There are barns and outbuildings around the store and a porch that beckons you to the country charm of this place! And yes, we took the token touristy photo of the peanut head! We couldn't resist! We were warmly greeted by the ladies in the shop and we commenced gathering our nutty selections! We purchased a ton of peanut items: a big bag of unsalted peanuts, butter toasted coated pecans, a can of salted peanuts, some smoked ham slices, a bottle of bbq sauce, a funny squishy stress peanut and some other gifts! We wanted some chocolate covered nuts too but we were traveling and it was hot as the dickens and didn't want them to melt! Next time! We had a great time checking out all the jams, jellies, condiments, pickles, nut butters, the ornaments and other items in the shop! Then we headed out to the car! I said, boy I wish the had peanut brittle! And my brother said, they did have some! So I went right back in and bought a couple of containers of the brittle! Mmmm! We opened one right away and this was the best peanut brittle we ever had! Light and airy and crunchy and buttery, not too hard. Our teeth were thankful for that! Go on and get you some! You won't be sorry! This is peanut country after all. And no, Skippy peanut butter wasn't named for this town, but it could have been!

Just under a mile sits Good Earth Peanuts located in an old farmhouse. Variety and freshness await the nut lover next to a large peanut warehouse. Boiled peanuts are delicious available Cajun spiced and plain with salt. We also purchased a bag of raw peanuts which we are enjoying very much. The store offers a large selection of every other nut you can think of - some covered in chocolate, others buttered-toasted, roasted, made into brittle, trail mix, peanut butter and more! Also selling preserves, jellies, pickles, sauces, local hams and slab bacon.

As a lover of all things local, Yelp came to my rescue and brought me to Storehouse Coffee shop. I have passed through Franklin many times and never realized they have a downtown(?)...central(?)...main street area. I'll have to go back just to check out all the shops that hadn't opened yet. The coffee shop was bustling with morning energy. I was told there was a meet and greet event going on so I tried to stay out of the networker's way while I admired the art of the walls. I love an impulse purchase and each print had a QR code that took you to payment options right there. I LOVE THAT. What a wonderful way to have unique art in your home and support local artists. And not just any artist but pieces by CLAYTON SINGLETON. I recognized his work from a mural at the oceanfront. I had to stop myself from picking up the beautiful Chadwick Bosman piece right then and there. I might go back to get it because I'm still thinking about it 4 days later. When I stepped up to the counter the entire staff was friendly and helpful with their suggestions on what to get. I love my local craft coffee and was excited to hear their beans were sourced from an "up and comer" in Virginia Beach. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the provider but I'm sure we will be hearing about them more. I went with a basic black cold brew that was exactly what I needed. It is businesses like these that keep an area vibrant, diverse, and attractive. I stopped for a coffee but left feeling light and bright from the atmosphere and service. I live an hour away from Franklin but Storehouse has me planning a day trip with friends to come back and see more...and probably buy some art as well.
