We travel from Northern California once a year, and coming back to Vinny's has become one of the highlights of our trip to Medford, Oregon. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious -- the chicken Alfredo was rich and flavorful, the lasagna tasted like authentic homemade Italian comfort food, the pizza was fantastic, and the Caesar salad was fresh and perfectly prepared. What truly makes this place special is the incredible service. What a rediscovery! Vinny's has returned to the pinnacle of Italian dining in the area again. After a hiatus, Vinny has revived the kitchen and vibe of this place and once again made it his special own. To me, Vinny's feels like old-school fine dining, and has the nostalgic classic charm of years gone by. It's wonderful to have a 'throwback' place to enjoy. Menu choices are plentiful with many specialties, pastas, chicken, veal, pizzas, salads, etc. Let me provide a few highlights for our recent dining experience. First, Soup or Salad comes included with main entrees, and we both opted for the Caesar Salad choice, and they really delivered. Their salad was like a true separate course, and not just a side offering (just like the old days!). From the very start, our experience was positive. One of our entrees was the Penne Bolognese which was cooked perfectly with just the right texture...not easy to do. It came with a hearty sauce and was enough for a leftover meal later on. Having a perfectly cooked pasta with an incredible sauce is not easy to top. Our other choice was their Fettuccine with White Clam sauce. The clams were plentiful and had their own perfect chew to them. It seems far too often that at other joints with this entree, the clams are scarce or tough...not here! This is a great entree, though it comes with a lot of garlic, so fair warning. Definitely a winner, in my book. Overall, the Quantity/Quality/Value here is well-optimized. You are getting plenty of food at amazing quality for a reasonable price. Pretty much, a tough to beat proposition, and all with great service and feel. Service is bad. They are extremely rude when food is sent back. False advertising - GF pasta cooked with non GF pasta does not count as GF. Restaurant appears clean enough. Nothing super special about the ambiance. Limited menu options for gluten free, nothing for vegans. Money hungry owners with ridiculous extra charges "$6 service charge for an extra plate when sharing a meal and a $3 per plate charge when bringing your own desserts." As stated on menu and website. Side note: Not my experience but my wife's friend was actually kicked out for breastfeeding her newborn a few years back when it wasn't busy. Even if it was busy, who cares? Baby has to eat. First the service was incredible! I believe Vinny's wife is the host and she is an absolute delight, extremely warm and welcoming! Service 10/10 I loved the salad, fresh greens and not too much dressing! The portion was HUGE! Definitely enough to feed two. The pasta was good, it would've been great if it had a little bit more seasoning (I'm from the islands so we LOVE seasoning on our food ). The food was definitely fresh and made with high quality ingredients Food 8/10 The restaurant is a little dark but they do provide you with little reading lights. I will note that I loved all of the family photos scattered around the restaurant, it makes you feel you are eating at your favorite Italian aunt's house. The food was amazing, me and my wife just had a baby and wanted to have a nice sit down dinner. I'm not familiar with authentic Italian food, but I would say that this was authentic. The mozzarella was real cheese and delicious. We ordered a pizza to share and it was made on some of the best bread, evenly sauced, and perfectly cook. The waitress was amazing and the two people who helped her served were really nice. I ordered the tiramisu for dessert and it was the best thing I've ever tasted in my life. This was a first for me. Wow. Just wow. Buyer beware. Believe the reviews that say the manager/owner treated them badly when they didn't like the food. I had the same experience. I didn't like my dessert and sent it back. He refused to take it off the bill-- he offered me another dessert but said there was "nothing wrong" with my dessert and it wasn't a "tasting establishment ". He refused to take the $15 cake off the bill and was very rude about it. Several other reviewers had the same experience. You should never leave a restaurant feeling bad about your experience. We tried Vinny's for the first time last night since moving here from Southern California. We were blown away! Vinny greeted us when we walked in and instantly made us feel welcomed and was genuinely glad to see us. The interior was a spectacular surprise. My wife and I both said it felt like we were in a swanky Beverly Hills restaurant. The entire staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was phenomenal! As a professional chef for over 20 years, it is rare that a restaurant overly impresses me, but Vinny's definitely did. I really appreciated the freshness of the ingredients and the attention to detail. While other Italian restaurants in the valley use sauces from corporate pre-made sauce pouches, Vinny's is authentic and made in-house just like an Italian Grandmother would make. Fantastic Italian restaurant. From the bread and salads to the pasta and sauces. The cannoli was incredible. We even met Vinny tonight as he took the time to come out of the kitchen and say hello and take a quick photo. Great wine and bourbon options too. The decor inside was very classic, which gave an authentic feel. The lighting was a little dim at first but we got used to it and it actually made the whole experience even more memorable. We moved to the Medford area six months ago. We saw Vinny's restaurant on OPB. Had to try it. The first time we went the food was exceptional. The service was excellent. Took visitors back for the second time the food and the service was good, but my eggplant Parmesan wasn't hot. Sometimes that happens. I didn't say anything the third time we went back just my husband and I went. The food was good. I tried the eggplant Parmesan again and it wasn't hot. The bus girl asked me if everything was OK I said not really my eggplant was not hot barely warm. Next thing I knew the owner of Vinny came out with an attitude with insults. Told me I didn't have a refined pallet. We will never go back and I will make sure to let anyone know how rude the owner was. That was Vinny. That's a shame. read more

I have to admit I had some snobby expectations about this place, based on other hyped-up local restaurants. I couldn't be happier to be wrong. The service was *incredible*. We didn't have reservations but we were able to snag seats at the counter. Old world ambiance. Loved seeing a chef/owner in action. My husband enjoyed the house wine. I'm not usually one to leave bad reviews, however Vinny's used to be my family's favorite place for special occasions. But sadly no more- the new owner is not properly preparing his dishes. The sauces are not good. I've personally had the pesto which was like a pesto paste drowning the pasta. Had to send it back. Just tried the Gnocchi Bolognese, so much garlic myself and my grandfather could not eat it. We used to love this place. This is a local, family-owned restaurant, and even though I didn't care for the food I want to be appreciative and respectful of everything they do well. Vinny's is a fun, American-Italian, old-fashioned, family style restaurant. The decor is charming. The owners and servers are all nice and eager to create a good experience. The main dishes are large and filling and come with soup or salad. That being said, I just don't care for this style of American-Italian cuisine. It's very heavy on thick sauces with an emphasis on garlic and salt. You will not find this style of food in Rome, Venice, Florence, or Naples. However, if you love the American versions, you will find lots to enjoy here. I wish they would go lighter on their sauces. Use fewer ingredients. Focus on simplicity. If you have spent time in Italy, you will know what I mean. The bottom of my plate was absolutely swimming in oil. I can imagine that the restaurant business is a very difficult one, and you must modify your recipes to suit the tastes of your area. Therefore, I think they are catering to what Southern Oregon customers want. And so, even though I have some criticisms, I should reiterate that Vinny's is a very solid place for this style of food. You will be treated very well here and will definitely not go home hungry. read more

If I could give a zero star I would. I called to ask what is in the cannoli and said I have a lot of allergies. The person who answered said the cheeses and chocolate chips. I asked if there was anything else and he said powdered sugar in the top. The cannoli filling was brown, so there was obviously something else in them. My friend called to ask what was in it and the owner refused to say. It smelled like it had alcohol so when she asked if it ha liqueur he said yes. I went to return the cannoli and explained all this and that i am allergic to alcohol. The owner told me I was "entitled" and it was my fault. He refused to refund me and said it cost him $60 in ingredients to make the $30 of cannoli. He was the rudest restaurant owner i have ever met. Avoid this place! read more
