We stopped at Village Inn for lunch while driving through on Christmas Day. The restaurant was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of call-in orders in addition to a long line of people waiting to eat at one of the few choices open on the holiday, but we were still seated fairly quickly. The food was good and just right for travel lunch, but the highlight was the service. Our server, Elijah, was amazing! Village Inn has really stepped up their game with their remodeling. I like the color scheme they chose, very modern! Food is as delicious as always and yes they did remove some of the patrons favorite choices but they also have added several new tasty dishes and even more healthier options. I ate there twice while staying in Fremont. It's not bad. My meals have come out quickly. My breakfast was good. The pies are delicious! I tried the banana cream, lemon supreme and pecan. I tried a Monte Cristo for dinner. My only complaint is that my mashed potatoes were cold. The service was outstanding both times. My severs were fast and friendly. It's not the best food I've ever had but it definitely hit the spot. read more

A little disappointed on our last in dining visit. We usually order to go. We came in at 6:20, got seated right away, the waitress came by (very friendly) took our order and walked away. It's now 6:56 and we still have not gotten our drinks!!! Not acceptable at all. We have been politely waiting to see how much longer it takes. She has walked by a few times bringing out food and a pie for tables around us but has not stopped at our table at all. I get these places get busy and that maybe she might be new. I really hope that this is not their new standard of service. At 6:59 my husband finally got up and looked for our waitress to remind her of our drinks. She explained that they were low on staff (cook and dishwasher) and she had forgotten what we had even ordered so we had to repeat our drink order! The place was relatively quiet and not too busy. Our food came out shortly after. The all American cheeseburger comes with Swiss and American cheese, bacon, onion rings, lettuce tomato and onion and thousand island dressing. Ours came with two meat patties and two slices of American cheese, two bacon strips on the buns...nothing else. Again, we called the waitress just to clarify we had received the correct item. She apologized and brought all the missing items (except for the onion rings which they were out of). We tried not to let this experience ruin our outing and laughed it out, she even got a good tip. I hope management reads this review and alleviates the work load on their staff. It would be ashamed to let this establishment go downhill so fast after their remodel. read more

I have learned to manage my expectations of this restaruant, and continue to go there for their specials. On my last visit, not for a special by the way, the hamburger patties in my patty melt were cooked to the point of having char and being extremey dry. The service, including being seated, was slow. I wrote it off to my belief that they were short-staffed that day. I noticed other customers waiting extended periods of time to get seated. My finace and I visted today for their Monday hamburger special. I had not managed my expectations to the level of the service we recieved. The restaruant was not very busy. We waited for at least 5 minutes to even be noticed. We waited longer while a staff memeber helped a customer who only wanted to buy pies who came in after we did. Once seated, we waited for an extended period of time to order our drinks and food. The food took a bit, but not too long. We still hadn't received our drinks. They came out AFTER the meals were served. The server didn't check back with us until we were well into our meals. My burger was well prepared, but fries were served not at all hot. I did not ask for fresh ones as I had finished my burger before the server appeared again. No point in having fresh ones at the end of the meal. We needed more napkins. I saw where they were stacked and walked over to get some. I note here that after our wait to be seated, I mentioned to the person taking care of seating diners that the delay was okay because they seemed to be short staffed. She said they were not short staffed. Sounds like this boils down to a management issue. read more

Stopped in for breakfast while in town for a wrestling match for our daughter. Service was great. The fresh squeezed orange juice is delicious. And then there is the food. While their menu is quite large and the food has the potential to be good my food was COLD and my potatoes were under cooked. I did a pickup order this morning and nobody was at the counter so I ask for ketchup or something but I figured they were busy so I let it go. I got home with the food and It was burnt. The hashbrowns were rock solid. I tried calling the restaurant to see if I could get new plate. Nobody answered the phone. I just can't believe you serve food like that and still want to us to leave you a tip. This ridiculous and I'm very disappointed because I was very excited for this meal. This was by far the worst experience ever. I order from the app. The hot chocolate was gross, it wasn't mixed and tasted like milk and water, I have prev had their hot chocolate so I know what to expect. Sadly that's not the worst they forgot my pancakes and only gave me three slice of avocado when I ordered avocado TOAST. To make matters worse I went to the restaurant to express my complaints and was treated awfully and they treated me like a lair. The lady who "helped" was awful. Never going back. We were seated in a timely manner and were greeted by a server (AA) who said they would get our drinks to help out our server (BB) Great. They weren't too busy as the lunch rush was dying out. We were given our drinks by AA and continued looking at the menu. 10-15 minutes later as were just getting ready to pack up our kids and leave because no one was waiting on us, AA came over and asked if BB had helped us. We replied no and she said she would be more than happy to be our server. It was a rough start but we had asked the kids food be brought out right away and it was out quickly. The kids scrambled egg was cooked, flipped, and folded. It looked more like a crepe and was Not appealing to a toddler who loves scrambled up eggs. But otherwise fine. My family and I have been at this restaurant twice now, and we will definitely be going back. The food was very good, both for lunch and breakfast, but my favorite was breakfast. Be sure and try the pie, there is a reason the restaurant is known for it. The waitstaff were incredibly friendly and warm, and very quick on the draw. Worst service I've ever had. We were seated within 3 minutes of arriving. Then spent 10 minutes waiting for our waitress while we watched 2 other groups seated after us order and get their drinks. When a server finally came over she was obviously upset that we wanted to order food as well as drinks. She had to leave to get paper to write our order down on. Acted like we were burdening her with our presence. Once we got our food we never saw another waitress. Ever. No check to see if we needed anything, no drink refills, no check to see if we wanted dessert, not even our check. We waited 10 minutes for our check. Nothing. We stood by our table with our coats on. Nothing. We finally walked up to the checkout stand and told that lady we weren't given a check. This place has been the go to place for many many years. Everyone in town loved this place until an accident caused it to close down for a while and re-open remodeled. We went for dinner during a night that the new manager was working. This manager should be fired. He belittled the waitresses in front of customers, told waitresses that he does not take food to tables, all this manager did was stand around and do nothing. Just about every single table got the wrong food or it took over 10-15 minutes for everyone to get their food. Instead of standing around doing nothing this manager could have been in the kitchen helping make and take food to tables. The waitresses, cooks and other workers were absolutely amazing. So many tables agreed that the manager was completely useless. The other two managers are amazing as well but this new manager should have never gotten the position. Please if you eat here make sure to treat the workers with respect because their manager sure isn't. read more

Very good food and our waitress, who was a young gal was very attentive and professional. We were seated where we could see into the kitchen. At no time did she sit down or "goof off" which you hardly ever see anyone not do. I was very impressed! The outside needs an upgrade but inside was clean and inviting. Really good breakfast! It was busy at 9:30 am on a Saturday. The Host seated us and a short time later helped out the waitress bringing out my water and coffee. A short time later he took my order. The waitress brought the perfectly cooked over-easy eggs, whole wheat toast, bacon and hash browns order quickly. Although they were busy I was not rushed to finish up and leave.
