Ok, this feels crazy; i'm reviewing a chain restaurant. Years of living in Belize have taught me that consistency and standardisation aren't the enemies of good eats.
It is a very large American diner-style restaurant located inside a shopping Mall with entrances from inside the mall and the parking lot. We were there for an early lunch, which is hard to find in Chetumal. We got the breakfast/lunch menu, but when we asked for the dinner menu, no problem, they brought it right away.
We were super hungry (we eat an early breakfast in Belize before coming to Chetumal for appointments and because of the time difference, we are hungry for lunch before Mexican lunchtime).
My husband went for the mushroom burger, which was loaded with mushrooms, avocado, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The thick patty was medium well and juicy, but the bun was a generic hamburger bun, not the delicious Mexican bun we enjoy... but a chain restaurant, right? The fries were seriously delicious. Ultra crisp and seasoned perfectly.
Sooooo many delicious-sounding options on the menu, i picked the Hawaiian chicken in a panic. I love any breaded fried meat and this did not disappoint. A large chicken breast cutlet, pounded thin, breaded, and fried til golden and crispy then topped with a bit of tomato sauce, a slice of ham, melted gouda, and grilled pineapple. Just a brilliant combination of flavors. The salad was gorgeously fresh lettuces (not iceberg) and the braise potatoes were zinging with garlic and serrano chile.
We are looking forward to trying other menu items on future visits. As everywhere in Chetumal, we are always impressed with the service. It doesn't matter that our Spanish is poor and sloppy. It doesn't matter that they don't speak English: Service is always professional and even with a smile. read more
