The space is bright, industrial, airy, and thoughtfully designed but unforced. White walls, warm wood, considered lighting, and a floor plan with real breathing room. The vibe recalls Bucktown, Wicker Park, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint: design-forward but genuinely local. There's a great bar, and booths near the kitchen with glass windows that let you watch the staff. Our three-year-old was mesmerized, and the staff was warm and playful, smiling and waving while they cooked. A small detail, but memorable. The crowd feels local. Good music, friendly people, hip but never pretentious. It's just a fun place to be with great service, too. The food is outstanding. We usually order the chicories caesar with grana padano and breadcrumbs, and the lettuce salad with shaved vegetables and creamy oregano dressing. For pizza, we love the arrabbiata (the Angry pie) and tomato pie with sausage and pickled chilies. My wife enjoys the ice cream. A note on bringing kids: I don't think this is a family restaurant, but if your kids are curious and well-behaved, it's absolutely worth bringing them earlier in the evening. We've gone around 4:30 or 5:00 on weekends and always felt comfortable. One time, our daughter had a full meltdown, and we were mortified, but the staff couldn't have been cooler. They packed everything to go, kindly and without any judgment. That kind of grace is hard to fake, and it genuinely stuck with us. Pricing is fair for the quality of the food and the experience. It has been quite a while since I've been to Beddia, but they never disappoint. We walked in without a reservation on a Tuesday night with hopes of being seated (Philly is still covered in snow, so our hopes were high) and got a nice little table in the corner right away. The hostess took our coats (a nice touch!) and then a rotation of two servers explained the specials and we ordered. I love that the menu is on the shorter side and they rotate the pizza offerings, so even if you're visiting on a regular basis, you'll always be able to try something new. Additionally, when a menu is only about 2 pages, you know everything on those two pages is top notch, as was the case at Pizzeria Beddia. This evening we got the meatballs (didn't take a photo, was too excited, but they were HUGE and excellent) and the beef, pork and veal balls with a rich red sauce was outstanding. Came in an order of 2 but one was plenty for each of us. The Pizza we got had potatoes on it, and we added sausage per the servers recommendation, and it was cooked perfectly and all of the flavors blended so well together. Don't be afraid of the hard looking alley you have to head down to get to this hidden gem. Before I tell ya about the food, let me tell you, Connor made this experience top notch and just a fun, great experience. We were seated at the bar and had a great time conversing and enjoying the great ambiance. Food is top notch and so flavorful. We went with just a plain old pepperoni pizza but it was a step above a great pepperoni pizza. Great portion size on the pizza and it will easily feed 3-4 people. Large slices and even larger pepperoni to clog your arteries. So good and so worth it! We also tried the tonewood "freshies" pale ale. Very fruit forward and fragrant bouquet finish. Liked it, but wouldn't order another. The ploughman "the birdwatcher" dry cider with peach was fantastic. Not as dry as you would think which was nice because I lean more on the sweet side selection. Finally got to try the famous Pizzeria Beddia, and it didn't disappoint. I've had the Pizza Camp cookbook for years and on our family trip to Philly, this was a must try. I am usually a pepperoni kinda gal but this time we decided to try the special - a delicious combo of broccoli, smoked paprika and grana creme, lemon preserve, royer mountain. This being said, it is more well done than we are used to, but not at all overdone, just perfect and packed with perfectly balanced flavor. I came here the other evening as I was visiting Philly for the weekend, and it was so good. I'd highly recommend making a reservation, as this place can get quite packed. The space is really pretty with lots of natural light, warm woods and earth tones. The menu is simple and straightforward with their pizzas being the star of the show. We went with the vegetable pizza and some caesar veggies. I think we both expected the veg to come warm but it is a cold salad style dish. Not my favorite but an interesting menu addition. I am shocked by how amazing everything was from the ambiance of the seating area, which was super clean and bright, to the absolutely phenomenal quality of the pizza ingredients. Big yes to Pizzeria Beddia! I was visiting and my friend (the Yelp CM of Philly, lucky me) suggested we go here for dinner before we headed to a show at The Fillmore. I definitely expected the appetizer to be warm and was surprised that it was cold, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I thought it was delicious. The pizza was DEFINITELY a shareable (we actually considered getting two and were very glad we split one between us), and it was remarkable! Pizza isn't my go-to dinner because I normally don't feel great after eating it, but I knew I was in for a treat with 100% organic flour dough and high quality toppings. Despite eating 3.5 slices of this massive pizza, plus the appetizer, I honestly felt great, which goes to show that the quality of the ingredients is SO IMPORTANT and Beddia does it RIGHT! First negative was that we walked by it twice as there is no sign in the alley where it is located. This was frustrating on a very hot day. The space is wide open and loud. We ordered a regular pie and asked for 1/2 sausage. The waitress said they could not do toppings on half a pie. Ok. "Is the sausage sliced or crumbled," we asked. "Balls" she said?! Ok. Once the pizza arrived she asked if we needed anything. We asked for a little grated Parmesan and oregano. She brought a small plate of grated Parmesan and a plastic container (like one used for salad dressing) full of oregano. I immediately thought it was a lot and a waste of both since we would not use even half of either. The pizza itself was very good but definitely should not be on any list of best in the country. There is a plethora of excellent pizza in Philly and Jersey, let alone NY! We had half a pie left and asked for a box. She returned with four slices stacked and wrapped in foil! When we inquired about a box she said they were for full pies. So, leftovers had cheese from one slice stuck to another slice. The icing on the cake was that we were charged for the grated Parmesan and oregano. Note to owner: most pizzerias keep shakers of these, and other spices, handy for use, for free! Ngl I sort of devoured the whole pie including the crust which I don't typically eat. I ordered the number 1 and number 2 pizzas - 16" inch pie with tomato, mozzarellas, sicilian oregano, olive oil, and galen's reserve AND 16" pie with calabrian cream sauce (NO tomato), mozzarellas, greens, chives, olive oil and galen's reserve. Slices were chewy and crispy at the same time as well as fresh. When I ordered online it said there was a 3 hour wait, but I popped in early and they were gracious enough to get started on my order early.
