Went to Vino Bella last night for 'date night'....service was good, wine was tasty, food was delicious, crowd/vibe was cool with a good band playing. So why am I rating them with only one star? When we got the bill we noticed that we'd been up-charged for two additional glasses of wine (one extra Terra Blanca and one extra Dashwood....see picture)....and trying to get this resolved turned into a weird and uncomfortable situation.... The owner happened to be walking near our table so I got his attention and explained the discrepancy, he asked for us to wait a moment and came back with the bartender who was a bit aggressive with questioning the discrepancy (not sure why they didn't first talk to waitress since she was probably the one that added the two extra glasses of wine to the bill...) After a lot of back-and-forth between the bartender and owner with raised voices to hear above the band, they FINALLY took the extra charges off the bill... This situation really did not need to escalate into what it became, it could have easily and quickly been resolved with the owner and bartender (or waitress) apologizing and taking the extra charges off the bill....but this is not how things played out....I really don't understand why they had so much pushback towards us for a mistake that THEY made!! It doesn't make sense... I've heard of establishments "accidentally on purpose" adding non-existent costs to patrons bills to make extra profit (in the hopes that the customer does not look closely at bill and question the discrepancy)....I certainly hope that Vino Bella is not one of those types of places, but I honestly do not know.... They call themselves a wine bar, but their selection of wine is very slim and unremarkable and the food is HIGHLY unremarkable. $19 for a chicken Caesar with dressing that is obviously bottled is a total ripoff. It also took forever to get it because the kitchen was "backed up" and yet the place was half empty. I definitely understand why it was half empty... the rest is a mystery. This place has a real problem. I was there with a group of people celebrating a friend's birthday. We were having a good time, when towards the end when the time came to toast champagne in the end and I clanked my glass against the wine bottle. All of sudden the waitress made the decision of not serving me any drink accusing of being drunk !!!! Really !!! Two Long Island ice tea and she accused me of falling of my chair ??? Me and my gf came here on a Wednesday night to eat dinner, have drinks and watched a little live comedy show they had going on. Never been here before. We came in and got a good table quickly and easily. Were promptly seated and served by a very nice, personable waitress (I wish I could remember her name petite, pretty Asian young lady). She carded us and followed the Covid restrictions. She also took our drink orders and got them out to us quickly. Service the whole time was great. We both ordered food as well. I ordered a dinner entree Chicken Risotto with mushrooms. It was hearty and filled me up...was a little bland to be honest but good once I put some parmesan cheese, salt and pepper on it. My gf got the cheese platter for an appetizer and ravioli for an entree. I tried a bite of both and thought they were yummy. Only recommendation for me personally is put more sauce and/or seasoning on it that really makes it pop in your mouth and add zest to the food. My buddy who is full blood Italian who lives in Issaquah and been to this restaurant a lot says these guys food is always good (and he owns many Italian food trucks and family restaurant so he knows his stuff especially when it comes to Italian food). I think the chef who may have been working when I was there may not have been as skilled in the culinary arts but that does not reflect on the owner or usual standards of good food and service. A chef is like an artist...some are MUUUUCH better than others. You could put 2 artists paintings in a gallery...one is Da Vinci and the other is Joe Smoe who just graduated from Shoreline Community College and makes paintings that look like a 12 year old did it. So overall...I recommend this place! Good food potential, ambience, friendly service, easy parking, good atmosphere and in the cool/old part of Issy off Front street. I met the owner Claude and he is a nice, professional stand-up guy. I like owners like him! Been working hard and a pillar for the community since the early 2000s I believe. I talked with him for awhile. I will come back again sometime and go HARD on another Italian dish. I am not a wine guy (beer guy) but if I was this would also be a great place to go for the wine as they have a nice selection of wines. Also have a full bar so you basically can order any type of drink you like. Go give these guys your business and at least give a shot. This sandwich was all bread (got to give them credit for it being warm) one verrrry thin slice of prosciutto (couldn't even taste it) a thick slice of cheese, lettuce and tomato along with pesto spread and balsamic. Instead of accusing the server who was very nice to your the whole evening by saying slur words to her, you should instead have been thankful she was looking out for your well being. Leaving no tip reflects badly of your group. You were all having a fabulous time dancing, drinking and eating until it was almost the end of the evening. And how bad, after your group left, one of your friends saying they will dispute the bill because they don't feel they have to pay for why your group consumed. Observing that while scene, some of us thought that it looks like your group wanted to freeload and not pay for anything and intentionally created a drama. A Yelp search for a wine bar and/or espresso near Issaquah led me to Vino Bella several months ago. I don't remember which bottle of (red) wine we ordered but it must have been pretty good because I remember finishing it. I believe my cousin didn't end up ordering any espresso because it was a bit too late for espresso (the owner? chatted with us and we didn't end up leaving until 30-60 minutes after they closed). I was happy they had gluten-free pasta available but I'm not sure if my husband enjoyed it because he realized he wasn't hungry shortly after the dish arrived. We also ordered the cheese plate but should have known to not do that when we asked them to skip the crackers and they said they couldn't because the plate was pre-made. The best part was probably the chat with the owner (pretty sure it was the owner). I don't remember what it was about exactly but he seemed excited when he heard that my cousin (who was at the table) lives in France and ended up talking to us for probably an hour or two (we left 30-60 minutes after the restaurant closed). read more

The food exceeded expectations- the filet mignon was one of the best I've ever had (I eat a lot of steak), and the Bolognese was lovely. What a great idea to have an outside covered area where we can eat, drink, and listen to live music! I am so glad that the owner thought of a covid safe way for us all to still hear live music. The large outside tent we were sitting in has string lights and socially distanced tables . We also were so lucky to get tickets to see Jim Washburn (THE piano man). We've been here before, but first time for dinner. I called 4 times during the day to ask if I could bring a homemade birthday cake to give my daughter for her 30th birthday. Even left a message. We were the last of 6 to arrive. There was 1 other party that left soon after. The waitress came up and promptly told us we couldn't eat the cake. We weren't planning on it. She spoke SO quietly that we couldn't really hear her. We ordered a bottle of wine. Got that. We waited and waited to order dinner. We were still the only patrons. We ran out of water and never got more. Finally got dinner, the chicken gorgonzola was very good but was strong sun dried tomatoes, not much for gorgonzola. My mushroom risotto had about 3 slices of mushroom, was dry, and bland. About 10 minutes later, I got up, went and grabbed salt and pepper for our table. My son in law had to go get parmesan. I had to use quite a bit of salt, but finally my food was a little better. We were out of wine, out of water, and my food was dry. Rachel, our waitress, eventually came back to check on us. We got more wine but she still didn't get us water. We paid the bill, she brought us the reciept, never engaging with us at all. We've eaten at montalcino and had Phenomenal food and service. While visiting Issaquah, I became enchanted with the town. It is picturesque being nestled in the mountains and the downtown area has such a quaint feel to it. I saw this place while we were across the street and decided that I had to go. Its a kinda small place and has a little outside area with a couple of tables. I had a glass of refreshing rose and my friend had the some cider. The interior is brick and has beautiful pieces from local artist. I really enjoyed my time there and will definitely return to spend more time here. read more
