Shopped here today to buy Ginger. They sell it in bundle per pound. I browse the produce area to see if there was other items I need. Got some green onions. I also bought a package of mung beans noodles. I wanted to buy more but I was in a hurry to leave. You can shop all your groceries here if you want. They got everything. The smell ain't too bad when I got here. There's no bad fishy smells. If i had all the time in the world, I would buy Chinese sausage, Chinese cooking wine and some seafoods. Updating review. Like the many varieties they have here, but be careful with the expiration date. If you're not one who cares, then it's fine. Picked up a few items and noticed their best by date has already passed but the store is still selling it. I hope they're looking through their stuff and removing what has gone bad already instead of trying to profit off of everything. As a customer, I expect that everything out on the shelf is still good and has not expired. It's an inconvenience when we are in a rush and still have to make sure what we are getting isn't expired. read more

This is the Viet alternative to 99-Ranch Market place for the Chinese. They have a wide verity of everything a Market should have. I like their fresh whole Chicken and Ducks where I was going to SF to get freshness. Now it's only a 15 minute drive. Try parking in the back because it's easier to get in and out. It's a typical Asian market so don't expect it to be super clean and don't smell. There are cashiers at the Front and Back of store so only pay on the side you parked, they will stop you and makes you walk around outside. read more

I came here on a family friends recommendation. Their live crab is a couple dollars per pound cheaper than other Asian markets and their crabs seem a lot livelier! Periwinkle is another plus. We have been going here for years and this is where my mother gets a lot of meat and veggies. They have some prepared foods and baked goods, get in early to get the best selection. They have fried pork belly but it is seasoned with five spice which I'm not too fond of. We go here at least once a week and depending on the season you can find great hard to find fruits for a more reasonable price. You can always call if you're looking for something specific or exotic. They have parking in the front or back. It's mainly Vietnamese but they have some Filipino items. I always recommend this for people who are looking for asian products. Actually like this place, but they have a few worker that are racist as hell if you aren't their kind. they treat you like crap. I simply asked one of the workers for tartar sauce. He looked me in my eye, waved his hand like i was fly and said I don't speak English in perfect English and turned his back on me. I asked the cashier. She asked another person. I said I'm just looking for tartar sauce. He turns around to look than I said if you don't have any, it's fine he turns around and said yeah we don't sell tartar sauce here. Thank you Quynh T., your review inspired us to check it out :) We were fortunate to find parking at the front and while there was a line for all cashiers at one end of the store, it was completely clear at the other entrance/exit. They had the entire front section dedicated to Lunar New Year gifts :) The aisles were wide enough to accommodate customers keeping a reasonable space between each other. This market is pretty big, you can find almost everything you need LOL Based on previous reviews, it appears that things have gotten better. We did not experience the negative things other reviewers posted about. We had a relatively standard Asian market experience. This is my typical go to Asian store in South Sacramento. They usually have a pretty good selection of produce and items that I need to stock up my kitchen. They only bad thing I would say is that they get really busy and when they are, it's especially hard to get attention from the butchers so we can choose from the meat selection. Overall, they have a side that has fresh fish where they even clean or deep fryer for you. read more

I've been coming to Vinh Phat for years. I don't live in Sacramento but I have family out there so when I'm in town -- Vinh Phat is the spot! I'm writing this during the COVID-19 era. I was in town over the weekend (March 14, 2020) and wanted to stock up on a few items. Like every supermarket in the nation right now, the store was crowded with lines and lines of people. This store offers a nice selection of everything you would typically find in an Asian Supermarket. There's even a hot food BBQ station that offers Roasted Duck, Roasted Pig, Vietnamese Sandwiches, etc. There are two entrances to the store and whichever end you pay at is the door you have to use to exit. Mid-sized Vietnamese neighborhood market. I think this place is mainly known for the fresh meat; only a couple things in the meat department are pre-packaged and this section of the grocery store seemed popular among customers. It's not a large meat department (a bit lacking especially in terms of the variety of beef cuts), but if you're looking for a particular animal organ, this place most likely has it. .....And that's pretty much the only good thing I have to say about this place. The fresh seafood area is abysmal; not much seafood in the cases and the floor is drenched with who knows what (don't wear your good shoes here). The produce area isn't that appealing as well as half of the stuff is in plastic wrap and some of the fruits look bruised. Many boxes of overstock are carelessly scattered in the aisles of dried goods, which made cart maneuvering a bit difficult in some spots. Eh, go here only if you need Asian groceries in a pinch and you happen to be in the area.....otherwise you're better off just going to 99 Ranch that's 10 minutes away from this place. read more

We just visited this market over the weekend! We found some good stuff. Instant ready sticky rice, mochi desserts, lots of soups, and seasonings.... and pleasantly, there was a bunch of stuff in the frozen food aisles marked clearly with vegetarian. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have MORE produce. That's what I went there searching for, but despite that, we found some other goodies that made the trip worth it. read more

Parking is tight and sketchy at times, feels like someone can and will ding your car and dash. Been going here for decades since I was a little child and honestly never liked any of the rude asS cashiers. I'm bilingual but since I only spoke English to them, they think I don't speak nor understood what they were saying. They will talk bad about you especially the women in front of you. There's no good service here at all and will stare you down once you walk in the door because they are so observant on everyone that walks in. Groceries are ok and prices are decent for veggies and misc. stuff. Viet coffee can is expensive af. Never have taro when i look for it. Roast pork is good. This store needs better service and a whole new cashier team. Floor is absolutely disgusting and filthy and constantly wet. Display case for poultry is slimy and hard to see. Was looking for a good barbecue duck store in Sacramento. Friend introduced place. Got to say, duck has a lot of meat compare to the one they sell in San Francisco. Maybe the ducks are from a local farm. Compare to the barbecue duck in San Francisco. The duck is very small and skinny. Taste was pretty good too with the duck barbecue sauce. Vinh Phat super market has a lot of other selections on the other items too.. 4 stars because some items were more expensive than the other store but some are cheaper. read more

Ok so everyone knows when you go shop at an Asian grocery store you're not going there for the customer service or anything. You go there because they have what you need that American grocery stores don't have. So I don't expect much from them but what really gets under my skin is when they have a price posted but over charge us and refuse to refund us the difference. And they could care less about bad reviews either but I thought I should share so everyone can beware shopping here and review your receipts. I went in to buy some beef bones and the price said 1.19 a pound but the lady charged me 1.49 a pound. I went in to dispute it and she's like oh no the piece is 1.49 . I have manager change price now. Seriously?! You get caught overcharging and you're like ok I'll fix it by changing the price. Shop there but be very aware. This rating is solely for the boba sold at Vinh Phat Market. It costs $2.50 for a large and note that it's cash only. They have a small selection of flavors, plain milk tea, taro, and mocha. The mocha milk tea is very thick and creamy and you can truly taste the chocolatey flavor. The tapioca balls are made well and are an ideal consistency, making the entire drink enjoyable. The service is the quickest I've ever seen for a boba place. For the price and quality of the drink, it's definitely worth a try! The only criticism I have is that I wish they offered a few more options. read more

Wow! Definitely one of the better Asian supermarkets on the blvd. I come here often when I feel like cooking up some Asian food -- I can find all the ingredients here conveniently for cheap. This place is tidy and a lot more sanitary than most other Asian stores. The store gets pretty packed on the weekends; lines do get long but it does move fairly quickly. Before coming here I was told they have fresh fish and meat, indeed they do! Butchers are always readily available to help you. They have a variety of seafood/meat to choose from. They even provide a courtesy clean where they'll scale down the fish at no extra cost. The early bird gets the worms when it comes to the produce. Come early enough - you'll get to pick from the freshest batch. They have a huge produce department and they're always fully stocked when I'm there. It's dirt cheap and affordable compared to American grocery stores. They also have a full aisle filled with an array of snacks, crackers, chips, etc. -- of course, my favorite aisle in the store! Service here is great. Workers are friendly and the cashiers are sociable. I remember roaming up and down an aisle and a worker actually came up to me and asked what I was looking for. Now, I certainly did not expect that kind of service! This place is fairly big with a decent size parking lot in the front and back of the store. read more

this is a traditional asain grocery store. Yes it smells. That's the beauty of it. They have all types of vegetables, fish's, poultry and yes PORK. I order this pig and paid $220.00 - well worth it. don't really know what the weight was - however; it was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic. THERE IS a language barrier here. I went to my local sushi bar where the owner and I are tight & simply asked if he could get me a pig & this is what we got. This way I take the language barrier out of the equation and just pay. This review is regarding their ready to eat foods. I just bought these spring rolls and egg rolls. The spring roll wrappers were all dry and hard and the meat inside was sour . The meat inside the egg rolls were sour as well. Bought a few banh mi sandwiches a few weeks ago and bread was dry and hard. It was not fresh at all. Real south east asian market, if you are looking for fresh exotic veggies this is the place

I came to Vinh Phat ever since I was little. I would call this the gem for supermarkets. Whatever you can't find in a regular Asian supermarket you would find it here plus more and for a better price. -1 Granted the parking here is a pain in the butt and people have a higher tendency of hit and run in that parking lot because other people can't park correctly. Service: 5 granted there was only 2 cashiers but a lot of customers it was actually pretty calm and they weren't rude and they tried to make a conversation with me. The cashier called me "pretty" which generally doesn't even come out of people mouths. This kind of put me in a positive mood. Food/ drinks: I've been trying to find this ramen in all the other ramen market and they didn't have it but Vinh Phat did. One of the other ramen that I bought from a different store they were cheaper by $5 per box. Kind of regret I didn't get it here. There's fresh roast duck, roast pig, and char siu etc. which I generally buy from them. If your allergic like I am you must let them know not to put peanuts in them for roast duck. Would I come back here? Definitely whatever you need fresh or unique items you generally don't find at other stores you'll find here plus more with a good price. read more

Vinh Phat isn't as big as 99 Ranch but it does the trick when you want to pick up a few standard items. Their meat counter is the main reason I visit. They seem to have good turnover so I find that their meats are fresh and a better priced compared to their larger, cleaner, more contemporary Asian Grocery stores. Also customer service can be a challenge at the counter so you need to make eye contact and be aggressive sometimes to get your order taken. Of course, it helps tremendously to speak the language. I'm a fan though because I like the no-frills grocery stores: get in, then get out with your purchases! read more
