We've had windows purchased and installed on 2 separte occasions from Bay Ridge Windows. Both times were excellent jobs. Luis does a fantastic job in measuring and supervising the teams. Maryann was great with providing quotes and expectation of arrivals etc. Both jobs were done with care to preserve the integrity of our home. Clean-up was well done as well as carefully. Beautiful job. Prior to these windows being installed we had tremendous drafts and noise. These windows were sealed up so well and sized perfectly that neither is an issue anymore. We have been enjoying the winters so much more as we're not freezing all the time. Can't say enough good things about how happy we are with them. I have used Bay Ridge Windows & Doors in the past to supply and install windows and I was happy with their work. But that was more than 5 years ago and things seem to have gone very wrong since then. I had someone out to give an estimate for the replacement of two windows and a door. Not complicated. I didn't hear from them for 6 weeks. I then called and was told they were backed up and they would get it to me the next day. They didn't. I called again and got it a week later. The estimate was completely wrong. For one thing, it was for French doors instead of a single door. I don't understand how they could get that so wrong when an appraiser came out in person. I wrote back to tell them what was incorrect and to politely express disappointment. I received no reply at all. I'm done with them. read more

A nightmare dealing with customer service. They wasted hours of my time. Rep was never there at the time I was told told to call. They had me assemble information for a proper estimate. Then they never did the estimate. I've never seen anything like this place. read more

I rarely take time out to write these things, but every once in a while, you encounter an organization that just inspires it. I had 3 huge openings that required custom oversized sliding doors, as well as a 2nd floor wall of windows. After speaking with several different organizations, we met with Luis who spent the time to take us through our options and then through several iterations of a proposal. He found a way to spec the job so the mfr felt good about approving oversized glass panels that exceeded their usual size limits...Once the doors and windows were manufactured, his team came over, put down protection, installed the doors (massive) and made sure they were working - sliding locking, etc. They insulated and sealed everything, they added trim I wasn't expecting. They fixed the gaps in the wallboard resulting from new window profile. They agreed without hesitation to replace a window the mfr delivered out of spec. They cleaned up everything, and came back to adjust a few things. They were meticulous, awesome and they were great at communicating. Isabel in the office helped explain and update estimates and dealt with scheduling through my assistant. Truly a great team, and simply an amazing job. Luis, you guys deserve all the best. We want to support local business but... what if they won't let you take their money? We had the appraiser out -- super nice, very knowledgeable guy. Needed an estimate for three basement windows, a separate rear window, and a separate larger (wishful thinking) job involving our back door. We were promised estimates for each piece separately, along w options for new construction windows v replacement. What we received one week later was a simple email from the front office with a $16k estimate. No details. No itemization. No idea whatsoever what the estimate was for or the options we discussed during our one hour appraisal visit. Several email exchanges later, across 3-4 weeks since the business is so slow in responding, and we got a _little_ more information but ultimately decided to just give up. The people working the front office seem genuinely uninterested in answering questions or closing the sale. I don't think it is supposed to be this hard. read more

Bought an apartment with windows installed by Bayridge windows and doors. What a fiasco! 1. Installers did not insulate windows. Wind comes through freely that you could blow out a candle. If I could attach video, I would. 2. In yesterday's storm (March 2nd, 2018) the rain and wind was blowing from the northwest. The rain entered into the apartment from over the top of the window. Couldn't be stopped. Not properly insulated or capped. What a fiasco. If this is typical for their installation, stay away. Make sure you get a contract with a five year construction and installation warrantee. If I have to do this, I would just go somewhere else. I am going to Home Depot. These guys are the real deal. I have some contractor horror stories but I'll spare you. We purchased a door, sidelite, and transom with installation. I am very happy with the product, result, followup, and the level of professionalism. Alexa, Luis & Roberto are true experts in their craft. Our house is over 110 years old, I'm sure it was a little harder considering lines don't line up as they did 100 or even 70 years ago. I would definitely use them again & I highly recommend. I would hire them to do my mothers house! Over the years I've hired different contracts for different things. Out of all of them, these guys so far are the best, it was honestly a pleasure. Had BR Windows install 2 Large Bay Windows today for me. The 2 gentleman who came ( Dany & Wilfredo)were very professional & on point. They were on time,respectful of our home & worked non stop all day. They had the 2 large window units out in no time & new ones installed Within a few hours. They built new Wood sills all around and made sure everything was corked & waterproofed. They cleaned Up after themselves & made sure we were Satisfied at job completion. I will always use them for any window or door needs. Ps I am so HAPPY Windows We Are stood me up to come and give me a quote about a month ago. We had patio doors and a security door installed in December 2016 to replace old, inefficient, and damaged doors. The prices were reasonable and well within what we could afford; the doors came in 4 weeks sooner than we expected which was great. The work was done beautifully by a competent group of installers. We're delighted with the results and would definitely recommend Bay Ridge WIndows and Doors. The only reason I'm not giving a 5-star rating is that when the crew cleaned up (which they did well), they accidentally took 2 pieces of original molding from our dining room. We called the sales office and were told that the pieces were found on the truck; we could pick them up whenever we're in the neighborhood. We live across the borough from the sales office and requested that the moldings be brought back to us as we didn't cause this mishap. The moldings were never returned to us despite 2 more phone calls to the sales office. read more

I recently had my windows to by brick brownstone purchased and installed through Bay Ridge Windows and Doors (BRWD) and I am very happy with the final results. Originally, I contacted a contractor and Anderson Windows to get quotes and recommendation in addition to BRWD. After learning a lot about windows and learning the lingo, I decided to go with BRWD as they not only were local, had the best price, great customer service in dealing with all of my questions and frustrations about the whole process of purchasing new windows, and most importantly were extremely familiar in working with older historic homes. I decided to purchase new construction brick mold casing Marvin Windows after learning that I would not only get new frames but also get the windows installed to the brick and get tons of insulation, a huge plus in a home that we soon learned had no insulation in the windows moldings and still had the old weights from the original windows in the old framing. After ordering it took about 7-8 weeks for the windows to come in and installation of all 12 windows occurred within a week over three days. The crew that came in was excellent, one time, professional, answered more of our questions, and did a great god with clean-up and packing in the much needed insulation to the windows and the original moldings in all windows. The difference both before and after not just in look but in temperature (magically it was now consistent one each floor) in the house is amazing. I highly recommend working with this company as Luis and his team were fantastic. My tips to those looking for new windows and deciding between replacement and new construction on older homes is to go for the new construction. While slightly more expensive, it will save you on heat and energy efficiency. Definitely take your time to learn more about the process and work with someone who will be responsive and answer all of your questions. My only con would be that there was damage made to the original molding in several parts of the windows that was not properly repaired. Luckily, my Dad is a master carpenter and can repair and match the colors properly, something they were not able to do. However, I know that not everyone will have someone like my dad who can do the job well and for free. This also based on past reviews seemed to be something of an issue as most items could have been fixed easier if the original broken piece wasn't thrown away. My recommendation to the company would be to higher someone along my fathers caliber to complete and do any refinishing to damage caused by installation especially in 100 year old + homes where craftsmanship is difficult to mimic as well as color matching. It would make the service truly five stars. read more

I've had Bay Ridge W&D install Marvin windows (which I also purchased through them) on three separate occasions. We put Marvin aluminum clad wood on the rear of our townhouse, and Marvin custom wood per Landmarks on the facade. They provided an architect to make drawings and get the landmarks permit, which was done quickly. Their price was fair, and the installations went very smoothly. Also, they did a nice job on the finish work on the inside; simple but clean. I highly recommend them. My only advice is to be very, very clear about options and specifications. They work quickly and sometimes details slip through the cracks, so it's important the homeowner be clear about what's being done. read more

I dithered about getting new windows for years because I couldn't decide on a contractor/installer. Finally when I couldn't ignore the wind blowing through our old vinyl windows, I read the reviews and visited Bay Ridge. The experience from beginning to end could not have been better. Everyone we dealt with, from the women in the showroom office, to Luis who came to measure, and Dany, Roberto and others who helped with installation, was professional. Luis patiently explained our options. We chose the Marvin Ultimate Clad replacements -- a bit more expensive but well rated and recommended. Bay Ridge stained the interior with a finish that pretty closely matches our wood moldings. It was pouring rain on the day that Dany and co started installation. I was skeptical but they did an excellent job and they cleaned up nicely when done. Most important, the windows look great and no more wind -- we have a warmer house!! I will, without hesitation, call Bay Ridge when time comes to replace the remaining windows. read more
