Boutique outdoor winery. Marks the record for me for the [deliberately chosen] second longest stay I've ever had at a winery. I once hung out at "Rancho Sisquoc" in Solvang, CA for 2 hours and 10 minutes chatting up the staff and patrons. In 2nd place is "Vindemia" which we end up staying for 1 hour and 35 minutes. Mostly talking to the cool bartender dude who runs hot air balloons as his main business (he's subbing). I forgot his name already, but I recommended to him the 2009 German film "Soul Kitchen," which to me is the great sex comedy of the last 20 years. I love it more than "Love Actually," actually. We also talk about great cities, great wineries, weddings, languages, and other stuff. I love how there was mist machines and air-blowers to deal with the heat. We didn't have to stand; we had our own umbrella-table. I would have taken home the "Petit Verdot" and the "Commonwealth," but they are expensive bottles. At least taste them. If you have the money though, they might be real keepers (64, 48 dollars). read more

This trip down to Temecula was with the purpose of exploring new wineries. We have been to Temecula many times, and realized that it is easy to go to old favorites. Vindemia seemed to have some good Yelp reviews, so we gave it a try. On the plus side, the setting was beautiful. Wonderful view of the vineyards, while you were tasting. The wines (at least by my palate) were exceptional. They had 2 whites and I believe 7 or 8 reds. Their tasting fee was $20 for 5 tastes. (More on this later). The Petit Verdot, the Cabernet Sauvignon were delicious. Great body and structure. The Syrah was very good. A bit peppery. We brought a bit of roast beef with us, and tasting the wine with the roast beef, was very good. My personal favorites were the Zinfindels which were named "More Cowbell ". 2010 and 2011. We bought a bottle of the 2010. It was a nicely balanced Zinfindel. This is a small production winery (boutique), therefore the wines were a bit pricey, but very high quality, at least in my mind. The service was very good. For the negatives. I thought that the tasting fee was high. The tasting fee is not comped with a purchase. It just rubs me wrong when you make a $40,$59 or $60 purchase and the fee is not comped. If this was addressed, I would give them 5 stars. read more

I really detest having to write a bad review, but I can't give a good review unless it has been earned. That being said, I am honestly shocked at the reviews that claim the service here is "great." Perhaps my friends and I just had a random bad experience at this place. I honestly hope that's the case - because I would hate for everyone to receive the "service" we received. The Manager (dark brunette shoulder-length hair, 40s-50s) - I'm not sure what her name was, since none of the staff wears name tags - was very rude to my friends and I. Also, I am only assuming she was the Manager/Bar Manager, since she was bossing everyone around and putting her employees down in front of the customers. She was very short with us, gave us dirty looks, and seemed annoyed when we couldn't decide on a wine right away. Had she given us any advice or descriptions of the wine (there are none listed on the menu), then it would have obviously made our selection process much easier. She offered bread and olive oil to two of the girls in our party, but not the other 4. The seating was very limited, which I didn't really understand, seeing as they have a beautiful brick patio that could easily accommodate more than two tables, which is what they currently have. The only restroom is a pretty disgusting Port-a-Potty. The only reason I gave this place two stars is because (1) the wines weren't bad (not the best I've had, but not the worst either), the Royale Port was pretty good and they give you a piece of dark chocolate with it for tasting, and (2) there was ONE employee (long wavy blonde/strawberry blonde hair, 30s-40s) who gave us great service: she actually went out of her way to walk down to us from the tasting bar over to our little table on the patio, and offered us a tasting of the Sauvignon Blanc. I thought that was great customer service, especially since no one asked her to do that, and we were the only group of people sitting way down there on the patio. read more

Vindemia redeeemed itself on my 3rd visit to the winery. After receiving an e-mail from the owner, I decided to give it another shot, bravo Vindemia! From the moment we stepped onto the property to the second we vacated their charming makeshift tasting room, the staff went above and beyond to make our experience a memorable one. The menu offered a nice selection of wine (mainly red varietals) each one better than the last. The 2006 Commonwealth Bordeax was exceptional and can compete with reds produced by any of the areas commercial wineries. read more

By far our favorite winery to visit in Temecula. Totally boutique, with a wine maker and staff who are kind and interested in the customers. My fiancé and I got engaged there closing in on 8 months ago, and when we returned this past weekend (assuming that no one would remember us - just another couple) they all welcomed us like we were practically celebrities. And this isn't even to mention the wine: rich, complex, flavorful...and that goes for every wine on their list! Vindemia uses key elements of an amazing winery experience - knowledgeable, super friendly employees and quality product (unlike lots of the other huge, corporate style, gimmick heavy cash cows in Temecula). A nice little winery atop the hill with very nice views of the wine valley at sunset. It was getting chilly up there in the late afternoon and took them quite some effort to light up the heat lamps. I really wish they could turn on the lights hanging around the outdoor seating area on the lower level, it would have made a really pretty environment, but apparently they didn't want them on "so it doesn't look like we're still open." But what about the experience of the customers already sitting there? Had a large selection of wines, most of them were ok but nothing impressive. I spent a few days in Temecula as a break from visiting family in San Diego. The wine region in southern CA is definitely under rated. I enjoyed all the wineries I visited but Vindemia is by far the best! Taylor was our sommelier for our tasting. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the wine, winery and area. We felt welcome, relaxed and totally enjoyed the beautiful scenery while sipping our wine. I would say that any of their wines could go head to head with any of the Napa varieties. I ended up shipping 6 bottles home. Katie personally came down to meet us and ensure that all the shipping info was correct. I promptly received email confirmation and shipping info. Wine was delivered within 4 days. Bottles were well packaged and secured. I was surprised to see a hand written note from Taylor thanking us for our purchase. It is a nice place. First time I've done an outdoor tastings. Barns don't count. This was a patio with the wine bar and it was fine. Little misters kept us cool. The GF and I were referred here by a couple who we met at Longshadow. Since we all about the Temecula Experience, he had to hit it. It's right up the road from Longshadow so there wasn't much driving. You pull into a dirt parking lot and walk up some stairs. Not many, so don't think it's a hike. We were greeted in a courteous fashion and the pours started. We tasted the Viognier 2006 - Very nice! and for $16.00, it was a steal. Got it. Viognier is fast becoming my go to wine for hot days. Grenache 2008 - Wish this one could have been a little better. This is one of my favorite varietals and needed more work. Seemed a over acidic. Syrah 2005 - Another steal. For $12.00 you couldn't go wrong and it was made to my liking. There didn't seem much difference between the two Zins. Other then the 07 was $24.00 and the 08 was $40.00, I could find any distinction between the two. Petit Verdot was good, not for $64.00, but good. There was also a blend called "Cowbell", That one was real tasty also. It was a good tasting with good wine. Do I think they were the best? Not by a long shot, but they are on the right path. I just visited this vineyard with my sister in laws and we had a great time. They have an outdoor wine tasting set up with patio furniture and lights for night time. We spent about 2 hours here having our wine, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views. The two women working there were very friendly and chose delicious wines for my non wine drinking sisters. Disappointing... Disappointed that it is $20 for 5 tastings! No A.C., just two flimsy fans that have supposed misters which were broken and again seating is all outside in the beating sun and bathrooms are porta-pottys. The tasting area is very small, like fruit stands on the side of a road, and again, the tastings were $20?! I thought the server said the tasting were $10 and since I had never been here before, I thought I'd try all nine of their wines so said I would like to do "two" tastings to try them all... well 9 tastings later and $40 tab - I was taken aback by this! They have no signs that say what the price of their tastings are nor is it posted on their menus, hmm convenient I would say. I did notice that their bottles were on the pricier side averaging $60 a bottle and up ... wow! I'd say the wines were just okay, I only liked 4 out of the 9 so for $40 - I will not be back. Located outdoors, it is the only winery that does its tasting outdoors. That being said, it was refreshing to be outside. Since some of this review would be based on the wine, which I didn't like, I will address the other factors. The bartenders were average and so was the portion they served. There are many more wineries in the area that I would frequent before going to this one. If you prefer reds and enjoy the outdoors where the bartender will give you a glass and allow you to walk around without much interaction, I would recommend this to you. read more

Do NOT waste your time or $38 for this crappy wine tasting! The wine is so expensive and NOT 1 was good. While we all have different pallets for wine everyone knows when they are tasting a bad wine! The lady that poured the wine insisted these are the best wines in the valley, but not so - perhaps just a step up from boxed wine! We tried to have the conversation about why she thinks the wine is the best and she was less than knowledgeable about any of it. Just a sales person probably on commission. All the wine tasted like alcohol without any flavors at all! If you show up at this winery already drunk you may not notice how crappy the wine is since it is sure to continue your buzz. I'm so glad I checked out this "off the beaten path" Temecula winery. I had the impression that all wineries in this area were packed, loud, impersonal and filled with big tours and bachelorette parties. One thing that makes Vindemia so great is that they don't even allow buses or limos. This means it stays much quieter and more tranquil. The tasting area is all outdoors and is beautiful on a nice day. I would imagine it gets pretty rough during the hot summer days though. The wines are great. Genuinely some of the best in Temecula. I especially loved the Petit Verdot and the Cab. The specialize in reds so this may not be your place if you only like whites. I happen to love the focus on reds! Since it is a bit of the path, it was a little tough for our Uber driver to find. You may be best navigating it on your own with a DD. Definitely worth checking out! read more

While I didnt personally like the majority of their wines, I did find a couple that were pretty tasty. I also really like the ambiance here and there is a great view. The feel here is more like youre in someones backyard for a dinner party as opposed to the big indoor tasting rooms. They do have misters for the hot days. Customer service was great. We were told about the history of the winery, some fun facts, and he always kept our bread basket and glass of water full. The cost here is $15 for 5 tastes, but I think we got an extra one thrown in. They are located past Long Shadow, and when the paved road ends, turn left. We didnt have any trouble finding the place. We definitely enjoyed our time here and we will be back to see what new stuff they have going on. read more

Of the four Temecula wineries we visited, this was the best. So, either I picked the wrong wineries or this area hasn't found the right grapes with the right vine maturity handled by the right winemakers. With evolving climates, you don't know what might be a good wine region, but from what I tried now and in the past at restaurants, Temecula wines were a "learning experience". Typical of the area, Vindemia charged a high $20 tasting fee. The fee covered five wines and was not waived with bottle purchase. Like wineries not in Temecula, upfront payment was not required. Refreshingly, buses or limos were not allowed. We normally buy bottles when wine tasting except when the wine isn't worth having again or the wine is too expensive relative to other fine wines. At the other three wineries, nothing was worth having again. At Vindemia, I would have liked to have the petit verdot again, but not at $54 (a mid-priced wine here - particularly compared to the $78 grenache). Even though I am a cheap SOB, please note that my Yelp ratings do not factor cost because what is expensive varies per person or even the same person (like I wouldn't buy a $40 bottle of wine when I was young, but would now buy a $90 bottle.) Without a signature grape, Temecula has an identity crisis. The only pattern was mixing Bordeaux reds like cabernet sauvignon with Rhone reds like syrah. Vindemia bottles this blend as "Loneliness" which had weight, but not structure. Similar blends at other Temecula wineries were also unsuccessful to my palate. The winery is accessed by a dirt road with dirt parking lot. The outdoor tasting area was like a huge backyard patio. Adding to the relaxing atmosphere were smokers for BBQ, young olive trees, and rose bushes. read more

I am so sad to update this review but our experience went so downhill after joining the wine club. I'll start by saying that I am a member of wine clubs in Napa, Long Island, some other small local and tons in Temecula so I am not a novice with this. The first shipment was shockingly expensive for 2 Pinot noirs and 1 red blend (like 3X any other Temecula club). I emailed the wine club manager to ask about customizing our shipment, something almost every other club offers, because I don't love Burgundian grapes and was bummed to be paying close to $400 for some mediocre Pinot Noir. The manager agreed to do so and sub the PNs for some Grenache Blanc I'd actually drink. I travel a lot, it took us a few months to pick up the shipment, when my husband did the gave him the Pinots not the whites. I emailed the manager, who is no longer with the winery, so I received a response back from her replacement that she wasn't aware of our "deal" and the wines they gave us couldn't be returned so I was SOL. Another Temecula winery made a mistake on our customization (that they offer standard) recently and they happily told us to keep the mistake wines and come pick up the new ones. Luckily I'd already been permitted to cancel our overpriced membership so I won't have any more shipments to contend with, but I am now stuck with some seriously overpriced garbage. read more

We stumbled on Vindemia on our visit to Southern California from the East Coast. My husband was looking for a small winery in Temecula where we could enjoy a casual tasting. This was a very charming winery with a great story for their start. While the property itself has a rustic feel, which I love, the wine was surprisingly delicious. There were a couple of award winners in the tasting, but even the non award winners were yummy. Mind you, my palate is not sophisticated, but I have had wines in the past that I don't like, so....I am happy to say, I liked all the wines I tasted. While enjoying the tasting, Lou, the gentleman pouring our wine, educated us on how we could enjoy the same wines we were tasting in this amazing environment, right at home. A neutral setting is key. Avoiding heavy perfumes/colognes, scented candles, etc. I especially enjoyed learning about the owners interesting way of naming his wines. When you go for a visit, ask them how he came up with the name for his Zinfandel, More Cowbell. And if you are already chuckling, then you probably already know the answer. In the end, my husband and I had so much fun for this casual visit that we joined their wine club. Yay! Can't wait for the first shipment! read more

My sister introduced my husband and I to Vindemia a year ago. Although we have visited a few wineries, nothing has been as charming and cozy as Vindemia. Last Saturday we stopped by and had the pleasure of meeting Lou, who was an absolute joy! We tasted a wide variety of wines and not a single bad wine I must add! Visiting Vindemia Estates is like spending the afternoon in your best friend's beautiful backyard. The tinsel hanging from the vines shimmers and adds to the experience. I expect this place would be really pretty at night with the lights strung over the patio lit up. We sat at one of the patio tables and even though it was incredibly hot, we were able to get some relief from the misters. All the tasting is done outside, so if you can't stand the heat, you might want to try somewhere else. Tastings are $15 for 5 wines that you get to pick from a list. I wasn't particularly wowed by any of the wines. However, there is free bread and olive oil with tastings, so that's pretty cool. Dogs are allowed at the winery, so make sure to bring your pups! Vindemia is open Friday - Monday to those traveling by car, but not by limo or bus. Additionally, the bathrooms onsite are porta potties - and not the fancy kind - so just keep that in mind when you visit this place. read more

Vindemia is a lovely location and we were excited to go wine tasting as the Temecula area reopened. Vindemia decided to celebrate the reopening by increasing their tasting fees to $30 - the most expensive tasting fee - and decrease the number of wines you taste from 5 to 4. Nothing says "welcome" like charging you more money for less wine. I recommend going to a different winery. Vindemia is one to skip. read more

If you are going from winery to winery in Temecula, it is well worth the short trip out to Vindemia. The setting is lovely, and is a welcome break from the crowded and hurried tasting rooms along the main strip. We were there in the afternoon on a pleasant long weekend, when the whole area was teeming with wine tourists. Even so, Vindemia was laid-back and pleasant. We had yelped Vendemia as our last stop in Temecula for wine tasting one Sunday afternoon and it was so very different. Outdoor patios and the first place we could actually sit to taste instead of stand at the bar. We were served fresh bread and olive oil with the most stunning view. However, every winery I've ever been to will comp your wine tasting if you buy a bottle of wine. I bought two bottles of wine at full price for $160 and they still charged me for my one $20 tasting. However, this winery is not handicap accessible (to the point of being dangerous for a wheelchair user in our party), despite there being an "accessible" logo on their sign. I am puzzled as to why the high ratings on this winery. It is at the end of a road on a gravel parking lot. There is no tasting room-!it is all outside!!! The restrooms are port a potties in the parking lot next to the trash bins. The tastings are $20 for 5 pours of mediocre wine. On the plus side, the service is friendly, the outdoor furniture is comfortable, they have a barbecue with picnic tables for your use, they serve bread with olive oil and the music is good. Update: I just got off the phone with one of the owners Gayle I believe and she was pretty helpful. I explained to her about my card and she was able to look into it and explain what happened. I appreciated she did that. She also asked about my experience and was very nice to hear me out as I explained what happened. Anyway, because of how awesome the wine was I will go back again and give them a chance. I guess to have the amazing blonde gal who had originally helped us back when we went in December, set the bar for us high. Who knows what happened yesterday but who cares, my friend and I still enjoyed the wine flavor. And no the owner didn't tell me to update my review, I'm doing it because I guess I can't let one bad experience ruin the fact that their wine still taste pretty delicious and the place is really unique. I had gone here before and the service was good but unfortunately today I went and the service was horrible. During my first visit they claimed "oh we care about the experience of our customers and we aren't like other wineries that ask for your money first blah blah blah". Anyway, today my friend and I ordered and my card was swipped first. It's okay I went ahead and gave a tip and tried to enjoy the wine. Well, every pour seemed like a hastle (I'm sure pouring wine isn't very hard to do). Next thing you know I checked my bank account and I was charged twice for 2 tasters. First for a $46 transactions for 2 tasters plus tip- which I approved but I'm now regretting even tipping and another transaction again of $40 for who knows what (double charge I'm guessing). I guess I will be calling my bank and the winery tomorrow, what a hasttle. I visited today for the first time and I fell in love with this cute, quiet, and peaceful winery. It is up on a hill with the most amazing view. It has cute little picnic tables, perfect for bringing your own little picnic. It's the best place to go if you want a change in scenery from the busier more known wineries. The service and staff were extremely friendly and the wine was delicious! "Loneliness" was probably my favorite wine that we tasted there but they were all good.
