This place is amazing. One of the only retail stores where you can try on maternity jeans, pants, bras, etc. Most places (gap, etc) only sell maternity online. The staff are knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. And will leave you alone if you just want to browse cute baby stuff. This is the only store I found maternity jeans, pants, tops, and bras that I loved and felt comfortable in during pregnancy. The baby clothes, supplies, and toys are all high quality and have lasted through two kids and were handed down to friends. Better for the environment and lower cost per use. I am feeling so much better about myself right now! I am currently pregnant with kiddo #2 and weigh about 150 pounds less than I did with my first child, so my old maternity clothes are long gone, and wouldn't fit anyway! In the space between pregnancies, it seems as if all brick and mortar maternity stores have disappeared. Buying maternity clothes online is a sure fire way to make you feel like garbage about yourself, which has been what I've been going through. I walked into the store and immediately found an employee who was completely happy to help me find something! She asked about my fit preference and color preference and whether I wanted over or under the bump jeans. She came through with a HUGE selection to try on. I found two pairs of jeans that made me feel really good about myself. Some people might consider them spendy (jeans run $70-$200 depending on brand) but I feel that it's worth it considering that these clothes will probably be worn daily for the next year. They also carry my favorite brand of bras, so I found a nursing bra in my size (which, again, is unheard of in a brick and mortar store...yes...H cup is a real thing!) and it was so nice to get to try something on before I bought it! Oh, I forgot to mention that they carry all range of sizing! It's so nice to go into a store where they realize that some pregnant women are not a size 6! Village Maternity has become apart of my village since arriving to Seattle almost 3 years ago. In that time my husband and I have brought 2 little people into world, and as a working mom I needed well tailored clothes that made me feel comfortable yet professionally appropriate. Village Maternity not only offers exceptional maternity clothes, but really functional postpartum loungewear (that I still wear 6 months later bc it's so comfortable!) I can go on and on about the great of baby gear, clothes, books, & toys. When my best friends share their happy news of expecting I know exactly what to gift them; a gift card to VM! I'm fortunate enough to live close to this location but my friends whom are expecting do not; luckily VM makes the virtual gift card extremely accessible and the website offers the same items and really timely shipping. I'm pregnant with my first baby and so glad I found this AMAZING store at the U-Village. This store is a one stop shop for not only maternity clothing and accessories, but so many cute baby items for your little one. Lauren was more than helpful when I came in for the first time. Not having a clue of what I needed, Lauren essentially took me under her wing and acted as my personal shopper. She picked out several outfits that were comfortable, stylish, and great quality. She also recommended baby clothes, books, and other adorable Baby items that had to come home with me, too! I also want to add that the brands they carry are high end and items that no pregnant woman, new mom, or baby/child should go without. The owner and manager recently sold me a pacifier that had a dangerous cut in it and was a danger to my baby so I tossed it out. When I came into the store the owner and manager literally laughed at me, and refused to help me at all, because I didn't have the item with me. This after I explained I had even called ahead and was told by an employee to come in for a full refund, that my purchase was in their system under my name and I'd be given a refund like they were giving everyone else. Still they laughed in my face and basically told me to take a hike. I have never been so mistreated. Penalized for being a responsible new mother and disposing if the defective item they themselves sold me that could have killed my baby. All over $15. After seventeen years of purchasing items from these women I am in shock they would treat anyone, but especially, a loyal customer, this way. I will no longer shop here or refer any of the families I nanny for or my nanny friends here. read more

I love this store. Things are a little pricey but they have a lot of great stuff! Most prices are competitive, but they choose to carry higher end items. They rent hospital grade pumps and all the supplies you could need. I went here for a bra fitting, the lady that helped me was great! They didn't have my size in stock and I needed it right away (of course I didn't plan ahead) so she gave me suggestions on where I might be able to find what i needed. I was also able to get the Angle Dear blankies, my son because very attached to his and after it never seemed to be able to get a bath without him freaking out I broke down to get one more. The people that work at the stores are always friendly and helpful. I always suggest this store to all my friends. read more

A cute little shop leaning towards slightly more higher-end baby clothes and supplies. It's a cozy shop that still packs a lot of items to choose from for both babies and expecting/new mothers alike. There are books, feeding supplies, clothes, baby carriers, toys, and more. The staff has always been friendly and unaggressive whenever I came in and browsed around. We had to ask about premie-sized baby clothes, but they had a whole basket for us to dig through. I can't wait for my kid to get big enough for this Foo Fighters tee shirt! Con's: - Prices are through the roof compared to similarly mid to high-end maternity stores. Land of Nod blows this store out of the water, as do Pottery Barn, Nordstrom and other such locations. - Tiny selection at the store also, well worth investing your time elsewhere to ensure you find what you want and at a price that is worth your while. read more

Very strange experience in this store. I bought a pair of pants that seemed ok in the store, but I realized were the wrong size after wearing them very briefly. I returned the next day to exchange them for a size larger, and the salesperson was furious (both at me and the other salesperson who was working). It was a pretty standard exchange just one day after purchase, and her reaction seemed out of proportion. They also have limited sizes and selection. read more

Recently visited & they have remodeled. It is still the same physical space, but feels much bigger & bettter organized. Maternity-type stuff to your right, kids' clothing & gifts on the left. About 2/3 of the store is focused on maternity clothing, undergarments, etc...the rest on high quality kids' clothing & a few nice gift options. They carry many of the different styles of Trumpette socks which are my favorite. They were the only socks which ALWAYS stayed on baby's feet from newborn to almost 2 years old! PROS: Some different baby carriers other than what everyone usually has. Cloth diaper covers that aren't part of an all in one system, why are these so hard to find? Newborn size babylegs. A huge selection of trumpette socks. Super fancypant maternity pants if that is your thing. CONS: This place is too small! Even if I wear my baby around U-Village I bring my stroller and it just doesn't fit in here which is silly since it is a baby store. I wanted to look really nice for a wedding we're were attending but My huge belly was preventing me from fitting into anything pretty. I looked around at all the usual places (Mimi Maternity, Motherhood Maternity) and I couldn't find anything that wasn't awful. So I ended up at Village maternity where they had a bunch of really nice dresses that weren't too girly, pink, floral or muu-muu'ish. I ended up buying a couple of bras too since the girls just keep on getting bigger and they have sizes other stores don't carry. I really like shopping here, the people were nice and they have a lot of nice, useful stuff. The 2 things I would change would be: Having more than one size for every dress and maybe some less expensive casual options. read more

The private shopping offered is amazing, basically walk in to a dressing room full of amazing cloths to try on. I have taken advantage of that twice now and found great cloths that I will have worn from 4 months pregnant to my current 9 months. Sure the cloths are expensive but they are stylish and they will fit me for years to come even when I go back to my high intensity fitness routine. I love the NOM brand that I guess is their house brand. I got the most amazing dress by NOM for my anniversary dinner that I know I will wear for nursing and well after. LOVE, love, love! They have lots of cute jeans, skirts (which, surprisingly are somewhat hard to find), and a great sale rack. The sales staff are not pushy at all, and are very helpful - even referred me to another store when they didn't have what I needed. Great return policy (10 days for non-sale items), which is apparently very uncommon in the maternity world. I highly recommend, especially over Pea in the Pod - with one exception (Joe's jeans), you can get everything here without the attitude. read more

Horrible customer service. Went in here today and was never greeted nor asked if I needed any help. Which I did... The store was empty and the two sales girls decided to awkwardly fiddle with folding the same sweaters five feet away from me instead of taking recognition of my presence. I walked through the entire store and not a nod, wave, hello. Zilch. I don't want to blame this on fact that I was with my African-American mother (She isn't even stereotypically "sketchy" looking or anything. She's a 50 year old kindergarden teacher who speaks like Mary Poppins.) but when I went in with my white Mother-In-Law a few weeks before we were greeting within minutes in the crowded store. This place is good in a pinch. They are a conveniently located brick-and-mortar location for most things baby and maternity in central Seattle. Those are the pros. They carry a really well curated assortment of special presents that I haven't seen anywhere else, including local brand Kate Quinn and my go to gift, bla bla dolls! It's a small shop with a great selection of maternity and baby items. We came in on a Sunday afternoon this past late October. When I say we - we being myself and 4 children. It was clear and sunny so the Uvillage was quite packed. The store itself was full and so maneuvering our Britax B ready was challenging. We were not acknowledged upon walking in, and although we were literally right there by the cashiers we still were not acknowledged - subsequent patrons were however- so minus one star for customer service. Both the gals working the counter didn't acknowledge us until I had a question- Hence my 3 star rating. They do have some adorable onesies and gifts that I haven't come across before so I'll will give them stars for that. All in all it was meh shopping experience- purchased an overpriced sippy cup I soon realized was $7 less on Amazon. My experience will keep me away the next time we are shopping and would much rather shop for my kids at Kids Club. read more

We walked in on 4/2/13 around 5pm and, in the store, were no clients at that point. The sales associate was standing behind the cashier (I would give more characteristics of her) and she was looking down and texting. Upon entered the door, we said politely "hello!". No answer, the sales associate not even raise her eyes to look at us. We were walking around looking for some clothes for a neonate. She never said anything or welcomed us. At some point we decided to look closer into few pieces and honestly we needed some help with size and ask some information. She never asked us if we need assistance. At that point we were looking towards the cashier (there were no other clients in the store), and my wife asked me to leave the store because of her attitude,who continued to text. I asked my wife to stay and I asked the sales associate if she is available to help: -Yes, I am here if you have any questions, and continues to look down and text. I found this associate's behavior insulting towards me, my wife and our money to invest in this store. Her attitude has been offending, arrogant towards the client and very cheap. The quality and the variety of clothing for neonates is good. The prices are reasonable. I am giving 2 stars because of this, otherwise I would give 1. Probably, this is an isolated episode/staff member, considering the good reviews overall at Yelp. read more

My new fave place for mindless maternity browsing. They have a great selection and surprising variety for a small space. It's a boutique so you can expect boutique range prices. I do love the staff here, they are always very friendly and knowledgeable about all their products. It's a great place to go and get a baby shower gift especially if you're not sure what to get. Village Maternity was super helpful when I was having trouble with my Medela breast pump. They not only checked all the parts to see if everything was working but they let me use their changing room to test the pump while on the phone with Medela customer service. Any mom who's had pumping issues knows how frustrating it is to struggle with one's milk supply. As for the overall store itself, I'm always amazed at how many things they manage to cram in this small store and keep everything looking organized. Like other reviewers have stated, the maternity and baby clothes and diaper bags are all high-end brands that are pretty pricey, but it's not as if the store is overcharging them. I guess it's to be expected being in U-Village. read more

For the size of the store, they have a great selection. The stuff is so cute... for babies and preggos alike. Have to admit, this place is wonderful! I go there to shop for gifts mostly, but the selection and quality is so great, I almost always pick up stuff for the little whipper snapper.
