The food was very good, especially the carpaccio and squid ink pasta, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We noted on our reservation that we were celebrating both an anniversary.The staff did verbally acknowledge our celebrations, which we appreciated, but beyond that, there was no special touch or gesture during the evening. We certainly weren't expecting anything extravagant, but since this restaurant is known as a special-occasion destination, and we had specifically included celebration in our reservation, the experience felt a little underwhelming for such an important dinner. I was with some friends in Ashland for a bachelorette outing this spring, and the restaurant where we had planned on eating dinner ended up having an event going on and we were unable to go there. We ended up just wandering around the area looking for an alternative and stumbled upon Osteria La Briccola; I'm always down for Italian, and it looked like there were some good options for the members of our group who were gluten free. There were 7 of us though, and we were told it would be about a 50-minute wait for a table. It was getting kind of late to be looking for somewhere else to go, so we were like okay, we'll just sit and wait. As we were walking away, the general manager Daniel rushed out and said if we could give him 15 minutes, he could have us set up in the private dining room. We didn't even know such a thing existed, but we said okay, cool. Reader, it could not have possibly been a better experience. We waited a bit (less than 15 minutes, even) and walked into this private space to find a large family-style dining table all set up for us, with candlelight and music and the whole bit. Our server Patrick was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the menu, able to answer all our questions, and had a great sense of humor. Everyone ordered something different and ended up trying bites of each other's food, and it was all delicious. Several of us even ordered dessert; I don't normally, but the salted caramel gelato sounded too good to pass up (and it was well worth it). We visit Ashland every from California to celebrate our Anniversary and to attend the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. We always dine here during our trip...this restaurant never disappoints!!! In the elevator ride up to the restaurant, we met Daniel (manager) who we've known for several years now. He knew we had a reservation and he was going to sit us with our requested server. After he checked us in, he walked us to our table outside and provided us with complementary Prosecco for our anniversary anniversary...such a nice gesture. Our server, Carly, (who we had last year) was wonderful again. She's friendly, informative, and very attentive to your needs.. her recommendations were spot on and definitely enhanced our culinary experience. Our first time in Ashland, we wanted to go to something authentic. The gal from the mercantile store recommended Osteria La Bricolla. However we did not have a reservation, but she said to call or sit at the bar. When we got there we got seated immediately. Had the spaghetti my girlfriend had the lasagna. We asked about a pairings. Bianche e nere was excellent: squid ink and regular white linguini with shrimp and porcini mushrooms cooked to perfection in a white creamy sauce with some pancetta as well. Very tasty! as dessert we had a caramel flan with amaretto and whipped cream on the side... super delicious as well!! service was great. Parking in downtown is challenging but we found a street spot not too far away. Our visit was good from start to end - table was ready for our reservation, and we were greeted warmly by everyone. Carpaccio to start - excellently prepared. The main dishes were very well balanced and tasty - penne pomodoro, squid-ink linguine w/ shrimp, and the tagliatelle w/ wild boar ragu. I came solo and got a seat at the small bar on a busy Saturday night. The bartender was outstanding and attentive while orchestrating the drink orders. The vibe was casual but upscale. Superb northern Italian cuisine in an elegant restaurant along Lithia Creek. The food was terrific, and the service was even better! Even on a busy Saturday night, everyone made us feel welcome. Our server Carly was so kind, incredibly helpful & knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu. We started with an antipasto, tagliere di affettato misto. It was a huge - prosciutto, salame, mortadella, burrata, and other goodies. (Carly brilliantly suggested boxing some of it to take back to our hotel room with a fridge but no microwave. We saved room for our entrees, and had an elegant and safe lunch for the next day!) The entrees were both excellent. My husband had the wild boar ragu on house-made pasta (tagliatelle cinghiale) which was outstanding. My gnocchi with a creamy gorgonzola sauce topped with walnuts (gnocchi gorgonzola e noci) was fabulous. We've traveled a good bit in Tuscany and Umbria, and felt that this meal was as good as any we had there. We're already planning our next trip back to Ashland, and looking forward to our next meal at Osteria La Briccola! read more

I wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday and we're really in the mood for great Italian food... We found the perfect place! The restaurant was really popular and we didn't get seated till 815 which was fine because we got a nice seating location around the bay window. They have a terrific menu, but we settled for the Bucatini and Pappardelle... both outstanding and a bottle of wine! The service was great, but I only have one small criticism... I told the owner in advance that we were celebrating my wife's birthday and I thought maybe... Just maybe... They would treat her to wonderful gelato. I guess it's a thing now that even though you spend three figures on a dinner... You aren't treated to a birthday dessert like the old days. We went with our brother and sister-in-law before a play while in Ashland. Definitely make reservations! We were greeted and seated right on time. My wife and I split the Insalata Tricolore con Gorgonzola. It was excellent! We also split the Pappardelle Agnello e Pistacchi (lamb) and loved it. Our guests also split the Gorgonzola salad but ordered the Bucatini al Ragu di Salsiccia (pork). They liked it, but it was a bit plain. I tasted it and agreed. Our lamb had better flavor, in my opinion. Both dishes, however, were very good. Our server, Gina, was very helpful with the wine, our selections and service. The restaurant's kitchen is on the main floor and dining on the second floor. This requires the servers to walk up and down a flight of stairs multiple times in an evening. Quite the workout. I'm still frequenting Osteria La Briccola with no plans of stopping. You must order my favorite dish: Linguine Nere Con Salame Calabrese E Gamberi. It's the pasta dish to end all pasta dishes. Squid ink pasta, shrimp, and sausage mixed in a gorgeous buttery sauce. The freshness and brininess of the sea collide so beautifully with the heartiness of the sausage. On my second visit, I requested my reservation be moved up a half an hour and Taylor was so great in honoring my request and greeting us with a smile when we arrived. Third visit to our favorite restaurant in Ashland. All of their noodles are made from scratch and delicious. I had the gnocchi with melted gorgonzola, which I have ordered twice and always enjoy. My wife got spaghetti with shrimp and scallops (held the clams). Desert was the flourless chocolate cake for desert. Everything was delicious and service was attentive and quick. Dinner was absolutely fantastic. The perfect place to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. Daniel and his team knocked it out of the park. All the food was extremely delicious and the drinks were perfect. I would highly recommend anybody even passing through Ashland to stop by this place if they can. We went to a play at the Shakespeare Festival and made reservations to eat at the Osteria La Bricolla after on the recommendation of a local friend. Three of us went and we all said WOW. Service was excellent and the food was just plain amazing. We ordered four items for the three of us. My wife had the Lazagna and our friend had the special which was Short Rib Ravioli and I had the Bucatini Al Raga Di Salsiccia Di Maiale. As an extra to share we ordered the Gnocchi Di Patate. The Gnocchi was light and fluffy little joyful bites of amazing flavor. All the other dishes were just the best. If you are in Ashland and if you like Italian food you have to go the Osteria La Bricolla as it is great.
