    "Oh How You Sparkle" cocktail
    Andrea S.

This is a fun spot. 3rd time in. The wine cards make your self-serve convenient and a great way to start up a convo with another patron. Outdoor patio is a beautiful and quiet place to linger overlooking an intimate park area. This trip I tried a cocktail, Oh How you sparkle. Was sweet, but oh so good! (Anything bubbly is a winner for me). The chicken tomato pesto panini was delicious. Melted cheese and very tasty tomato pesto sauce. It was all cooked to perfection including the fresh toasted bread. Also munched on a charcuterie board. Good selection of meats and cheeses. Maybe a bit over priced. Not to the restaurants fault but staffing was an issue as it is everywhere so service a bit slow, but very friendly and she took things in stride given I'm sure she was exhausted.

Wine flight (2 whites and a red)

Wild crush has such a beautiful patio. My mom and I tried so many of their wines using their self pour dispensers and got a wine flight! I could tell they were understaffed as we waited 20 minutes until I finally went up to the bar. She said she would send a waitress right out and she still didn't come, so I ended up ordering at the bar anyway. There were signs posted for help needed so I didn't mind ordering at the bar. I will be looking forward to trying some of their food next time!

Visited this wine bar for the first time last night and enjoyed our cocktails and appetizers. We skipped the wines as we got sidetracked by the cocktail menu. My favorite was the plum lemonade. It was a tasty concoction of plum vodka, lemonade and other magic elixirs, finished with a delicious cherry. The "Oh How You Sparkle" cocktail was also pretty good, with champagne, cranberry and orange flavors. We tried the spinach artichoke dip, which was delightfully warm and creamy, served with big buttery crackers and chewy breadsticks. We also tried the chicken and beef skewers. I preferred the grilled chicken satay over the beef. The decor was simple but interesting. Our waitress was great. This place shares a lovely patio with Cleaver & Cocktail, definitely a great place to spend some time during these mild months.

Three amigas enjoying a beautiful February afternoon.

We're not regulars by any stretch of the imagination, but we've been here a number of times over the years. Sometimes it's just my husband and me, sometimes family members join us, and we've brought friends here as well. Nobody has ever not been happy they came here! We had a reservation and were greeted and seated right away. They have a big blackboard where they write the special drinks of the day, so I always have to check that out! They have small plates and entrees there. We almost always do all small plates. The exception is the shrimp and grits because we really like it! This time we did all small plates. The stuffed portabellini mushrooms were a newer menu item and they were SO good! I could have ordered more of those and been fine without anything else! Our next favorite was the oven baked goat cheese. We literally get it every time we come here and it's always delicious. Then we had the Nashville Chicken Sliders. They're good, but nothing super special. Our last item was the short rib street tacos. I'll just say we won't order them again. They weren't bad, but they were lacking in flavor. My cocktail was from the specials list. It was the Bitter Bonfire - made with mezcal - and it was so good! I think my husband had a Manhattan. We will, of course, be back again!

No manager came to check on the situation, no effort was made to assist further, and there was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience beyond the initial apology. I understand accidents happen. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of follow-up or customer care afterward. Additionally, our dinner service took well over two hours on a Wednesday evening, which only added to the frustration of the experience. I was also concerned to notice what appear to be inaccuracies in the suggested gratuity calculations printed on the receipt. Based on the total shown, the percentages listed do not appear to align correctly. Regardless of whether this was intentional or a system error, it creates an uncomfortable impression for customers and is something I believe should be reviewed immediately. Overall, the experience fell far below what I would expect, both in service and professionalism.

I had my first dinner of my stay at Olive + Oak, and it blew me away from the moment I laid my eyes on it. From the unsuspecting street outside, the giant windows glow with the warm, sparkling light from within. An elegant dining room with a beautiful bar and a good amount of hustle and bustle. I felt like I was at an upscale New Orleans joint. Very cozy. Service was just as beautiful. Our server was extremely nice, new the menu backwards and forwards, and rattled off the nightly specials without hesitation. And on top of all of that, when we were getting some stuff to-go, she threw in more bread for us! You can't train that level of service. That's just a good person. Onto the food. We started off with the Blue Crab Gratin (calabrian chili, celery + pretzel bread). This was ooey, gooey, cheesy, delicious, had a fair amount of crab in it, had a nice little kick, and the sliced, crunchy pretzel bread dippers were exquisite. Something seasonal that isn't on their menu anymore, we ordered an Okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake, basically, covered in sauce. Wow, this thing was done well. Very reminiscent of the authentic thing I've had in Japan. Very nice. Another dish that isn't on the menu anymore, the Catfish dish. It was slightly Asian and on top of some sort of risotto rice. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it was very well cooked, had a nice char. An eclectic dish that came together very nicely. I also got to try some of the Rabbit Crepe (port wine braised rabbit, blueberry, fennel, arugula + kenny's bleu gouda crepe). Some people might shudder at the idea of eating rabbit. Those people need to grow up. Rabbit is one of the most succulent, delicious meats out there, and in this wonderful flavor combination, in a crepe. This chef is genius. I could have downed two of these things. We finished off the night with the recommended Cloud Cake (vanilla chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, coconut + whipped cream icing). This thing was de-ca-dent. A nice, thicc sponge, a very coconuty cream, and a whipped icing with lots of coconut pulp in it. So heavenly. Overall, my socks were blown off. Not only does St. Louis have good food, this was a better meal than I had in Nashville and Kansas City. Who would have guessed. I would love to come back.

We started with the Korean fried cauliflower and it was honestly some of the best I've ever had. The batter was light, fluffy, and crispy, and the gochujang sauce with the mayo was sweet and sticky in the best way. Since it's a butchery, we had to try the steaks. I ordered the 4oz filet Oscar style. The meat was tender and very well seasoned, the crab was fresh, and the homemade hollandaise really pulled it all together. My husband had the ribeye. It was a flavorful cut, a little fatty (as ribeye tends to be), but exactly what you'd expect from that cut. The steaks come with a twice-baked potato and vegetable (or you can swap for different vegetables). The potato was flavorful but fairly dense. We also did the bread service - it was good, but felt a bit pricey for the portion. We ended with the flourless chocolate torte, which was very rich and the perfect way to finish the meal - especially on Valentine's Day. Overall, the food was good and the menu is solid. The quality was there, but the portions, bread service and sides didn't fully meet expectations. That said, it was still a lovely experience and a great date-night spot.
