This place is a gem. I've been living in/frequenting Ocean City every summer of my life, and I JUST found this place in August. I was actually on my way out of town, and my trusted eating companion and I needed breakfast fast. We could have stopped in town, but parking is often quite stupid and annoying in Ocean City. So, instead we found this quaint, little diner. I love it! It wasn't a huge restaurant, but we still got in and out fairly quickly. I ordered pancakes with bananas and chocolate chips. They were gooey and delectable as banana-chocolate chip pancakes should be. I also ordered scrambled eggs. I was satisfied. Our server was pleasant, the food was hot and fresh and the price was definitely reasonable. This place is my ideal breakfast/brunch spot for lazy mornings down the shore. read more

This place is one of a kind. The ladies there are so friendly and seem to sincerely care about the patrons. They are great with kids and are very welcoming. That's not the best part! Had a great breakfast here today. Carmel crunch French toast is a must try. I also had a side of chipped beef which was the best I ever had. My wife had delicious banana pancakes. My 4 year old went for the cheeseburger off the children's menu which looked like a 1/4 burger with a nice side of French fries. As other yelpers wrote the staff was excellent. Every time I eat here I'm happy. The area doesn't have great food, but this is a reliable place to have a good breakfast. The pie and cinnamon rolls are delicious. I personally love the omelettes and think their homefries are better than most restaurants. My husband enjoys the cream chipped beef. The service is usually good and the restaurant is clean. This place is the best. Amazing food, friendly and attentive service, and never a long wait even when it's crowded. The atmosphere is cozy and you really feel like you're in someone's family kitchen. This was a cute little place right outside of my town in Ocean City, NJ only about a 5 minute drive from the 9th street bridge. It was the perfect place for a late breakfast/early lunch that I was looking for. I ordered their buffalo chicken and bacon flat bread which came with a side of chips. This was one of their house favorites and I really enjoyed it! They are open from 7:30-2:30pm on weekdays and open at 8am on the weekends. It is a very casual and towny place. All of the staff I thought were very nice. The only downside is that they only take cash. read more

What a great breakfast-I loved the eggs benedict, the coffee was great and my daughter loved the French Toast as well. Well worth the drive from Sea Isle to check it out. I went back for lunch on another day and had a Monte Cristo. It was literally sinful to eat this sandwich. It was very, very good. I also had the soup; to my delight it also was excellent. So basically, this is a great place to go, it is worth the trip from Sea Isle and my teenage daughter who generally eats more than most professional football players (and remains skinny) had enough to eat and since everything is reasonably priced, she did not break the bank. My family and I were excited to try the Village Kitchen and gladly waited 20 minutes to be seated. Once seated, who we believed to be our waitress greeted us with an unfriendly "What are you drinking?" Brushing it off, we perused the menu and decided what we wanted. 10 minutes later, we still had not been checked on. Waiting another 10 minutes...still no waitress to be seen. It became clear that we would not be helped and, after wasting almost an hour of our day, we left the restaurant only to have been spoken to once. Just because we may not have been that waitress' table does not mean that we should have been ignored. Honestly, we should have left sooner, but as a former waitress, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, I will not be recommending the Village Kitchen. read more

I've been here twice the first time was for breakfast and it was great. the second was horrible. our waitress only came to our table to get our order give us our food and get the bill. she didn't check on us once and was see on her phone multiple times. we stopped her while texting to ask for water which was after we were done eating and she didn't even bring them to us. I got a buffalo chicken cheese steak and it was yucky. it was really sweet which is weird since it had hot sauce on it. when we left she didn't even say "thank you" or "have a nice day!" another waitress did. honesty wish I'd gone somewhere else. read more

Had lunch hear a few weeks ago. Ordered the special of fish and chips with ff and a cup of crab chowder. Ordinarily I don't enjoy fish and chips and most places don't get the batter to stick right and it comes out so greasy. This placed nailed it. Super crisp nice chinks of fish. The ff were potatoes sliced really thin and we're all terrific. The soup had plenty of crab and was also delicious. I can't wait to go back! read more

This was such a nice surprise. Not far off the garden state parkway, easy to find, and not closed for the season! Open all year so the locals love it. Very friendly service and the fluffy pancakes were fluffy as advertised. I asked for crispy fries and they were perfect. Bring cash but not overly expensive. Yum. read more

So we visited here last year and had great service and the food was good. We really had no complaints so when we were in town again, we decided it was a good stop to have breakfast again. We arrived shortly before 11AM, I asked what the wait was, and was told that it would be less than 10 minutes. However, I observed a table of 4 was only sat with 2 people when there was a table of 2 right next to them...so we could have been seated immediately. This will make more sense in a bit. Mind you, we have two kids under 3. So we decided to stay. A couple more individuals showed up so it appeared that a wait was starting to form again. Couples of 2 were seated, and a party of 5 showed up. We waited and by now, the wait had been 30 minutes. My children were very hungry but patient so we stayed a bit longer. We observed several customers leaving and thought our table was next. However, it was a table of 5 that had left and the hostess came out to seat the table of 5 that was waiting. I stared at her in disbelief and I said "you have got to be kidding me" Her excuse was simply that this was the only 5 table they had and we couldn't have been seated there. Well, poor service and management on their part. By this time, it was now a 40 minute wait and people that were seated right when we got there were finishing up their meals. Note to management, if you are going to make your customers wait after telling them there was no wait and then give a table to individuals showing up 15 minutes after we arrived, throw us a muffin or something to compensate for their poor management. I felt like we were in the Seinfeld episode while Jerry and Elaine were waiting for a table at the Chinese restaurant. There are plenty of other breakfast places in town and if you have young children, there are way better options than the Village Kitchen. read more

Extremely disappointed with this place. If you want to wait 30+ minutes to be seated for a sub-par breakfast, check out the Village Kitchen in Marmora, NJ. By the time you actually get seated, the staff can't wait to get you out as quickly as possible to shuffle more people in. The food was cold and poorly cooked. The home fries look as if someone with a mental disability haphazardly chopped up raw potatoes and threw them on my plate. Tasteless, cold excuse for home fries. Service was poor and they're just looking to turn around as many tables as quickly as possible. I can't believe that I payed $40 for breakfast for two. Come on guys....it's hard to screw up eggs and then to overcharge for them is just inexcusable! Maybe the money your saving on tax evasion by making everyone pay cash could be used to better pay your staff so that they provide better food and service to your customers...just a suggestion. read more
