Viking drive-in when we were coming back from Spokane and needed to grab a quick bite to eat. We continue our #WashingtonBurgerQuest as we travel around the state, and this was a spot that had been on our list for a while. It's located off the main interstate by about 2 miles, and after stopping here we recommend that you do as well. Just as you get into town (Sprague) this place is located on the left in a building that looks like it's been here for quite some time and is very much a ma and pa type place. There's a marijuana store operating out of a shipping container next-door, some no matter what you're in the mood for, Viet food or wanting to be hungry for food later, this parking lot has a covered. As you would guess, there's plenty of Viking theme running through this place. We grabbed a Viking burger - if you stop here you must get the Viking burger! It's double beef, double bacon and double cheese with all the standard accompaniments on a toasted bun... Anywhere the toast the bun absolutely gets it! We've now tried about 85 places around the state of Washington in a quest for the perfect burger, and this one is definitely a top three. I will tell you this is not what we were expecting, but we were pleasantly surprised by it. The burger was flavorful, not too salty, but not bland. The meat was juicy enough to run onto your hand when you took a bite, but not so much that it dripped on you while you were eating it. That's a masterful burger! The bacon was crunchy, thick and perfectly cooked. The cheese was melted and the toasted bun gave us that little extra crunch when we bit into the burger. The little attention to detail goes a Long way when it comes to hole in the wall burgers! The tater tots and onion rings we're both salad and the chocolate, peanut butter, banana shake was delicious. As has been stated a couple times, we were not expecting to be wild by this place, but were totally impressed by what we had. This is the sort of spot that any burger lover needs to stop at, and it's the sort of place that we will make a point to hit up anytime we're driving through.

Good food, definitely do not have fast service at all. If you need a place to stop and eat, I recommend it as long as you have time to wait.(pretty sure we waited at least 35-40 minutes on our food) Everyone was running circles around each other, no one knew what was going on & everyone who was sitting down had to get up to remind them that they were waiting to order. Although, I believe the price is a bit too high, I understand. I had a club sandwich-super delicious We had a western cheeseburger Deluxe cheeseburger We had 2 sides of fries & a side of onion rings(super small portions for $4 each) $11 for a shake though(we definitely did not get that because wow, that's expensive)

This is a great local place! My wife and I stopped thru on our way from Spokane airport. The lady who waited on me was incredibly kind and accommodated my request for a lettuce bun. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and it was delicious! Everything about this place was great!

All I can say is don't miss this one! Wow! Probably one of the Best Burgers I have ever eaten! 1/2 lb Bacon Burger with cheese, onions and pickles and came with fries for $12.99. It was cooked perfectly, real slices of bacon, melted American cheese and super saucy! This is one of those places that is family owned and run and it shows! From the greeting when you walk through the door to the quality of food! We try to go out of our way to support small businesses! This was definitely worth the stop!

Just off I-90 in Sprague. This is a GREAT place for amazing food. All their food is fresh, like the fries from cut potatoes not frozen. The prices are very reasonable. This is more of a sit-down than a drive-in. Call ahead for current hours since they change if they have the staff. The breakfasts are good and for lunch their burgers are outstanding. read more

Heading home we wanted to stop for lunch somewhere west of Spokane and support a local business. We had never pulled over in Sprague before so decided to give the Viking a try. You can't miss the place right off the road with its large Viking Burger sign. We were served by a Ryan, a very friendly and attentive young man. Naturally we all ordered burgers, and they came quickly and were totally decent for roadside diner sub-six dollar fare. PS my nine year old would like to point out that there was no gum stuck to the underside of the table. read more

We found this little place when the first restaurant we tried lost power. Even though I left smelling like a fry-shop, the BLT's we ordered were pretty tasty. Could have also been that we were incredibly hungry. Our waitress was very good, although the food prep was kind of slow for what appeared to be a quiet Friday night. Typical "drive in" fair. I absolutely love the old school burger places! Do you know why? Because the service is always great and the food is always good! I am driving back from Spokane right now and I was starving. I initially was going to the gas station to buy a snack but then I saw the Viking! I am sure glad I stopped! They have indoor and outdoor door seating available. A must stop in between Seattle and Spokane! The best service I have had in years. Shelley treated us when we walked in and didn't miss a beat. Every customer, be it dine in or take out, received the same wonderful greeting and service. I had a bacon burger and my friend had the chicken strips. Both were excellent, and the fry sauce was awesome! The shakes are their speciality with hand dipped ice cream. Shelley prides herself on making a great shake. Great food , great service , for those traveling easy on off I90 so don't waist your money at a chain burger joint. Pull off the I90 and kick up your feet and enjoy a Great Lunch served by friendly small town Americans. You'll not regret it. Also gas and convenience store right next door . Sk an all in one stop. Stopped in for some lunch on my to Seattle and thought their food was quite tasty . We had the Viking burger , the bun was nice and soft and it came with pickles and with chopped lettuce and chopped onion Nice size patty. My parents had the fish sandwich and they both enjoyed it . Dated/quaint interior. Prices are high (over $7 for a kids breakfast meal and $10 for two eggs, breakfast meat, hash browns, and toast), and it took over 25 minutes to get our breakfast despite the place having only a couple other tables. While the food looked good, the overwhelming taste was of cooking oil used on the griddle. Quite disappointing, and I would not return. read more

We stopped at this place for dinner on our way to Seattle and we could not have been more delighted. It is a small place in a little town where there are no other options but if you are driving through the area and stoping for food anyways it's worth finding it. There is a no dogs sign but after talking with the owner and staff who are dog lovers, they let us know that as long as we clean up after our pup, he could stay in the fenced area! Would I go back? No. Poor value, two small patties on the signature "Viking burger" not impressive, but typical drive in burger. Flavor was good. Had to get the tots, because they were out of onion rings. Not quite crispy enough, and again not a good value for the portion. Topped it off with a medium milkshake, that was average. The Viking is not only a cool retro burger joint, but they also serve traditional breakfast and dinner. Tasty homemade pizza is also available. A good menu and friendly staff. I don't know what planet one of the other reviewers is from, but the prices are on par with anyplace else in this day and age. Don't pass up the Viking! read more

We wouldn't go back. The 2 burger combos were $31. The burgers were not worth $31. $31 for 2 burgers didn't feel frugal. Frugals is on the same level as Zip's, not very good and expensive. I miss IN-N-OUT, a full meal being $10.

I prefer to get dessert than food here, the large-size onion rings weren't worth the price especially since the bag could've been fuller. If I come back, I'd also prefer to go through drive through to avoid the strong oil smell.
