Ok I read through all of the comments on poor service here. As we are sitting here finishing our lunch, I have seen 2 employees- the hostess and our server. Our server, Kelly, was super busy, doing everything from bussing , taking orders, serving food, checking in on everyone, and taking care of payments. This woman was moving! She doesn't have time to sit and chit chat. She's busy making sure we got our food and it was served hot. Speaking of the food! I had the gyro with fries and my husband had the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and home fries. He said it was delicious and the gravy was homemade. I took a bite of his homefries and they were exactly what I like about them. Crispy, seasoned, and cooked perfectly. Kelly recommended the gyro and it was perfect. My salad was yummy with Kalamata olives (YUM), and feta that was softer- not overly dry like a lot of places serve. It was stored correctly- the way my Macedonian family did. The pita was fresh, the meat was juicy, and my fries were big steak fries that came out piping hot. I honestly have nothing negative to say about our meal or service. When a server is waiting on an entire side of a restaurant and your food is still served hot, that's something to pay attention to. Don't complain that a server didn't sit and chit chat with you when they are clearly busy getting your order. On top of that, it's a super clean restaurant, including the bathroom. Well it was Thanksgiving I pick up my dinner at the diner counter... I handed the brunette mid age register lady a five and I told her thank you for working today. She did not say thank you and did she did not say welcome. She just took the five and put it on the back counter. I really wanted to tell her give me my five back. But anyways.. I love a good diner and this is a nice place. Feels like an old-timey 50s diner with a lot of chrome. My son got the Washington Apple drink and thought it was to sweet. My wife tried the Dirty Shirley and liked it. I ordered a Bud Light and got it eventually. I think our server is new, but a really nice guy. I don't mind little screwups if the servers nice and friendly. My son enjoyed his Australian burger and my wife's Beef Gyro was top notch. And they have good fries. I got the open face meatloaf with brown gravy. I didn't like it much and didn't finish it. It happens, you try something new and it's a fail. Now this is important. I didn't complain about the meal or ask for a discount. Our service saw I didn't finish the meatloaf . I told him it was all good, it happens. He took it to his boss and they took 10% off the bill. We visit often and I don't think I ever took the time for a review so here it is! I visited with my five grandkids for lunch. The hostess sat us immediately. It's a typical diner but it's super clean and doesn't look worn out as some do. The server, Kelly, came promptly for our order. Chicken tenders and fries were 3 of the orders and were huge with really good steak fries and applesauce. One had two sunny side up eggs with sausage which were cooked perfectly. The other had a deluxe cheeseburger which looked amazing as well as huge! I had chicken souvlaki deluxe w s side Greek salad. Delicious and bursting with flavor. Shirley Temples all around were enjoyed by all. I even added a French Apple Pie slice to go as it's one of my favs and isn't often found. It was good but the apples tasted like they may've been purchased canned and doctored up. Their dessert case is full of really good looking desserts and pies. Kelly was just a delight! This place is super clean and the portions are Pretty impressive.... BUT ... maybe it is ME.... I'm Not 100% sure. 2 separate tables near us, while we were Trying to Eat our dinner Literally.... blew their noses. Wet, LOUD and Totally DISGUSTING. Like, I get it, times are Very different, but when You work and Tips are Part or Most of Your money that You work for! I just Do NOT get It. My grandmother, and this is HOW I Know I'm Old lol. And How I Think it is Just me and maybe people don't teach manners or etiquette. Not to be degrading, but I was Mortified. When she initially coughed. I did not see her stop and wash her hands. It was ok but I'm disappointed. And I won't even start on my mother's $18.99 flounder. The place is clean but the staff are NOT. so, here is My tip: WASH YOUR HANDS. Customers see and hear you coughing. Sneezing and blowing your Noses. Please wash your hands! I do not want you touching or breathing on our food and I don't want to get sick. Despite what Biden says. Covid is NOT OVER. It has given me lingering and long haulers Covid and asthma symptoms. They Just don't televise it so they don't create Panic anyways. I'm sorry. Came here on Sunday afternoon after getting off the train in E.H.C. and ending up having a great meal.....Our waiter was Jonathan, which was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable....I had the chicken parm with all the sides and my buddy had a cheese steak sandwich and both were delicious...I have eaten here about 4 other times and ever time it was really good....no problems...I want to come back soon and try their breakfast...I say a few people having the breakfast and it looked good....Big portions and best of all, it wasn't expensive....very reasonable....Will be back soon when i'm in the area.............. read more

We come here from Tuckerton NJ very often.....about 30-35 minutes away.....because of the very good meals and pricing too, but we are also treated so well by the workers, with Hazel our favorite waitress, and by the other also. Such a nice town is Egg Harbor City and the Diner is one of the reasons. And oh yeah, try the homemade soups...and they really are....they are fantastic!!! read more

1st time here and was impressed. Staff was super friendly and informative. Extensive menu is sure to have something for everyone. I had the Murphy chicken and it was delicious and I had enough left over for lunch the next day. Portions are generous. I also ordered the garlic bread which was over the top delicious. My family recently met at the Harbor Diner. I've never been- so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The servers were very attentive and friendly. Service was quick despite them being very busy. The food was subpar. Their eggs felt like they were microwaved, and their hash browns were a bit greasy for my likings. Their breakfast meats were the best part in my opinion. Some of my family ordered lunch items which they seemed to enjoy. I did sample some fries which were tasty. I'd recommend trying something off the lunch menu here! read more

Let me preface this review by saying I don't often leave reviews I accept that people and places are not going to be perfect and I don't need to call them out each time something isn't right. I just simply cannot believe how extremely poorly we were treated by the owner of this diner that I had to post a review. My wife and I have literally been going to this diner two to three times a week for the last 25 years. We have stuck with them through all their ups and down. The food is mostly average and generally a good value but has since gotten expensive and inconsistent. We have have had rare events over the years with plastic, bugs and even saran wrap once in our food and these events were met with apology's and refunds we let it go and persisted in coming back chalking up to inevitable human error. Recently the food has been inconsistent in the evenings when we go things like burnt or over cooked food, spoiled sides or old deserts or the taste being off on items we frequently get like it was not made the same way or by the same person. I know the cooks have changed in recent years, maybe that's why, because sometimes it's really good too. It's not frequent but when we have a issue we inform the staff of what we experience so they can improve. We have never requested refunds or to take food off the bill and frankly it's never been offered. We pay for it anyway because it not a big deal and we still come back anyway. This last time some of the food my wife was eating tasted sour and we let the wait know she informed the host who called the owner. We finished our meal and went to the cash register where the host proceeded to tell us she spoke to the owner and that he requested she inform us that we are no longer welcome at the diner because of too many food complaints. She stated if we wished to come back we would have to prepay for our food before sitting down. Why would we be required to prepay for our meals when we always pay for the food whether we like it or not? The whole thing was confusing, shocking, hurtful and upsetting. We thought our business and support for the last 25 years was appreciated but clearly it was not. read more

We usually try to have lunch here on our way to or from AC. The food is good and portions are generous. Last few times when we ordered soup it was presented luke warm (It was cold outside). When we asked our server if she could reheat/nuke it, she immediately placed one bowl on top of the other. Rather than heating both bowls of soup she was going discard them. We objected to no avail. Their soups are too good to waste and it was upsetting to say the least. Then my open faced roast beef sandwich wasn't hot enough but I dare not mention it to our server for fear she would toss it also. Why they just won't reheat food is beyond me. So wasteful. Salads, lunch and dinner specials daily. We had the burger deluxe and pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich. Delicious. The host was kind is the only good thing I have to say about this dumpster dive of a diner. Slow and horrible service!!!! Our server Sarah is definitely in the wrong line of work! Not only was she impatient and RUDE but if your working in hospitality a smile wouldn't hurt. My husband got the French toast supreme and either our server didnt put in our order correctly or the kitchen doesn't know how to read and make a proper order because he asked for scrambled eggs but got over easy eggs ??? He couldn't even eat the eggs at all. The ambiance SCREAMS CHEAP. The red rugs dont match or even look good with the green booths. The paper place matts made the place look extremely tacky and cheap. A lot or empty dirty tables but nobody around cleaning up..had servers in a huddle gossiping while the tables around us and the floors were filthy! My shoes kept sticking to the floor and there was trash and food all over the floors. It wasn't even busy so i dont understand why couldn't somebody sweep up the floors a bit. The ladies bathroom was extremely filthy too !!!!! I cant imagine what the kitchen looks like ! We will absolutely never be back to this filthy place again. Recently I went to the Harbor Diner in Egg Harbor City. A quick search indicated it was close by and so I decided to stop. When I arrived on a Sunday morning, it wasn't too crowded, and I quickly received a booth. Atmosphere: The Harbor Diner is everything you hope and expect in a diner. The exterior is a big, shiny, metallic, retro building. Inside, there is a full-length bar and plenty of booths and tables.  The center has a bar shelf, and you walk by a good looking dessert case. Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh, but I could have used more. Other than that, it was great, but I would have preferred a few more refills. Food: The Harbor Diner has everything you want or need in a diner. There are plenty of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.  I arrived around noon and wasn't sure what I wanted. I was between pork chops and a gyro.  Different options but I decided to go with the Gyro. The Gyro was good, but it had so much Tzcahki sauce. I like Tzatiki it had too much.  I would order it again, but I would ask for the sauce on the side.  It came with potato chips which were good, and I have no complaints. Service: The waitress was friendly, and the food came out quickly. While I could have used more drink refills, it wasn't the end of the world. Overall Thoughts/Would I Come Back? Took my wife and mom for lunch. My wife had the cheeseburger club sandwich. She liked it. My mom had the BLT and chicken noodle soup. She enjoyed both. I had the sweet Italian sausage. We decided to stop here for breakfast on our way from Atlantic City to Philly. All I can say is Wow! The meal was perfect from the coffee to the service. We ordered the French toast supreme meal. Great deal and tons of food. French toast is thick but not dense. Light and flavorful. The home fries (potatoes) were surprisingly delicious and had the right balance of flavor. I went here today for the 1st time with my family we're from north Jersey. I have relatives that live in the area. I looked at reviews and the diner was rated 4.3 so we unanimously decided to eat here. The food was over cooked and burnt beyond recognition. The only thing I enjoyed was the cup of raspberry tea. I wouldn't eat here again and usually NJ is infamous about their diners. I wouldn't have given them any stars but one was the lowest. read more
