I decided to give this spot a shot after reading the reviews, and I'm glad I did. The service was well done and never felt rushed. Most importantly, I was treated with kindness and respect. I didn't have to advocate for myself once--my tech was attentive to my needs and respectful throughout the appointment. I was completely relaxed and left with nails I love. I'll definitely be back and look forward to my next appointment!

My nail techinician, who didn't introduce herself and was not particularly warm towards me, greeted me and got down to business. Now-I warned her that my feet were in a rough condition, so I didn't mind her being all business because these toes needed THE business. The pedicure service was fantastic!! my feet were scrubbed and rubbed, my toes nails cut and shaped, and my polish was summertime ready. My nail technician offered me water towards the end of my service, which I graciously accepted, however I noticed most people were offered a beverage at the beginning of their service. The spa is relatively cozy in size and efficient, no frills or luxury, but everything was tidy, and my pedicure was done amazingly, and completed in a bit over an hour. I checked out efficiently and was given a somewhat short and dry good bye..hahahaha. But honestly, their service speaks for itself. I did regular polish instead of gel because that's what came with the spa day that I'd purchased. Usually I hate non-gel nails, but the pedicure was first and they dried fairly hard before the manicure was finished. The manicure was also quite creditable. The nails were shaped and cleaned expertly, but I should have gone for a buff. Full disclaimer: I haven't done regular nail polish in YEARS, I have been an SNS person, but never having been here before, I preferred to withhold judgment (and $$) until I knew the quality of work that was done. This was a mistake. I don't know if I think it was an accident, but this was some of the worst polishing I've ever had in my life. The fan that she had me using made my polish wavy on the tips and when she moved me to the back to the drying station, it dried sideways and the polish basically shifted on the nail bed. She did two of the nails again, but ALL of them look terrible and it's been one day. Overall, not impressed with the regular manicure. Having been a customer of nail salons for a very long time, I would not be surprised that this was a deliberate ploy to get me to upgrade my services, but she never asked! The spa is lovely, the pedicure chairs and comfortable, deep, and private and the massage function works beautifully. The polish colors and offerings are expansive, and they do offer wine with services. If I go back, I will try the SNS with another nail tech. My pedicure is fabulous, but I'm taking off my polish tonight. In truth, my nails will still look good - the manicure itself was fine- but it wasted a ton of time and I didn't enjoy that aspect.

The one star is for color - I've tried, watched and listened. I've tried having my hair colored by the "master colorist" and gm. It's been upsetting each time. I've watched (and listened)... women running into same "not quite what I wanted" color experience. I've also had to sit through listening to an ego boast about teaching the next generation, running the salon, etc. etc. Not how I want to spend my time nor has it resulted in a color I wanted. Application was inconsistent and clumps of color. Also ironic since I've been treated with an attitude by the "master colorist" when problem solving her choice to add color that she wanted vs. I asked for. Her energy overall is negative and her work sloppy. (Fortunately, I haven't had the over processing causing their hair to start falling out.) Who needs this experience (or results, esp at this price)? I had to find another colorist so moved on. It's a shame because I'd give a 4-5 stars for hair cuts done by different stylists (Patricia, Johnathan and Marcella). I've gone to two of them a few times and loved the cut-only appointments. I've had. The women who help with washing hair - high marks too...very nice and love the attention to the experience/massage during the wash. read more

I was at Violet Salon yesterday, a charming, professional and friendly salon, located in Georgetown. I was referred by a friend to go see her hair stylist Peggy Ioakim, who she regularly sees . My experience from beginning to end was great. I was greeted by a friendly staff at the front desk who guided me to the shampoo area since it was my first time there. Then I had the best shampoo I have ever had!! Then I was escorted to Peggy's station where she greeted me and took great concern and care in what I was looking for. My experience from consultation to completion was great! Peggy listened and offered great advice and took great care of me and made sure I got what I was asking for. My color came out exactly like I wanted it and the cut was by far the best I have ever had...to date, I have never received more complements than I did today:) She is not only a true professional with lots of experience, but I felt like she was my friend. Violet Salon is a wonderful salon right in the heart of Georgetown. My colorist, Ado, is one of the best in the city. I am a dark blonde and Ado masterfully highlights my hair for a natural lighter blonde look every few months. I wouldn't dream of going to anyone else. I also highly recommend Marcella and Patricia as stylists. Marcella is meticulous with her cuts and terrific at making recommendations and listening to how you might want to change up your style. Patricia is my "go to" if Marcella is unavailable and also does a wonderful job with my medium-to-long length hair as well. I've been going to Violet Salon for a number of years and have been very happy with the service there. Jimmy is an expert: fast and efficient and very confident with blonde highlights! I'm always impressed with the gorgeous, natural blonde colour he creates. Hair shampoo and conditioning is lovely: nice massage and great products used. Jimmy is a swift and assured trimmer of hair and bangs... always a lovely finish to the style. Blow drying is brilliant and lasts for days and days. My experience yesterday at Violet was wonderful! Marcella has been doing my hair for years, so when she moved to Violet, I did too, and I couldn't be happier. The atmosphere at Violet is light, airy, and very friendly, and of course Marcella is a genius with all kinds of hair. Mine is very thin and she gives it lots of natural body just with an expert cut and blow dry. Plus she will listen to what you want and is a delight to talk to. The salon is on the second floor and is quite easy to find. I had Yvonne give me a haircut and she was so quick with the process. My cut was pretty simple and I just wanted several inches shorter with long curtain bangs. I had it styled at the end too! Not to mention, I was given a deep conditioning treatment. I'm not sure how much that costs but for all the services I received it came out to a decent price ($125). PS there's a store mascot here (some doggos) so just keep that into consideration if you have allergies. I'm sure if you have your dog with you this business is pet friendly.

I have very bleached blonde hair and it's extremely dry and prone to a lot of breakage. No matter what products I use on my hair it never feels like it penetrates the hair shaft so I'm left with dry brittle hair every day. They were able to determine the custom booster treatment based on a quick evaluation of my hair which was applied after shampooing. Then they put me under a vacuum steamer for 15 minutes which was warm except for the last 2 minutes it was cold. Maria explained the whole treatment process so I would know what to expect. When I went to pay, I showed them a yelp coupon that says $10 off any service. I was told they are not affiliated with yelp and can't accept that coupon. Weird, but okay. I left really liking my manicure experience and even thought this may become my new regular place since it's so close to work. Fast forward TWO DAYS to Sunday morning. My nails had air gaps in the middle of the nail and were chipped on all of the edges. I was surprised since it had only been 2 days and usually my manicures last me around a week. I called and left a voicemail asking someone to call me. No one returned my call - no worries, I was in Philly so I'd call call when i returned. She also told me I lied about coming on Friday and that i came on Wednesday - I was not in DC on Wednesday and there is no way I could've come in then. She kept going at me about how I did all of this to get a free re-polish and made up a whole story and lied about everything. I could not believe she was calling me a liar and treating me so horribly over re-polishing nails. I offered to show her how my nails looked on Sunday - the time stamp on the photo does not lie which she didn't want to see. When I told her she was being incredibly rude, she said she was not and went to go get someone named Robert to prove that I was lying about leaving a voicemail. Why would I lie about calling or leaving a voicemail? What do I get out of it? I have never been treated so terribly before: yelled at and called a liar. What a bizarre experience.
