I got the Momma's French Toast Breakfast and my husband got the Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast. We were both so pleasantly surprised by the portion size and how delicious everything was! The first time here for dinner and it was a total dud. While there was no line to be seated (which was nice compared to breakfast), they sat us in the furthest room with sunny windows, no air circulation, and flies buzzing around. While the food and service is normally the redeeming qualities here, the server first rushed us to order and when we needed a couple minutes ended up disappearing. The food: the kids meals shined here. Both loved the cheeseburger and chocolate chip pancakes. Mine however, was probably the worst meatloaf I've ever had. It was not hot, but dry. The flavorful sauce on the crust was the best part, was minimal (and apparently you can't get more on the side). What? While they probably do have better options for lunch/dinner. Definitely not the best service, but somewhat expected when one full grill is broken according to our server. She also had a table of 12 with a few other smaller tables so she was very busy. The food is good but my main problem is the amount of gristle in the chicken. I order the grilled or fried chicken tenders anytime I come by and I always find that every piece has a chunk of gristle. It really diminishes my appetite every time but for some reason I still want to give it another chance. I've learned now not to do that. Can you guys please take the gristle out or order from a third party that doesnt allow so much tendon to be left in the chicken? Otherwise it's a great meal, but I can never enjoy it because of that. read more

I ate here for the first time tonight. It was my second Cracker Barrel experience in probably 30 years. I don't remember the first experience too much but I think I got breakfast. Tonight at this location I got the meatloaf with macaroni and cheese and the hash brown With cheese and onions. I was extremely happy with my meal as well as my service tonight. No just no,ordered meatloaf. It's was scalding hot on one side, cold on the other. I ask waitress if it was microwaved (obviously was) she redirected the conversation. Offered to get me something else. Recommended the chicken fried chicken. It came out right away and was just as disappointing as the meatloaf. Pre breaded frozen chicken breast pieces. I ordered the French toast with cinnamon apple as a topping, along with the eggs and sausage. The French toast was much better than I was expecting and I would order it again. The scrambled eggs and sausage seemed a little undercooked. We asked our server if we could get it cooked more and he said he could microwave it. They still looked pink after but seemed cooked. I would recommend getting the bacon instead of the sausage. I also ordered the chocolate pecan pie which didn't have much chocolate in it. I thought they gave me the regular pecan pie but the host, who was very nice, checked and said it was the chocolate one. Kids ordered Mac and cheese which either didn't come with a side or we didn't get one. The kids grilled cheese comes with fries but we asked for Mac and cheese as a side. They came with juice/soda and a biscuit. Our server did a great job. It was our first time in a very long time and we took a while deciding what we wanted. He was very patient with us and checked on us throughout the night. There are lots of toys, candy, and other items in their gift shop. They had a lot of seasonal items too. First off, our waitress Kayle was an absolute pleasure! She was smiley, kind, helpful and sent us off with drinks to go. Sure- most wait staff should do those things, but not all do. She was sunshine- and made everything feel warm and welcome. You can't go wrong at CB. No matter where you are you know you can get a huge meal at a reasonable price. Let me start with it has been years since I have been to a Cracker Barrel. A family member sent us a $25.00 gift card, so we figured why not! They have stepped up their game. Did you know they now serve alcohol? I got a spiked lemonade. It was pretty good. We started with the tater tot casserole tots! It was a tater tot casserole inside of a deep-fried tot itself. As someone who enjoys a good tater tot casserole, it was delicious! I got the fried shrimp meal which comes with french fries and hushpuppies. You get two additional sides. I got corn and a side salad. A side salad is an upgrade. My husband got the chicken and dumplings with mac and cheese. For dessert, we got the Beignets with caramel sauce! They were great. Comfort food at its best. I had breakfast with my son at Cracker Barrel this morning, and was very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. They even had beyond sausage sausage patties for vegetarian course. They have the usual supply of steak and chicken and sausages. I had the pancakes with two eggs and incredible sausage and it was a terrific. My son had a steak, breakfast and oranges. All of it was good. I am one of the rare folks who have never eaten in a Cracker Barrel before. And after today's experience I doubt I'll go again. It was just so ordinary bordering on tasteless. I had a skillet breakfast with hash browns, sirloin tips, cheese, green onions & over easy eggs. The hash browns weren't crispy, the sirloin tips tasted more like hamburger with a hamburger texture. We eat at Cracker Barrel often; and each time we mention it, people sigh and say, "pancakes". My Husband indeed, LOVES the pancakes. I am more of a savory person, so while the Uncle Hershel's breakfast can be a go to for me, I have made my way through pork chops, grilled catfish, southern fried chicken, smothered meats of any kind and of course chicken and dumplings. I have added their mimosas to my standard order and enjoy trying a different flavor each time. There is usually a wait, but that is shopping opportunity. The first waitress was very rude. We ended up asking for another waitress which was much better. The food was cold and not appealing. We have been to the Cracker Barrel in Lincoln & Omaha and neither was appealing. I don't know what's happened to there staff, management, etc. Cracker Barrel has really went downhill. This is really just a gripe about the cashier in the general store area. I purchased a very nice ceramic figurine to bring with us to Des Moines Iowa as a gift for my daughter. I asked the cashier if she could please wrap it in something so it would not get broken on the way there. She looks me dead in the eye and says "Wow, you sure are needy today." I was appalled and quite surprised. I thought for sure if this was in fact a way for her to be "funny" she would followed it up with a laugh. Nope, she proceeded to finish the transaction and sent me on my merry way. The more I think about it, I should have asked her to take off the price tag too! Service was surprisingly bad the last 2 visits. The only reason I returned yesterday was because I had a gift card. I understand that they are understaffed but I think the manager should've stepped in. I felt bad for the nice waitress being overwhelmed, but it took forever to get food and it wasn't how we ordered it. Sausage Patties were almost burnt - couldn't eat them. Coffee was cool and stale. Husband should've gotten gravy on his chicken and by the time we got it, the meal was cold. He ordered Coke but got coffee . I ordered cheese on scrambled eggs, guess what, no cheese. We ate anyway because we were starving. Our friends said they won't go back. I spent my gift card on overpriced merch in the shop. I signed up for the rewards program at the table after ordering and wanted to use the birthday discount and freebies for signing up but service timing wouldn't allow it. Went to Cracker Barrel a few nights ago and we enjoyed our meal there. Our waitress was excellent and the menu was so large that there's nothing on their someone won't like. I will say it's a chain so the food wasn't top dollar but for the price it was good. And when you're craving comfort food this place is as good as any to go. I had the chicken friend steak and mashed potatoes and gravy and it was pretty good. The gravy was a little bland to be honest. But my favorite thing ordered were the pancakes. Why do people love Cracker Barrel so much? I still just don't get it. It's like a cult thing I've never been invited to. But my niece and nephew are big fans. So we wound up here with a large party. Our server was very patient with us as everyone endlessly deliberated over what to order, silverware was dropped numerous times, etc. The manager also came over to check on us and thank us for coming. So definitely some great service here. You can get breakfast all day, which is nice. The menu offerings are pretty substantial with lots of options and good-sized portions. Obviously, the menu leans towards country. Think biscuits and gravy, turnip greens, country fried, etc. I can't say I'm a big fan of the food. But it's definitely not bad. And everyone else sure seemed to like it. The decor and ambiance is kinda like grandma's log cabin. And there's a country store as the entrance. Think handcrafted-looking items and knick-knacks. Went there last weekend,called ahead on the app got there went to the check in stand and said our party was here. Then waited several minutes then looked at names being scrolled through and not seeing ours repeatedly the person never asked if there was a problem then I eventually asked about how much longer knowing they didn't put our name in properly and sure enough I see her put our name from the bottom to the top , of course there was no admission of a mistake so I then asked why did you move our name to the top. She said they didn't put you in that your party was here .Wow , our server was terrible I asked our server when ordering if I could get extra butter and syrup and as usual she just ignores the request and never brings it then after all the dishes were stacked up she then brings my only refill like I was going to drink it . I asked a friend of mine to grab a quick bit of breakfast during our Saturday morning break...we decided to hit the local Cracker Barrel as we thought it would be fast and have a varied menu...WRONG on all counts. Although the staff was very friendly the menu was extremely limited and did not even include an omelet in any shape or form. Also, the wait time was 45 minutes plus and when the food did arrive it was not correct. My double meat plate was missing the sausage and it did not arrive in a timely fashion. We asked for Tabasco sauce and another type of hot sauce was delivered with the check at the end of the meal...duhhhh. Had not been to a Cracker Barrel in years and won't go again. Traveling home from 1300 miles away, thought we would "treat" ourselves to a "nice breakfast". Picked Cracker Barrel, because of my sister speaks highly of it, and proceeded in. Usually we are quite gracious toward wait staff, etc, but this was horrible. Ordered coffee and water. Then made selection of Old Timers breakfast with bisquits/gravy, over-easy eggs, and crispy bacon. And the other was Bisquit Benny with hollandaise sauce, without the diced tomatoes and green onions on top. It had potential, and our first (and last) time to go there for a breakfast. Well, the biscuit Benny came with the tomatoes/onions on top so I scared them off, then cut into the biscuit benny... the eggs were slimy half cooked eggs, and the supposed "hollandaise sauce" had zero hint of lemon and had a weird 'off' flavor. Plus the ham they put on was way too salty for the dish. With the egg undercooked i couldnt eat it, utterly nauseating. Also the hashbrowns were some kind of very cheesy casserole thing. No thank you. Then my husbands plate had under cooked eggs, the bacon had half cooked fat that he pulled off and his gravy for bisquits was a slightly enhanced standard white sauce, flavorless. Just a bunch of starchy nothing, although he saw flecks of possible sausage in it. The manager came and offered a remake of my meal or replacement so i opted for just a piece of chicken and some hash browns. The piece of chicken came with that same cheesy casserole thing and the chicken was extremely greasy but i ate it by taking off what i could on the outside. At least the manager did not charge us for my food. It was a miserable experience so i don't think we will be back to any cracker barrel again, for sure not breakfast, awful. read more
