I have never created a yelp page for a restaurant. Never in my life. But after the meal like I had at Costera 28 tonight, I felt it wrong to leave this amazing restaurant off of yelp (a site most Americans use to reference when considering where to eat abroad/in Mexico). If you are reading this, you, like me, have likely happened pass this place and thought - right by the lagoon, beautiful interior, is this a good place to try? In short, yes it is.
In length, this restaurant deserves a Michelin star. No BS it does - after this I intend to figure out if you can flag a restaurant for such consideration. The menu is exciting and unique, while also having offerings for all.
The chef came out and explained every dish, the components and their provenance. Nothing on the plate was out of place or intention. And that intention was felt in every bite. My girlfriend literally teared up during the meal and said multiple times she just wanted to give the chef and his team hugs. She wasn't wrong either. The food and atmosphere was immaculate.
We have spent the last 7 months traveling the globe and our meal at Costera 28 by far topped the list of places we've been. The chef here would give the very best of the chefs in Los Angeles, CA a run for their money any day of the week.
And if you might think that an experience like this is beyond your price range - it isn't (but it should be). For less than 70 US dollars we got 2 drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. Tip included. Simply insane considering the quality and intention.
