I wanted to give this place a try. It's very near to our house but usually we make a drive to Mumbai Grill off of Preston. I ordered over the phone for pick up, and the gentleman told me my food will be ready within 15 minutes. He didn't take my name. The items ordered: Palak paneer, butter chicken, (main dishes come with rice). Upon pick up, I noticed the space was pretty tiny and seemed like there is like only one guy working there. He didn't even ask me for my name when I ordered so I'm assuming that's because he probably doesn't get a lot of orders for this combination of entrees? Arriving back home, we're excited and start opening all the packages. My mouth is watering because I have been craving Indian food and my mom can no longer cook. I even skipped lunch knowing that I was gonna go HAM. As soon as I open the containers, I noticed that the palak paneer looked different, resembling a bit of spinach mixed with dahl. The butter chicken was really runny and chicken was red, like it was left over tandoori chicken. A bite in either dish resulted in a sugary sweet taste and disgusting feeling. It was like someone poured in a lot of sugar into the dish for whatever reason. You know when you drink sweet tea but it's way too sweet? It was kind of like that. I don't know any Indian curry to have sugar in it. it was horrible. We couldn't eat any of it. The naan was not even fresh. It was either previously frozen or ready made. It was not hot or soft. The only thing that was edible was the rice. They should be ashamed for even serving this as Indian food or calling themselves and Indian restaurant. I don't know what they were thinking. The couple times we went in, the service was great and people were friendly. The food is really tasty... the naan bread is soft with a little crisp on the outside... my kids love the masala and butter chicken. I ordered delivery directly off of their website. Keep in mind I've ordered from them before but never off of the website. In the past I've had pleasant experiences, apart from being charged $2 for an extra egg for the biryani. The food is delicious. This time having ordered directly off the website and ordering delivery, door dash was selected to deliver the order (by the restaurant) I had issues with the delivery, the driver didn't speak English, I don't speak Spanish, so despite providing clear and concise directions they weren't able to find my apartment. I called the restaurant and they offered to deliver the order themselves. I was upset because I had just spoke to Door Dash and they made me feel like I was the problem because I didn't speak Spanish. The gentleman that answered the phone at the restaurant did not speak to me condescendingly and provided a solution that worked for both of us. In which I'm EXTREMELY appreciative because I was HANGRY! The door dash driver after 25-30 minutes, driving away and coming back to my complex, marked the delivery as delivered by HANDING TO ME! Which was outright a lie!!!!! Even though this has nothing to do with the restaurant beyond the fact they chose to partner with them for delivery..... I think a big company like Door Dash that offers their app in Spanish should also translate text communications between the customer and dasher. Anyway.... Thank you A1 for providing A+ customer service!!!!! I've been ordering from this restaurant for quiet some time now but never had any problems with my food. I ordered chicken biryani and the raita spilled all over the bag but this isn't the main problem. I was eating my food, I think I had eaten 1/4th of the food and then I saw a cockroach on my food. When i tried to contact the restaurant they kept me on hold for sometime saying they'll talk to the manager and then came back on the phone saying that they can't help me with anything. Ended up seeing that it does not look like the usual Palak Paneer that is very green. Not sure if the cook in the kitchen gave me a different dish??? Because I have not seen it look like this before. Delicious, Affordable Food. Bring Cash. Nice owner. I always visit A1 whenever I'm in town. I've only tried the chicken biryani, and it's an amazing value for the price. Not only is it very affordable (especially with the alternating lunch specials), but it is also more delicious with better portions size than some other expensive Indian restaurants. I most recently ordered 3 chicken dum biryanis with bone for a new/limited-time(?) lunch special all for myself (lol..). I ate one of them immediately, and the other two still tasted great when I finished them up a couple days later. I call ahead and pick up my food, but there are a couple of tables for dine-in. The employee said they're starting buffets on Friday and will expand the dishes as the buffet gains more popularity. I plan to try and visit the buffet too. I saw a review mention that the owner is rude, and that hasn't been my experience. There is a slight language barrier, so the owner might sound like they're speaking curtly, but they still try their best to explain and answer questions. The owner does prefer cash, so I bring cash.
