My good friend and I meet at 'OSfizio's every few months - a midpoint between PA & Queens. Yesterday we learned that Genaro is no longer working there, he left to open his own business (good luck to him, he was always very accommodating). We met Mario, co owner, as soon as we stepped in. He welcomed us with open arms & provided wonderful recommendations for meals & drinks. They have a brand new menu so there are many choices that would please anyone/everyone. We started with their toasted homemade bread & pepper spread - soooo delicious!! We each had pasta - ravioli with vodka sauce & rigatoni with a bolognese ragu - both yummy! We split the peanut butter/jelly lava cake with vanilla ice cream - heavenly!! This place never disappoints - will be back in September. Highly recommend! read more

So , I have passed osfizio for a while now. We thought maybe it was a good idea to finally try it out. In the past it was a bagel store. The outside pretty much looks the same . We looked for a spot. it's extremely hard to find parking in this area.. there is a small lot but seems like it gets filled quickly. We didn't have reservations but it was rather early and didn't think it would be hard to get a table. We walked in and a cute older man was energetically running around waiting tables and making drinks. I think he was the owner. He was funny and super nice. He seated us. There was two super large parties in the restaurant. They were loud and tbh obnoxious! We looked at the menu and we settled on some light options. Fried calamari 19 , a salad( Pera ) Bibb lettuce with Gorgonzola, candied walnuts , poached pears in a balsamic glaze 18 we added salmon and a meatball pie 21. Tiramisu So let me break it down for you. We had hot bread with a beautifully seasoned tomato sauce. It was really amazing! It really set the tone for the meal. The fried calamari was really good. Crunchy, fresh and not dripping in oil. Lightly seasoned and the sauce was perfect with the calamari. The only thing the portion was small for the price! The pizza came out and again this pizza was like a personal pizza again the price is off . I wasn't impressed with the cheese they used. It didn't seem like fresh mozzarella. First impression there was way too much sauce the crust was like a wafer. Super thin! I wasn't impressed. I took a bite and the sauce tasted raw ! Like not cooked. Had an unpleasant taste. I actually got a little nauseated. Moving on we order the Pera salad and wanted to top it with salmon. We expected a full salad and salmon right on top. It might have been our fault for not asking the price for the salmon but that's what we wanted. Anyway our salad comes and literally it's a side salad with a 3 or 4 oz portion of salmon. Super small. We couldn't believe it. We were still hungry so we order a tiramisu. It was light, fresh and just a simple dessert. This place is by far not a date place. It's loud and somewhat chaotic. You def can tell the owner is busting his ass. It's really unfortunate The food is not consistent with taste, flavor and consistency . Which is a shame. The price point of the food is way too expensive for a place on Staten Island! Speaking of price we get the bill and the price for two side salads and a small piece of salmon each 80 F'ING DOLLARS!! The guy literally ripped us off ! We pay the bill as we both shake our heads and walk out and the owner goes " hey make sure you tell 5 friends to come visit" yea sure and get ripped I would have loved to say! I enjoyed my martini and we ordered the antipasto for 2 and a meatball special that was made with onions. We took a pizza to go, which was very good. So we looked at the menu prior to making a reservation & it looked good. If only we were able to check the vibes before we decided to eat here. I ordered a glass of green apple sangria & it was grossss. my friends ordered pistachio martinis, also gross. The appetizers were very good however the atmosphere was TERRIBLE!!!!!!! The restaurant is not large & they had this awful singer & it was so loud it was making me nautious. So we could not even speak to eachother, we had to shout across the table all night. The chicken sofia loren was very good but the vegetable was mushy with no seasoning, the potato was sweet potato which i do not like. That should be spelled out on the menu. 4.5 stars all day long, every day. Love this place and so will you. Brunch or dinner you won't be disappointed. Even the leftovers, are tasty the next day. Love the service and the ambiance. Was off work today with the wife and decided on 'O sfizio. We'll no regrets, owner gennero greeted us and it seemed like I knew him for years. Fried calamari was awesome and fresh, oh and the bread and pepper spread even better. We also got pizza with sausage with broccolirabe, very good. We went to 'O Sfizio for my daughter's early birthday dinner, and it was a fantastic experience! The service was excellent, and the food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere felt just like dining in your own room with family and friends. The live music was great and very entertaining. Had our annual Holiday luncheon for our AAUW women's group last Friday. Genaro, the manager, provided an absolutely wonderful experience for us- everything was just perfect!!! Our prix fixe meal was so delightful- and included a beautifully arranged and delicious salad, choice of pasta, and choice of entree- chicken marsala, stuffed pork chop, grilled salmon, or eggplant parm, plus incredibly delicious brownies and canolis for dessert, as well as tea and coffee! The service was truly excellent, and Genaro and the staff are so patient, accommodating, and very upbeat. It is such a treat to go to dinner at O'Sfizio. Gennaro is the absolute best host ever and he is always going above and beyond for us to give us the perfect experience. I love that he is so energetic and always gets the attention of customers to join him in celebration and also clap to the music for a birthday, anniversary or any special occasion. It is truly one of a kind and so deeply appreciated! As per usual, we had phenomenal drinks and meals. Big shoutout to the chef for always cooking the food to perfection and also to the bartender for mixing the best cocktails. I am so excited to return again to ask what is new and hot since they always have new offerings, specialty cocktails and specials on the menu. If you are looking for your classic wine or beer , then this is also your vibe. So, we began with our beverages and then had our classics for appetizers. We had the baked clam oreganata, zuppe di mussels in white wine sauce, which is so juicy and then I wanted to get the shrimp cocktail. It was presented so beautifully over a tray of ice , so I loved that it was very fresh. We then had fresh oven baked classic margarita pizza, which was so hot and bubbly. For the entrees, we had the lobster ravioli and seafood risotto. Both were excellent and I also usually order the linguine vongole, which is so infused with incredible flavor in every bite because it is so perfectly spiced. I have been there for dinner before. Food was ok. Went back second time was told of daily special. I decided to try the Pasta Pescatore with lobster . Last time I had same dish without the one lobster tail ,which cost $34. I know it will be a little more. Dish cane exactly the same as regular one with a 2oz to 3oz warm water lobster tail. The tail was tuff and dry. Ordered a pitcher of sangria. Was not good tasted like cheap wine with vodka $42. Also ordered baked clams looked like they have been reheated a few times dry. When I got the bill they charged me $75 for that pasta dish. I felt I was taken for a ride. It was my fault for not asking price. Place was slow that day. I was Not happy. In future always ask how much the daily special cost . This place has declined from my last visit. Plus don't like being taken advantage on double the price for a tiny lobster tail. Won't go back. I know times are tuff for restaurants during the week. But don't do that to people. read more

We were given two free bottles of wine because they had our reservations mixed up and we had to wait a bit. Also, the kitchen was backed up and the wait was long for the entrees. It was very nice that they provided us with the wine to make up for it. Appetizers: Fried calamari Coconut shrimp- It was delicious however it only comes with two pieces of shrimp. Mussels Baked clams All of the appetizers were good. We loved their homemade bread too! Entree- Pork chop- the waiter said that we would want to hug him after that dish. Boy was he right! It was delicious. My husband ordered it. I wish I ordered it for myself. I had the Branzino special stuffed with crabmeat. Yes, it sounded delicious. Chicken parmigiana was salty, the eggplant parmigiana comes unbreaded so once the sauce and cheese covers it, it becomes very mushy also most soupy. The sausage and broccoli was ok just have to go out for pizza because it's small portions. The service was very good. When my wife returned her uneaten eggplant they gave her a free dessert. Cool and trendy Italian spot. Pretty average menu, and the place was packed as it should be on a Saturday night. slightly upscale I think ‍. Now that we have dispensed with all of the pleasantries, here's the food situation. Food was what you would expect from an Italian join in Staten Island ; 10 different chicken dishes, pasta dishes, and some meats including a nut encrusted lamb which was pretty good but slightly dry. My wife got boring ass chicken piccata (plane jane style) which was good and I got the swordfish. The pesce was pretty good as was all the apps (muscles in a white, baked clams, cheese platter) To be honest the food was very average, wait staff was good, but I do have one major complaint. I am a native Staten islander and grew up on hylan blvd, that said i did not want to eat dinner in the middle of it . The outside seating is not very Plesant with all of the speeding cars and wandering human beings. Sit in the inside if you value your life . Staten Island's newest hidden gem that won't stay hidden for long! Despite seeing a couple less than stellar reviews online, my friend and I decided to try Osfizio after it was suggested to us by a friend. From start to finish, the atmosphere, service, and food were amazing. It was clear that the negativity others expressed was simply just the typical kinks that need to be ironed out when opening a brand new restaurant...especially in a time where the world is short staffed everywhere you go and most people are more on edge than usual. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated like family with a warm greeting from our server Gennnaro. While the decor was hip and stylish the staff displayed old school manners by pulling out our chairs for us...a small gesture that makes a big difference in terms of experience. We both ordered drinks from the bar and they were made perfectly which started the meal off on a good foot. For appetizers we had the calamari fritti which was perfectly cooked and the buffalo mozzarella which was light and refreshing. For our main courses, I had the grilled swordfish which was out of this world and most certainly fresh; a concern I often have when ordering fish. My friend had the veal marsala which was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Throughout the meal our waiter was attentive but not bothersome and the staff cleaned our table between courses...another act that may seem minor to many but it's the little things that make a dining experience even better. The owner also came by to introduce himself and make sure all was well with our meal and service. Overall, I would definitely recommend Osfizio to anyone that is looking for a relaxing night out with delicious food and service. The older Italian gentleman and his restaurant crew clearly have a passion for good food, drink, and atmosphere. It was divine! We went as a party of 6. We had to wait a little while for our table. Not a bad wait but very tight quarters while waiting. A small bar with tables pushed up tight to it limiting the space to wait. When we we're seated, drink orders were taken promptly and delivered nicely. Cocktails and red sangria served by the pitcher were on point. Apps for the table included baked clams, an assorted app platter and fried calamari. All were good. My veal Marsala was very tasty if just a bit tough. My wife's chicken Parm was delicious. From the moment I walked in until the moment I walked out, Gennaro made me feel like family. The service was impeccable, and the food was incredible. I'm sorry I did not take pictures, but everything was outstanding, except for the fact that I had to sit on Hylan Boulevard. They had a baby shower going on in the main dining room. My fiancé decided to try a new restaurant and heard about Osifizio. Despite the few reviews they had only that were mixed reviews we decided to try for ourselves. We had a reservation for 7pm to which we were not seated until 7:25pm. The manager, who I believe, was the owner promised we would be seated at the next available table since the rain threw them for a loop which was understandable in my opinion for a newer restaurant so that was okay but to wait almost 30 minutes and watch 2 other groups be seated before us was not okay. Our waiter was scrambling around and was not able to dedicate one second of his attention to us beside from taking our order, even then he was looking around while I was talking. When he checked on us he was running past us as he was speaking so if we needed something we didn't have an opportunity to tell him. We ordered our appetizer, we split a pizza, which I thought was just okay considering we heard they were from Italy. We then waited what I want to say was 45 minutes to an hour for our meals (gnocchi and a rigatoni special they had.) Throughout that hour waiting we became quite uncomfortable with the environment. It was visible that multiple other patrons in the restaurant were unhappy with the service. One customer was very vocal about being unhappy. The wait staff became visibly upset when hearing (what I'm assuming) was negative feedback. Another owner/manager (different than the one seating us) was scolding employees near our table in public which we could hear and what I thought inappropriate. Scold your employees no problem, but in the back not near customers. When we finally got our food, my fiancé's dish was good, piping hot, put together well and looked delicious. Mine, not so much. I purposely ordered the gnocchi because I noticed BrooklynBites had been there last month and ordered the gnocchi and it looked good in the Instagram video. My gnocchi was room temperature and the fresh mozzarella was not melted like I thought would be based on the Brooklyn Bites review. I didn't say anything about my food because at the point, I was so hungry that I just ate it. As we were paying the check, the manager who was scolding employees asked us how our meal was. I said "honestly it was okay." He asked what I had a problem with and I told him my food was room temperature and not as expected based on a previous Instagram famous food reviewer had posted about. But I couldn't even mention this because he cut me off and asked "why didn't you come tell me?" And I said "well because you were yelling at your staff near our table which made me uncomfortable." To which he decided it was appropriate to tell me why he was yelling at said staff member. At that point he asked what he could do and I said nothing. We paid the check and left. Ultimately, the food is okay. The service is terrible and extremely unorganized. The staff a little unprofessional (we also heard another waitress cursing as she walked away from being scolded by said owner.) The place was jam packed so I hope that they turn things around so they can truly succeed. I hope in 6 months I can go back and mend this review but after my visit I felt like I walked out of an episode of restaurant impossible. read more
