Stopped in here after no spots available at another restaurant. Who knew it was prom night on our trip over from St. Louis to attend Laughs at the Lincoln at the Lincoln Theater? Gruv Bistro was our next stop, and they got us in on the back patio and the hostess and waitress so good knowing we had a time limit. The space is small with little off shoot rooms and really cute. Everyone we spoke with was very nice! My cocktail of choice, Smoke de Agave, a tequila drink of course. I really liked it. I had the prime rib sandwich with a side of brussels sprouts. Both were very good! Loved the ciabatta bread and the prime rib, arugula is always good! The Brussels were good, too. Would very much come back next time we make a visit! read more

First visit for the 2026 calendar. Celebrated a friends birthday. We all tried something different than what we normally order. I went with the bruschetta appetizer which is always good. Then ordered the wild mushroom with bacon flatbread pizza which was shockingly good . I wasn't sure how big the portabella mushrooms would be. ( not too big) which I like. Drinks, I stared off with their brown sugar shaken expresso. Idk why but I imagined it would be in a a martini styled glassware and not a glass. It was under cocktail and not a martini. Still good. Then to end the night I had their blackberry mule. Nice and refreshing. Sadly , mainly my fault I walked away from our table as we left. Didn't get a min away to realize I forgot my left over box. It had a few slices of pizza and appetizer I wanted for the next day. ( it was already tossed ) but dang that was fast how it happened. Overall service was good as always. Wasn't overall crowded. Had just the right amount of people flow. To end our dinner we did try a red velvet cake together. Wasn't too shabby. Can't wait to go back to try other menu items! I will try to avoid returning when they are so busy. Although we were seated right away we had to wait quite awhile for our food. Okay speaking of food- everything was so yummy. We had bacon wrapped stuffed dates, black and blue pizza (v rich) and arugula beet salad. It was delicious. I'm slowly being introduced to cute restaurants on the ILL side! I attended a large private event and was pleasantly surprised by this wine bar. They have a cute little patio in the back and the food was good! Who are the cooks?! Everything I saw looked magazine ready! This is a very small restaurant but they have made good use of the backyard with outdoor seating. I had pizza and the salted caramel martini. Both were delicious! I deducted one star because I had a difficult time getting a server to my table. They avoided eye contact which was disappointing. I understand it was a large event and they were probably understaffed but they could have at least acknowledged people. I had to go to the bar to order my food and drinks. Thank goodness the young lady that took my order brought everything outside to me. They have a pretty extensive cocktail menu. I can't wait to return! Beautiful space and excellent service. The bacon wrapped dates on the appetizer menu were really good. The Greek salad was ok.

Really good margarita pizza. The crust was a little thick for my liking but the cheese ratio made it work. The service was great, thanks Alex! We were seated and served right once we walked in. Oh, how I wanted to love this place! In old historic Belleville, really quaint and intimate vibe inside with front area bar seating maybe 10-12 and a few tables surrounding, then another small dining room behind that and an outdoor patio. Serves creative cocktails, wines, salads, sandwiches and flatbreads. Arrived on a Saturday night, bar was packed but seating at tables available. We were given a spot by the bar, and we really enjoyed the aesthetics and layout. But the bar patron voices carry and we had trouble speaking at our table. Ordered a bourbon drink Spice Light and an Expresso Martini. Both excellent. Ordered stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon as appetizer and they were flavorful. Ordered the Greek Salad and a Mushroom pizza to follow. Wait was long at almost a half hour, and flatbread came out first, with crust burnt. Salad followed after and was just ok. Server was wonderful, and were disappointed it was such a hot and cold experience as a high rating was there for the taking, but alas we'll settle with a 3, and not sure if we'll make it back or not given the mixed experience. read more

Such a cute little spot off Main Street. Went after the Belleville square art fair for a cool drink and snack. They had an event in the back and patio was full so we sat at the charming bar. Staff was short so service was strained. Come to expect that these days. But would visit again knowing patience is key. We had a Rosemary vodka cocktail that was super refreshing. And a Pear Brie bruschetta to die for!!! I could eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I will drive back to Belleville just for this alone!!! AMAZING! Saturday night, 7:45, trying to make it to the 9pm drive in movie. This place has a super cool vibe. We don't often come to this side of the river, but we're so glad we did! We sat on the heated patio, which was lovely. The craft cocktails are AMAZING. I had the whiskey sour (ok, it was actually 2 whiskey sours, because the first one was so good), and it was probably one of the best I'd ever had. Our friends had the old fashioned, and it was outstanding as well. The price is right about the price you'd expect to pay for good craft cocktails, ~$15, give or take. But these ain't just your Jack & Coke drinks, these are well proportioned, fancy schmancy cocktails. The good was terrific as well. I had the chicken sandwich with Brie and cranberries, oh Lawd, it was good. I like that you got more of a side selection than your standard fries or chips. I had mashed potatoes. Very reasonable food prices (and I can be kinda cheap). Lastly, the staff were so authentically friendly. I always appreciate that. We really dug this place and will be back! read more

This is the new business that took over after the Wine Tap closed down. It is very similar to the wine tap which I like because I was sad it shut down. They have a fun wall that says "Good vibes at Gruv" which is super cute and you can take your picture in front of it. Lots of fun cocktails. I'm excited to go back. read more

So so glad this space is open again! Gruv has revived one of my all time favorite Belleville restaurants. We popped in for a bite on a Thursday night. Our server took excellent care of us. We visited Gruv for the fist time today while at Art on the square. We had no idea this hidden gem was there but was just that, a hidden gem! The atmosphere was so beautiful and relaxing, despite the large crowd from the event outside. The food was delicious, not your usual boring menu, the staff was friendly and the drinks were top notch, they definitely dont short you on alcohol! Our only complaint would be that the bartender was on her phone the entire time and seemed to be on a video call with someone, we watched as a lady spent sometime trying to get her attention. I know these young adults spend a lot of time on their phones, but I would not expect to see that at such a sophisticated establishment. However, we still love it overall and rate it an A+ read more

Absolutely recommend the Gruv! We had dinner and drinks there tonight and everything was great. We shared the chicken wings and the prime rib sandwich and both were really good. The perfect cook and sauce on the wings. They nailed the blue cheese crumbles on the wings, great accent taste but not overpowering. And they were cooked perfectly, not overcooked and dried out. The prime rib steak sandwich was very tasty. You could tell it was actually prime rib, not just roast beef. The Gruv also does quality drinks. I had very good Old Fashions and my wife had a Coconut Margarita Martini and a standard Margarita. Both were excellent. Try it out, I trust that you won't be disappointed. read more

We just arrived in the area. Camping with our two dogs. We were hoping to sit outside but big storm was rolling in; the owner welcomed us inside even with the pups. The service was amazing. A hidden gem in Belleville! We had dinner here and we were so impressed. An amazing drink menu! The lotus flower martini is so good. A fabulous menu, it was so hard to decide what to order.
