We should have figured... The dining room was mostly empty on a Thursday night. While service was very good, food was edible but mostly below average. The overly large "special" arancini was under cooked and made with starchy yellow rice! The shrimp risotto was bland and not creamy at all. The chef did not give it the time and love that risotto requires. The special of the night - Seafood fra diablo was also bland - despite a specific request to make it spicy. The highlight of the night was the tasty bruschetta. Ambiance is too much like a catering hall with big open windows onto the nearby parking lot. Parking was easy though! Let me start by saying this review is been written solely on the experience of service . Was looking for a place to make a reservation for my boyfriend since he was going out for a night with friends he hasn't seen in a while . Reservation was made a day or two ahead of time for Saturday 10/19 . On Friday night we get a notification that the reservation has been removed . REMOVED ? CANCELLED? Seriously ? Why would you accept the reservation in the first place and then simply send people an email saying the reservation was cancelled ? What kind of customer service is that ? They obviously have a very poor reservation management system and horrible customer service since the reservation was simply cancelled without an explanation or even an effort to accommodate a different time . If that is the service you have without even walking through the door , I don't want to imagine what actual service in this place is . I'm sorry , you can have the best food in the planet but if your customer service is bad the food is not worth the stress . Hire someone who can manage the reservations properly and if you're having a private event then close the reservations all together so people are not left hanging without a reasonable explanation . I'm sure there are plenty of other places to go where they will welcome customers on a Saturday night .. read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but I feel like I need to share this. We booked this restaurant for a special family gathering, based on the promise that the singer would be singing for my moms special birthday. I was told that the owner would sing "Mamma" -- something that held deep meaning for us and my mother. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. When I asked about it during the event, I was told the singer had left because he wasn't feeling well. While I understand things happen, no one let us know ahead of time, and no effort was made to acknowledge or make up for it. There was music, but no singing to my mother -- as I was told would happen. We had a private room with a lot of people and I want to say that Johnny, one of the workers, was very nice and helpful -- he set up the place beautifully and did his part to make the evening feel special as did the other worker Juan I believe his name was. But overall, I was disappointed. We paid a lot of money expecting a full, well-run meal. Instead, we were served very small portions, had to keep asking for more appetizers, pasta and steak. The coffee wasn't brought out until way after we finished eating the cake. When I politely raised my concerns, I was told, "You paid for food, not singing." The owner became defensive and dismissive. And on top of it all, several guests who had the chicken were sick the next morning -- which made everything feel even worse. I know several people love Patrizia's -- and honestly, that's where I plan to go for my next party. This was not what we were promised, and I can't recommend this place for anyone planning something meaningful. read more

Today we visited a wonderful restaurant in the beautiful and sunny country of Italy in New York, Villa Paradiso. We liked the quiet, cozy atmosphere and light Italian music. The order was brought quickly, we didn't have to wait. The order that was brought was a pleasant surprise: easily digestible, but at the same time filling food, prepared from high-quality and fresh products. The pricing policy is quite acceptable. Nice spot for a good Italian meal on Staten Island! Appetizers (not pictured) were baked clams and a portobello mushroom dish. The portobello appetizer was $16 which I felt was overpriced because it was one portobello mushroom sliced on a plate over a bed of arugula and sliced tomatoes. Definitely seemed a bit extreme price wise for that, but every other dish was great and felt right for the price. Our entrees were fantastic (calamari fra diavolo and pappardelle with shrimp and cherry tomatoes). We split tiramisu and two decaf cappuccinos for dessert (not pictured). Service was quick and pleasant. In regards to the vibe, it is very loud inside due to the music volume plus large groups seem to go there as we were the only table for 2 and many parties around us. The Bolognese was only a marinara with a little beef, nothing extraordinary. Had to mention that the music was waaay too loud. Love everything about this restaurant. One big, warm loving party. Music is fun and entertainment is perfect.

I was super impressed with how great and accomadating the staff members were. We were the only ones that were there throughought our stay. The waiters made sure that our table was kept clean and gave us some reccomendations on what to order. I fell in love with the seafood risotto. Please note, I see above it says quiet... I came on a Friday night and this place knows how to party. I had so much fun. There's live entertainment Friday nights and weekends nights. I had an absolute blast with my friends. I did a Conga line, dance in between courses, and drank the white sangria- perfection. Please note when I went everything was family style and it was nice for a party or group of 6 or more. We were about 12 people. The entertainment was very enjoyable and upbeat! The restaurant was packed with quite a few parties, which made it very loud and unable to talk. Our server was so busy serving the large groups, which resulted in our being invisible to him much of the evening. Several food requests were ignored. The calamari which was $24!!! was rather a small portion for being considered an entree (they dont offer as an appetizer) and arrived luke warm. Requested spicy sauce on the side, which was not served.The panelle with ricotta was so bland and not worth order.and came luke warm! I will say, however, I had the papardella putennesca, which was delicious. Friends had the chicken francese and chicken with mushrooms and pepers, which they said was very good. Over all, for a fun and lively night without wanting to converse with whomever you're with, this is a good place to go. I ordered a white wine by the glass, which was okay, but I definitely wouldn't order it again. My friend got the mushroom risotto. She enjoyed it too. Excellent establishment! I came with my boyfriend on a Saturday and was greeted by Salvatore my maitre d and chef. Upon sitting he handed my date and I a champagne glass with strawberry. A nice start to a great dinner. I went on to have the seafood risotto which was divine. Lots of seafood and the risotto was cooked to perfection. My date had the ribeye and that also was perfectly cooked. The Demi glacé served with it was beyond delicious. To cleanse your palette the server sets down a fruit platter with watermelon, fresh cantaloupe and grapes. A great end to an amazing dinner. We also had the white sangria served in HUGE glasses. Overall a great night with great food and I felt like with great friends. 5 star! And ps! To continue Salvatore the GREAT gave us a huge serving of Godiva chocolate mouse.
