Vince's came highly recommended. i ordered a "large pizza with spinach." 4 miles into my 13-mile trip home, i flipped the lid to have a slice. it was a large white pizza with garlic and spinach. i like white pizza and i like garlic, but i like fresh garlic, not the disgusting garlic from a jar swimming in garlic slime that drips on your lap and oozes from your pores. $20 + tip and that pizza is in my trash can. i realize i didn't say "large *plain* pizza with spinach." but i certainly didn't say "large white pizza with garlic and spinach." at the very least, they should have asked. i wanted to email them, but there is no option to email on their website. i'll never go back. even if they offered me a free pizza, i'm not making a 26-mile round trip. read more

I am a former professional chef at high-end restaurants. One star reviews from jealous competitors and uninformed consumers do not count. Super delicious pizza, very similar to that at the legendary Charlie's (formerly on Roosevelt Boulevard but now at 9910 Frankford Avenue). Their original owners were cousins. A thousand times more delicious than at the chains and even most mom and pop shops. And much cheaper! Great recipes with tons of flavor. Always add extra cheese for the very best taste (wow, is it creamy and dreamy!). Experiment with other toppings to determine your favorite combination. We prefer the sausage, steak, extra cheese, and of course pepperoni, all of which are fresh and top notch. The dough is made fresh daily. As at almost all other pizzerias, the tomato sauce and mushrooms are canned. Yet, they still taste good at Vince's because they are cooked properly (to a very high temperature). But it is the overall (superior) flavor that matters. You should definitely buy the large because it costs but a dollar more than the small. You can refrigerate the leftovers, which still taste fresh if reheated within a few days. The service can be slow, rude, cranky, and occasionally mistake-prone. There is no delivery. And the restaurant is open for merely six hours every day (from 4 to 10 PM). But Vince's is definitely worth the wait and trouble. read more

solid pizza!!! it's actually so interesting because it tastes like deep dish, but it's thin crust?? the cheese is endless and stacked under a lot of the sauce too, so it's super heavy in terms of both weight and flavor! the crust is not my fav - i would like it crispier but it did a good job of holding up all the cheese and sauce that's packed in. i took off one star only because it has so much cheese, the cheese hardens after the first slice. it's so good when it's all hot and stretches out, but when it hardens it's just not as magical. read more

Great neighborhood pizza shop. We had the privilege Of trying their other location in Newtown and loved it. So it was only right to try this location, and eventually their location opening on State Road. Almost cafeteria like seating. It appeared that one server had the entire restaurant, which I liked. The walls had some family photos hanging and it felt us feel like we were part of the family. It was busy and the pies were being pushed out steadily. The pie was hot out of the oven. The sauce was sweet and cheese was melted perfectly. The crust was sturdier than the Newtown location and after much debate we concluded that this spot pushes out tastier pies. Best pizza in the NE. They're cash only pick-up/takeout and only have one phone line to call in orders, so Friday evenings can be VERY difficult for ordering. They're pretty consistently busy for good reason. If you're lucky enough to get through on a Friday evening, you cannot go wrong with a plain cheese or a white spinach, garlic, and tomato pizza. The crust is perfection and the red sauce is unique. Whenever anyone visits and requests my favorite pizza - this is it as long as we can get through. Standard wait on a Friday is about an hour, not sure about during the week though. Also not sure why we only ever seem to order on Fridays but that's consistently pizza night. read more

The dough was uncooked, it was thick, the sauce recipe changed and the mozzarella cheese was different. It was $16 for a small pizza, half mushrooms. So disappointed. I have been here quite a few times. I always get what I order and expect nothing less then some of the best pizza. The place is full of locals reliving out their good old days, where pizza was actually made from scratch and delivery wasn't a thing. We have a "pizza map" which is made by asking everyone we know what their favorite pizza place on earth is (and then trying that pizza with them at some point) This was one of the first places we tried, recommended by a friend of ours as his hometown spot! When you go into a shop like this you know the food is good. It is no frills. No bottles of oil with olives on the counters or tables. Cash only. Minimal wall decor (some family photos and a few t shirts of the business hanging up on one wall). We let our friend, a northeast local, lead the way. I saw no slices on offer and he ordered 2 large pies for us. The menu confirms that it's a wohle pie place. Furthermore, they only serve 2 things-pizza, and stromboli. haven't tried the boli, but the pizza is out of this world. Comes out steaming hot, sliced cheese under the sweet and tangy tomato sauce. Crispy crust that is my perfect texture-crunchy and not too doughy and sturdy enough to hold up to all that sauce while you're eating it. All said this was a big win on the Pizza Map. They're nothing to write home about. For the price of a small pie, I could have paid the same amount for a large elsewhere. Pizza was okay and the crust was rock hard. The general manager was giving the customer in front of me a tough time and refused to do anything when the customer returned his pie because his and his g/f weren't fans until the owner's spouse or relative took over and gave him a refund. Came here with a friend for take-out and got a 16" w/ pepperoni and sausage. Service was decent and the wait time was as stated and understandable. The first slice was above average. Only real complaints at that point was the crust was underdone on the inside and there was too much sauce which was also too sweet/tart. However, each slice after the first got worse and worse. That cheese is just not good when it cools down and gets lukewarm. It gets worse the more it cools off. It really drags down the overall flavor. Seeing the cheese become so firm in room temperature after just a short period of time leads me to believe it's very cheap. The fact that it takes them so long to cook their thin pizzas leads me to believe all of their ingredients are junk. Service is horrible. Ridiculous waits both to place an order and then to receive food after ordering. During my final visit, staff waited on tables without any consideration for who arrived before whom; and they ignored waiting customers (chiefly me!) to chit chat with other, apparently favored customers. We moved to this area from NYC in October and have really struggled to find some good pizza in the Northeast, Vince's has by far been our favorite and we're glad to have found our new pizza spot (especially during quarantine)! The cheesesteak pie was our favorite, but they were all delicious. The customer service was also incredible, super friendly staff and they even gave me a free pie that they had as an extra. Tried this place because of a glowing review by a neighbor...um...no. The two stars is for the service. The pizza was ready at the time it was promised. I am probably too generous. The pizzas themselves were less than mediocre. The crust was dry and each bite coated my mouth with flour. Maybe someone else was making pizzas today but this is nowhere near edible. I ordered a plain pie and a sausage pie. Plain had clumps of cheese. More like a tomato pie. I like tomato pies. If the crust was decent this would have been good. Stay away from sausage...horrible. I threw three fourths of that pie away. I don't know what kind of sausage they used but that stuff does not belong on pizza...ever. Not worth driving to take out...many other pizza delivery in the neighborhood with better pies. read more

Vince's pizza came to our attention by friends who loved it and believed it would be allergy safe for my family. I researched the restaurant on yelp and saw the many great reviews. I called the restaurant to confirm that they had no nuts, eggs, or shellfish ingredients in the menu. They confirmed this for me. The next step was making the trip from Jersey to this NE Philly pizza place. Let me begin by saying the staff was EXTREMELY understanding of my allergy concerns and were willing to wash their hands and take special precautions including using a newly cleaned pizza cutter for my kids' pizza. Chris was amazing in prepping safe pizza pies, Val our server was so kind, understanding, and friendly in her service. And Becky and Kevin in the back were great in keeping us safe too! Now the food - the Stromboli and pizza were great!! High quality cheese that was not greasy, delicious homemade pizza sauce, and thin crispy crusts on the pizza! Yummmm. Worth the 35 minute drive - it's GREAT that this restaurant does just a couple of menu items and they do them great!! The stomboli is HUGE and may be shared by 2 to 3 people! This is probably the best pizza in NE Philly, and I'm glad we came here for dinner. We took the whole family out for pizza and I'm happy the wife chose Vince's. There were alot of people here, but a server took our order fairly quick, and the pizzas came to our table in what seemed like only a few minutes. The pizza? Good stuff! Impressed with how good the crust was, and they put plenty of toppings on the pies. We also got a pitcher of soda, as the waitress told us this would be less expensive overall (how nice is that)? I came to Vince's on a whim, to bring back the childhood nostalgia of the pizza that my family would get nearly every weekend from the location that used to be up the street. The new location is nice. It's quite large, and well kept, but gets a little noisy if it gets crowded. It's a seat-yourself kind of deal as well. Bring some cash, because they don't take cards, and there's no ATM machine. The atmosphere feels kind of rushed, and not like a "we're breaking our back to serve up some killer pizza" rush, but a lack of organization. Our server came to us fairly quickly, with not much other than "what can I get you." We ordered a plain pie, and a pitcher of soda. She came back with the soda, and then wandered throughout the restaurant for the next half hour. Not a word. People came and left, and there was no sign of our pie. Our waitress blankly stumbled by us without any type of reassurance that we might get our pizza at some point in the evening. 45 minutes passed, and she finally tossed the pizza on the table, again with not much conversation. Honestly, and unfortunately, it's not as good as it used to be. Don't get me wrong, it's a tasty pizza. It's reminiscent of the old one, but it's just NOT the same. It's greasy, the cheese is chunky and artificial tasting, and the sauce tastes boxed. It's a solid piece of pizza, but I wouldn't pay a dime more for it than I did. As a religious Vince's customer since the 90's, I'm really disappointed, and cringing to write such a poor review, but if you're going back expecting the good old Northeast Philly staple, I hate to say you're going to have to look elsewhere. read more
