Friends, I dined today at Uptown Grill, and I think I have found my new All-Time #1 Favorite Restaurant In The United States (a coveted position strongly held by Founding Farmers in Washington DC since 2011. This is a close call.) Okay, here's the deal. My tastebuds EXPERIENCED things today! We went to Uptown Grill in Bay City because when I looked up Brunch places in Bay City, the first picture was (you might want to sit down for this) BAKLAVA FRENCH TOAST. So, today, I celebrated Mother's Day with my HeartMom and we finally made it to our Brunch. We simply could not decide what to get, so we ordered our own little buffet! ‍ Baklava French Toast is EXACTLY what angels from Greece make in heaven every day for breakfast. I cried a little. At the suggestion of our FABULOUS server, Gwen (oh, I hope that's your name, sweetie, you were amazing!) We got 1 a la carte slice each of their 4 specialty French Toasts: Baklava, Blueberry Bread, Banana Bread, Zucchini Bread. I can't pick a favorite. They were all just mouthwatering delights! Not to not were the individual toppings perfect (bananas, walnuts and caramel for the banana bread, a lightly sweet glaze for the zucchini, and crumbled baklava drizzled in honey and some magical blueberry sauce that I wanted to lick the plate), the breads were FANTASTIC! Melt in your mouth, flavorful delights. I'd eat them stale. But I couldn't ignore the Lobster Brie Omelet or the Harvest Benedict, and when we were walking in, some girl at the bar was eating what looked like a Monte Cristo made with waffles, and then a friend said we needed to try their sugar waffles because they were AH-amazing. So, we welcomed them all to the party! The hard part was that things were SO cheap!! All of this - HUGE portions - cost around $75!! We each had about 2 bites of everything (I don't think together we ate a full meal, but we walked out with a giant bag of leftovers, and both as stuffed as Thanksgiving turkeys!) and I promise you, we are now CHANGED!! Every single bite gave me goosebumps. The combinations of sweet and savory, and flavors that blend so perfectly combined with what might be culinary genius - everything cooked perfectly - I'm telling you, even the Pope's nipples would be hard! It's now been 8 hours since my visit, and I really haven't thought about much else. I even had a whole conversation with my daughter in another state about exploring the possibilities of mailing her an order. (Can you still mail food?) So, even though I live 2.5 hours away, I'm counting the days until I can get back there. The food was very good, the pancakes were very sizable. The fruity pebble pancakes seemed twice the size of the banana walnut ones but both very big. My friend had complained that the omelette was just made out of egg and the extra things were simply stuffed inside rather than cooked into it. All of our sides were delicious, as were the drinks. The booth was a bit small for the three of us and if we had anymore people we probably wouldn't fit. The feel of the place with very clean, and definitely have a summer beach feel, especially being so close to the water. Idk what the rest of my fellow bay city people are thinking but this place is horrible...service is terrible. Long wait even after sitting at a table, wich mind you was never offered to sit at the bar, learned after it was open seating. waitress brought out waters to tables that sat down after us and took their drink order before even looking at our table. Everything just moved so slow and there's plenty of waitstaff to keep things moving They just don't seem that capable apparently. As far as ambiance its small so crowded. Sort of has a weird tacky vibe like they were going for sorta classy but yet still diner setting and I know this is just personally to me but not a fan. For food why are you charging $5 for like 6oz of orange juice. The fact ketchup was brought for my potato wedges they call hash should have been the first food red flag. got the brisket hash and barely any brisket, zero seasoning, not even some salt on the potatoes... at least the over easy eggs were done right cause I needed that yolk in the mix! Zero seasoning on the green peppers and onion that was sautéed in and not carmelized enough to not need seasoning. The best done part sadly was the rye toast with butter on it. Whoever the chef is please work on your seasoning or I guess stay in bay city where you'll never have to worry about much food critic wise cause well most people here aren't well traveled enough to realize this slop. read more

Great restaurant with great food. They have a lot of unique options which I like. I had the egg white omelette with lobster and brie cheese. I didn't taste any Brie cheese in the omelette. The flavors were good though, and it was a nice change of pace from a veggie omelette, which is what I usually would get. I was asked if I want to post for a side of pancakes. I said I don't usually get any toast or side was it included? I was told yes it was included. So I got a side of sweet potato pancakes. When I got the bill though, they charge me an extra two dollars for the sweet potato pancakes that I didn't want to begin with, and only got because I was told it was included. The other two people I was with got pancakes and French toast, which was good. One thing they could do to make. The experience better is offer real maple syrup for a slight up charge my two guests I was with Head honey instead of the fake maple syrup. The service was very slow. But the staff was friendly and engaging. They were apologetic for the long week but it was a Sunday morning and they were super busy. We had to wait about a half an hour to be seated and then about 45 minutes at least before we received our food after being seated and our order taken. We had such a great experience! We did choose to come during busy brunch hours so be prepared for a wait but the food is 100% worth it! Fresh fruit, great variety of dishes to choose from. We ordered the traditional Benedict, lobster Benedict, Mexican omelette, banana pancakes, zucchini bread French toast and strawberry pancakes. We were about to enter this establishment when we saw that there was a large gathering, a party about to happen. The two gentlemen who work there that were sitting at tables were massless, as people started to pour in the two were mask list, so was the older female employee greeting the customers. I assume she was owner/manager either way, obviously morons. Customers were coming in and getting hugs from Syd person, no sense of social distancing or even personal space was observed. A report/complaint is going to be filed with the health department shortly. With all the companies and businesses were being responsible, and working hard at it, There's absolutely no reason to reword this business for being irresponsible. Take your business and your money elsewhere. *Update: So the owner of the establishment just messaged me, saying that I must have the wrong business and that all the employees wear masks. I was sitting outside of their business, I have pictures of the address, the name and all the people that did not have masks on. If you are going to try and lie to your customers and potential customers, try harder, don't make it so easy to call you out and prove you wrong. I have personally caused businesses who did not want to follow the rules to be shut down until they are in compliance, perhaps this should be one of them. The menu is under the glass top on the tables. It's busy for a Tuesday morning or lunchtime today. There's a bit of a wait for sure. We got in before another rush too. We were seated within 10 minutes or so. Susan is waiting on us today. She is pleasant. There are so many items on their menu I want, so much to choose from, hoping they are all carb worthy. They have fresh squeezed OJ, but it's bit sweet or very flavorful. I would have thought it to be from a carton but saw some seeds at the bottom of it. The lobster Benny looks unique with the lobster bisque, egg poached hard, a garden omelet with cinnamon toast and a single baklava French toast. The baklava French toast wasn't hot and was barely room temperature. It's a plain and bland French toast with some crumbles of baklava is all. It's bland and boring and the baklava tastes hard and maybe stale. The first lobster Benny egg was too undercooked for me, the second plate of lobster Benny had a slightly cooked egg, but the yolk was still not the way I prefer it. I decided to not ask to have it cooked more. I would have been fine with a fried egg to get a fully cooked egg. The lobster bisque soup is a great spin and accompaniment to the bits of lobster meat, which was sparse at best. I like the creamy avocado spread, it's on the thin side but gives in a change of pace to the normal Benny. The spinach and tomato are also different, not bad. You need a spoon to get the lobster bisque up, it's swimming in that goodness at least. The first Benny I couldn't tell you if there was anymore than small tiny pieces of the meat. I wasn't able to distinguish in in the half I ate first off. My husband said he only had one piece of langostino in his half of the Benny too. I would surmise the langostino was just in the bisque and no substantial patty or pat of it otherwise. The garden veggie was okay, was all fresh veggies, was rather messy to eat. Lacking in flavor and was watery. The cinnamon toast wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. The lobster Benny tasted good, just would love to see more meat on it next time. I've been here about 5 times coming home to visit family from Detroit metro & I have had astoundingly great food here. My all time favorite thing is the Waffle Cristo. Heavenly blend of sweet and salty. The Belgian waffles have the authentic sugar pearls within them. Unexpectedly in the US. Delicious. The Melba sauce is tartly sweet & perfectly complements the cheese and smoky sliced meats. Huge sandwich! This restaurant was the first place I have had hot honey as well.
