    The babies exploring
    Carolyn M.

I love this place. The last time we stayed here, we had another couple sharing the two bedroom apartment, so I slept on the pullout couch. This time, i got a bedroom to myself!!! The apartment itself comes with free wifi, was spacious and modern, clean and bright. The kitchen was equipped with pots, pans, etc. and the bedrooms had queen sized beds and en suites. Every room had its own separate thermostat, so while my brother, sis in law and the babies kept their bedroom on the warmer side, I was able to keep my bedroom a cool 67 degrees. It was in the 90's the whole time we were there, so it was a treat to sleep cozy every night in a cool room. The village grounds are well manicured, gated and safe. We walked to the playground with the babies and took them for their first real swim in the huge indoor pool. There is also a workout room, tennis courts and bochee ball if you're so inclined. I recommend this place a million times over if you're ever in the area for a race weekend or just want a relaxing weekend away. it really is a great place!

Very nice and modern place! We've rented the two bedroom villa and found it to be very clean and tidy. They supply you with hotel benefits like towels and toiletry, but you also get an equipped kitchen with basic items like pots and pans, cookie sheets, plates, utensils, etc. staff is trained to be very friendly and accommodating. We got here a little early but because we were two couples one with a baby and the other with a toddler they then gave us out room early. Pretty close to the mountains, for those who are interested. About 10 mins travel time. The only down thing is the activities. Pool is a little small, change room is not connected to the pool, and the game rooms should be one big one as oppose to two little ones. We will definitely come back again but maybe next time in the summer since there is lots to do here.

My husband and I stayed here last week. We upgraded from a studio to a 1 bedroom villa. We were staying with our small dog. From looking on the site the studios currently do not offer a fridge/microwave and I really wanted that convenience. It was well worth it to upgrade. The one bedroom villa is laid out like a small condo. The bedroom was very spacious. I am assuming from the layout this is what the studios look like. The accommodations exceeded expectations. It was gloriously clean and believe me I looked hard. After a long day on our first night I checked out the aquatic facilities. I had them all to myself. Robin at the front desk was very helpful and even brought me fresh towels even though there were towels aplenty. After a quick dip in the pool and hot tub I visited the changing room and sauna. So very clean, as in I forgot I was in a public facility. And then back to the room, it was wonderful and cozy my only complaints being an outdated shower stall (the changing room shower was a lot nicer) and an annoying gap underneath the door to adjoining room. Luckily we had no neighbors there during our stay. All and all it was pretty great and every person we dealt with there was absolutely phenomenal. I would definitely return.

Just got back from our little pocono getaway. Overall my boyfriend and I really loved coming here, and we will hopefully be returning. We love traveling to the poconos from the city because it is close enough to drive, but always feels like a different world when we are there. The lifestyle in the poconos is very different. It is also important for us to say THANK YOU to the Village at Pocono for offering a discount for Military and Police families. This was very thoughtful, kind, and helpful! front desk was so nice and accommodating in general. First let me say the only real negative about this place is it was slightly farther away from things. We only found 1 restaurant within a 5 mile radius, but it closed early. On a Sunday night we wanted to eat a late dinner at 8:30 and literally the only thing opened was a WAWA 7ish miles away. It was an adventure. This place is directly across the street from the Poconos raceway. So if you wanted to visit for that purpose, this is the best place to be location wise. This place was immaculate! Which we loved. We stayed in a studio that was pet friendly, since every other room was booked. We were hesitant at first, but we were totally surprised. Everything was super clean. The place looked rather new in general. I believe it was built in 2009. The only complaint I could think about with the room was the shower was a little small, and there was no tub. But honestly with the price we paid that is me being picky. I mean for this time a year to pay just over $100 for a room is hard to find unless it is falling a part. We really liked the pool area, hot tub, and sauna. Everything was a lot nicer quality then we originally expected. The movie room was a nice touch too! Loved playing ping pong and pool! Those were open 24 hours. We are excited to return here in the future!

They have a pool, but I didn't get a chance to try it. You have a small area to eat a free continental breakfast. Your choices would be pancakes, eggs, sausages, toast, potatoes, orange juice, apple juice. You can purchase snacks and other drinks, but they're a bit pricey compared to getting it at the local store. Sorry if you're expecting a continental dinner, you're on your own with that. That's not covered. I had to do UberEats. The hallway to the room was clean and quiet. The room was small but perfect for me or a couple. The room came with a microwave, refrigerator, iron with an iron board. My room had a comfortable bed along with a pull out sofa couch, cushy chair with desk and sizable LG television. There is a connecting door to the room next to mine. Make sure you keep it locked. Otherwise you may have some uninvited guests...haha. You can control the room temperature which is by the window. The only problem with the television is the signal to the tv was weak causing the programs to pause every few seconds. Fyi, you get free wifi. Make sure you ask for the code. Parking, of course is available. Overall, I recommend this Best Western if you're ever up in Blakeslee P.A. and if you're planning a mini stay like me. I included a couple of outdoor pics of beautiful P.A. during my drive along with the hotel pics. Enjoy!

Where do I start .... 2 days before our check in date , I was reading the drinking water is contaminated so I call and speak with a gentleman to confirm this information . The worker advised that Willowbrook is okay and water IS NOT CONTAMINATED he seemed annoyed when I had asked him about this . This should've been put on their website so people know before booking . I feel bad for the others who've booked and WERE affected by this . Now we get to the day of check in , check in was smooth , no issues . Provided us a map so we knew where to go . We get into our room (got there around 3:30-4:00pm) and got settled . White sheets on our bed , looked STAINED . Remote for the bedroom TV was missing so we tried to manually connect as we do have a Roku Tv at home and are aware of how to do so . IT DIDN'T WORK . So I call the front desk who advised maintenance would come out and fix that . I told the woman over the phone that we would be leaving to go to dinner and the maintenance person can just go in and fix the issue . We get back from dinner around 9ish and the issue was indeed NOT FIXED . What we did see was the living room TV was on and it appeared they just came in made sure THE WRONG TV was working and left . So I call AGAIN for the second time to let the woman at reception know . I tell her what happened and she says "well does the TV work" ummm if you have read this far , again I advised the woman the tv in the bedroom has NO REMOTE and no way to connect to it , the tv works that's NOT THE ISSUE . Again the woman advised she would have maintenance come out . Maintenance indeed did not come out . Long story short , I ended up calling again in the morning and again told them no one came . I was told they would be coming in a few moments , no one showed up within the hour so me and my boyfriend left for breakfast Came back nobody came . So i call again , express my extreme frustration of paying $700 for 2 nights and 3 days for us to have to continuously call about our amenities. Woman advised she would contact the gentleman specifically to have him come down . I was over it at this point , I walked around the building to find someone to assist with this and on the second floor was the maintenance man (Bryan) with A BOX OF ROKU REMOTES ( very nice guy, very apologetic) So that issue was resolved Then we needed towels . There's a number on the map they provide to call if linens are needed . What's the point of having the number if they don't answer the damn phone . Called 4 times for towels and didn't get any until the last night when we were there and was finally connected with someone in regard to this . Mind you I put the dirty towels in front of the door for them to collect and then replace since they didn't answer until after the 4th time Our bed was not made ONCE were we there . Please do better !!!! This is a wonderful family establishment , beautiful lakes , beautiful views , lake harmony Watersports is absolutely wonderful and prices are great . Restaurants were pretty good . Our stay unfortunately was not . We will definitely not be coming back here

Among the staff, Griffin at the front counter was a pleasure to work with. CONS: they charge you extra to use the common amenities (pool, gym, arcade, etc) and then extra on top of that for the water park. The electronic room key also failed and the carpet in our room wasn't clean. The line for check in took a solid 20 minutes. Longer than any other place I've been to. We also found a few bugs in our room OVERALL: not sure if I would come back here. The staff and the amount of amenities was amazing, but the cleanliness and the prices are very questionable

This review is being given a year after the visit due to my experiences with this company. Save your money and go to the Kartrite *NY* instead, a direct competitor of this company, who I rated 5 stars 3 years ago. My review of the Kartrite detailed that we had an awesome family getaway -- super friendly staff, a full schedule of kids' activities, scavenger hunts, and even the indoor/outdoor hot springs. It's organized, clean, and actually delivers on what it advertises. Split Rock was the complete opposite when we stayed in May 2025, while I was 8 months pregnant, as a babymoon and celebration for my first born before finally becoming a sister. From the moment we arrived, things were disorganized and poorly managed. We waited over 2 hours total just to check in in line in the lobby, and were given notice we would hear when our room was ready (a common practice advertised for families who want to use the water park before they check into their room), however no communication about when our room would be ready ever came so we waited again for an hour in the same line later on. The waterpark was only partially functional, with multiple attractions out of order, dirty bathrooms, and limited food options available. We "upgraded" to a Willowbrook suite specifically for the hot tub in the room -- which didn't have any working jets OR hot water. The room lacked basic essentials like soap, extra toilet paper, and even a trash can in the kitchen. One of the two AC units didn't function in the room. We later found out (on day TWO) that the property was under a boil water advisory, after we had already been drinking the water for our entire stay, WHILE I was 8 months pregnant. Dining was just as disappointing -- a $25 all you can eat Memorial Day "BBQ" that was actually one plate only, which included an undercooked hamburger, and resulted in my family getting sick the next day. Activities were inconsistent too -- advertised movies were changed without notice, and the WiFi didn't work when we tried to salvage the evening in the bedroom with a movie instead. The final straw: no hot water on our last morning. I chose not to make a scene during our stay because the front desk staff were clearly overwhelmed and dealing with many similar complaints. This is not a staff issue -- it is a systemic failure of this business. What makes this truly shameful is what happened in the months after when I tried to professionally handle the situation, without even asking for a refund which I really should have given the horrific standards not meeting appropriate living conditions. Following our stay, I sent a detailed and fair account of our experience similar but longer than this review. The Manager whose name I will redact at this time responded and offered a complimentary one-night stay "for two" (despite our two-night stay and the extent of issues). I responded promptly, reasonably asking about options for our family of four and a comparable experience. Then... nothing. I followed up multiple times over the course of an entire year with no response. As the certificate approached expiration, I reached out again simply trying to book something as the email requested I do when I was ready to try again. Still no response. At this point, it's not just about a bad stay, it's about a complete lack of accountability and follow-through. I hope this behavior in the year after is due to something more than lack of care. I no longer trust that I would have a safe visit for my family if they did offer me to stay. Now, I would only request a refund. I gave Split Rock every opportunity to make this right before posting publicly. Waiting a full year with no response is unacceptable. This was supposed to be a special final trip as a family of three. Instead, it was stressful, disappointing, and frankly unbelievable. I never thought I'd write a review like this -- but this experience earned it. Rooms: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 2/5

Location - it is about 15-20 minutes away from Big Boulder and Jack Frost Ski Mountain. It is near a major highway, closed by to fast food restaurants. Hugh parking lots. Check in Process - there was only one lady at the front desk and she seemed overwhelmed. While I was checking in, she had to answer the phone twice because it kept ringing. But other than that, the check in process seemed smooth. Room condition- the room SEEMED clean and neat when we first walk in, however, that wasn't really true. The bathroom door lock was broken and unable to locked, in fact, the bathroom door would open slowly if I did not slam the door closed. We were using the hairdryer for a bit and all the lights, except for the bathroom light and hallway light went off. The TV was off as well. It happened around 9 pm during our first night of stay, I called the front desk and the staff said he would come and check shortly. Waited for 30 minutes but nobody showed up. Then I walked downstairs to report the situation again and he said he would come up shortly. When he came up to the room to "check", all he did was to try to switch the light switches for a few times. The lights remained off and he said he would ask someone else to check next day morning. We stayed in the room without lights for the whole night. We would think it is just the circuit breaker issue and the problem would be resolved once he switched the circuit breaker, but he did not even try. Another gentleman came and fixed the lights. He told me that he just reset the circuit breaker. Couldn't the first staff done that to help us on the first night? Complementary Breakfast - the hot breakfast choice was very limited. The bananas were rotten. They were understaffed to replenish the food/supplies in the breakfast and everything went out during the peak breakfast time (around 8:30-9:00 am). There was no more milk in the fridge, guests had to unpack the paper plates and plastic cups, no hot water and coffee in the coffee area, trash was piled up and overflew from trash can, no enough space to accommodate all the guests. Elevator- there was only one elevator in the hotel. The elevator probably fits about 8 people, so it was always a line to go up or down during morning peak time.

Yes, the hotel is slightly older, but contrary to the other reviews, it wasn't as horrible as others have said--maybe it was because we had lowered expectations going in, but in fact we were pleasantly surprised. THIS IS NOT A 5-STAR HOTEL PEOPLE, SO GET OVER IT. It is a decent hotel, one of the least expensive in town, and definitely worth what we paid. PROS: The breakfast: more than just "grab and go." It was scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal/milk, bagels, toast, yogurt, juices, tea, coffee and more. It was buffet style and the staff were on top of refilling food and cleaning tables promptly. The pool: clean, clear, WARM! Very chlorinated-expect red eyes. The rooms: clean, comfortable, pretty much like any other middle of the road hotel. WiFi is free and worked better than cell service in this mountainous area. Tv was new, fridge and hairdryer were standard. Pretty quiet as well. The staff: awesome. The price: terrific. THE CONS: It was a little nerve wracking going up and down the hill to the hotel in the snow (December). They plow, but I'm not sure they salted the road, it seemed icy. We made it fine even though we were in a Ford Fusion and a small light Honda Fit. Yes, the key cards reset and locked us out even though we were booked for 2 days. Guy behind us in line in the lobby was having the same problem. I would suggest to the management, that since they clearly know this is a problem, just tell people when they check in that they could have a problem with this and apologize ahead of time and say that you are working in the problem. The rooms: as stated, clean, but a weird white grainy powder on the top of the bedspread. It was sort of like when you use too much powdered laundry soap and it doesn't rinse out all the way--or maybe the maids sprinkled carpet powder before they left and it overshot onto the bed--I have no idea. It was not IN the bed sheets, so we just shook it off the top and got over it. Then when we unfolded the sofa bed and just re-folded it back up, we noticed that a french fry fell out and there were also a few crumbs on top of the outer blanket in the sofa bed. Again, inside the sheets were clean. Minor, but annoying. Plumbing: toilets were a little slow. One shower (we had adjoining rooms) would not shut off completely and ran a medium stream all night. We felt horrible about all the wasted water, but it was really late and kids were asleep, so we didn't call the desk. :( Structure: I would suspect they have been trying to update and remodel. Room seemed newly painted, but certainly not a perfect paint job (paint on lamps, blotches here and there of dark paint we at first thought was blood, an unpainted water spot above the shower, etc). One old tiny elevator working (and one broken)-- IT REALLY WAS NOT A BIG ISSUE OR PROBLEM. Room heaters were a bit inefficient and inconsistent, but not terrible. Some of the the double-pane windows have become unsealed, so foggy and difficult to see outside. OVERALL: pretty decent for the low cost. No, it is maybe not like a sandals resort, but come on people, look at the room price. Never once saw a bug. Staff was great and extremely accommodating. They seem to be really trying to get the place looking better. It wasn't the Ritz, but it wasn't a roach motel either. WOULD DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN.
