This is a really cute local spot with tons of character. The inside is meant to transport you to the streets of Italy with the decorations. The main room has music playing which is a little loud when the restaurant is full. The side room is a bit quieter, so if you want to be out of the noise, that is your spot! The food was really good. I had the special risotto with sausage and mushrooms, and Nate had the lemon chicken with veggies. We also shared a chocolate souffle. All the flavors worked really well together. Honestly my favorite part was the wine- the papale primitivo di manduria DOC was so flavorful and full bodied. It tasted exactly as the description. The service was a little slow at first but Filipe our server was great once it got going. This place was very family friendly and tons of kids were there- so this is not quite the date night away from the kids we were hoping for. Summary- I took my mother here- did not disappoint. Worth it. I recommend So it was a last minute decision for Indigenous peoples day dinner with my wife, mother and father. We were sitting at home and wanted Italian and I knew just where to take them. We went to Villa Bella. We got there around 7p and the dinner rush was slowing but it was still rather busy. We were serviced by a very friendly, but busy server. She did a fantastic job and was very accommodating even though we counted 6 other tables of 4 or more guests. The food- fantastic and exactly what you want when you take the family out. Clean tables, clean restroom, clean flowers. Good food- Everyone loved their food Total bill-$208 plus tip Table- anti pasta sicialiano- really a nice treat I ordered a pizza- fantastic brick oven pizza My father, meat lasagna- he finished it which he never does so I was happy My mother, a Cesar salad with salmon that she said was very tasty My wife a salad with salmon on the side. Aside from being one of the few area restaurants with Primitivo wines and cafe corretto on the menu, the food was excellent (we had the porcini risotto and porcini ravioli), the service attentive, and the atmosphere was wonderful -- we felt as if we'd been transported back to our small Italian village and the neighborhood ristorante we frequented. I usualy order the Spaghetti alla Carbonara or the Spaghetti alla Siciliana with Italian sausage whije my wife enjoys the Manicotti. The food is delicios and the portions are just right. If you pair a pasta dish with a salad, it is too much. Warm bread and garlic knots accompany meaks. We have also trued the Bruschetta, a tasty and light appetizr. We have been for lunch, too. I had an 8" pizza and salad. A perfect combination. My wife, on the other hand was disappoirnted in her Parmigiana sub. She found it overcooked. Extremely nice restaurant. This is family and date worthy. The staff here fully understand what good service is. That's not the case at nearby restaurants, and the reason I go here. Comfortable seats, with plenty of room. Parking lot can be unique, yet so is a lot of NOVA. The spaghetti and its sauce wow! Their chicken parmigiana is tasty too. My first visit to this restaurant. We had a large group but the service was efficient and friendly. The food was delicious. My spaghetti carbonara was very tasty and it was all I could do not to eat my weight in garlic knots. The salmon was flaky and tender. Half the group had to go boxes because of the portions. What a pleasant surprise! We happened to be in the Burke area and saw that this place had great Google reviews. I can see why! The complimentary bread that they give you is amazing. We went through two baskets of it (couldn't help it!) Always a spaghetti fan, I tried the spaghetti and meatballs and it was excellent. It had a great sauce and the portion was more than enough. We also tried the chicken parm sub and it was awesome! The salad that came with the sub was top notch as well. The service was fast and friendly and the overall value was outstanding. Beautiful small restaurant with consistently good service. Tends to be very busy and noisy at peak times, so we tend to only go later in the evening, 7:30 at the earliest on Saturdays. The food is consistently great, in particular their pizzas and calzones. Some of the pasta dishes can be a bit heavy on the cheese and not very complex in their flavor profiles. Personal favorite dish is the Trio Gnocchi, but anything on their specials list tends to be fantastic. read more

The calamari was delicious on the sampler platter. The calzones are huge and the dipping marinara sauce was tasty. They support our local lake Braddock high school so we try and support them. We have received two gift cards to this restaurant and have tried twice. Disappointing. Charming interior but tables too tight. Service is generally slow. The food is fair. I had the chicken special last night and it was tough. Too hard to eat really. My wife had a seafood risotto special. Not that great. No dinner salads come with the meals. I've had two pizzas from here since it's a in the neighborhood. Both were carry out, I've never stayed to eat at the restaurant, but the restaurants certainly looks pretty The first time was cheese and pepperoni and.. largely forgettable. not bad but I felt it had way too much salt. That's the one thing that really stuck with me. The second pizza, just now, had pepperoni and italian sausage. Perhaps the last pizza was not their best, but this one was quite a surprise! The pizza is.. wet, that is quite a bit of sauces, and juices. Bold taste of sauce. Italian sausage is good but I don't think it should be a "gourmet" topping and thus a higher price. There's a hint of spicy pepper but can't be sure if that's the sausage, or the pepperoni. The last thing I noticed was oddly surprising: the crust is good! Fresh, thin, with a bit of air in the dough, instead of the dense and chewy crust that I remembered last time. It's just fresher this time. I'm always comparing pizza to my favorite (so far) which is Kings NY Pizza, but Kings has its own issues with delivering to Burke. Villa Bella is not as good as Kings, but.. in a pinch, when I don't feel like waiting, and want something fresh, now? Villa Bella will do. read more

We have been coming to Villa Bella for years but in the last year or so the service here has gone downhill. We recently came here and for the third time in a row we had an order come out incorrectly. Instead of working to correct the problem, the manager is sent over only to ask if we would like to place another order for the item we originally ordered. I do not intend to pay for another meal when my original meal was brought out incorrectly! The managers are rude and do not value the customer. I do not intend to bring my family here again if this is how they do business and treat their customers. read more

The 6 of us, with 3 high schoolers and often going out to eat with other kids friends can add up to 6-9 deep. We frequent places we like and go out often to eat. Not sure who is giving these 4 starts for this restaurant but we were underwhelmed by a mile. We really truly wanted to like it but that's a lot of dishes to try for 6 people and none of us finished and left hungry. Our soup was microwaved, middle hot, edges cold. No flavor. No salt. Mediocre food. I had 6 cheese ravioli which cost about $13, 2 meatballs and 1 sausage which was $5.99. The ravioli was okay, sauce was okay as well. Meatballs were dense with little to no taste, golf ball like and the sausage was extremely dense, with no taste whatsoever I ordered these items because the sausage and peppers i was going to order was $21.95, yikes! Very expensive place for so so food. I'm guessing based on the dense makeup of the sausage and meatballs they are commercially made and purchased frozen from a restaurant supplier like US Foods, etc. I cannot recommend this establishment its overpriced Mediocre food in a decent environment indoors. read more

He made me feel like an idiot because we did not make a reservation and we were putting him out because the kitchen staff was behind. I struggled with giving this restaurant a 2 or 3 and figured it was a 2.5 and rounded up to 3. There were a lot of great things about this place but more negatives than I'd like. First of all we chose this place because it sounded awesome and checked the boxes of everything we were looking for--pasta, pizza, kid-friendly and kid menus. I thought that the restaurant was super charming as soon as we walked in. The skeleton at the bar with a wine glass was cool, as was some kids clothes hung on a fake laundry line next to the wall murals of an idyllic Italian neighborhood. While waiting for the host, my daughter was waiting next to me and the host turned around and walked right into her, slamming her head on leg. He barely acknowledged her or the situation. "I said loudly are you ok? That must have hurt!" He finally looked at her and said what to me sounded like an insincere apology. Luckily she was more surprised than actually hurt. We had also told the host we had 3 kids and 2 adults and he only gave us 2 kids menus so I had to get up and ask for a 3rd. So we were kind of already off to a shaky start. I thought the kids menu was great with so many fun options--butterfly pizza, heart pizza, ravioli, spaghetti, baked ziti, chicken fingers or fettuccine Alfredo. Also they do free kids meals on Tuesday nights, which is awesome! When I asked the waitress if they came with kids drinks she said she was pretty sure they did and I asked what the options were--regular milk, chocolate milk and juice. We chose juice, a kids spaghetti and kids cheese ravioli. I chose the Gamberi wrap and fries. After 15 mins of waiting, a small bread basket shows up with only 3 garlic bread rolls and 1 bread roll for the 5 of us which I thought odd. When the main meal came came, one of my daughters was given a plate of fancy ravioli and it turned out it wasn't the kids one so they had to take it back to the kitchen. The rest of the food arrived and I was worried my daughter would need to wait a long time since they got her order wrong, but luckily it wasn't long at all. The food was terrific, but I had to get up to ask for Parmesan cheese (strange that wasn't brought automatically for this being an Italian place). I also had to get up to ask for ketchup and was ignored. Had to ask a 2nd time and they finally brought some out. None of us got any waters. Service was interesting for the first 3/4 of the meal as I had to continuously get up from the table and walk over to find our waitress. She checked in more towards the end when we were finishing our meal, maybe eager to get us out of there as the 3 kids were being, well, kids! The worst when I got the check and see I was charged for 4 kids drinks. After the kids drank their first ones I asked for refills, and wasn't told it was extra. I didn't even know the first ones weren't included in the kids meals. When I asked to clarify I was told that the waitress told me that they were not included when I ordered, but if that was the case, I clearly would not have ordered them. I was so burnt out from the kids and the long meal that we just needed to get out of there so I just paid it begrudgingly. read more

I was really excited to go here with my friend for a nice dinner. The food looked delicious online! My friend and I came in and it's a very cute restaurant vibe. Were seated immediately even though the restaurant was busy (not full but a normal dinner service); great right? Well we sat at our table and we sat for 20 minutes and no one had come up to us, and 2 other tables had been seated around us and already had some orders in. We flagged the host down as he sat another table and told him. He apologized and went to another member of the staff and pointed to us. Another 5 minutes later and nothing. We finally had enough because we knew we'd be here awhile even if someone came to us immediately after 25 minutes. We went up to the host and returned our menus and told him. He was nice and apologetic but we were frustrated and ended up leaving. Really disappointing because my friend and I were really looking forward to dinner. We ordered a large pizza with a few toppings, a baked ziti, and 3 cannolis. The price for that was nearly $70! I was hoping the food would have gold dust on it for that price, but no. The pizza was good, I will give them that. You don't find much brick oven pizza in the 'burbs. But the ziti was very average and the cannoli shells were greasy, and not fully filled. Perhaps the experience in-person would be different, but it only traveled about 2 minutes, so I'm not convinced. Besides the price, the portions were extremely small. The large pizza is 14 inch, where others will consider a 16 inch a large. We'd been hoping to share the ziti, but it was a child's portion. Truly awful. I ordered the gnocchi trio without pesto, leaving bolognese and Alfredo sauces. Smashing a dry meatball into marinara sauce makes not a bolognese. I'm not sure if it was just an off day or if there's been a change in how they make pizza, but the bread was doughy and bready rather then the thin, crisp pizza I remember from Villa Bella. The sauce was great but that was the only part still good. I compared the undercarriage of of my pizza to some older reviews and there were major differences - no black spots, not as dark / golden brown, etc. Also no air bubbles.
