My sisters and I had a great time a couple of weeks back. Great wine selection. The food was so good. The staff were friendly. Simple and fun. They had a variety of stools to choose from which was nice. The decor felt about right for a wine bar. It's a great spot for a night out.

Stopped in to meet friends the other day at Vino Simpatico in South Pasadeno. This wine bar has a substantial selection of wine by the glass or bottle. It is a quaint, comfortable, friendly establishment. The sommelier, Ben, introduced a glass of Corporosso Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Reserva 2013 when I asked for something other than my go-to cabernat. What a delight. I had to purchase a bottle to take home. There is a nice selection of specialty beers also. They have parking in the front and back which is always a perk.

I haven't decided just yet whether or not I should scream it from the rooftops or try to keep it hidden for myself, but here we are so I guess we are going with option one. Vino Simpatico is too easy to miss if you're not looking for it. And impossible to avoid once you discover it. For most people it's probably the wine tastings and events that bring them in - but I would imagine it's the people that keep them coming back. That and maybe the really generous wine club membership that makes corkage fees just $5... When I first walked in it was early, quiet, empty, all which allowed the smell of fresh popped popcorn and the walls lined with bottles to stand out. Since we were the only ones there we got the best seats in the house - the bar. Before I could get 2 sips into my wine the place was already filling up. The live music filled the room so that I could have nice conversation with the people near me. What is most special about Vino Simpatico is how down to earth it all is. Especially because there are no pretentious wino shenanigans. The atmosphere is comfortable, casual clothes all around. It's a place you feel welcome. It proves you can explore, and learn about wine without it having to be a big production. OR you can simply meet with friends to enjoy music, a slight buzz, and relish in the peace of knowing you don't have to clean the glasses. Bonus points for regular shmegular free parking too. We love to see it.

Wonderful local wine shop with an extensive selection and owners with extensive knowledge of wine. They offer wonderful wine dinners every couple of months. Tastings every Thursday live music on Friday Great place for private parties and events. Everyone is super nice, great customer service. They give a local warmth to the place and a feeling everyone knows your name.

If you have "never been that big into wine" or thought wine wasn't quite your image...think again! Vino Simpatico not only has one of the best tasting menus that changes weekly, they have a place for you to relax and just enjoy the moment. The staff have always treated me and guests incredibly well. Some have tasted thousands of wines while others are new to the role themselves. In both cases it always strikes good quality conversations and fun. Hungry? Try the garlic bread with ranch pesto or their truffle oil popcorn (swoon!!)

Chateau grand abord Bordeaux Smoky plum nose, pomegranate, blood orange, and cranberry hints. Spicy round palate, plump and earthy.

Amazing atmosphere and lounge area. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. I always Ask them for suggestions on new wines to try.

No wastage from open wine or over pouring. I have never seen a setup so perfect for both the consumer and the seller. But what really knocked my socks off was the food! The Study only has a cold kitchen but managed to produce a fantastic mini meatball and warm bread spread for $14 and a Medium St Helena Coterie board $25 that really hit home. I drank two glasses of an Argentinian wine. Wing Man Gary (USAF pilot, retired) is on his pain meds so could not partake. I made sure to drink his share of wine as well!

You receive a card and use that to fill your glass (1oz, 3oz and 6oz pours -- 1oz are discounted during happy hour). There's such a diverse variety of wines (more than two dozen), you could get lost in all of the good options. Something for all palates. I tried the small Sonoma board (which was discounted for happy hour) and it was a good-sized, cheese-focused board with solid combinations. the meat and cheeses come with cornichons, olives, and crackers. the caramelized balsamic onion jam was incredible with the sweet blueberry goat cheese and the spicy salami. It's definitely enough for a quick bite to soak up all the delicious wine. Snappers was packed at 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. However, as it was late July, we were able to get a table outside right away. There are fans to help with the heat, and it's well ventilated so there was a nice breeze. Our server was prompt and friendly. The menu was seafood with an Asian flair. We started with the crab stuffed portobello (probably the weakest part of the meal) and delicious coconut shrimp. After that, our entrees came with salads, which were also great (tortilla chips and a zesty dressing made it more fun than your usual house salad, but it didn't feel too decadent). I got the snapper, which was served over coconut rice and with a delicious curry sauce and mango chutney. The curry reminded me more of thinner Japanese curry versus Indian or Thai, which I loved. The snapper itself was a nicely-sized piece and was cooked/seasoned perfectly with a hint of spice. The coconut sticky rice was so addictive!! The sweetness of the mango chutney just made each bite a wonderful flavor explosion. I would 100% recommend this dish. My husband got the coconut cashew crusted mahi, which was also excellent (and another huge portion of fish). It seems like you can't go wrong here with a fish dish!

To drink - the "Osaka Mule" and the "Shiso Heavy". Both were good, though we recognized that the Osaka Mule had a slight edge on the Shiso Heavy. Neither of us are normally sake drinkers so this was nice and refreshing for us - the Osaka Mule had nice hints of cucumber and the wasabi salt on the rim was a huge hit with us. To eat - we ordered the gyoza and the miso udon. The gyoza was incredible - an explosion of flavor unlike anything else I've had in a long time. Truly unforgettable and honestly the best part of my entire weekend. The miso udon was good as well - my partner thought the udon might've been just slightly overcooked. We split both and then decided to order the gyudon as well afterwards. The gyudon was also very good - daikon radish was a great addition to the flavor! With respect to the atmosphere/ambience - it's a small place, but cozy. The music was nice - the bartender allowed me to browse some of the records. They have a great collection and I enjoyed listening to several of their selection! It was a little pricy for me, but ultimately, to be expected of such a great experience. Will return again!

This is the kind of place that feels like it's been around forever, in the best way. Spacious for the area, lively without being chaotic, and backed by attentive service that keeps things moving even when it's busy. The menu is extensive, and then just when you think you've seen it all, there's a specials board tucked away with even more to choose from. If you can time your visit right, Tuesday is the move. They run a buy one pound, get one pound half off deal on snow crab legs, and it's easily one of the best values around. The snow crab legs are fresh and satisfying, and the Dungeness crab holds its own as well. Both pair perfectly with their rich, drawn butter, simple but done right. Portion sizes here are no joke. The shrimp skewers are almost excessive in the best way. Three skewers loaded with roughly eight shrimp each, so you're looking at around two dozen shrimp total, all a solid medium-large size. It's the kind of dish that makes you pause when it hits the table. The shrimp pasta is another standout and clearly a house favorite. It's packed with flavor and easily one of the more memorable dishes on the menu. Good enough that ordering a second one to-go actually makes sense. The clam chowder, though, was the one miss. While it's loaded with plenty of clam meat and has a hearty base, there's a slightly smoky flavor that throws it off. If you're a chowder fan, it might not hit the mark. Probably something to skip next time. As for the crab cakes, they passed a pretty tough test. A Maryland native at the table gave them a strong approval, which says a lot. Pro tip: Get there early, ideally around lunch, if you want to lock in that snow crab deal. It's popular, and you don't want to risk missing out. Overall, this is a reliable, crowd-pleasing seafood spot that leans into big portions, solid execution, and a relaxed coastal vibe. Whether you're a local or just visiting St. Pete Beach, it's an easy recommendation and definitely worth a return trip.
