Yuck. The salsa was horrible. If you want real Mexican head over to The Whole Enchilada

Happy hour is EVERYDAY 11-5pm. We were welcomed when we came in and the space was lovely. Very well decorated and the color choices just pop! We choose to sit at the bar and have our meal. We were greeted kindly by Mariah who took our drink order promptly. She was very kind, fun to talk with, helpful and fast with our orders. We normally drink a pitcher of margaritas but decided on individual glasses of the Krazy fresh margaritas for $12.00/ea. They definitely lived up to their name and came in the cutest kisses fish faced glasses. That was a first for me drinking a margarita out of that design. Our appetizer was the chicken empanadas that came out crispy and hot. The additional sauce drizzled across them was a nice touch to the dish. We also had chips with dipping salsa, crab dip, guacamole, and a hot sauce. The chips were hearty and the guacamole was my favorite. Although the crab was a close second! We shared one Mesquite grilled black Angus ribeye steak. It came out in a cutting board with grilled cabbage, peppers and onions. After a few more cocktails and shots that ribeye was so good we had to order a 2nd one to share. Trying to pick a favorite off the menu was tough. Everything sounded amazing so we made the choice from what we liked and were not disappointed. The manager Randy was super knowledgeable on the products and gave us some great suggestions. We left full and happy. Going to have to make it back to try the rest. Definitely found a new favorite spot to be in Bay City! Definitely a clean, safe, friendly environment to spend your time.

The main course steak filet medallions, cooked correct, presented well, covered in grease. My margarita you are probably thinking how can a drink be greasy well guess what I went to pick it up -Literally a layer of grease on the glass. My forehead after my meal so greasy George w bush would have invaded it.

Two orders of taco and a taco salad at the table, both looked good, no complaints from the ones that ordered. Wife got the Chimi and said it was really good, daughter had the steak burrito, good but said the steak was a little dry. You get chips and salsa as soon as you sit down (as you should). The bad(s) only have bottled pop, they serve the Mexican version of coke and Fanta, which you have to purchase by the bottle. The syrup container you have to pour the salsa out of were a pain, but I just took the top off. Salsa it's self was good, some at the table didn't care for the added cilantro and thought that it wasn't sweet enough. I really hope this place makes it, it was good food at a reasonable price point for a sit down Mexican restaurant.

The restaurant is spotless, modern, and comfortable. The challenge is consistency from the kitchen. I have enjoyed the chicken chimichanga, refried beans, fresh tortilla chips, shrimp fajitas, chicken tortilla soup, and the chicken and rice with queso. If there is something that you want, just ask and they will try to make it happen.

While visiting Michigan, I stopped into Gilley's and ordered a custom breakfast plate because I'm on a special diet. It was so good that I came back twice. I've jokingly started calling it the "El San Diego" breakfast plate. The pork was flavorful, the food was fresh, and everything was cooked perfectly. What really stood out was the service. On my return visit, the owner remembered my order and personally whipped up the same El San Diego breakfast plate for me again. It was just as incredible the second time. Friendly staff, great food, great ambiance, and genuine 5 star hospitality. As a Southern California Mexican food snob, I can honestly say Gilley's exceeded my expectations. I'll definitely be back a third time before I leave.

After a quick Yelp search, we found Gilly's and are glad we did! The restaurant is tucked away in an old business district...many of the neighboring businesses are closed. It has a parking area in the back but we just parked on the street out front. The staff was very friendly when we ordered at the counter. I ordered a wet burrito. (For those not from around here-it's basically a burrito with some sauce on top). It was very good and I couldn't finish it all. My husband and son both ordered quesadillas, which they liked. My husband said his steak quesadilla was a bit greasy but that was the only negative of our whole meal. We also shared some street corn fries, which we loved. It was street corn on top of fries. I loved the corn so much that I will just get a side of that on my next visit-but the fries were great too. The menu doesn't say it but they told me they would also make items with corn tortillas if a gluten free dish is needed. This may be a new favorite in Bay City! The location is a little out of the way but definitely worth finding!
