I'm new to the area and although their reviews are mixed, I like to support local shops and I was getting a basic manicure, how can they mess that up? Unfortunately, my first experience here fell below minimum standards. First, they did not bother to file my nails to match lengths. Second, some of my fingers had old chipped nail polish, my nail tech just painted over it. When I mentioned it, he gave those fingers an extra coat but not all, my new polish is a soft white so the fingers with 3 coats stand out over the 2 coats. I went in with my mother for pedicures and I got a manicure. Topaz was fine on my nails, and the woman who did my mother's pedicure did a great, thorough job. But the guy who did my pedicure rushed through. He didn't file my toenails, he did a terrible job on my cuticles, only even looking at them when I spoke up that he had skipped that. Skipped massage/hot towels. Only did OK on callouses, which I spent extra for. He tried to use a color I didn't like/at first didn't let me choose until I spoke up. He finished at least 20/25 minutes before my mom's lady did, when my mom didn't pay extra for the callous treatment and we started at the exact same time. He then chilled out for that whole extra time I waited for my mom in a recliner. Also, Topaz did my nails between my mom and I during the pedicure, and she and the guy talked constantly in their language, making it difficult for my mom and I to talk to each other which was the whole point of mother/daughter pedicures. Two employees heard my mom and I talk about how he had skipped things, and no one offered to make it right. We had been to this salon several times with no problem but I don't think I'll ever go back now. read more

I have been coming here for years and appreciate how accommodating they are. They have pleasant staff and surprisingly Ken remembers just about everyone's name! I've never had to wait very long even when they are busy. . The salon is pretty big so they can accommodate small groups if necessary. I am pretty basic with manicures as I work in a medical office so nail polish is out of the question. Henry typically does my pedicure and I do gel so i can go 4 weeks before having to get them done again. They know what I typically do when i come in so they don't try to upsell anything. read more

I've gone to TK nails a few times before and this has never happened. I won't go back, I just wanted a pedicure and to sit for a moment of me time, I was rushed through in 6 minutes! Granted I wanted a basic pedicure... I felt like I was dismissed because I didn't do any add ons. The nail tech did one pass of the file with no attention to detail. A quick polish and I was done. No warm towel no moisturizer on my calves. I felt ripped off! And they were not Busy! read more

Living about 20 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean in Southern California, we went from the part of Spring known as "May Gray / June Gloom", characterized by a lot of fog and cool temperatures, to full summer heat in just a few days. That meant that it's now sandal season, and no doubt about it. My poor toes haven't seen the sun in many months, so a pedicure was definitely in order. I'd convinced Dear Hubby that we should participate in our neighborhood's annual yard sale. That meant getting up very, very early on a Saturday, hauling out a lot of stuff we hoped to shed, and make a few dollars along the way. Told him that my goal was to make enough to go for pedicures. We made our goal! After getting everything put away, we went to join friends for lunch. After, we could have headed home for nap, but we were out, so we went to TK Nails. DH had been there before, but it was my first time. We arrived about 4 p.m. The owner (?) / host was gracious in welcoming us, and got us settled into two adjoining chairs right away. We didn't discuss the price or package that we wanted, which was my mistake, evidently. Guess they smelled that garage sale cash burning a hole in DH's pocket, because we got the full deluxe, super-duper, what else could they possibly do in a pedicure treatment? I would say that I had some sticker shock, but they really did a good job of pampering. Lacking sleep, once I turned on the massage chair rolling feature, I was close to dozing off. That, and the warm water foot soak proved very relaxing. The woman providing the pedicure to DH was very good. She was conversational in a pleasant way. I think she was partnered with a man who wasn't as experienced, and didn't speak that much English. She wasn't exactly mentoring him, but she could provide added direction / communication when needed. I felt that he didn't fully manage all of the challenges with my toenails that she might have. It seemed like DH had more thorough care for his foot issues in need of attention. For the deluxe treatment, they used special exfoliating scrubs and lotions with a refreshing lemon scent. The massage of feet and calves was a "Yes, please" part of the whole experience. About an hour later, the bill was $118 for the two of us. With tip included, we just about spent everything from the yard sale proceeds. The skin of my calves was amazingly soft and smooth, and my feet felt pampered and ready to show off in sandals. I'd prefer a different nail tech next time, and I'd make sure to know which services I was getting ahead of time / for what price. The overall pedicure experience itself was a good one. read more

My mom took me to this salon to treat me to a pedicure and all I asked for was a nude/pink jelly polish they had on display. I showed the technician (I did not catch his name) and he seems confused as to what polish it was. I had assumed he grabbed the right one so I paid no attention to it. Once he started applying it, it didn't look like what I asked for and yes it is my fault for not speaking up but I thought maybe after another coat it will look like what I wanted. He did 4 coats of what literally looks like a clear polish, and then put chrome on my nails which I didn't ask for. From a distance I couldn't really tell but I thought "it doesn't look that bad I'll just keep it" but once I left the salon and took a better look at my toes I hated it. It just looks like thick clear polish with white chrome, and there's polish all over the skin around my toes. Need I mention some of the toe nails are poorly shaped and some are crooked. I didn't have time to go back in and ask for them to be redone but I have never had this bad of a job done on my toes before. Only reason I didn't put a one star is because the technician who helped my mom did an amazing job for her and she walked out happy. read more

Definitely not meant as a "bad review" but want to be informative, Salon is Cash only or Zelle they also have an ATM. I was a walk-in and there was no wait. I asked for a gel pedicure and water was lukewarm warm and briefly in the water. I had a gentleman do my pedicure and he didn't even add soap to the scrubber. He barely even scrubbed them if you can even call it that. Didn't clean under my nails and did not clean up cuticles at all. He went straight to applying polish. My gel polish lasted maybe 4 days before it peeled off. I paid about $65. The rest of the staff seemed friendly which is why I'm giving 2 stars. Sucks to pay for a service and it be mediocre. read more

First time I went here, it was alright. Decided to give it another shot and boy do I wish I hadn't! Went in for a biogel, no design, just plain simple color. I'm sat down and not greeted, which is okay I'm used to that here. Wasn't asked what shape I wanted, didn't even bother to take care of the cuticles. I wasn't asked for my color of choice until it was literally time to polish. (Usually I am asked ahead of time to ensure proper time to alternate colors if need be). The color of my choice didn't even exist apparently.... They just had it for show. Second color of choice ran out! The person shows me an empty bottle. They then begin to sigh and stomp all over the place, acting as if I am the one inconveniencing them. They then begin to bring in all sorts of shades of blue that I had already said no to. They start conversing and yelling to their coworker across the room who was helping another client, obviously frustrated. Finally I give them 3 colors of choice (thinking they ought to have at least one). Tell me why the numbers didn't even match the color.... They were all wrong!!! Yet I was the one being reprimanded for this salon's inability to have accurate product labels. Needless to say, I chose the most appealing of the 3 polishes they brought out, despite if not even being close to what I had originally asked for. I wanted to walk out and just pay for what was done prior to the polish, didn't even feel comfortable having that person touch me at that point. Their name was Andrew. Never again. Would rather pay for a private nail tech who is much more skilled and personable than receive such terrible service. read more

My sister won't leave a bad review, but I don't care. She went to get her nails done for a wedding and they had to remove the biogel she had done at another salon first, her nails are now destroyed because of the awful and careless job they did here. The drill used to remove the biogel was too rough and when she pulled her hand back from the shock and told the man doing her nails that it hurt he switched it out with an even coarser drill bit. The level of carelessness and incompetence it takes to do a completely botched biogel removal like this is something I have never seen before, and would never expect from a professional setting. She just sat there in shock and watched as her previously long nails broke off because of how paper thin he made them. You can see the exposed skin underneath her nails, that's not normal, and I've done a better job removing my own biogel at home without the "proper" tools. When she was charged $33 for the terrible disservice, she asked up front if there was anyway she wouldn't have to pay full price. The guy at the front desk immediately started telling her she looked sooo pretty and so young for her age and took $5 off. My sister said thank you, paid, and left feeling defeated. Luckily Sophia who works there, and is a literal angel, tracked down my sister in the parking lot and apologized and gave her the money back. Sophia didn't even have anything to do with her getting her nails done. I'm glad there's someone compassionate and responsible like her working there. She should be the manager. A compliment isn't an apology, and I hope none of TK's regulars think that this is a normal outcome for biogel removal. My sister has bandaids on many of her fingers now because the air hitting her nails in the wrong way is painful. Genuinely a horrendously shameful job read more

Not an issue BUTthis nail tech did absolutely the bare minimum on my feet and used a cheese grater to remove my skin. Bad job painting and just an overall marginal experience.I won't go back. This was my first visit. Topaz did my gel manicure, compared to other salons I've been to, I was disappointed. She seemed rush and did a sloppy job. I wanted a natural clear polish and she insisted to go with a pinkish beige color polish, which I didn't care for when it was done. She told me she doesn't like the natural clear polish, even tho I insisted it's about what the client wants. I will return but will try another manicurist. read more

Typically we get Sophie and Ken, who both do a fantastic job on our nails, but all the techs I have gotten have done an amazing job. We have had complicated mail requests before and they always manage to exceed expectations. If one tech cannot do everything requested, they do a fantastic job of working as a team and working together to make sure that the request is met. They are a cash only business with an ATM in the salon I feel at times that they hurry to get to the next customer instead of concentrating on you. And they ask you to add on to your service and if you don't you receive a subpar service. The water got cold while I was waiting for my pedicure, I asked 2 people to please put some warm water in the tub. The answer that I received was Ya Ya I'll be right there..... The owners need to train the staff better.There are 100's of salons in the area-you need better service or your customers will find some where else to go! read more
