Their billing department is the worst. 3 years of battling them. My insurance called them and Medicare called them. They screwed up and expected me to pay. Bad customer service. My husband's appointment was cancelled same day because the doctor was no longer available. Tried calling to see if we could get another doctor or reschedule. Him and myself both waited 30 mins to get an answer. When I finally got an answer on my phone the woman already had an attitude. When I asked her to bear with me a moment to put my husband on the line she didn't say anything and then just hung up. They are very unprofessional and when waiting in the office it takes forever for them to see you and then they want to rush you out. Very disappointing. read more

This place has terrible billing practices. They are are trying to charge my senior husband $500 for a vaccination they say he was given at the end of 2024. We are not even sure he received this vaccination. He typically gets all vaccines from CVS pharmacy for no charge. (He has a long list of vaccines he has received from CVS.) He went to the office and a billing person came out and said this happened because the insurance does not cover the vaccine and the provider is supposed to eat it when that happens. Now we keep getting bills for $500. We called their phone service for billing questions and said we want to dispute it but we keep getting billed for a service that was probably not even performed. In my opinion, they are crooks. If they are giving $500 vaccinations to seniors they should warn patients ahead of time. However, I doubt he even received this vaccine. read more

I would give this a negative score if i could but 1 star because the receptionist is the sweetest. DR. Jenny Ho she doesn't care. Once they found out i don't vaccinate it was more like a duty to see me. She masked up because i had a cough. Sends me to xrays says i might have Pneumonia but will let me know in 3 to 5 days. I said i think i have a UTI she said you don't 3 week later no joke i get a message i have a UTI. I ended up in the E.R. two days after appointment and found out I didn't have pneumonia and i had a UTI. Also, i had an infection in my lungs NOT pneumonia. She is a quack just wants the money. I went in for annual wellness appointment...DO NOT ASK ANY QUESTIONS other than pertaining to the questions the Dr has asked you...otherwise you will be charged for the questions you have asked. I have never been to an annual wellness appointment where you cannot ask questions or tell them what has been going on with you health the past year. I saw Christine Leach, NP due to a sinus infection I needed treated prior to flying out on vacation. She prescribed me the wrong antibiotics and then I had to pay out of pocket for a Teladoc appointment on Saturday to get the correct antibiotics. SCARY! I am leaving another 5-star review for this location simply to combat the number of individuals who have left negative reviews. No issues at my visit last week. Checked in on the app. Zero issues. Zero waiting. Had my annual with NP Chris Leach. Both her and her MA were friendly, efficient and great to be around. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit them both! As someone who works at a large local health care organization, no, you cannot call the clinic directly. If you need to speak to someone, leave a message for the MA online. You're right. Your call is going to be routed to their call center. You think the two individuals at the front desk are capable of taking 1,300+ calls on a Monday? ...because that's how many calls we get for just two small local clinics in Peoria and Sun City West. Maybe if you had more relevant and pertinent questions, call centers wouldn't need to exist. The two poor employees at the front desk don't have time to listen to your billing issues. That's why the Billing Dept. exists. They don't have time to schedule directly. That's why schedulers exist. I know. Oh, and my absolute favorite, you knew you had ZERO refills left on your medications and you decided to wait until you took your very last pill to try to call the office to let them know you're completely out. And for some reason, it's the office's fault they can't stop what they're doing right this second and call Wal-Mart to fill the 1,000 mg. of hydrocodone and oxycodone you need because of all the tremendous pain you're in. Lololololol. Pathetic. I have absolutely no issues with this clinic. I've never been over billed. My insurance company is accepted. My prescription is filled when I'm running low. I have the understanding and comprehension that the individuals at the front desk are there to check in patients and aren't hired to make all of my Healthcare dreams come true. Where to start... I think I am now on my third or fourth doctor in a couple years as they seem to come and go like trading cards and you find out when they cancel your appointment a few days prior to seeing the doctor that you have been waiting to see for months. If you like over-booked doctors with too many patients this may be your place.. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. This practice was great when it was Thunderbird Internal Medicine. Since Village Medical has taken over, the amount of time and patience it takes to contact a human who can actually help is unacceptable. I was sent to Sonora Quest for bloodwork. My insurance sent a request for additional information and told me to NOT pay any invoice received from the lab until talking with them. Now, after seven months, the lab is attempting to charge me over $2,000 for tests prescribed by the doctor. I was directed to contact Village Medical to find out WHY they did not respond to the request from insurance. It is next to impossible to reach the billing department and, when I did, I was given 3 difference responses from 3 different people. The insurance company escalated this and was finally able to reach someone who assured them the request for more information would be sent to the doctor to complete and return. We shall see what happens. On another note, I was a patient Thunderbird Internal Medicine from 2008 until Village Medical took it over. At that time, I noticed many doctors, who had been with the practice, leaving and going elsewhere. I followed my doctor to her new practice. I would not recommend Village Medical to ANYONE. I'm confused by all of the negative reviews. Dr. Vellani and her staff have been extremely patient with me and my unknown medical condition that lasted three years. The office staff has been nothing but professional. Never rude at all. The only issue I can remember was being told I had a co-pay when I already paid; but this was quickly remedied and the person I was speaking to was polite and professional. I have to say that village medical is undoubtedly the worst dr. office I have been to. It. is corporate medicine at its worst. For starters when you call to make an appointment you're not calling the office your call goes to a call center. there is no way to reach the office. I have been trying to get an appointment I called and I was told someone would call back. That never happened so I called again 3 days later still no call back finally 6 days after i made my first attempt I finally received a call. Great I show up on time sat there for over30 minutes. So I ask what was the delay they said they were waiting for my insurance to approve the treatment. To me would they have not done that before I showed up? I have been going VM for many years but that place has turned in a nightmare Do Not go there to any VM facility . read more

While I liked my doctor, the administrative staff is horrible. It is IMPOSSIBLE to talk to ANYONE in the office by telephone because they farm out their call center overseas. Like Eric B. said, where to start...I really like my doctor and followed him from another practice that Village Medical purchased. It has been mostly a frustrating disappointment every since. I am older and have been to many clinics over the years and this is the worst by far. I stayed because of my doctor and thought they had to get better, but it has unfortunately reached a new low. From billing issues, to messing up prescription orders and refills, I used to be able to contact them and get it straightened out. Now they have not bothered to answer my last inquiries regarding a declined prescription and billing error. It has been over a month since the first of those inquiries so now it says I must resubmit my question because it has been over 30 days! It is not like I am asking for free medical advice, these are their problems that unfortunately impact me. Last straw is I called in to set an appointment to see my doctor about intense heart burn that has lasted for over two weeks. They said soonest available was November, and this was in June. Maybe they don't like Medicare patients that much so just chasing us away. Anyway, time for a change. I only give two stars because my husband really likes Troy Passmore, otherwise it would be 1 star. I encountered the same billing issues as other reviewers. My husband goes to the doctor once a year for physical. He indicated he had been feeling tired and figured it was low T due to his age. Testosterone is a normal test always ordered in annual labs, so it was not an extra screening/lab. He also mentioned his cholesterol was a little high last year, but managed it without Rx. We proceeded to receive a bill for $116 and was advised it was because he was a new patient establishing care for an existing condition. What? We emailed with billing a dozen times to no avail. We have never in 10 years had to pay for the annual wellness exam. Do not use Village Medical for annual physical/ wellness. read more

She's rude and rushed me through the entire appointment then sent me a bill. I wasn't charged for labs but because I inquired on a skin issue I got a bill for almost 90.00. Ridiculous. read more

I have the same complaint as Nathan G one year ago and it appears that Village Medical has not addressed this mischarging practice. During our respective yearly physicals, my wife and I have each been charged with (a) depression screening and (b) Alohol Misuse/15 minutes. These screenings did not take place nor did any of my responses suggest these screenings were needed. When calling the billing number of 888-978-1055 in two different dates, the rep said that they understood and that they would reverse this charge after investigation. No call back occurred. I wrote to the Dr. Swierupski entry twice on the portal with no response. Then a month later, I got the nagging bill reminder phone call where this third party billing company said that Village Medical disagreed and I still had to pay. After ten great years, this company has been mismanaged with cases like this. My wife and I will be looking elsewhere. Been going here for more than 20 years with the same PCP the whole time. Once village medical bought them out you no longer have any way to contact the office or your provider. Use the on line portal, that's it. Send them a message in the portal and get a response that has nothing to do with your message. Who ever is on the other end of the portal tool talks in circles without ever saying or solving anything relevant to my request. This scenario has repeated it self so many times I've lost count. Most recently I've been waiting months for my medical records and Village medical is impossible to deal with. I sure miss being able to talk directly to the office, my PA, and MA. I'm done. I found a new PCP at a small office and sure hope it's not anything like village medical Good bye forever read more

These negative ratings make no sense to me. I have been a patient for almost two years and have had nothing but positive experiences with my providers. My initial doctor retired, so I had to see a new one last week. She was just as excellent and caring as the previous. She went above and beyond, taking the time to listen and ask questions. She took a comprehensive medical history to get a holistic picture of my overall health instead of focusing on the issue that I was concerned with, and it was such a refreshing change of pace compared to some of my previous doctors. The front office staff is also attentive, kind, and communicative. I highly recommend Village Medical. read more

FRAUD. Be aware of your medical bill. The doctors and staff are friendly, but this company's billing office is a total scam. The billing office charged me $292 for a 50-second conversation about my rash (not a big deal) between the physician and me with code 99214. The doctor glanced at my rash from a distance and told me to continue applying the OTC cortisone cream I used twice daily. That's all, no detailed history, no examination, no prescription, 50 seconds. I asked for a correction of the billing; the billing office answered that this outpatient charge was just because my record showed a new issue of rash in the left neck. According to the American Medical Association, the authority on CPT code set, code 99214 is defined as "established patient office or other outpatient visit, 30-39 minutes." AMA defines typical patient description: "Patients with progressing illness or acute injury that requires medical management or potential surgical treatment". My situation does not fall into any criteria, even if I am not close to it. The billing office claimed to the insurance and charged me. More importantly, this is not the first time. Two or three years ago, the billing office charged me without any reason. They had to drop off the charge because I went to the office and forced the front desk to contact the billing office and give me an explanation. Since I made a big scene in front of patients in the waiting room, the front desk could no longer push me away. The billing office took a break, then came back on me again. Last time, I didn't report to the insurance company, but this time, I won't let it go. read more

Village still neglects it's duties to follow up to poor medical service, along with 8/25/21 review My Father saw the Doctor, it was a chronic but non series medical condition, they verified the Pharmacy and after checking in person and on the phone with the Pharmacy and then with Village Medical the Rx was never called in... several days later we received in via: Mail Rx Service, then duplicated it and sent again, probably due to multiple phone calls and BILLED US TWICE! If you note Village Medical gave a polite reply, I filled out the form AND STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE! Almost 2 weeks later, let's face it, VILLAGE MEDICAL JUST DOESN'T CARE!!! My experience here exemplifies why I don't go to the doctor. It was a waste of time and money. My provider left the practice, so I made an appointment with another provider. Unfortunately, my experience with them was poor, and I won't be returning. I didn't feel like the provider listened or cared. In addition, she gave improper advice that the nurse luckily corrected. I look at the money I spent to see the provider and to have labs, and I wish I had stayed home and put the money towards one of my bills. I recommend finding someone who listens and cares. I went recently in for a simple yearly wellness check, and was surprised to be billed for close to $200 worth of blood work that Medicare "did not cover". When I asked for help and an explanation the response was pretty much "you owe us the money, we expect payment, call Medicare to see why it was denied". I did so, and Medicare quickly determined that the coding and authorizations were incorrectly filed by the Doctor or Office staff, and it it next to impossible to get to talk with anyone about getting this fixed. Try to call billing, and the wait time is 30 minutes or more. Leave my number for an automatic call back, that has yet to happen. I went to the office in person, no one there would even come out to talk to me, they gave me......you guessed it...... a phone number to call. This was my last visit. You cannot, repeat CANNOT, call the office locally, you get instead a call center in Texas who can schedule and "pass your question or concern along". This used to be a nice, local Doctor's Office. It is not anything like that now. Stay away. There's far better out there, all of this in my opinion of course. read more

The person on the phone was difficult to understand but we got scheduled for less than one week out. If patients are directed to schedule online, it would be nice if it worked! read more

I started going to this office because I had been seeing Dr. Hume at his last practice and followed him over. I wish he never moved. I had my initial new patient physical appt with him. Unfortunately, I have not been able to schedule with him since. Then my extreme complaint is calling into the office. They use some sort of 3rd party system. So, you call, pick an option, sit on hold with some music and informational prompts until finally someone answers with a heavy accent. It is impossible to actually talk to one of the front office staff who works in the Village Medical building. I just hung up from waiting on hold for 23 min before gave up. I was just in the office yesterday and did not receive the order for the MRI with the rest of my paperwork. All I need is the order for the MRI sent to the imaging center so I can have it done. Now it appears to be quicker to drive the 25 min the office to be able to talk to the front office staff and have them copy the order and physically hand it to me so I can then bring it to the imaging center. read more

Village Medical itself is a horrible management firm but the doctors, especially at this partice are down right negligent. I've been through 5 doctors with Village Medical. All would like me to believe I am making my symptoms up and that I am crazy. I've never been gaslit by a medical professional before but I suppose there's a first for everything. So after two years of arguing with doctors, urgent care visits and an ER visit. I landed here and she talked a good game at first. She was insistent that she be my only provider because coordinating care with other doctors gets messy. So, I was like fine. After 4 appointments with her and one with a rude nurse practitioner, not one was addressing my concerns. I described what was happening and insisting its from my thyroid being off since I know what that feels like and have been dealing with it for nearly two decades. I know when something is off. She finally agreed and did minimal testing instead of a full thyroid panel. Optimal range for THS is 3.5 or below. Mine was WAY out of range at a 10.7. Lab documentation even says it's way too high. She says it's OK, your t4 is fine. We'll, no it's not fine. She refused to adjust my meds. Even when I insisted. So I ended up dosing myself extra every other day to relieve symptoms. She then said labcorp was wrong and wanted me to come into the pratice to get labs AGAIN two days after I just had them done. Um, are you paying for these new labs since you don't thunk Labcorp did a sufficient job? My guess would be now. Negligent. The knowing what she knows I am sent to a cardiologist who naturally ran all sorts of tests only to tell me after my thyroid is liking causing my symptoms and I need to see yet another specialist if my pcp will not adjust. It's like they like to keep you ill for money. read more

I loved my doctor but I am now forced to change PCP. Village Medical decided they would no longer take my Medicare plan but they never told me or notified me. I found out when I asked for referral to a chiropractor and they told me they would no longer honor my plan. I challenged them by calling my insurance who three wayed a call to them but they still refused. my insurance provider advised that I am in their plan but I am so tired of makibg phone calls. This was horrible customer service. This provider is totally money motivated and the front office staff sucks. read more

ABSOLUTE JOKE. I have been to this practice many times and left every single time beyond irritated and rarely with the help i went their for. this last time was my absolute final time i will never waste my time or money here again. i went in for a ongoing issue that needed daily medication and Christine leeche barely let me speak before prescribing a medication that only had enough for two days and a max of two re-fills (so 6 days). she never gave me any instructions on the medication nor did she tell me side affects or anything else. she then recommended me to take something that my stomach specialist told me i could not take and even after i informed her of this she still urged me to disregard that and take it anyways. NEVER IN MY LIFE has a doctor told me to disregard another doctors advice. I then spent over 3 hours getting put on hold and being hung up on 6 separate times to try to get ahold of someone to explain my medication to me as well as actually address the problem i had gone their for. I ended up getting a voicemail from her "director of patient care" explaining that they want me take the medication for two days and then they will review my file on monday. Had they actually done their jobs the first time or even listened to a single thing i had said the entire treatment plan would have been different. i have since had 3 different doctor's confirm that. read more
