I was with some friends in Ashland for a bachelorette outing this spring, and the restaurant where we had planned on eating dinner ended up having an event going on and we were unable to go there. We ended up just wandering around the area looking for an alternative and stumbled upon Osteria La Briccola; I'm always down for Italian, and it looked like there were some good options for the members of our group who were gluten free. There were 7 of us though, and we were told it would be about a 50-minute wait for a table. It was getting kind of late to be looking for somewhere else to go, so we were like okay, we'll just sit and wait. As we were walking away, the general manager Daniel rushed out and said if we could give him 15 minutes, he could have us set up in the private dining room. We didn't even know such a thing existed, but we said okay, cool. Reader, it could not have possibly been a better experience. We waited a bit (less than 15 minutes, even) and walked into this private space to find a large family-style dining table all set up for us, with candlelight and music and the whole bit. Our server Patrick was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the menu, able to answer all our questions, and had a great sense of humor. Everyone ordered something different and ended up trying bites of each other's food, and it was all delicious. Several of us even ordered dessert; I don't normally, but the salted caramel gelato sounded too good to pass up (and it was well worth it). It was such a great evening and was, I'm sure, 10x better than the other place we'd originally planned on eating at. Thank you Daniel and Patrick for taking such good care of us!

excellent dinner, we made reservations and it was needed dunce they were very busy. Carpaccio was absolutely beautifully tender and scrumptious. Bianche e nere was excellent: squid ink and regular white linguini with shrimp and porcini mushrooms cooked to perfection in a white creamy sauce with some pancetta as well. Very tasty! as dessert we had a caramel flan with amaretto and whipped cream on the side... super delicious as well!! service was great. Parking in downtown is challenging but we found a street spot not too far away. It's a bit on the pricier side but very much worth it!!!! the decor is lovely and "our room" had about 8 tables in it.

I wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday and we're really in the mood for great Italian food... We found the perfect place! The restaurant was really popular and we didn't get seated till 815 which was fine because we got a nice seating location around the bay window. They have a terrific menu, but we settled for the Bucatini and Pappardelle... both outstanding and a bottle of wine! The service was great, but I only have one small criticism... I told the owner in advance that we were celebrating my wife's birthday and I thought maybe... Just maybe... They would treat her to wonderful gelato. I guess it's a thing now that even though you spend three figures on a dinner... You aren't treated to a birthday dessert like the old days. In any event, I definitely recommend this restaurant.

We went with our brother and sister-in-law before a play while in Ashland. Definitely make reservations! We were greeted and seated right on time. My wife and I split the Insalata Tricolore con Gorgonzola. It was excellent! We also split the Pappardelle Agnello e Pistacchi (lamb) and loved it. Our guests also split the Gorgonzola salad but ordered the Bucatini al Ragu di Salsiccia (pork). They liked it, but it was a bit plain. I tasted it and agreed. Our lamb had better flavor, in my opinion. Both dishes, however, were very good. Our server, Gina, was very helpful with the wine, our selections and service. The restaurant's kitchen is on the main floor and dining on the second floor. This requires the servers to walk up and down a flight of stairs multiple times in an evening. Quite the workout. We recommend and will likely go back next time we're in town.

I'm still frequenting Osteria La Briccola with no plans of stopping. You must order my favorite dish: Linguine Nere Con Salame Calabrese E Gamberi. It's the pasta dish to end all pasta dishes. Squid ink pasta, shrimp, and sausage mixed in a gorgeous buttery sauce. The freshness and brininess of the sea collide so beautifully with the heartiness of the sausage. I literally have dreams about it, wake up, and book my reservations.

Friends enjoying La Briccola in Ashland!

I put a longer review on Google but I will write it here as well because I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. My big irritation with restaurants these days is that they don't really create a welcoming environment or vibe. But, La Briccola is different. They will make you feel like THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT YOU BEING THERE. The service was awesome - any server who came by our table was nice, attentive, and helpful. The food was great. The cocktails were super yummy. It was a beautiful evening with a staff who were top notch. Daniel was especially attentive to our needs. We will be back!!

Ask the Community - Osteria La Briccola

I had the cioppino a year ago and it was so good one of the best next to my moms, coming into town this weekend Is the cioppino on the menu every night?

The Osteria La Briccola is constantly changing its menu.

    Is it upstairs?

    Yes

I rarely travel to Ashland, however, it sounds as though the owner has a restaurant in Los Angeles, where I travel much more frequently. Could I please find out the name of the southern California restaurant?

After some internet sleuthing- I believe the owner of La Briccola Davide Ghizzoni was the executive chef at Ca' Del Sole in LA

Can you bring your own bottle of wine?

I haven't seen anyone bring wine.

Is the lunch menu different? Are their sandwiches?

No the menu is the same as dinner. Sorry no sandwiches.

What is the pricing like? Any pictures of the menu?

Hi. $20-30 a dish. So figure $50 per person with drinks and/or appetizers. It's worth it for a special occasion.

There is not one thing I would change about this restaurant. Making the reservation on their…read morewebsite site was easy. We showed up at 5 and were greeted by the same fabulous woman as last time. You just know that someone that kind and welcoming would not own a place she wasn't rightfully proud of. She sets the tone and all the employees carry it through the entire meal. We chose to try the patio tonight and it was cozy yet open, darker with a couple of fire lights around the room. Intimate. Some of the tables are separated by live plants in planter boxes. We loved it. We started with the beets (with shaved fennel pieces and a citrus vinaigrette with a tahini yogurt sauce on the bottom) and burrata (with grilled pieces of bread and sugar snap peas and capers) appetizers - both were delicious. Randy wanted to try another of their off menu drinks. We can't remember what this drink is called but it's not on the menu and has some Mai tai mix and orange bitters ... like a mock Mai tai spritzer. Delicious - Randy had two! I got the mushroom bolognese - so good. It's home made (!) bucatini pasta with a mushroom (cremini, oyster and shiitake) and san Marzano tomato sauce with burrata on top. I love mushrooms but Randy does not and he loved this dish. The mushrooms taste meaty. Randy ordered the Carbonara again and it was also delicious. We also got an order of garlic bread this time and wow. We each have half of our dinners left, lucky us. We shared the creme brûlée which came with a lavender short bread cookie. Perfect. Everything was perfect. The place was packed and all employees were calm and efficient and friendly. Can't wait to go back!
