A Cabramatta institution - this is their 3rd location. Each move has been bigger and better than the last. I don't think they'll have to move again for a long time. This place is huge! Vinh Phat is known for their dim sum and also Cantonese style dinner dishes. Yumcha is a weekend tradition for many and they are always busy. Expect to queue if you turn up after 11am! Dinner has always been of good quality. They do live seafood very well and their crab dishes are very well executed. The other signature dishes are the special spring rolls and roaat duck with taro and deep fried. If i had one complaint, it would be the prices. I've been here in Australia for over 5 years. We have family here in Sydney so this where we go every time we visit Cabramatta. Exactly 1 year ago I gave them a 5 star review on Yelp. Today the staff is extremely RUDE. They seem to be not happy working here. I had to ask 3 different staff for chili oil because the first 2 staff lied about how this Asian style restaurant doesn't have chili oil. As an American we eat dim sum with chili oil mixed on soy sauce. Only 1 lady out of all of the ladies pushing the yum cha carts were happy to be here. I notified the manager about the situation going on here on her watch and she seemed to be rude as well. The manager defended her staff as if it was my fault for complaining. We're a regular here and my family enjoy having dinner here especially my grandmum. Today we order a singaporean chili crab and come out stink. We let him know and he accused us of nearly finish the crab than make complaint for asking discount. Not much left because of the waiter divided to the small plate. We ask to pay the crab in full. Very disappointed. Update! At the end their decide to give us half price for the crab that we hardly eat. read more

I can never quite catch on to the pricing at yum cha, but safe to say Vinh Phat has great prices! Wouldn't say it's the best yum cha out there, but was still tasty and enjoyable. I can imagine this place being completely full and buzzing on the weekends, considering it was a weekday and still a decent amount of people. Many, many seafood choices with pretty much every dumpling having prawn. The best had to be the prawn and chives, so much so we ordered another serving. Wouldn't say that great of a variety, and it was pretty much the same carts being pushed around. Staff were actually kinda nice, surprisingly as I have never come across this at yumcha. By nice I don't mean above and beyond, more like they don't get annoyed at you and some actually notice little things like empty tea. However, when it came to getting some veggies, it was quite the task! Never came around so we decided to order some, but not without a couple of failed attempts. This is a great dim sum/yum cha restaurant in the Cabramatta chinatown. They wheel bite-size portions of dumplings and fried snacks around on carts, you choose the ones you want, and then they charge you by the plate. Items come in small, medium, or large prices - but this is not necessarily related to the physical size of the food. If you are new to dim sum you will probably want to start with the shrimp siu mai, or maybe the shrimp and scallop dumpling. I also like the deep-fried tarot root stuffed with... actually, I'm not sure exactly what it's stuffed with but it's delicious. Many items are variations on a theme: rice dumplings stuffed with meat or shrimp or deep-fried dumplings with minced pork on the inside. Make sure to drink tea with your meal, since after all, that's what the literal meaning of "yum cha" is. read more

Yum cha yum cha yum cha. Upstairs on Hughes St with a line around the corner on a sunny weekend but don't be discouraged. The line moves fast as the place accommodates many. You're about 30 minutes away if you're on the corner. Once you get inside on the stairs the front of house usually ask how big your party is and seat accordingly. The yum cha selection is good and the prices are reasonable. They ask that you pay at the table and they do have Eftpos so don't fret if you don't have cash In Cabramatta. Try everything. They offer some dishes you won't find eslewhere. The egg tarts are okay but I go into the shopping plaza on Arthur St about 50m away and get mine there for about 1.25 each. read more

I'm a yum cha fan so I've been to every yum cha around Sydney, but by far Vinh Phat is the yummiest Yum Cha you could possibly try. In 8 years I still haven't come close to another place as near as nice as this. Only thing is on weekends the queue is out the door read more

I was weary about the service reviews before arriving. Boy were they accurate. Food was okay though. Entire dining experience was ruined when I asked for 'cold water'. The lady brought a jug of coke and I kindly informed here that it wasn't what we had asked for. She immediately became angry and frustrated, shaking her head and proceeded to mumble: 'Next time you come here, ask for tap water'. I informed her that tap water wouldn't have been ice cold and that terminology, tap water, cold water, still water all implies water - and that in no restaurant would 'cold water' really be considered as 'coke water'. She responded by saying 'well most of the waitresses and waiters here are vietnamese. I immediately saw how childish and immature this lady was, mind you in her 50s so I just stopped responding to her. My thoughts: sure, a restaurant may have non english speaking staff, that is entirely up to them who they hire. If you screw up a customer's order, just kindly rectify that and move on. Don't make comments about how a customer should refer to table water as 'cold water. She continued to stare at our table for another 15 minutes and muttered to her colleagues (potentially) foul words while we were eating and even as we had left. read more

Normally when restaurants upgrade from a smaller venue to a bigger one the food tend to downgrade after that. But not this joint. For years I've been to the original red chair covers tiny little restaurant that you have to wait in line for ever staring at people eat wishing they would leave soon so my stomach would get a feed. Now they've moved across the road to a much better open space venue. The food and presentation is much better than the old place. And their specialty of seafood spring rolls is to die for! We had three plates for three people on Saturday. It was delicious. Price is pretty good too. This is by far my favourite yumcha place in Sydney. read more

The food here is great and consistent however the review score reflects the level of service. On numerous occasions we have received sub standard attention and care. Food is never served at once - we have had to turn back the last dish or doggy bag it in full. Waiters generally have an attitude problem, can't seem to admit fault and apologise for their mistakes. Investing more training for staff would be beneficial and lessons in manners wouldn't go astray. read more
