Ordered a small dinner salad that contained spinach, lettuce, diced tomatoes and walnuts. Had the gnocchi with sausage and zucchini with a alfredo sauce. Out of this world melt in your mouth. Nice little mom and pop restaurant. We were greeted by Sonny and felt very comfortable upon coming in. They make all their own bread, sauces and desserts. We ordered three meals to go, to take a nice Christmas Eve dinner to momma in the nursing home. The menu is nice and the price very reasonable. Loved this place...what a great find while visiting Turlock, Ca...did what I usually do while hitting a town and looked up Yelp recommendations..duh! Good news another success...quiet little restaurant with great decor and plenty of parking in the back. Walked in and was greeted by a very nice lady who immediately say me down at a nice table in the corner. A few minutes later a nice guy comes over and sincerely welcomes me and let's me know about the nightly specials. This btw only made the decision even worse because they have an excellent selection. Finally decided on my choice with a starter of their homemade minestrone soup which should be a meal in itself. That is what I really liked from the start here no skimping on the portions and isn't that what an Italian meal is all about! Anyway this soup was full of fresh vegetables and spices and to be honest might just be the best minestrone soup I have ever had. Then to my mistake I will explain later I decide to enjoy one of their homemade right out of the oven rolls. Now equally delicious, but then came my seafood fettuccine. This dish was piled high with large shrimp, mussels and scallops and the great thing the mussels where already out of the shells. Again no skimping here...this plate was stuffed full of seafood and I couldn't even finish it. So now in a food coma I look across the room and out comes the homemade tiramisu! Jaw drop I need and want some, but remember the bread earlier there is no more physical room left. So somewhat disappointed I get my check and leave but only because tiramisu is the only real desert this non eating sweets person truly enjoys. Maybe next time...but jealous I don't live closer because this is the real deal when it comes to Italian. read more

I love this place! My husband and I went here for our anniversary 5 years ago and now it has become a tradition

My fiancé and I had gnocchi with a cream sauce and spinach. Gnocchi is a personal favorite of mine and can be difficult to master. They're Italian dumplings made with potato or semolina flour. They should be firm and hold their shape in the dish, but melt in your mouth with a subtle doughy texture. The cream sauce was a work of art. It was light and rich at the same time. Full of flavor and just the right consistency and I admit I licked the bowl clean. The spinach was fresh and lightly sautéed in butter and placed atop the gnocchi. The bread was made from scratch, baked fresh for us, and divine; perfect for getting every drop of cream sauce. My dad ordered the gnocchi in a red sauce and that was also perfectly done. It was pretty too. It came in a small stoneware dish, filled with gnocchi, red sauce and covered in cheese. It looks as if it had been in the oven to create and firm crust of cheese over the dish. My Stepmother has a pasta dish, made with the same cream sauce as mine, pine nuts and a variety of vegetables. While my little brother had simple Fettuccine Alfred and both their dishes were hits. All of us cleaned our plates, raved to each other about our dishes, and vowed to be back... often. read more

After developing a craving for Italian food that was aided in part by a random stretch of the drive that smelled of garlic, I figured finding decent Italian food in Turlock might be difficult. Surprisingly, this wasn't the case, thanks to Villa Napoli. The ravioli was excellent, if not a huge portion. The prices though were very reasonable though. It's a nice little family-run place. The waiter did fancy himself a bit of a comedian, but that can be overlooked since the service was good and the food was tasty. read more

Sorry no picture...But it was delicious! The ambiance was nice, Italian music softly playing, you are welcomed with a hug from the owner and they held the door open for you as you left even walked you outside thanking you for dining in their establishment. They also have this hot steaming bread that makes you want more! And the owner will give you more!! I don't really care for Italian food but this place has actually changed my mind. What a fantastic delightful dining experience ~ Absolutely loved dining here for a late lunch. The owners Jo and Ciro were both working and they are the most friendly delightful owners I have ever met at a restaurant. They so went out of their way for us. The food was fabulous. I had the Tortellini Romano, the best I have ever tasted. My daughter had the spinach cheese raviolis in Vodka sauce. They were just perfect. The glass of wine poured table side was filled to the top, you rarely see that these days. Plenty of good bread. We have driven past this restaurant many times on the way to other eateries like Table 26 meaning to stop and give it a try one day so after finding our first choice packed we doubled back to Villa Napoli. That was the best move we've made in a long time. Table 26 has great food but Villa Napoli has AWESOME food! The food and service here is incredible. Authentic Italian quisine at it's very best. Very cozy and relaxed atmosphere and the wait staff are amazing, friendly and informative. I had the Seafood Combination and my wife had ribeye steak. OMG! Hands-down 5 stars. This quaint little restaurant is the best Italian food I've ever eaten (at a restaurant, that is)!!!! I'm Italian and grew up with a very particular taste for Italian food. Agreeing with Mellisa C., if you're into Olive Garden, you're in the wrong place. This is a truly amazing and romantic experience and to compare it to Olive Garden would be a sin. I grew up (since 5th grade) in Turlock and lived right around the corner from this place. I always wondered how they were. When I first came here I found out it was new owners. They had just opened about 3 minutes before I showed up, so the experience was definitely one of a kind. I met the owner and she's the biggest sweetheart I've ever met. My girlfriend and I were greeted with a big hug. On your table you will find bottles of Olive Oil (looks too light to be extra virgin :/ ) and Balsamic vinegar. Combining those together in the traditional style along with Villa Napoli's wonderful bread that you can't get enough of amounts to pure bliss. I ordered my normal- Chicken Parmigiana. It was to die for. The chicken was properly breaded and super moist. My girlfriend ordered the Ravioli Aurora (I think it's called) and it was absolutely divine. Hand-made excellent food at a reasonable price. Those who say any different are mad. The service can be hit or miss, but the nirvana of this restaurant makes any downside worth it. Plus, when you meet 'Mama', you'll fall in love with her! I had the pleasure of meeting her husband, the chef as well. Their vegetarian options abound (alongside more traditional Italian meat selections and seafood), and their wine list is extensive. I would highly recommend the Ravioli Gorgonzola, a favorite of everyone I've taken to the restaurant. The only drawback is their entrees are small by American standards (which is not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion), so be prepared to order a salad. OK, I am a snobby New Yorker who is also Italian and have grown up eating delicious food... BUT I trust Yelp, and I also trust my fellow Yelpers to give reliable reviews of a place. Even when I am in the most remote of areas, which is often, I can find a gem. This, sadly, was NOT a gem. Let me first say that the service was great. The staff is very sweet, and attentive. No issues with that. My issues are with the absolute slaying of food that they call "Italian." The bread that was brought out first was deceiving. It was warm and tasty, and I mistakingly thought the food to follow would be equally delicious. Nope. I ordered the linguine and white clam sauce, and my boyfriend ordered the chicken piccata. Sigh... The linguine and clam was bland, horrible, not tasty in any way. I drowned it in cheese, and that did not even help. It was missing KEY ingredients that make a good linguine and clam. Boxed pasta, canned clams, horrible sauce. I will leave it at that. The boyfriend's chicken piccata (how hard is it to screw up a piccata? It is 5 ingredients for crying out loud!) was missing butter, wine, the lemon was too harsh, there was NO salt, the flour was missing... I can go on and on and on. I digress... I did not expect much in Turlock, but this was just a sad excuse for Italian food no matter where you are from or what you are used to. Get a cookbook, people. I noticed this place the other day while I was riding through Turlock, so we decided to stop in for lunch today. There was a sweet little Italian lady who greeted us and give us a hug, it was really cute. Despite all that, the food left a bit to be desired. I had the veal scallopini and my wife had the pollo de la picconno sp? (some kinda lemon chicken thing), anyhow it was ok I guess.... (not worth the $45 tab, that's for sure) I mean, the food wasn't bad, but I wasn't turnin' flips and shouting VIVA ITALIA! either. Portions were kinda small, too. Pure bliss, this is it. In the outskirts of Turlock,CA lays this little restaurant that has changed my way of fine Italian dining. It all started with my boyfriend and my NYE plans. We definitely wanted a relaxing intimate evening rather than the whole partying out all night. Since reservations were full everywhere else we ended up here and Mama decided to take us into her arms (literally) and gave us quite a welcome with complimentary Bruschetta because we sat in a corner! :) It was dead right delicious. For our entree I had linguine with clams, scallop and shrimp and my beau had lasagna. I haven't tried such amazing food in a long time. The only other place that can compare is a place that exists in San Francisco, so if you're not in the bay are I recommend this place. It's one of the best I've ever had. Now onto the setting. I recommend reserving ahead of time because this place is small and I hear it gets busy. However with it adds the ambience and comfort of home, just NOT at home. Also to note, even with the small busy setting this place is intimate. :) Very romantic and if you're lucky enough to meet Mama you'll be left feeling warmhearted and in the end you'll want to hug her!! Villa Napoli was such a wonderful surprise. We were a group of five who dropped in after a day of business meetings. We were immediately greeted by the owner who hugs each of us and made us immediately feel relaxed. Our server was warm and knew the menu forwards and backwards. The wait staff was attentive and Mamma Jo checked in frequently to assure we were doing well. The restaurant was packed but our food came out quickly. I had a simple spaghetti and meatballs and it was hands down the best I have had anywhere. Most of our group live in or near San Francisco and were very complimentary of the calamari. Everything was microwaved; the bread, lasagna, tortellini, and fettuccini and the food had no flavor. You're better off going to the frozen food section and getting a microwave dinner because at least that way you're not overpaying for poor quality food. Very disappointed!! Turlock is so lucky to have this place. Quiet, cool and romantic. Service is perfect. Our server was happy to inform us that they could make the sauce any wAy we wanted. Extra garlic? No problem. Different sauce? No problem. Try getting that in a chain store. I had the Gnocchi with a Gorgonzola cream sauce, it was amazing. My wife had fettuccini with the bolognase sauce. Also excellent. We had high hopes based on the reviews but we were really disappointed in both the food and the service. Our bread was cold and dry. I had to drink and entire glass of water with half a roll. I couldn't finish it. I had calamari steak. This is my favorite dish in Italian restaurants and to make at home, so I'm very familiar with how to do this dish. I had a tiny piece (for $18.50) that was pounded way too thin and drenched in so much egg batter the it tasted like an omelet. Then it had about a half inch of sliced almonds in top and then swimming in a salty but flavorless cream sauce. Ugh. My friend's dish was an unremarkable bowl of pasta she couldn't even finish, despite it being a pretty small potion. Service was very slow. Our food was dropped off but no one ever checked back until we were done. From when we ordered, it took 40 minutes to get our food and we didn't have any salads or apps. They kept coming by with "it will be right out" but we stopped believing them after the third time. I seriously began to think I'd accidentally wandered into the wrong restaurant. SONNY IS A GREAT HOST!!!!!!! We went on vacation just passing through when we stopped for the night after traveling most of the day, hungry and not knowing the area we decided to ask the hotel for dining advice, they mentioned two other locations that seemed great however a little research on our own we found Italian food. VILLA NAPOLI is what we found I had the sea food combination and it was better than expected as I told Sonny we also had the veal, pollo dish and everything was better than amazing. Sonny even had a great wine recommendation to compliment the meal. Everything is great here oh and the one review i read about portions being too small fast chance portions are great and filling. When passing through all I have to say is Sonny we can't wait to see you again and eating more amazing dishes. read more

Had a great meal this past Friday. Had the Bruchetta as an appetizer and it was outstanding. Really enjoyed the fresh, hot rolls and the side salad was one of the freshest salads I have ever had. Service was great all evening and all of our dinners were great. Price of the entire meal was very reasonable. Will definitely go back in the near future. I love Villa Napoli. I don't live in Turlock but this is our favorite place for "work dinner take-outs". Last week, I decided to stay for dinner while waiting for my hubby's order. My daughter, Lauren, was with me. She loved everything about the place. The whole time we were there, the lovely little lady owner called her Sophia (for Sophia Loren). She was given hugs, tour of the kitchen, special cheese, extra take home bread and complimentary ice cream. The gentleman and the younger lady staff were also very personable and professional. The food is very tasty here. I will probably rate this place higher than a lot of other Italian places in the N. Beach area of SF. Yes, the place is older and not trendy, but who cares! It's clean, quiet, and homey. The bread is always fresh and the cheese was yummy. We've probably ordered half of their food on the menu since we found them and never had one bad dish. Caprese salad and penne vesuviano are a must! Also, they even suggested to make my daughter's chicken fettuccini alfredo half an order, so she cleaned up her plate fast. She didn't want to leave and first thing she asked when we got back in the car was "can we come back next week?" You bet we are! We'll be coming back over and over and over. :). read more

This little place packs a big punch. Food was really good! We were there early, they had just opened and I think it was the owner that waited on us. The wait staff had not arrived yet, thats how early we were, and the service we received was excellent. Even after the wait staff arrived the awesome service continued.
