Recently was taken to Giardino's for my neighbor's 85th birthday fete. The atmosphere was pleasant. The waiter was attentive and courteous. My neighbor's husband ordered the vegetarian lasagna and I ordered the meat lasagna. When my friend inquired whether her spouse enjoyed his dinner he just shrugged his shoulders and grimaced. I found my entree to be bland and it was not savory. I did not even eat half of my dinner; it was that bad. The birthday dessert, which was strawberry cheesecake, was delicious. This restaurant was okay but not very authentic tasting. I had the carbonara pasta and it was decent but I've definitely had better. One nice thing was that the type of pasta could be changed for any entree. However we were told this would be more expensive to do this. They made an error with one of our orders (wrong type of pasta served with it), but they did discount this from our bill. One other thing to note is that the rainbow cake served seemed to be more of a sheet cake and not a true Italian rainbow cake like the one on their menu. A lovely Italian restaurant hidden away in Burke. I happened upon it as I was looking for another place and decided on some Italian food instead. Other than Asian cuisine, Italian food is one of my great loves. And I think this place has a charming interior, good service, and some terrific food. I really only had two things: a small Caesar salad as a starter and spaghetti carbonara. Both were excellent. Caesar salad may sound like nothing difficult, but many places drown their salad in Caesar dressing. This salad had a good balanced ratio and had a good crunchy texture instead of being soggy. And I hadn't had carbonara in a long time, but they do a really good one here. Prices also are reasonable for the quality. I have friends only a couple miles down the road from here. The next time I visit them, I'll suggest we meet here for lunch or dinner. read more

For many years we have gone to Giardino. Last week they outdid themselves with a Celebration of Life for my Fiance. They were totally helpful in service, hospitality and of course delicious food. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by our whole, spontaneous dining experience at this restaurant. The place was packed and yet we were seated promptly. It had a great vibe and smelled of delectable garlic bread. Our server quickly took our orders and it wasn't long before we were visited by Eddie - the wine connoisseur- who recommended a crisp and delicious Chilean Rose. Shortly thereafter our meals were delivered and absolutely delicious! My husband and our friends enjoyed scallops and calamari. We each then ordered chicken Parmesan, eggplant Parmesan, pizza, and a meat lovers dish- and it was all delicious! All in all a delightful experience and we will be back!!! A very tasty meal. Second time here.. not so great. Kinda bad. First, the servers are kids. You're not having a fine dining experience here, more like late night diner. My server vanished right after she took my order. I didn't see her again until she came back later to collect the tip. Spaghetti? Bland AF. I was super disappointed. Not much sauce. It was just bland. What ruined the evening was this huge party that had an area of the restaurant blocked off. LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS. Why a manager did not step in is beyond me. The first time I was here was in the middle of the week for an early dinner, and it was quiet and it was nice. On a Friday evening, it's like eating at Denny's. Damn that sucked. I am absolutely obsessed with everything about this place!! This is one of the few places in this area that when you walk in the door, you are family to them... and you can feel it! The food is to die for and the portions will have you so stuffed that even your stretchy pants will put in extra work! Their chicken Fettuccine Alfredo is so good that it shows up in my dreams! This is our routine "upgrade" Italian restaurant in Burke/Springfield. The food is only excellent as is the service. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity received. Every meal we have received over several years has been worth every penny. They also serve those with restricted diets so all can enjoy their offerings. I enjoy going to local restaurants that are not chains. Giardino is in the Kings Park Shopping Center. Our waitress was great and the service continued to be excellent all evening. Really could not of asked for a better server. We had kids in our group and she handled them well and gave them an appropriate amount of attention. The entrees were good. I thought the lasagna carne was overly saucy. I enjoyed the small Caesar salad. Someone in our group got the Chicken Bryan. They really enjoyed the goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes and white wine sauce with the chicken. The dish looked really good. I was more impressed with the service than my entree. Guardino is a neighborhood Italian spot at the King's Park Shopping Center. It's very cozy and usually crowded, but you can usually get a table. It's a destination for things like students going to high school dances. Bread and olive oil are served as a starter. I like the Spaghetti and Meatballs, always a favorite. This place did a good job of accommodating a big group. We were celebrating a 98th birthday and the servers were pretty attentive even as the party trickled in. The ambiance of the restaurant was lively and casual. There was a young child with the group and they helped by getting her food order placed earlier than the group. The group ranged from 2-98 years old so it hit all the necessary points on that way. One downside was the food. I think it could have been seasoned better. The bread didn't have much flavor even when paired with marinara. I had the chicken parm and the meat tasted good but the spaghetti was a little bland. Got lunch here with my Mom the other day and we had a delightful experience. Our server was Alex who was attentive, polite, knowledgeable, and quick to anticipate what we needed (refills, bags to go, etc). We had the mozzarella carrozza for our appetizer which was delicious. My Mom ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and I got the Spaghetti Siciliana for our entrees. OMG finally a pizza place in Northern Virginia that I can celebrate! The crust was so good. I actually ate it which I never do. I am a pizza snob, having grown up in Connecticut and enjoyed Connecticut, New Jersey and New York pizza. It's been hard for me to stomach what passes for pizza down here. But the brick oven pizza is just phenomenal! And dessert was wonderful too. I had cannolis, my other half had tiramisu - both wonderful. Can't wait to come back and try some of the regular entrées ! I was shopping at giant and came across this gem! I cannot express how much my entire family likes here, these are the things that I love most they are family friendly so toddler is super happy here, I've never waited more than 10 minutes for my food, generous portions, and most importantly, consistent I love that every time I've come here the food is always consistently good and taste the same. The pizza and the carbonara are our favorites. They give bread before the meal so that was nice and olive oil and balsamic vinegar which I like. I got the carbonara and wifey got the clam linguine? The carbonara was yummy and not too greasy. This past Saturday a group of 12 ordered four of their large pizzas. This was the first time that I have ever had their pizzas and I was very impressed. It was 12 adults and it was the perfect amount for our group (also had some salad) only had 3 slices leftover! We tried the following: The carne- all kinds of meats Bruschetta-my favorite! Absolutely horrible experience-from the wait staff to the service to the food. We waited 15 minutes to get menus, another 15 to get drinks and then another 15 to Order. The waitress spent more time looking out the front window than waiting on tables. And this was at 5:30. For 4 people the meals arrived at 3 different times so some were done eating before the last meal even arrived. My cannelloni was filled with unidentifiable meat, grey and stringy. The waitress cleaned off the table, taking the silverware and napkins before our desserts were even ordered. Giardino is a hidden gem in the neighborhood! My fiancé and I decided to give this place a try. It definitely did not disappoint! We were sat down within minutes on a busy Friday night. We ordered from the special of the day menu- salad with sweet potato's and dates, garden pasta, and blackened sea scallops. The salad was fresh and flavor was complementary with the dates and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Main course- the garden pasta was a surprise! The veggies were al dente and super fresh but the main attraction was the marinara sauce with a kick. It left your taste bud wanting for more! The blacken scallop dish was cooked to perfection. The cauliflower mesh tasted like real mesh potato with bits and pieces of cauliflower with extra crunch. We thoroughly enjoyed how the food came out. Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. We also got a chance to meet the owner- down to earth, passionate about his restaurant and food, humble, and personable! My wife and I had dinner at Giardino's tonight and we were blown away at how good everything was. I had a wood fired cheese pizza with bacon and it came out hot and was just as tasty as I had hoped for. My wife had bruschetta for an appetizer which she said was great, and chicken parm for her meal and she absolutely loved it. We used to come to this location years ago when it was San Vito, the decor looked very similar from what I remember, but lots of tables to be found with smiling faces all around. Service was excellent, they constantly made sure our drinks were topped off and to see if we needed anything else. I can honestly say that since moving back to this neighborhood in Fairfax Giardinos is my new favorite restaurant in town! We will be back. read more

Been a regular for many years but that all stops today! I wanted to bring my elderly mom to happy hour so I called first ti make arrangements for seating. I explained that she couldn't get in the high stools and we wouldn't fit at the little two top they have. I asked if we could get a small table right next to the bar.... 10 minutes later on hold, I was told that we could sit outside on the patio and that there were NO ADA accommodations inside. I can't have my mom sit on black iron furniture in the heat but the gal on the phone didn't care at all. It is absolutely outrageous that an establishment wouldn't have the means for an ADA accommodation. It would be one thing if the place was packed, but 90% of the tables are always open between 4-5.
