Very dissatisfied. Very rude, rushed service where they seemed so stressed that there were just trying to get me out of there. I get it, they were busy... but do not slack on service and do a poor, rude job because of that. They rang me up incorrectly and made me pay more, and then kept dissing me because they wanted me to get a new set instead of just fix the few nails I came in for. This is not my regular nail salon but it is closer to home and my daughter gets her nails done here. Today I went in for a deluxe pedi and mani. The pedicure was really good. My only complaint is the "massage". One or two repeated movements over and over again does not a massage make. But that is pretty typical of most salons so it's not a big negative. My "deluxe" mani, on the other hand, was disappointing. According to the brochure description a deluxe mani includes "creative spa sea salt glove-a mineral salt scrub which gently polishes & conditions the skin. Creative massage oil leaves skin exceptionally soft and non-greasy. Professional heated beauty mitts and butter cream massage." For starters, I did not get the mineral salt scrub. There was also no "butter cream massage." She did use the typical lotion that is given with every mani but I sure wouldn't call it a massage (does pounding up your arm equal a massage?). She did not put any of the lotion on my hands and only a small amount on my arms. I have an autoimmune condition that gives me extremely dry skin which is why I picked this manicure. Then, during the shellac she spilled the polish all over the place, including on my hands. Accidents happen, no big deal, but she then used nail polish remover to get it off. My skin is very (visibly) dry and nail polish remover is definitely not helpful. I had chosen red for all of my nails minus my ring finger which was white. It is obviously a lighter color and should have been given an additional coat. Since she didn't do that, you can see areas of my nail under the white since it's not fully covered. And finally, that massage oil was definitely greasy! read more

I tried this place once when my usual nail place was closed and it was the worst nail experience i've ever had. I waited for an extremely long time and ended up with terrible nails and payed $40 for them. I asked for almond shape and I ended up with an almost oval shape. The paint job was very terrible and looked awful. They were extremely lumping and none of my nails were the same length or shape. I definitely do not recommend this place and I will never go back. read more

This is my favorite place to get a manicure and/pedicure. I decided to take a break from packing and moving into our new house...and got a plain ol' manicure at VIP Nails-Kentwood. I am not sure what products they use or how they do it, but my new manicure/polish hasn't smudged or worn off, even with the "brutal" lifting of boxes and the like. With most salons I can't even get out the door with some sort of damage. The staff is really friendly. My manicurist did make my cuticles bleed, but she was very apologetic and put some antiseptic liquid on it. The new re-model makes the place kind of different from most strip mall nail salons. Great place to get a mani or pedi for a good deal! They have separate spaces depending on the service which makes it nice and relaxing. They also offered my friend and I free beverages while we had our pedis. Nice little bonus are the $35 facials. read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience. I have been getting my nails done for 15+ years and I've never experience less quality. I had a full set of gel white tipped nails put on. I was nicked several times, she filed my actual fingers and cuticles from time to time, she was rushed and rough/harsh (and yesterday was a snow storm--no one was there). They had several tweens come in loud and crazy the whole time. My fingers hurt so much afterward I took a pain reliever. I left and had gel residue all over the underside of my fingers. Save your money--it's not worth it here. read more

When my friend and I entered the shop I was told that I was going to be charged an extra $5 to remove my previous shellac. I have never had to pay for this service at other shops I have been to before so we decided to leave. A worker runs out to grab because she said they do not actually charge, the front desk had it wrong (which I doubt). Since my friend had a gift card to this place we decided to go back in. Then we saw that it was an extra $2 for shinier polish, Sally Hansen polish, and another $3 if you want long nails! Never have I ever seen a place charge more for polish that was not shellac. While sitting my nail tech (the one that tried to charge me $5 actually) used the drill to take off my previous shellac and she constantly held the drill in spots over my fingers for so long that it burned. She said sorry a couple of times and then seemed to not care after that as she continued to burn me. She then complained that this process took too long. Once she actually began to put on my full set my nails turned out really big and bulky. I am normally not one to shy from asking for my nails to be fixed but she seemed so annoyed about the shellac incident, and I didn't want to be charged extra, so I did not. I was left with bulky nails and one nail that was painted extremely bulky so it smudged when the rest of my nails were dry. Another nail tech had no problem fixing it, but my original nail tech made sure to tell me that she did nothing wrong- it was my fault (which I felt was unnecessary). Overall, the prices and the service at this place is not worth it and I will not return. I ended up going home to drill and repaint the nails myself. read more

This is my new nail salon! The pedi was very relaxing and the quality was great! Their massage chairs actually worked, too, as I've been to a few places they don't. I got a shellac mani, Lily was the technician who did both the mani and pedi, she is AWESOME! I wasn't sure about the color of the shellac when she was applying the last coat, she completely redid all my nails and helped me figure out what color looked best. I will DEFINITELY be staying here as a client! Also, the salon is kept very clean, and Lily was constantly sanitizing the tools she was using during the pedi, very reassuring!! read more

I found VIP Nails as I was searching for a place to take my Mommy last Sunday for an early Mother's Day treat! Seeing as they were one of the only places open on Sundays (according to the interweb anyway) and they had good reviews (and the most of any other place listed to boot) I figured they'd be worth a shot .... and boy were they ever! I told my Mum as we were still in the pedicure chairs that I was going to give them a ringing endorsement as soon as my nails dried, but being the distractible gal that I am it ended up taking me a few days before I remembered to do so. When I finally did remember, my mani was still going strong and so I figured I'd wait to see just how long it lasted so I could add that fact to my list of kudos. The final verdict, a FULL FIVE DAYS (and my Mom didn't take hers off until Friday either)! I've never had a mani last that long! So longevity aside, this place rocked for numerous other reasons .... the place as HUGE (we were told they recently remodeled and that included an invasion of the storefront next door), adorably done up (I couldn't stop staring at the funky little chandelier in the pedicure room) and very, VERY clean! The chairs were all new and uber comfy (the back massagers were a gift from above after a long day of yard work the day before). The staff was incredibly friendly, offering us something to drink when we arrived, making conversation (without butting into our own conversations), and helping us with our purses when we were done. After our experience here I wouldn't go anywhere else (while in Michigan anyway .... living in Chicago I may have to find my own haunt in these parts but they're going to have some tough standards to live up to). read more

The massage chairs are the comfiest I've ever been in, and this place seems to go above and beyond many of its competitors - free beverages, longer foot rubs, etc. The prices are decent too - slightly higher than most nail salons, but the quality of the service is well worth it. My favorite technicians are Tina, Lynn, or Wynn for manicures and pedicures or Kenny when I was still getting acrylics. This place is awful.... first i asked for a pedicure and a fill. I got a pedicure that was less than mediocre. The tech cut my big toe not once but 3 TIMES!!! She then proceeded to use a file that was not for me personally and not sanitary at all, but had been used at least 50 times before me. Then I a different tech painted on a design which I had requested but was never informed that there was an extra charge for than. Then I went to 2 different techs to get my fill. I wanted UV gel nails with shellac over the top. Well what I got was the so called owner Tracy, making a personal phone can while she serviced a customer next to me. The phone call was on speaker the entire time. How RUDE!!! Then when the tech doing my nails at the time went to do the fill I asked if this was UV Gel, then the owner got involved and it was like a drill sergeant went in to full battle mode. She then proceeded to take over for the other tech and was going to put the wrong stuff on without filling my nail. After I stopped her, the other tech came back and finished. After that then the other tech left again and the owner sergeant took over again and I asked again if this was UV Gel as she was holding a bottle of clear OPI Laquer and proceeded to tell me it was. Well I know better, not only did she lie, she did not do what I asked. Then come to find out my mother who was there at the same time asked for a specific type of nail service, she wanted solar nails the owner sergeant who somehow got involved in my moms nail service, told her that crystal nails was better, when my stated that not what she wanted, the owner sergeant proceeded with the service. At the end of this, these people tried to scam and double and triple charge us over 100 for services that were not correct nor did they apologize for any of the errors that they made. When I demanded that I only pay for the services that I felt were actually right, they then proceeded to argue and act like utter fools. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE - THEY DOUBLE AND TRIPLE CHARGE FOR THINGS THAT YOU DID NOT RECEIVE AND THEY ARE DECEIVING THE CUSTOMERS BY SAYING THAT THEY ARE USING PRODUCTS WHEN THEY ARE NOT. THESE FOLKS ARE NOT BBB RATED NOR DO THEY HAVE LICENSES FOR EACH PERSON THAT IS A TECH. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING CHARGED AND TREATED LIKE AN ANT. read more

Very clean and relaxing atmosphere. I took my girls age 10, 8, 8 and they were able to get them right back for their pedicures. They did a great job. One of my daughters messed up her nail because she bumped a table and they re-did it no problem. They went out of their way to make sure their nails were perfect before we left. My pedicure turned into a nightmare...As they were going around the nail on my big toe they cut it, it was very painful when it happened but they assured me it was normal to feel that sometimes. After leaving still had a good amount of pain when I walked on it, but I figured it would go away. After a few days I realized that I had a bad infection in my toe and had to go to the Urgent Care and have it taken care of. After contacting them to see about making it right, they told me I was lying and it prolly happened from wearing high heels. Needless to say this place has terrible customer service and will do nothing to work with you. They only want your money and to get you in and out. read more

I was very disappointed in my last visit to VIP. I had a manicure with Shilac push which has always lasted 10-14 days for me. My first nail peeled off after 24 hours and they were all off in 6 days. I went back to have them redone. I was seated in a nail chair for 45 minutes before anyone came to help. The man filed my nails and peeped them , asked me to wash my hands then left to do another manicure. He then returned 45 minutes later to do my polish. I left with polish all over my fingers. It was the worst manicure I've ever had. In all I was there for 2.5 hours for a horrible manicure. I also had my eyebrows waxed. He put me in a wax room where I was left for 15 more minutes. The wax was HOT and burned me. I left with wax all over my face. Then they charged me $30 for this horrible experience. I will never go back. There are nail salons on every corner. I'm sure I'll be better served somewhere else. read more
