Linguini nere con salame calabrese e gamberi

Our visit was good from start to end - table was ready for our reservation, and we were greeted warmly by everyone. Carpaccio to start - excellently prepared. The main dishes were very well balanced and tasty - penne pomodoro, squid-ink linguine w/ shrimp, and the tagliatelle w/ wild boar ragu. Lasagna we had high expectations for, but didn't wow us like the others. Desserts were good as well. Would definitely be back if we were are in the area again.

Wonderful location on Ashland creek with great patio dining! My husband loved the lasagna; I had an appetizer that I am not seeing on their online menu: Italian tuna (canned in oil), gorgeous tomatoes, burrata olive oil and basi. I brought half home; the next night I toasted some good bread, spread the burrata, topped with the tuna and the tomatoes. Yummy!!

I came solo and got a seat at the small bar on a busy Saturday night. The bartender was outstanding and attentive while orchestrating the drink orders. The vibe was casual but upscale. I had the carpaccio, delicious! Vodka martinis and a couple suggestions from the bartender. The front of the house was attentive and good. Overall great job. Good spot for date night.

excellent dinner, we made reservations and it was needed dunce they were very busy. Carpaccio was absolutely beautifully tender and scrumptious. Bianche e nere was excellent: squid ink and regular white linguini with shrimp and porcini mushrooms cooked to perfection in a white creamy sauce with some pancetta as well. Very tasty! as dessert we had a caramel flan with amaretto and whipped cream on the side... super delicious as well!! service was great. Parking in downtown is challenging but we found a street spot not too far away. It's a bit on the pricier side but very much worth it!!!! the decor is lovely and "our room" had about 8 tables in it.

I wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday and we're really in the mood for great Italian food... We found the perfect place! The restaurant was really popular and we didn't get seated till 815 which was fine because we got a nice seating location around the bay window. They have a terrific menu, but we settled for the Bucatini and Pappardelle... both outstanding and a bottle of wine! The service was great, but I only have one small criticism... I told the owner in advance that we were celebrating my wife's birthday and I thought maybe... Just maybe... They would treat her to wonderful gelato. I guess it's a thing now that even though you spend three figures on a dinner... You aren't treated to a birthday dessert like the old days. In any event, I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Bucatini al Ragu di Salsiccia (pork - this is the half portion)

We went with our brother and sister-in-law before a play while in Ashland. Definitely make reservations! We were greeted and seated right on time. My wife and I split the Insalata Tricolore con Gorgonzola. It was excellent! We also split the Pappardelle Agnello e Pistacchi (lamb) and loved it. Our guests also split the Gorgonzola salad but ordered the Bucatini al Ragu di Salsiccia (pork). They liked it, but it was a bit plain. I tasted it and agreed. Our lamb had better flavor, in my opinion. Both dishes, however, were very good. Our server, Gina, was very helpful with the wine, our selections and service. The restaurant's kitchen is on the main floor and dining on the second floor. This requires the servers to walk up and down a flight of stairs multiple times in an evening. Quite the workout. We recommend and will likely go back next time we're in town.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing food. The wild boar ragu was outstanding and my partners seafood pasta was super fresh and perfecly cooked, both on beds of handmade pasta. Wonderful cocktails and an outstanding variety of local and Italian wines. Well worth the price, we will definitely be going back on our next trip to Ashland.

Ask the Community - Osteria La Briccola

I had the cioppino a year ago and it was so good one of the best next to my moms, coming into town this weekend Is the cioppino on the menu every night?

The Osteria La Briccola is constantly changing its menu.

    Is it upstairs?

    Yes

I rarely travel to Ashland, however, it sounds as though the owner has a restaurant in Los Angeles, where I travel much more frequently. Could I please find out the name of the southern California restaurant?

After some internet sleuthing- I believe the owner of La Briccola Davide Ghizzoni was the executive chef at Ca' Del Sole in LA

Can you bring your own bottle of wine?

I haven't seen anyone bring wine.

Is the lunch menu different? Are their sandwiches?

No the menu is the same as dinner. Sorry no sandwiches.

What is the pricing like? Any pictures of the menu?

Hi. $20-30 a dish. So figure $50 per person with drinks and/or appetizers. It's worth it for a special occasion.

The server was a teenager with no sense of humor but that's ok. Our food was fine. We ordered pasta and my husband and I shared a salad. We ate lots of bread and they refilled as needed-2 kinds. White & wheat. It was fine. We each got a different pasta dish. I had one of the specials of the day. It was a fettuccine with creamy dill and mustard sauce with chicken. I had enough for my lunch the next day (but I did eat a lot of bread before the salad & pasta came). I'm writing this a week later and to be honest I don't remember much about the salad, if that tells you anything. Others in our party had eggplant parm which came with pasta, another pasta dish with added meatballs, and angel hair pasta with prawns. Nobody raved about how amazing their food was, nor did they complain. I noticed somebody else's review about dirty menus but I didn't notice that so maybe they took care of that. All in all, I wasn't impressed, but nor was I displeased overall. It was just...fine...

We wanted something easy, comforting but also delicious and this place nailed all three. I got the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and my son who normally gets buttered noodles decided to try the fettuccine Alfredo. My husband found this restaurant and even though it didnt have as many reviews as some of the other places in town, we decided to give it a chance and we are soooo glad we did!! The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauces fresh, and the portions just right! My kids loved their Alfredo (not pictured). My husband and I both loved our picks as well. Service was fantastic. Our table was in their patio space, which I actually like better than the indoor part of the restaurant. The patio space feels very open and has a lot of live plants in the planters that make space between tables. It was a little warm on the patio since it was 98 degrees outside, but they keep it relatively cool on this mostly enclosed patio. Our server was great. She was so friendly and fun to talk to. She helped us figure out what we wanted to order and checked in on us just the right amount. You can tell the food here is very fresh and homemade. We started with the Deviled Eggs, which are really special. I love how they serve them over a bed of crushed up potato chips as they give this dish some salty crunch. Next we had the Beet salad, which is marinated beets over a whipped cheese. The beets do have a strong vinegar flavor, but it's balanced out beautifully by the cheese. My wife ordered the Mushroom Bolognese, which was probably the best dish of the evening. This is an incredible, vegetarian dish that is so meaty without any meat. The finely diced mushroom sauce is so good along with the handmade noodles. Also, adding burrata to it gives it a perfect creaminess. I ordered the pork chop, which was also excellent and enormous. It did take me a lot longer to eat since it was a little hard to cut, the compote on top added a great sweetness, but I feel like it could've used more. Also, the polenta and grilled asparagus was awesome. Lastly, we got the Rice Pudding for dessert. It comes with a hazelnut crumble and a dolce de leche sauce. Normally, I feel like rice pudding has a kind of thin, milky consistency, but not this. It is think and has a wonderful texture. It is probably the best rice pudding I've ever had. The nuts give a satisfying crunch and the dolce de leche sauce is light and sweet. Disclaimer: we did order one dish we really didn't like. It was a special salad with endives and lentils. The server was happy to get us another dish.
