I've had 2 visits. Both times, the restaurant was completely empty which raises questions in my mind. The first time was a good experience - came with a large group. Food was good and met expectations of the price point. This led to our second visit again with a large group. This time it was really bad. 1. Food was not good - chicken was overcooked which makes us question if it was fresh. Dosa were soggy which should never be the case. 2. Kitchen worker was in bathroom stall stinking up bathroom and watching TV on his phone. That smell was so bad it almost made me gag. 3. The server has stuff on his mustache which I don't want to ask or know, but if he's unkempt, again it questions the food being served even further. 3. After all the above, being in a dim lit dining experience only brings further concerns. I ordered online and picked up lunch from this restaurant. The mixed vegetable pakora and lamb masala were both delicious. While the pakora didn't travel particularly well--something I don't fault the restaurant for--the accompanying sauce was flavorful and had a nice kick. I ordered the lamb masala spicy, which may have been a bit too intense for me, so next time, I'll stick with the standard spice level. Overall, a great meal! read more

Had a great experience at Vindu and will definitely be going back. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very attentive. I could see that the waiters constantly going around and checking on the tables. There was also a larger party that had some kids running around which the restaurant accommodated to very nicely. I would say it's a great place for large parties and kids. The food is very flavorful and everything was cooked perfectly. What isn't shown is the grilled meat plate with tandoori chicken and seekh kabob, which both tasted great and had lots of flavor. The dosa has very moist chicken which paired nicely with the crispy dosa. The sambar was my favorite, it's packed with vegetables and has a very nice savory taste. I recommend it when it's cold out. Tried Vindu Indian Cuisine for the first time this evening. I had the chicken tikki masala with a side of naan. It was soooo good. Tender, delicious chicken - large chucks and lots of them; a generous portion size; and the lightest, fluffiest rice I've had in a long time. The service was prompt and friendly. My regular takeout spot for Indian food closed down and I've been searching for a new one. I've been eating Indian food in Dallas for like 30 years and consider myself a bit of an Indian snob. So when I call this my new favorite I do not say it lightly. I knew it was legit as soon as the pappadam and chutneys came out. The mint was unusually fresh tasting and just very refreshing. The tamarind was pretty good also. The menu is fairly eclectic with different regional dishes including more of the southern dishes that you'd have found at places like Madras Pavillion, may it rest in peace. I had the lamb fry which was just perfect. I ordered very spicy and they did not disappoint. It was perfectly lamby without being too heavy. The rice was excellent and fluffy. The naan was crisp and perfect. The owner, Reddy, has been doing this 30 years, previously of Pasand in Richardson. Obviously he has honed his craft very well! Everything here just tastes the way it should! My family and I typically like to order the chicken tikka masala and lamb saagwala with naan. We also like to sometimes order the mixed vegetable pakora for an appetizer and the gulab jamun for dessert. We were given the corner booth , there was a big puddle of water on the table, we had to flag down the waitstaff to clean it. Happy fourth of July my mouth has sweet firecrackers going off!! this is my second time here for dinner and third total. I absolutely love the Thali Dinner..Wouldn't order the dinner entree any other way..it's like a tour of India for your palate. Yummy! The second time I went to Vindu was for lunch buffet...totally veg friendly and satisfying for us meat eaters. They have them nicely segregated. :) My only suggestions? I hope the owner reads these---y'all have a nice patio--would love some tables, chairs, umbrellas and lights! The walls could use some pics--not sure why not any? Cultural? Educate me. Also there's a lovely corner where wine, beer and maybe liquor could be served ...i can see the wait list hanging there now. Authentic Northern and Southern Indian Cuisine. This is my favorite spot for Indian food! It is located right off Frankford Road and the Dallas North Tollway in the large shopping center with Albertsons. We have been here multiple times and every time we come here the food and service are just as good as the previous. The staff at this location treat their patrons as if they are family. You are promptly greeted, and shown to your table. They bring you water right away and are quick to bring out your beverages. The menu has a various amount of options from Northern to Southern Indian cuisines as well as vegetarian options. They are happy to accommodate spice levels for you on the entrees as well. They bring out Papadum with Tamarind chutney and Mint Cilantro chutney as a complimentary starter. The Tamarind chutney at this place is my favorite. We then decide to order the Vegetable Samosa as an appetizer. The Vegetable Samosa comes out after 5 minutes and it was smoking hot. The taste was delicious and you can tell they freshly prepared it. We decided to order the Lamb Curry and Dal Makhani Thali Dinner entrees. You have the option of also doing a la carte entree but the Thali dinner is worth it. They bring out both entrees in this large dish with rice and on the side a lentil soup, a tomato soup, a potato soup, raita, and a small dessert. They also bring you out a generous amount of complimentary naan. You definitely do not leave hungry with the Thali dinner. The flavors were delicious as always, the spices are perfect for me considering I don't always like spicy foods. The staff here makes sure you are always taken care of. The owner even walks up to check on you. This is hands down my go to spot for Indian cuisine. The entrees are loaded with flavors and the service is excellent. If I could give an actual rating, this would be 0/5 stars but Yelp forces me to give at least 1 star. I had hired Vindu to do catering for one of the days of my wedding weekend. When I contacted the restaurant, I spoke with the owner (Pakeera Guduru) and went to Vindu's for a tasting after telling him what I was envisioning for that day. We finalized the menu at the tasting and was told a price per person to which we agreed. We were also charged an additional fee for 4 staff from Vindu to come and prepare some of the food onsite. We paid the advance and then we were told to come a couple of days before the event to finalize our guest count and pay the remaining amount. Aside from the menu, we discussed the layout that we had in mind as well as the general timings for the event. Mr Guduru kept reassuring me that he's been in the industry for many years and has a lot of experience catering for events larger than ours. Two weeks before the event, I called Mr Guduru asking him to provide his insurance documents along with a liability waiver that the venue required to which he said that he would email me the completed documents. I also told him that we had finalized with the venue regarding the layout of the food stations and had come up with the finalized timeline for that day to which he asked me to email him the details. Four days before my event, I went to the restaurant and paid the balance that was due and when I brought up the layout and timeline in my conversation with Mr Guduru, it was clear that he hadn't looked at my email but he assured me that he would handle it and that the service would start at 6pm promptly and that his staff would arrive at the venue by 5pm to setup. On the day of the event, the Vindu staff only showed up at 6pm and started service at 7pm. We had agreed on the appetizer station being active from 6pm-8pm but they only began at 7pm. It was extremely frustrating for all of our guests that was waiting for 1 hour without any food. On top of that, during dinner, one of the food items that was supposed to be made at the venue was dosas to which Mr Guduru had told me that he would be bringing two large dosa griddles that would make 6 dosas per griddle (12 dosas at a time). With the size of our crowd, he said that we would only need two griddles. His staff showed up with griddles that were only large enough to make 3 dosas per griddle causing extremely long lines. If he had told me that the griddles would only be large enough to make 3 at a time, I would have requested him to bring additional staff so we could have more stations and paid accordingly. If that wasn't enough, one of the two cooks who was manning one of the dosa stations was producing dosas that were so thick- it was evident that he hadn't made dosas before. As a result, guests were avoiding this one dosa station, resulting in even longer lines. His staff also walked off with trays of food at the end of the event which goes against what he promised us. We were told that we would be given any leftover food so that we could distribute it as we saw fit. The quality of the food from Vindu can be rated as fine with the exception of the gulab jamun which was so tough and dry. However, the service and complete disregard for everything that was promised and what we were charged for borders on shameless thievery. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. There are far better catering options within the DFW metroplex to choose from that provide South Indian food. We were actually considering to use Vindu for our main wedding day but decided to go with another Indian caterer and I am so glad that we did. The service and overall experience that we had was like the comparison of day vs night with what we received from Vindu. read more

Serves me right for going out of the way to try something new. 9/10 times they backfire. I ordered ginger chicken curry thru Uber eats for lunch today. The chicken was coated in red food coloring, and was pretty grey in color inside. That's what happens when the chicken is not fresh, days old, and they are pretty much repurposing what they have. It's below standards and can prove to be bad for health. Was the curry okay? No, just red colored sauce with some ginger mince thrown in, didn't taste fresh either. I would say they are in food coloring business rather than anything else. Not sure food is safe to consume, you are warned. read more

Went to Vindu with friends from New Dehli. They told us the the food served at Vindu is from the south of India. Unfortunately, I have a very low tolerance for hot, spicy foods, so when I ordered and they asked about the heal level, I said minus 1. The food was excellent, I even tried my wife's Mahi Mahi, which was excellent- but the side dishes served are extremely spicy for my American pallet. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars was service was OK, but truly not what I expected and the men's room was needing cleaning and maintenance. The menu has a great variety of dishes from the north to the South of India, numerous vegetarian options plus they also offer IndoChina dishes. We love how authentic the food is which mean it might be a little spicy but the flavors are so complex that it keeps lingering on your taste buds way after you are done eating. I tried this place for a lunch buffet around 10/28/19. I would like to recommend it. I felt i got my money's worth. There was enough seating, i like how there were plates in between the buffet line so that i dont have to wait from the beginning. I like how all their plates and cups match, unlike some others. The place was clean, they pick up your plate once ur done, and get a new plate for the next round. I tried onion pokara less salt and flavor to my taste but could vary from place to place. I tried garilu/vada im used the more fluffy, round ones, I felt this be some what traditional and was more grainy than im used to. I love the vada and goat/chicken curry combination. I thought naan was basic, warm and good nothing about it sticks out, but love the combination with chicken tikka masala. I tried plain rice and daal/lentils, I did enjoy this traditional dish, i felt it had the usual flavors, wasnt spicy. I felt its a safe bet for anyone, you will enjoy it, I gauuuuuranteee Chicken biriyani was good, not as greasy, mild flavor, not too much overwhelming masala, chicken was abundant and flavorful. I tried goat curry, thought it was alright as I felt it could have used more spices, salt. The meat was cooked well, tender, meaty, juicy. Then I moved onto, my favorite part DESSERT! Gulab jamun was sweet, warm and soft, plenty left over. I like it. I was not a big fan of the ras malai, i did have better. I felt the pieces were hard and could have been more softer, the syrup broth was what I felt condensed milk. Had no flavors at all. Overall I will recommend it.
