La Baguette Parisienne has the best bread and pastries in town. I lived in Morocco when I was a kid, and we scarfed down sublime French bread and pastries made by French bakers. LBP's bakers make the sublime goods that I recall from back then. Their crust is crunchy/chewy and their bread is substantial, yet cloud-like. Miches, baguettes, epis, loaves, rolls, croissants, & special flavors; all are highest quality bread. And their cake & pastries? Sainte vache! They have fluffy cream puffs, creamy eclairs, yummy cookies, flavorful pies, and more. And don't get me started on their cupcakes, which are moist and tender and even better when they're Cosmic. There is something indescribably delicious about the apple and cherry Crisps. *Chef's Kiss* The staff at La Baguette Parisienne is knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. They are also incredibly kind. On my last visit, I managed to take an epic fall (really more of a clumsy crumple) that included pushing a rolling counter across part of the store. My middle name is "Grace". The owner, Kim, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful (nor could the customers there at the time, so I guess kindness attracts kindness). She helped me to get up and was gracious regarding my minor rearrangement of her shop and cheerful enough that I went from embarrassment to laughter in record time. My late beloved Mama found this lovely, cute bake shop decades ago when they first opened, and she was a delighted weekly customer whenever she was at her east-side Tucson home. I hope to carry on her tradition, if less frequently from my UA-area home, until my time on the planet is done (bury me with a plain large Miche, a Cherry Crisp, and a Cosmic Cupcake, please). Stopped in on a whim on our way out of town for an afternoon road trip and my, oh my! Everything looked incredible. Plus the staff were so helpful and kind. We ended up with some jalapeno cheese focaccia, a fresh loaf of sourdough (sliced for us right there), a couple of croissants and a cherry crisp. Everything was incredible and delicious. We were going to Sprouts on Broadway and this fantastic place is right next door. I have to say the sesame loaf is soft fresh and chewy just like you want in a loaf bread. Next to Sprouts how could I've not seen this goldmine before?!! The smell when you walk in is intoxicating. It's very difficult to just choose one item and not walk out with 5 pastries on top of your sourdough bread that literally had just come out of the oven. The young man that helped us was so nice and the young lady that hook the sourdough up early also was beyond nice. This bakery was very disappointing. I ordered a lot because of the reputation this place seems to have in the community but it was a mistake. The key lime was mint green -- key lime pie is yellow -- so this was the first surprise. The green filling couldn't hold its shape so every slice, I use that word loosely, had to be scooped and plopped on a plate. This wasn't a great visual. The filling seemed like it was a pre-made mix and it had a cloying sweetness. The mini eclairs used whip cream instead of the expected custard. The croissants tasted like those at Whole Foods. (I bought some from that grocery store a few days later to confirm I wasn't stretching my comparison.) It's not that they tasted bad but they didn't live up to any expectation I had for a patisserie. For a small storefront they offer a variety of fine pastries and custom made cakes. The moment you step in, you smell freshly baked goods. Even though they have no available seating, they make up for offering decadent desserts. There's ample parking and it's conveniently located by a Sprouts grocery store. I couldn't resist wanting more than one so I got an eclair, tiramisu, 2 chocolate croissants and a pumpkin spice cupcake. We go shopping every week at Sprouts, we are always enticed by the amazing aroma coming from that direction... based on the name and what you can see walking by, I assumed it was mostly a bread bakery. Woah was I completely shocked to see it was FILLED with amazing looking pastries!!! A ton of ppl were in there too. It was very overwhelming trying to make a decision... but we just celebrated a bday and had a ton of sweets at home so could only grab a few things. Went with cinnamon roll, which was dry. Chocolate du pain, which was decent, flaky, good flavor but still lacked magic. Was not impressed BUT will come back to try cannolis and eclairs next time. Maybe something cakey. read more

This will be a maybe. I came in at 0730 For a baguette and a chocolate croissant. I was anticipating a lot of French influence and a fully stocked bakery. In reality they only had 8 fresh baguettes and one only chocolate croissant. I got one of each. I just left France and these don't measure up. Way too much chocolate in the croissant and the baguette was just ok. The glass cabinets were 1/2 empty but they had a lot of the nice French rolls, hoagie size on the back wall. Very polite service. I miss Tucson. Especially I miss La Baguette Parisienne. Three years ago I moved to the Midwest. There are a few good bakeries here, but none that can compare with La Baguette. A specialty that I used to special order was their baba au rum, which I cannot find ANYWHERE! But my visits to Tucson are brief and often too short to order my favorite dessert there. Their Jewish rye bread is also unmatched, a league above any I have found elsewhere - and I search out any bakery where I am for more than a few days. Just the aroma as I walk into the store brings me back to my youth in Northeast Minneapolis where there were fantastic, authentic European bakeries throughout the city. I am glad La Baguette survived the pandemic, and I pray it will be around many more years with the same perfect quality I am so familiar with when I visit Tucson. read more

I have been shopping at La Baguette for 30 years. The branch at Broadway Plaza was bought by a new owner 4 years ago. The quality of product has gone steadily downhill, to the point where I will no longer buy goods there. I bought a miche and a baguette today, to serve with spinach dip. The miche, which should be round, was poorly shaped, approaching an oval with dents in one side. When I cut into it with a bread knife, the inside was doughy and glommed together. The baguette had large holes in the interior with a weak crust and poor, airy texture to the bread. Usually the scent of good French bread makes one's mouth water. There was no scent, and the flavor was flat with a tin aftertaste. I used to buy Napoleons and custard-raisin cinnamon rolls, which they no longer carry. The cream puffs have a Crisco-looking filling three inches high between the top and bottom pastry. Everything in the cold case looks as if it comes from Safeway, complete with cannolis (not French) and brightly frosted cupcakes with too much toxically dyed frosting. The quantity of day-old goods rivals what is in the freshly baked counter, which means that they don't know how to predict daily consumption. This bakery used to be my favorite place to take my grandkids for a treat, but no more. They also used to give out free little bird rolls to all the kids. I am sorry to no longer support what was a quality, locally owned business. There is no longer a decent French bakery on the east side. Mourning the good old days. Bon appetit. read more

After thinking that Barrio bread was the only bakery store worth visiting in Tucson, I have been proven wrong. The bread here is delicious and takes you to a European bakery with all of its baguettes and pastries available to try! ***Just know that they do NOT accept credit/debit card so bring some cash or check to pay. LOCATION: Located right next to a Sprouts on Broadway. SERVICE: So many people to help you make a selection of breads and pastries and they are all so friendly! This place feels like a local neighborhood bakery in Europe. You could tell there were so many locals there for their bread and staff knew a lot of them personally as well. FOOD: The bread was the chewy texture that I crave. You can taste the wholeness of this bread. The pastries were equally tasty, the chocolate dipped macaroon was crisped to a perfect golden texture with a great flavor. The cinnamon twist and the cherry turnover were also superb. Ok so we've got a change of owner which warranted a revisit. To be fair I've gone twice. The last visit I picked up a very small Halloween cookie box of cutout iced and sugar dusted cookies that was $12. Unfortunate I didn't like them at all. They just weren't tasty. I'm not sure if it was not enough sugar but I would up trying them and wasn't too happy. The baguettes are the same though, great taste fresh and light with a crispy crust. I also tried the limoncello cake which was fabulously moist creamy and tart, and the chocolate cake which was good but I wouldn't buy one again. The chocolate cake seemed less moist and less sweet more on the bitter side. Sone night like that. One thing I noticed was the napoleons which are rectangular pastries with phyllo dough and layers of cream and a fondant top seemed to have way too much cream although to be fair I didn't sample one. we went again today, we got a fruit and cheese danish, 2 chocolate croissants, pistachio macaron and chocolate, walnut cinnamon roll, tiramisu, pumpkin muffin. When we got home we realized we're we're missing one thing and then called them. They forgot our cannoli we paid for, but they are very nice and we can get it next time we go! It was so packed at around 12:45 on a Sunday. The line pretty much out the door. I don't blame them for forgetting there was a lot going on, with it being so busy! La Baguette Parisienne is worth the longer trip out there. This place is becoming a frequent go to!!! Everything is so tasty and my family is impressed, the only thing we wouldn't get again would be the walnut cinnamon roll as it was a bit dry. Everything else 10/10. I've been coming to this bakery since I was a young kid every weekend with my grandmother. I am an adult now. The previous owner sold the bakery. The most tasteless bagette I have ever experienced. The pastries look delicious but I am now feeling gun shy. Disappointing.

We tried this bakery several times because it was near where we lived and we kept hoping we'd find more items we liked. However, this bakery uses far too many artificial ingredients and not enough real ingredients for our taste. For example, artificial cream instead of real whipped cream, artificial chocolate substitute instead of real chocolate, fake lemon filling instead of a lemon curd or custard, etc. The only things we thought were good: almond bear claw, plain croissant (fyi this is a mildly sweet croissant). Ok: blueberry muffin, and the macarons were good but similar and not better than ones from the grocery store or Trader Joe's. We thought these were bad: chocolate croissant (fake chocolate), chocolate eclair (utterly bland with fake chocolate and fake cream), lemon meringue cupcake (fake lemon filling), coconut macaroon , chocolate dipped raspberry tart (artificial raspberry flavor and fake whip cream--the only part that was edible was the crust!). They consistently use processed fake ingredients rather than real ingredients; if they changed that, the flavors would improve immensely. read more
