Let me start of by pointing out the obvious, this restaurant gets good reviews. I am not sure if it is from all the friendly Woodcliff locals who dine here nightly, the ambiance of the rustic brick and lumber building , the friendly staff, or the great food, but the reviews don't line. This is a MUST TRY kinda place if you find yourself anywhere close to Woodcliff Lake. Being that it was our first visiting here, our server Ainsley was very patient with us and gave us time to look over the menu. We both opted for the house salad to start. Very good!! Being that it was Thursday and every Thursday is burger night, we both ordered the house special the " I dip, you dip, we French dip". It's an all beef burger topped with roast beef , grilled onions and Swiss cheese. Served with a your choice of sides and a bowl of as Au Jus . I'm going to go out on a limb here and honestly say that I cannot remember a time that I had a better burger than this. It wasn't all the French dip toppings that made it so memorable, it was the beef patty that was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Every time we head back to visit my parents in Fremont we have to go to Woodcliff! I absolutely cannot get enough of their portobello mushroom fries! We also had a couple ribs eyes which were cooked fairly well (I could have had my ribeye more rare, but kind of hard to undo that). Very disappointing that they only do baked potatoes on Wednesday nights. I would think you could be creative with leftover baked potatoes??? The service was excellent per usual in Nebraska! Everywhere we went everyone was so happy and upbeat from the grocery store to the coffee shops. Woodcliff will always have a special place in my heart because of the cool log cabiny feel. read more

I'm really sad I didn't get to grab photos, because photos are my usual forté on this platform -- however, I couldn't go and not review! FOOD : My husband and I ordered the 8oz sirloin and our friend got the chicken teriyaki dish, and we split some mushroom fries as well. My sirloin was delicious! I loved the flavors and the sauce they used, I also appreciated that their portion sizes didn't make you leave feeling like a glutton. It was the perfect amount of food (although I wouldn't have minded some more veggies!) and the steak was cooked great for me. My husband loved his and although it was a touch fatty, it was delicious and worth getting again. My friend has an obsession with their coconut shrimp, but the menu changes often so it wasn't around this time and she got the chicken teriyaki dish. She gobbled the whole thing up and although it wasn't as good as the coconut shrimp, she seemed to enjoy it! As for the mushroom fries, I'm not huge on deep fried anything - but my husband is and he thought they were good! SERVICE : the service was top notch! It is definitely a hot commodity amongst the lake community, and we got the opportunity to check it out through an invite to go to dinner from one of our friends who live by it. From the outside I wasn't expecting much, if I'm being completely honest I was a little bit nervous that we might be getting food poising from this joint because it didn't have much appeal from the outside. But as the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover! The inside is warm and welcoming, a "cabin-esque" ambiance with string lights over the back patio and warm yellow light inside. Everyone seems excited to be there and from what we heard, it's always pretty busy (which is a good thing!). It is definitely not a cheap spot, but I would say you get what you pay for. My daughter and I kind of stumbled onto this place. We were starving for really good food on our way home (Norfolk area) from Omaha. You know not fast food but maybe a steak or a salad and she found this while I was driving. Wow, very impressed with not only the service but the FOOD! The Woodcliff was recommended by a local first responder. We ask were we could get a good steak or fish, and this was the first place he suggested, so of course we had to try it out. It was a Wednesday night which just so happens to be steak night... so... why not! I ordered up the sirloin cooked Med/rare with a spud and salad. The steak was cooked to perfection! Nice and grilled on the outside and juicy and pink on the inside, just the way I like it, it was seasoned just enough that it didn't need any sauce, the juices flowed as I cut into the delicate meat. I'm followed the dinner with a delicious bowl of crème brûlée, and let me tell you, the chef in the kitchen definitely knows his stuff, not only was the steak perfectly cooked but the desert was off the chart. A coworker got the Red Velvet Baileys cheeses cake, we each shared a bite of our desert, both were mouth watering... oh and let's not forget the double Woodford Reserve bourbon I got before dinner, when they brought it out, I thought the waitress was messing with me and brought me a glass of tea... Had a great dinner tonight. This restaurant is located in Woodcliff. I had the Blackened Catfish Tacos, which were in a fried flour tortilla. It was dressed up with a cabbage slaw, the fish was cooked to perfection. It came with a side of fresh cut fries. My wife had the Grilled Salmon on squash risotto and fresh vegetables. The salmon had an Applesauce Pecan topping that made this dish perfect. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food. This is the kind of food that brings back customers all the time! July 2018 - just had the salmon special, my new favorite! Grilled salmon with watermelon salsa, feta rice and vegetables. Wow! Hope this gets on the permanent menu. read more

The food here is typically pretty good. I've only had their steaks so take that for what it is. The service is usually pretty good as well. Just like with most places the staff is inconsistent. My only complaint it is the price is not equal to the ambiance. The ambiance is obviously better during the summer on the patio. The winter not so much. If it were nicer in the inside the prices would be justified. But it's not nice in the inside. read more

Having spent a lot of time in this bar back when we had a house out here, things sure have changed. We were told by so many people to try the menu and it did not disappoint! The Mushroom fries were so good, nice light breading. One of the best wedge salads ever. Good crab bisque. Daughter liked the salmon and my wife said the roast beef melt was one of the best she'd had. My walleye sandwich was not too heavy, great flavor and aioli. So far here we've tried the chicken with Gouda risotto, the ribeye, salmon and the braised beef ragu. As well as "steak night." So far, everything has been excellent! The party of 4 i ate with had no complaints! We all tried each other's and agreed we loved what we'd ordered but would be happy with any of the dishes. The salmon was outstanding, i can't seem to master that kind of flavor at home. We also had shared Portobello "fries" and these are probably what is going to force us to keep making the 30 min drive. The atmosphere is so casual and relaxed. Love the red booths and lighting. It's quiet with good music. Truly hope they don't try to make a ton of upgrades and make it fancy. It's obvious locals love the laid back feeling here. We feel a little intrusive driving from Omaha to bust in on their coolness but it's just too good here not to! It's on a lovely lake and I keep saying how much I want to return for summer to eat on their patio overlooking the water. Only one minor hiccup so far. I received a text for 1/2 price wine night which is a big reason why we decided to go and then when we ordered was told all the rules that applied to it. "Only if you have the text. One per person." My other person didn't have the text and the waiter had no idea what it is about at all. Hadn't been informed of the half price wine with text. All was made right by the staff but no one likes to receive an offer and try to use it just to be made felt like a bit of a cheap ass for trying to use it and being confused about the unwritten rules. This review is long overdue. We were in town for a funeral (my mom's). We were looking for a casual hangout to relieve some stress. It was a Thursday night and we had spent the day driving on ice through a blizzard. We figured Woodcliff, being just outside of town, might be devoid of the miserable crowds of loud mouths and drunkards so common in town. There was a crowd, but they were all families and were enjoying their dinner and their conversation. It turned out to be a rather peaceful evening. The staff struck up some small talk with us. They introduced us to the owner/chef. We talked about her education and career and where we had crossed paths before. The bar had a good selection of craft beers on tap. The menu had a lot of great choices. The next day the family asked for recommendations for a place for everyone (group of 30 or so) to gather after the funeral on Saturday. We suggested Woodcliff. I called and asked about availability and they were able to work us in around their other reservations. They gave us their party room. I think we ordered everything on the menu between us all. The staff did a marvelous job getting drinks out, all the food out at the same time and to the right person. That is no easy trick with this large of a group. The food looked and smelled really good. We saw a lot of people sharing off each other's plates. It was that good. The staff were all smiles and small talk all evening as they refilled drinks and delivered desert. We got takeout because covid and got a Woody burger with fries, Pastrami Reuben Burger with onion rings and a blackened catfish tacos with a side salad. Came with house seasoned sour cream- the rings, or strings as I would call them were delicious. The sauce was good and different but I'm a fan if house ranch. He ordered a strip steak. He is a big steak fan/critic and said it was decently cooked but needed more seasoning. He was surprised by the three peppercorn sauce that topped it. Made the steak better. His words "that sauce is bangin"! I went with the walleye sandwich. Slightly greasier prepared fish but was still tasty. Good house tartar sauce. The hoagie was slightly too thick for the sandwich, kinda drowned out the fish and sauce. This location is in a gated community and off the road a bit. Def more local visitors than not. Right on the water with a view. Patio seating was available but it was hotter. Was steady busy. Darker ambience with a rustic cabin by the water look.
