Used to like them. Loved the renovation. Then last time right before vacation I got a full set done and they were terrible. She burnt every finger because there was gel spilling. Gel was left under my nails in huge globs. The edge was unfinished. When looking up close it looked like my 10 year old had done them. Unacceptable. Plus she left my natural nail too long and you could see it under the nail. And on day 3 of vacation they all started popping off because water got underneath. I called and sent pictures. Where do I start? The customer service is ALWAYS 10/10. The care and detail to service is unmatched. So many places now just rush through service, but not here. I've been coming here for a year and have never had a bad experience. I've brought my son and daughter and both absolutely love it here as well. The prices are so fair as well. I arrived as a walk-in for my first visit at VIP Nail Spa and there's a touch screen for checking in that includes entering your phone number. I was looking to get a gel manicure done while on my lunch break in Newbury Park so this place was closeby and was pretty busy at the time I went in. The nail tech Tina did my nails and she did a great job on cleaning up my cuticles and making my gel nails last a solid 2 weeks. Usually when I get a gel manicure done, it only lasts a week but having them done here showed it lasted much longer. I liked that she painted the glitter over the purple for my ring finger because it came out nicely as a purple set instead of just a clear glitter only on the ring finger. There's a cash discount if you pay only in cash so be prepared with that. I recently got a text reminder that it's been 2 weeks since my last nail appt, which was a friendly reminder and it really did last the whole 2 weeks. I used to go to VIP Nails all the time and I loved it! It's been awhile since my last visit but I went in for a pedicure a few days ago. I got a basic pedi with a sugar scrub and I thought it was great. But, once I went out into the sunshine, I could see that she did a terrible job painting my toe nails. Not only did it look like she should have done another coat (because it didn't cover well) but the polish was all over the nail beds and even on the skin of my toes. I have been going to VIP nails for many years now, since it's close to my work. However, it's the wonderful staff and beautiful work they do on my nails every time which keeps me coming back. They provide appointments and walk-ins, and are always as accommodating as possible. Cards are accepted, but cash payments get you discounts. Plus there's a cash appreciation card where five stamps gets you $5 off your next visit. Justin and his crew are always a pleasure to speak with and the remodeling they've done to the salon is gorgeous. I very rarely leave reviews but the last time I went here the new person they have used the nail drill and made my nails so thin that they hurt. I mentioned it and she told me "they must be sensitive" but it's been over two weeks and it has become a pretty big issue. My nails are paper thin and keep splitting and tearing because of how thin she made them and they still hurt. I can't even get my nails done again until these fully grow out and you can see a visible dip in my nail where the new nail is growing in. I really used to like it here but this is something people need to be made aware of... and they need to do a better job of training their new staff so that no one else has to experience this. :/ read more

So, I am here to let you know that YOU need to come to this nail salon to get your nails done by Kelly! I have followed her since she moved over to this location. The place is spacious, clean and quiet. I am always greeted by everyone and I am attended quickly appointment or not. the new renos and chairs are great, I went with 2 other family members who were pretty happy. I would just beware the granny still doing nails who should probably be retired....she took forever on my nails, had to do quite a bit of correction, and it just didn't look good afterwards, nail cut shape and lack of precision. I went in for a Mani Pedi and eyebrow wax. 1. I asked them not to file my fingernails too short because they are already short. They proceeded to make them even shorter and straight across almost in a smile shape, so on the sides are high and they are scooped down in the middle. I had to come home and reshape them. No big deal this can be corrected and my nails grow fast. BUT ... 2. For my eyebrow wax, they put me in a rolling chair in the back of the room and faced me forward toward the other customers instead of a having me go to a private room. I asked for some privacy so she turned the chair around, so I faced the wall. Before she started, I said that I didn't want my eyebrows thin or short just cleaned up. I guess she couldn't understand to me because now my eyebrows are thin and short!!! I do not have much eyebrow left. You can see on my face where my eyebrows were and now where they are not!!! When she showed me with the mirror, I was s upset I just wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. I have an event today and now I'm upset because half of my eyebrows are missing. I'm actually on my way to buy an eyebrow pencil. I knew when she was motioning me towards the chair I should've declined. Do NOT get your eyebrows done here.. -You should be in the private room like the previous owners had it set up. It was courteous and comfortable for the customer. -Obviously you can't see as well looking straight down at the top of someone's head and face versus when a person is lying down and you can see their whole face at any angle. I'm so upset!! I'm going to have to pencil my eyebrows back on my face until they grow back!! read more
