I'll tell you what, don't come here on a weekend mid day and expect to find easy parking. Ton's of people here, so I had to park a fair distance out. I'm here to check out this Yum Cha hot deli and dim sum place inside the SF Supermarket. SF stands for Shun Fat ... not San Francisco! Just in case you were wondering. It's very similar to a 99 Ranch, but has more of a Vietnamese following, as the signs around the store are posted in that language instead of Chinese like 99 Ranch. I don't think Cantonese would work here. It's a big store and has a large live seafood section in the back as well as a produce section. I was gonna check out the snacks, but the place was so crowded, I just decided to go to the dim sum cafe in the front of the store. It's called Yum Cha Cafe and they have all the normal Chinese BBQ meats, like BBQ pork, roasted crispy skinned pork and roast ducks. I'll post a separate review for them as there's a separate Yelp listing.

Stopped by on a weeknight to grab some musubi supplies. Place was well-stocked. No lines. Easy shopping trip.

Stopped by here since my friend needed some booze for gifts. I told him to go somewhere else since I don't think they have good prices for liquor. I saw the prices and I knew they were high but he didn't care and we walked out with 600 bucks of liquor. I of course had to get some lotto tickets while we were there. Hopefully I win. The liquor counter is separate from the regular registers. W were helped out right away so no big wait. That was nice. They have clear plastic bags that they put the liquor in. I was worried that the bags might break but they lasted.

The produce is fresh, and I appreciate the variety of vegetables and fruits available here. They offer everything from jackfruit, rambutans, and durian to fresh peaches. I enjoy cooking, and whenever I feel like preparing Vietnamese food for my family, I stop by one of the Asian markets. I particularly like this market because it's spacious and usually has all the ingredients I need to make pho and bun rieu, canh chua, or spring rolls. Prices are reasonable.

This place is actually insane! They have a full food court, cute vendors selling so many cute things, and on top of that they had like 10 Christmas tree trees. And all of that is before you even hit the supermarket with the pharmacy. This is literally a super supermarket.

*everything* is fresh, even their frogs. Live fish and seafood available. Chicken thighs are a great price. Vegetable are great as well. Please keep an eye out for some items as they sell it even beyond their expired date i.e. wonton skin wrappers

Chinatown experience without having to travel to Chinatown. I guess the butcher didn't understand my English and told me to talk to him as he pointed to another guy behind the counter. I love the assortments of Asian foods that they have and so many interesting new to me vegetables.

Huge selection of items as the store is very big! Lots of ethnical items, produce and seafood/meats. We dropped by for some produce, and specialty drink items (Vietnamese coffee) and were startled by a giant pigeon that was sitting right across from the drinks! It was just sitting there watching us pick out our drinks. Our items were great, fair pricing, but that pigeon, just threw me off.

Tangerines as of 1/11/2025. Very firm, juicy and tart.

This is my go to for Asian ingredients/grocery. Some items are seasonal in the produce. Right now they have tangerines. So delicious and firm, I need to get more! Nice selection of herbs. I especially love the mint, Vietnamese coriander and culantro. They have bathrooms. They're decent. Lines are somewhat long during rush hours, but bearable. It goes by fast. Returns/exchanges/customer care transactions are done in the lotto/liquor line. I gotta remind myself they offer deep fried fish services. Fried tilapia are my family favorite. They have crab paste! Hard to find at some Asian stores! Coconut drinks by the case has gone up. They're a good $40 a case now. Store is relatively clean and organized. Signs in the aisles are pretty accurate.

Awesome place to shop. I was dropped by here when I'm in Sacramento. The service is good. Great Asian produce for a great price. Definitely recommended this location.

1.10.20 prices still a little high. Took away a 2.5lb frisky one for dinner.

It's been a while with the whole covid situation. However, this for years has been my go to spot when it's live Dungeness crab in season. Of all the live seafood purveyors in little Saigon I find this one to have the best kept live seafood including freshness of not only the food but the various tank and displays. The variety in compare to other stores is exceptional. The often found language barrier doesn't seem awkward here as the employees make the extra effort for those like me who are not remotely fluent in Vietnamese. They are in a hurry when the lines are long but seem to be far more relaxed and engaging when there's no line. They usually allow me to select the crab or at least show me their selection before it's placed in the bag for transporting it home. In all the times I've been buying here I have never had a bad crab. I prefer to steam and clean them myself and enjoy them while still warm with some delicious Baguettes from across the street. Their prices are on par and it's rare that I find them less expensive elsewhere and it often that I find other stores have them at a higher price. The craving for a crab is present now but I know the local catch will not be available until mid November. They often have crab from Washington and up to Alaska but the price creeps up substantially when the supply is less plentiful and has to come a furthers distance. Was happy they started to indicate the origin of their product in recent years.

Looking for fresh authentic Asain ingredients? They have all kinds of Vietnamese herbs and vegetables that you don't usually find at many other Asian stores and for reasonable prices. The seafood section is first come first served. Make sure to speak up because it could get crazy busy and hectic and they won't know who's there first. The seafood " Dungeness crab" is always fresh on sale when it's in season. The cashiers and staff are friendly and helpful.

Hot Food/Lobby Area: Dim Sum Items

It's nice that the newest SF opened up in Stockton on March Ln awhile back. This SF in Sacramento appeared quite old, out-dated, and kind of dirty (not just the interior structure but, more importantly, the food packages and all). Liked that they have the hot food deli dim sum area in the front lobby as that of 99 Ranch, but unfortunately some of the hot food such as Roast Pork or Roast Duck look so dry, old, and unappealing. Overall the place is a bit crowded and mostly unorganized aisle to aisle. I had to buy a few items since already there visiting Sacramento. Can't believe waited in line 20-30 minutes just to pay for 5 items! They have 10 open check-stands, none of which was set aside for "Express check-out 10 items or less", etc. Not fair for me or others standing there (with less than 10 items) behind those with a cart load of items (taking all day to check out). They need to set aside 1-2 lanes ready just for Express check-outs when needed.

I've never been to an Asian supermarket that dedicates a decent size freezer aisle to vegetarian fake meats.

I regularly stop in to pick up treats, drinks, produce like mushrooms and okra, and their poke and hot meal options. I also like their home goods sections with so many cool ramen bowls, sauce containers, and utensils. I'm always excited when I stop in when it's slower because I can take my time browsing. Whenever this happens I end up leaving with a lot more items. I appreciate that they carry a wide variety of items including some ingredients and items that are hard to find in the US and even at other Asian grocery stores. I've stopped into many different stores and I feel like Oto's has variety and quality at a great price. They do have their own parking, but be careful because it can be pretty tight and there's usually a good amount of cars coming in and out.

But none of those reasons are the real reason I truly love Oto's,let me tell you what I really love.....Late last year I decided I was going to learn how to make my favorite food in the world and that is sushi.I went ham,I got the knives I got the kits,I got the rice maker,I got all the seasonings but what I didn't have was a spot to pick up the highest level of fish that was needed to really make homemade sushi pop and that is where Oto's came in to save the day. Their daily "sushi-grade" tuna and salmon that they sell in the back of the store is so next level-even a novice like myself cannot mess up a homemade sushi meal. They have so much to offer at Oto's,all the different levels of salmon and tuna, depending on your budget but all of it is amazing. I will forever be indebted to Oto's for helping me raise my sushi game at home and making my wife think that I'm just the best sushi maker-when it was always just the high quality fish offered at Oto's that did the work-Thank You Oto's for that. In closing-if you ever find yourself in the Land Park area and want to see what all the hype is about at this incredible spot or maybe you just want to try your hand at some home sushi making,be sure to stop by Oto's Marketplace-it truly is a gem amongst gems. PS....Parking sucks here-no way around that one unless u get lucky or have a handicap placard-don't like the parking.

The back section has more frozen and refrigerated items including dumplings, meatballs, drinks, meats, and more. The very back has a butcher and seafood, including tanks of live seafood. Near the seafood it smells like a fish-market and the smell kind of permeates through the store but that's what you get with fresh fish. The aisles have an interesting organization and while they have a good variety there are some things that I've found elsewhere that I didn't see here. I did notice that there were some good deals, I picked up a couple items that I've found for a couple dollars more at other local markets. There's plenty of parking in the lot and there are some other great businesses in the plaza like the post office, pizza, boba, and some others.
