Yah it's a fancy building but you think the lobbies would be a bit more comfortable if they're planning to make people wait around for so long after their appointment time. Not sure if the doctor had some issues with a patient and ran over or if admin just can't book properly but it's a little ridiculous. Consider the patient checks themselves in and can even process their own payment, I don't really understand how complicated the remaining admin work has to be... however, they're unable to give updates or estimates so you can end up waiting up to an hour or so past your actual appointment time. Like I've renewed my Drivers License in a short turn around time. It could be that earlier appointment had arrived late as I did see admin staff letting patients check in well past their actual appointment time. Again, that's something the office staff should be able to monitor a bit more responsively. I might would recommend arriving about 30 minutes late if you don't want to wait around cuz they'll let you in anyway and then you won't have to wait. Also, don't any of your paperwork online or on your phone. The receptionist doesn't check their systems so you'll apparently just sit around until you finally get up to ask if the doctor is ever going to call you back. Redeeming quality of the shop being one staff member, I think Tiffany was her name. She caught me in the lobby thinking I was on the way out... when I told her I hadn't been back yet, she promptly fixed that issue. I was with a doctor within ten minutes from that. read more

I have been a patient of Village Medical for over 25 years and patient of Dr Lee Edwards for at least 10 years. I have really liked having Dr Edwards as my Doctor. I tried to reschedule my appointment with her last week after the automated system sent me a message that my current August appt with her was cancelled. When I called to re-schedule I was informed she was no longer with Village Medical. I asked where she had moved to and was given no info. I have sent messages in Patient Portal. No responses. Normally a letter or notification is sent out if a MD is leaving a Practice. I reached out to the Practice Manager and left 2 messages. No response. I spoke to someone in the Call Center today to ask what was going on that none of my messages were being returned. Come to find out the Call Center and Billing & Insurance Center is now located in Central America which is why everyone who answers the phone has a heavy foreign accent that is barely audible unless you are Hispanic. I think this is so unprofessional that there has been no communication to her long standing patients or all of her patients for that matter that she was leaving the practice and what my choices were for having a physician take over my records. It is terrible that Dr Edwards is gone, she was a great female Doctor and I will miss her terribly. I am so disgusted with how Village Medical has handled this that there is no reason for me to stay with them as a patient. Dr Edwards is gone so I will look elsewhere for a new MD. It is also ridiculous that when you call into the office all calls are being routed to a Call Center in Central America instead of someone local here in Houston, Tx taking my calls. To say I am appalled by all this is putting it lightly. Dr Edwards and her Nurse Heather were always so good to me and I felt well taken of by them. I'm unbelievably disappointed.... Whatever you do, don't go to Village Medical. I'm caring for a 69-year-old man who started going there because it was so close to home. He didn't look at their reviews. Big Mistake! Every time he needed a new prescription, it became a huge hassle. You need to call 2 to 3 days in advance because doctors won't stop what they are doing to refill your prescriptions. Its only done at the end of the day. God forbid if you forget and call in two days before you need them. I needed a refill on my prescription, so I called in the prescription mid-day on the 9th of January, which was a Friday. I only had enough pills to get me through the 11th, which was a Sunday. Consequently, I called Village Medical to get my meds called in asap. That did not happen! We did not get those pills until Tuesday because we had to call in again on Monday. What a hassle!! I went in for my well check-up and they charged me for an additional visit, when nothing was done! They charged me for an additional 25-39 minute visit on top of my visit, the doctor was in the room for 11 minutes!! I came in for them to simply review and certify my immunization records for college. They took forever to sign the needed document. Then after three days of the doctor refusing to sign anything until I jumped through every hoop put in front of me. They lose my original vaccination records. They're not in my patient file and the nurse that I handed the files to, is not here. So I once again have to wait for them to give me records that they have clearly misplaced. I have been a patient of Dr Lee Edwards at Village Medical Katy for several years. I recently tried to get my meds refilled. The pharmacy needed a new prescription and the doctor declined because it was time for the annual physical. Ok, sounds good. I'll make the appointment. I logged on to make the appointment. Dr Edwards had no open appointments for the physical they were making me have. Plenty of sick visit appointments, but zero for physicals. So, the patient portal gave me the option of other doctors in the office. I picked one of the offered doctors and made the appointment. A few days before the appointment, I got a text message to complete my online pre-check which I did right away....all set. THEN the day before the appointment I get a call telling me my appointment was cancelled because the doctor the patient portal offered me was not accepting new patients. NEW?? I've been going here for years AND my doctor has no appointments for physicals! So what am I supposed to do now?? Start over with a new doctor because mine has no appointments for physicals for the next 120 days?? If I'm going to start over, might as well be at a new doctor's office that does not up and cancel the appointment they offered me. Surreal. read more

Terrible customer service. I can't get a callback from the doctor I saw or her nurse. I have left phone messages and messages through the portal. I have spoken with the office manager who said she would "investigate" and have heard nothing back. The doctor either ran a bunch of labs that were not covered by my insurance for a well woman, or coded them wrong. A very frustrating situation. Like all the very large practices with multiple locations, to talk to an actual person in that specific office is impossible. Person I spoke with in billing today said he would email me a form for complaints to escalate my problem - nope - never got it. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO LIVE. They REFUSE to treat some patients. If you get really sick or injured and end up in the hospital they will probably cut off all contact and refuse to help you. This resulted in one long-time patient going to the ER, being admitted, starved to the point of collapse - me BEGGING the doctor to intervene & being refused - and the patient being sent to a nursing home to die. I have to take family leave so I can bring medicine and nourishment from home to him, and nursing him while in the hospital because the so-called doctors at Village Medical REFUSE to intervene or treat. They are only doctors while you are IN their office apparently & some of them just push pills on people. This is a medical practice that employees several Doctors across multiple locations. The doctors seem to rotate b/w locations. There are about 10-20 doctors per location. I've used them for years because its convenient, im established and they accept my insurance. If you are established here, you have to have an online account with them so you can schedule appointments / read notes etc. This saves a ton of time and makes the experience far less painful. This also allows you to avoid calling them. The biggest issues have been the bad doctors. When you get a bad one, you will know it. They generally dont seem to care, act snobby, and just want to get you in and out as fast as possible. Sorry to bother you. Generally, but not always, these are the doctors that always seem to have availability, and esp, but not always, last minute. So chances are, if you make an appt for the same day, you run a good risk at landing one of the bad ones. Billing - a few times I have been sent "surprise" bills. Homie dont think so. Usually this is just a waste of time having to call them and explain you already paid your co-pay. If you are uninsured, I imagine this will be a much more difficult task to resolve. It doesn't happen often to me, but it has. Overall, the place has a very impersonal feel to it but I think it provides a very basic level of care, enough to get you by. If you need your hand held a little longer you may be better off at a smaller practice. The key is having online access to avoid the staff and picking or getting the right doctor. read more

I can't describe how much she has helped me. Then I see Tiffanie Villasana for my Type 1 diabetes. Let me tell you! She has helped my diabetes and helped me manage it so well. My husband. My husband and I both go to Village Medical and they were really great during the pandemic. Once office visits were opened, the quality has gone down. Which brings me to my husband... He went to the doctor last year and was told he was borderline diabetic and gave him pills saying these will prevent it from getting worse. Nothing about having to stick yourself for blood sugar. Then he went to the doctor because he wasn't feeling that great. Change in eyesight, swollen tongue, fatigue, rapid weight loss, peeing a lot, and constant thirst. So they drew blood. The next morning, my daughter and I both noticed that he was extremely unsteady, slurring his words, not "with it" and obnoxious. So she called me and asked if he should go to hospital, and I said yes. Once at the hospital, they pricked him. His blood sugar was 1450 and his A1C. When daughter got there with hubby, she told them she thought he was having a diabetic stroke. Luckily, he didn't. But Methodist stated that this BS was the highest they have ever seen, and the fact that he came out of it with 0 damage, except maybe his eyes, that is a miracle. What is the point? They should have taken his Blood Sugar at the office and noticed it was high and acted accordingly. There by the grace of God, I still have my amazing husband and grateful that my daughter and I figured things out. BTW, the one doctor contacted me 9 hours after he had already gone to the doctor to tell me to take him to the hospital. read more

I love this place. I have always hated dealing with doctors and seems most places you go the staff is always rude after you wait an hour past your appointment time BUT not this place! I have never waited longer than 5 minutes, the staff is always friendly, informative and patient with me. I see Dr Michelle Sablatura for everything and if it's an issue that needs to be addressed by a specialist, then she goes above and beyond to make sure that I am getting the care I need. She is THE BEST! I feel that I can trust her and she listens to me and for me, that's important because it's my body and I am my best advocate. She gets that. The only issue I have ever had with Village Medical is the referral department and I don't completely blame them, as my mailing address and my residential address are not the same, so I can imagine that's confusing. All I have to do is message my doctor on the app and she gets it fixed asap. read more

I have been a patient with this practice for over 10 years . I asked for a refill on a medication and I was told I had to come in even though I was caught up on blood work and all visits. My last visit Dr. Troyan asked if I needed any at this time I said no sir and he said okay when you do just to call him. Guess what..I needed some a few months after my visit and I was told to make a appointment. This has put my health in jeopardy having to wait for a appointment. Not happy with diagnosis procedure. They put me on hydrochlorothiazide to assist with blood pressure and then test results said I had stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). My insurance dropped me. I went from paying $500/month to $1,500/month for health insurance. I was unemployed at the time, so yes I was on the non-ACA insurance that was designed for people in good health. I told him it was the medication and he insisted it was from the high blood pressure. He kept me on the medication. I stopped taking it and no sign of CKD. Then he said I was anemic and put me on an iron supplement. Now I have high Ferritin levels and I am seeing a specialist who says I am not anemic. The last straw was a two-year-old bill they sent me earlier this year (2023). It was not there until May 2023. They said they were trying to collect from the insurance company since 2021. I am no longer with that insurance company due to them dropping me. It was for a urine analysis that was not covered by insurance that was part of my physical. They told me it was covered at the time. Current doctor does not get a urine sample - all tests are from my blood - said urine sample is not needed. So this tells me they order tests that are not needed. These folks are a bunch of clowns and I would rather die in a ditch then walk into another one of their clinics. read more

I asked a couple questions about migraine during my physical exam and it probably took 3 minutes of her time. Recently I got a bill charged me for a whole other office visit of $376! I have not been pleased with this medical establishment. First let me preface that I have lupus and I take medication that wipes out my immune system. They are fully aware of this and I am assigned to ONE doctor for consistency in care. I haven't seen him in over a year!!! I call to make an appointment, go to my appointment, it was not with my regular dr and not in Katy like agreed upon. I am terribly Ill. Begged for one to see me, sorry, if you 'think' you are that sick go to er. I did. I was in strange 5 kidney failure, very, very low BP dehydrated etc,. I spent 5 days in the ICU. When I leave the hospital they tell me to follow up with my primary in two weeks. Called to make an appointment and wouldn't you know it my dr is not available. So they book me with someone I have never seen or heard. So two weeks later he gives me a clean bill of health. Very next day I go to my nephrologist, he takes one look at me and says you look bad. What's wrong. Starts examining my file and my exiting file from hospital. He said I had lost 30 pounds in the 2 weeks since you left the hospital, writes a prescription for me to go back in!!! Now today I have been very sick for 6 days, and my regular dr has no opening for 3 weeks!!! Are you kidding me. By then I will be in the icu. Waste of time. I started off calling at 8am making an appt for 9:20 same day because I woke up swollen and in pain. Then received a call around 8:30 to change it to a telehealth visit instead of in person which was fine with me. I called at 9:17 because I hadn't received a link via message nor email, their answering service said they'd reach out to the office. I called again at 9:22 because I hadn't received anything yet, they gave me the same answer: they'll reach out to them, but this time they were "a bit behind" which I get... I called again 9:48, same thing- "someone will reach out soon. Then I CALLED AGAIN at 10:23! They did not call me back in regards to my appointment until 11:57... and it was just her technician/nurse getting my HPI. She then told me the doctor would call back in about 30 minutes to an hour... I couldn't say anything because I had already paid for my visit at 9am... I then received the link for my telehealth visit with my Doctor at 12:11... why did it take 3 HOURS for the doctor to see me. If they push back the telehealth visits then schedule them later in the morning rather in between her schedule. I get that doctors get busy but I know I wouldn't have had this issue in person. Especially because I would've said something to their face rather than to an answering person who doesn't have any medical Knowledge. TO TOP IT OFF my prescriptions were never sent to my pharmacy... i called the after hours answering service (it's a Friday evening) and they wanted to charge me again to speak to a doctor! There's no need to talk to a doctor again. I just need someone to do their job and send my medications to my pharmacy!!!!!! read more

I've been coming to VM for a few years now. I have had good experiences and bad ones. My good ones are how clean the rooms are! They do keep them clean especially good since you know the volume of people they see every day. They have a X-ray machine in the building, and down stairs for ultrasounds. Pretty convenient instead of having to possibly go somewhere else. My favorite dr is Dr Robert vanzat. He's always super kind and respectful. He actually cares and you can tell. (He's also an amazing photographer) The people at the front desk are 9/10 times pretty nice and helpful. My favorite is Tiffani. If your not able to get in with dr Robert vanzat I recommend Godfreed! She doesn't take Bs and won't give you bs! I can always get an apt with her whenever i need. They also have some amazing nurses who know how to deal with needle phobia and work super fast and officiant. My bad experiences are The wait times, your either in the main lobby, back lobby or waiting in the room waiting forever for your doc. I normally come 10-15 min early for my apts and get sent back to the waiting area for even 30 min after my apt time. The constant back and forth with insurance companies about referral they give me. Either they refer me to a specialist that DOES NOT accept my insurance or they don't accept new patients, or completely the wrong one. I got referred to a gyno but they referred me to a Oncologist Gyno. The oncology practice messaged me and said they did not need me to come in due to me not having cancer. I just need a regular gyno!!! The oncology practice even let me know this happens a lot with VM. Their are doctors that work with VM who I do not trust and that's Crystal Pouncil, NURSE PRACTITIONER. She was rude and rushed. Other people love her but I had a bad experience. In conclusion I don't highly recommend this place but their are a few good ones here. It's a convenient location and my insurance takes it so that's why I keep coming. read more

I have been a patient of this group since it was just the two Dr Fields in a small office in Hedwig Village in the 90s. My experience this week will make it my last with this organization. I had an appointment on 3/25 for extreme back and neck pain and numbness in right arm. I was sent for X Rays and the X-ray results on 3/26 called for a referral to a spine doctor due to moderate to severe issues c4 thru C7. It is now end of business 4/1 and I still do not have a referral from Ms Pouncil or Village, despite the fact that I left info on a Dr that was in my plan and could see me this week. Instead I go into the weekend unable to drive, sit upright or sleep at all. I have called 6+ times, messaged my GP, the referral department and everyone else at the clinic - to no avail. It appears that I will now have to setup another Primary Care and go thru another "initial visit" somewhere else to get a referral - another week + in misery and out of work, all due to the absolute disregard shown by Village. She was very nice but informed me there was no medical staff on site, there would be no doctors there all day and the first physicians assistant wouldn't be there for an hour or 2. What is the point in them opening if there is no medical staff? If you try and book an appointment online there are none for 10 days. read more

I wish I could give this outfit zero stars. Our doctor of 25 years gave up his own practice and joined Village Medical (VM). Since that time, we have had repeated issues with billing mistakes and inability to contact the office by phone, text or email. The culmination of this dreadful experience was a bill for bloodwork. Bloodwork that should have been coded as "medically necessary". After 4 months of going backwards and forwards with procrastination from VM, we were told by the company who had performed the tests that the bill was going to a collection agency. We reluctantly paid the bill ourselves and have severed ties with our long time doctor. read more

Some of the doctors are good and some just seem in a rush to get you out of their office as quick as possible, problems resolved or not. I chose Village Medical because my daughter had a pleasant experience with one of their providers and really likes her, so I made my first appointment, followed by a second which included having a blood draw. My provider sent orders for a mammogram and ultrasound and I had both done at an imaging center on July 3rd, 2021. Imaging assured me results would be in by the following Tuesday, July 6th. I received mammogram results by mail a week later, but have yet to receive my ultrasound results which were sent to Village Medical by imaging almost a week ago. Here it is almost 3 weeks later, and I haven't heard a word from my Village Medical provider. I get that imaging was done on a holiday weekend, but that's no excuse...when I was at imaging, I was the only patient there. While I like my provider, I'm not at all pleased with the snails pace Village takes with sending imaging results. Kudos to MHH Katy Imaging for sending mammogram results directly to their patients! read more

My doctor is Dr. Roberto Álvarez. a great physician and I have had him for many years. However, his affiliation to Village Medical is a disaster. This the most bureaucratic place I know that shields the doctor and everybody working at the office to the point of prolonging pain and treatment. Forget about referrals, they will happen only when Village Medical says so. Even the attendants at Village Medical do not speak fluent English and would benefit from speech lessons, because I had to ask them very often to repeat. They ask the same questions over and over again. I spent all morning trying to get that referral investigated and they would not do it. When Village Medical took over patient needs and concerns took a backseat to money. Roughly 90% of there reviews are about the 'call center' and communications but they go ahead and spread the reviews around all their offices to make it looks like they don't just have one star. For the love of god don't run out of your medicine because they will take three days and still not call in the prescription. No stars. Village Medical seems to abhor any communication between doctors and patients. I called their "boiler room" call center with questions, they said they would relay but did not. They are not allowed to give out the local office phone number. Have tried using the "portal" and it says "we'll get back to you within two business days." Even if true, when you need to speak to your doctor or nurse, two days is too long! What if I have a painful stomach ache now! Have tried setting up a zoom meet but somehow the invite got mis-sent. Village Medical's business model is a cut-the-cost "gatekeeping system." You are not supposed to be calling your local doctor's office to talk with doctor when necessary, talk to nurse, or set up appointments. I LOVE my doctor but my messages on the portal are not being read--am receiving a rote answer that isn't helping. Also, my results for a test were not delivered in timely manner. I want a doctor I can communicate with when necessary. read more

The COVID screener took my temperature and logged it as 94.2. I guess she wasn't alerted to re-check or call a nurse. In the X-ray room I told the technician that there was something dripping down the wall from the ceiling. He said "Yeah, that's been there since I started. I don't know what it is." Okay... On to do lab work... There are 3 rooms where the technicians collect blood etc. They is a privacy curtain at the entrance of each room. None of the curtains were fully hung. All 3 curtains were partially on the rod and partially hanging down. All of these concerns are easy fixes. I hope someone from their office reads this. :) read more

These people are horrible. I wouldn't recommend taking a dog there. I already put in a lengthy explanation of what happened and it was removed. Bottom line is I had a supposed doctor at the Pearland facility tell me I had COPD so bad he couldn't help me. No medication, no referral, no recommendations. Just your on your own.
